Why They Aren't Covering ACORN Scandal

Very few media outlets are covering the explosive news story concerning corruption within ACORN--the 'community organizer' organization tied to Obama.

Why? Columbia Conservative Examiner provides some answers.

But be prepared. The double-standards abound.

Bombshell! Commies & ACORN Help Write Stimulus Bill!

President Obama’s new “green jobs” czar Van Jones, an avowed militant communist, had been on the board of the pressure group Apollo Alliance, which aspires to flatten the U.S. economy by having government fund “green jobs” scams, according to the “Glenn Beck Program” earlier this week.

Even worse, the group, which has ties to ACORN, SEIU, and Center for American Progress president John Podesta, has significant pull in Congress and helped to write the stimulus bill.

David Horowitz at Front Page Magazine presents this explosive report from Matthew Vadum.

DEMS LIE TO AMERICAN PEOPLE ON HEALTHCARE

Just yesterday we saw a graphic display of just how scandalous the House Democratic leadership can be when committee chair Henry Waxman threatened to move to a floor vote on the government takeover of healthcare that very same day.

Conservative 'blue dog' Democrats were outraged and stormed out of a special meeting with Waxman, stating that he had 'lied to them' that they were merely trying to 'save their Party.'

As if this were not enough, White House henchman Rahm Emanuel told reporters yesterday afternoon that in spite of announcing to the public that there would be no vote on the healthcare legislation until the Fall, the House Democratic leadership is, indeed, planning a vote next week--BEFORE the recess.

From NPR:

The House of Representatives does plan to vote on health legislation before leaving for its August recess, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel told NPR.

Emerging from several hours of meetings Thursday with House leaders, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Emanuel told NPR's Steve Inskeep that "their intention is to go next week and she is working toward that goal."

So much for open, honest, ethical, and transparent government...

"Lies, Damn Lies, and Health Care"

Studies already show the legislation's eroding popularity, as citizens find out the problems inherent in socialized medicine, the tax increases necessary to finance it, and the deception politicians use to inflate the number of uninsured Americans.

(From the article 'Lies, Damn Lies, and Healthcare' in Front Page Magazine).

Make no mistake about it, the Obama Administration and Democrats on the Hill are lying about the numbers of uninsured Americans in order to falsely justify dismantling our present healthcare system in lieu of a government-controlled form of socialized medicine.

The costs to the taxpayers are astronomical, the problems with the plan are insurmountable, and the deception used to market the program is inexcusable.

Read all about it in this special report at Front Page Magazine.

Can You Get a Fair Trial in America Today?

Answer--not if the integrity of the state's attorney is in doubt.

There is mounting evidence that the citizens have every reason to doubt the integrity of those who represent the state in trials.

D.C. Rumors: A Deal in the Works for Burris

Rumors are swirling around Washington that Senate Democrats are considering a deal that would allow Roland Burris to take Obama's vacated Senate seat.

Reportedly, Burris will be allowed to take the seat on 2 conditions.

First, the Illinois legislature must proceed with the impeachment of Governor Rod Blagojevich, who appointed Burris although he is under federal indictment for attempting to sell Obama's Senate seat to the highest bidder.

And second, Burris must promise that he will only serve out the remainder of Obama's Senate term and not become a candidate for the seat during the next election.

Senate Democrats believe that Burris would be a weak candidate against Republican opposition.

Thus, the truth comes out. Despite all the moralizing on the part of Democrats concerning 'a tainted appointment by a tainted Governor,' it all boils down to pure politics, i.e., how to keep a Republican out of the seat now, and who would be the strongest candidate to oppose a Republican in 2010.

Milwaukee Discontinues Voter Fraud Unit

Strange. Strange, indeed.

Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit links to a story in the Wall Street Journal today about the City of Milwaukee, Wisconsin pulling the plug on its special 5-man voter fraud unit, just prior to a national election in which there have been numerous reported instances of voter fraud.

The cop in charge of the unit was told by city officials not to send officers to any polling area. He was also told his unit was being disbanded.

Apparently, Milwaukee doesn't want to risk the corruption of the Obama campaign and their supporters coming to light.

Fellow Blogger Under Attack by Hackers

Almost from its inception, Liestoppers has been featured regularly on The Liberty Sphere as the most important source of factual information concerning the Duke lacrosse rape hoax and its many political ramifications.

As a result of its tireless efforts, the three falsely accused lacrosse players were pronounced innocent of the charges and a popular local District Attorney was disbarred and faced criminal charges before a North Carolina court.

Determined that no stone be left unturned in its valiant search for truth and justice, Liestoppers continued peeling back the layers of the case, revealing widespread corruption in the North Carolina Department of Justice, the state legislature, the Durham police department, the Durham D.A.'s office, the North Carolina and Durham County Democratic Party, and Duke University.

Political aspirations among some within these corrupt entities run high, and, given that this is an important election year, someone with deep pockets and access to high-tech methodology has embarked on a systematic effort to silence freedom of speech, particularly with regard to the Liestoppers blog.

Hackers gained access to the blog's control panel and shut down its popular forum, where readers can participate in discussions concerning the corruption of the North Carolina political system, which is under the dominance of the N.C. Democratic Party.

We at The Liberty Sphere had noticed something amiss in the blogosphere when, over a period of several weeks, we received messages concerning Liestoppers containing charges that the blog has engaged in deliberate misinformation and outright lies.

Bloggers are accustomed to these periodic displays given that the Internet is a reflection of life in general, i.e., persons of ill repute and ill will occasionally leave us an unwelcome 'gift.'

These messages, thus, were disregarded.

This was until we read on Saturday that the Liestoppers' forum had been hacked and shut down. At that point we began to realize that the attack was part of a broad, concerted effort to silence free speech, attempting to involve anyone and everyone who had been a part of Liestoppers' efforts in any way in the past.

Liestoppers is a daily feature of The Liberty Sphere. Their latest posts are included in our sidebar as a matter of course. Liestoppers has reciprocated and done the same for The Liberty Sphere. This has been our mutual relationship for a significant period of time.

For our part, this will not change. In fact, now more than ever the blog needs the support of those who appreciate and value their stand for truth and justice.

Border Patrol Scandal Deepens

Almost three years after being shot while attempting to smuggle drugs into the United States, Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila has finally been indicted. Border Patrol agents Compean and Ramos were sent to prison for nearly 12 years in a set-up job perpetrated by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, who withheld evidence from the jury.

The public will finally get to see the entire corrupt fiasco played out in the media, now that the illegal alien drug smuggler has been charged with crimes.

The thing is, Johnny Sutton knew the perpetrator very well. So did others within the U.S. Justice Department. They also knew of his criminal history and background. They were also aware that while Sutton was priming Andrete-Davila to testify against Ramos and Compean, the illegal alien committed yet another crime, smuggling more drugs into the country.

The jury in the trial of Agents Ramos and Compean never heard about ANY of this, however.

It's time now to pay the piper.

With renewed interest in the case, with withheld evidence being made public, with the perpetrator being indicted, and with renewed calls for Ramos and Compean to be pardoned by President Bush, the powder keg waiting to explode has just been lit.

The corruption of the U.S. Government in this case runs deep and wide. GOP Presidential hopeful and U.S. Representative Duncan Hunter hand delivered a letter to the President, urging in the strongest civil language possible a complete investigation to the case and the freeing of the falsely-accused and convicted agents.

The Liberty Sphere has maintained all along that if there is any one single issue that could become the unraveling of the Bush Administration, it is this. The Democrats' endless 'investigations' on the Hill are all fluff and pandering to the gallery. Their saber-rattling on these peripheral issues is an exercise in wasteful spending of taxpayer's money.

Yet Congress has essentially refused to thoroughly investigate the DOJ and Johnny Sutton, despite a few lone voices crying in the wilderness.

The reason for their reluctance is not far to find. Congressional Democrats are just as skittish as the Bush Administration about doing anything about illegal aliens, the Mexican government, and those who aid and abet illegals--a felony according to the U.S. Code.

If there is any integrity at all left in members of Congress, they will scream bloody murder to high heaven until something is done about this shocking and blatant travesty of justice.

Suspension of Disbelief

Novelists employ a common literary device known as 'suspension of disbelief' in order to draw the reader into the fictional world that the writer has created, in order to prevent the reader from objecting to the non-reality to the point that they cannot become emotionally involved in the story.

This is how good writers create a fictional world in which we, the readers, react as if we are in the middle of the story, although that story may be about creatures from outer space that like to use human bodies as incubators for their young.

Engage with me in suspension of disbelief for a moment. Suppose the reason our government and other governments around the world are engaging in a push to band together as a united entity because they know something we commoners don't know.

And suppose one of the things we don't know involves information held by only an elite few who head these various governments, and that this information has to do with extraterrestrials who have made contact someway and have hinted at our destruction.

Suppose, further, that these creatures are so highly advanced and intelligent that there is no way an individual nation on earth, not even the United States, could defeat them on its own, and that only by banding together with other nations in some sort of federation would give humanity one fighting chance at holding our new enemies at bay.

Granted, the concept is not new in fiction. These ideas form the foundation of some of our society's greatest and most recognizable science fiction, such as Star Wars, Star Trek, and others.

But the fact that these fictional concepts could become reality is the cutting edge, and this is where suspension of disbelief becomes essential.

It is to be remembered that cartoons from the 1930s and 40s depicted space ships that traveled to the moon. These fictional space ships bear a remarkable resemblance to the real thing that was developed in the 1950s and 60s. And we did actually go to the moon, when during the 1930s such an idea was fodder for laughter and frivolity--nothing more than a cartoon subject.

The question is, if we are headed for such a massive federation of nations on earth, where does liberty fit into the picture? Where is the demand that freedom be preserved? Do citizens maintain the right to keep and bear firearms? Do they have the right to self-defense?

In all of the hoop-la surrounding federations such as the EU and the proposed North American Union, never once have I heard prudent concerns being voiced about preserving the liberties of the people. The only concerns I have heard mentioned involve the issues of security and economics.

Security and economics--the hallmarks of totalitarian regimes that promise their constituencies greater security and better living. Only free societies place human liberty ahead of security and economics, though the latter two may be an important part of the mix.

When human liberty is not part of the mix, what you have is totalitarianism.

Now, come back with me to reality for a moment. Let's suppose that although there is NO such threat from extraterrestrials these governments manufacture a threat of some kind in order to scare their constituencies into submitting to giving up many of their liberties.

This manufactured threat could be just about anything, from economic collapse to terrorists holding us hostage to, well, extraterrestrials who are threatening to annihilate us. Governments are not above conjuring up such fiction, including employing the novelist's device of suspension of disbelief, in order to convince the citizens that only government officials hold the key to our survival.

The thing is, for many such a stark reality is more difficult to believe than the fiction of extraterrestrials threatening our destruction.

It is never a pleasant exercise to seriously consider the fact that people within your own government have everything but the citizens' best interests at heart, and that some of your favorite elected officials are actually engaging in a dark evil.

What is even more unpleasant is to seriously consider that some of your neighbors, fellow citizens, are aiding and abetting these dark and sinister subversives who wish to destroy liberty and turn America into something it was never envisioned to be.

The central question thus becomes, do you wish to remain as one of the uniformed masses who are being toyed with by the puppet-masters, or do you wish to be a fully informed and totally involved American citizen?

Of course, the easier of the two roads is to believe the fiction, fantastic and unbelievable though it may be. The hard thing to do is accept and deal with reality. But then, we are Americans. We've always done the hard jobs.

Senate Investigates Border Patrol Scandal

Washington, DC (TLS). The U.S. Senate has opened an investigation into the Border Patrol scandal that sent two innocent men, Agents Ramos and Compean, to prison. Each of the men will be in jail for over a decade.

President Bush's friend and crony from Texas, U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, has made sure that anyone who seriously enforces U.S. law on illegal aliens will have a heavy price to pay. His intimidation tactics at the border have put a blanket of fear over those who attempt to control illegal border crossings.

The House of Representatives has repeatedly attempted to gain the cooperation of the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Justice Department in investigating wrongdoing on the part of the government in prosecuting and convicting two innocent men.

However, the White House, the DHS, and the DOJ have essentially told the House of Representatives it can go to hell.

U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo, R-Colorado, was even contacted by Karl Rove to be informed that he would no longer have access to the White House.

Tancredo has been a persistent warrior on behalf of the two falsely accused and imprisoned Border Patrol agents.

Another great American patriot in Congress who has sought truth and justice in this case is Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-California. Officials in the Bush Administration even admitted to lying to Rohrabacher's committee, which was investigating the scandal.

Despite the investigations, the pleas, and the threats of Republican Congressmen, absolutely nothing has been done to rectify one of the most despicable displays of prosecutorial misconduct and government corruption in the history of the U.S. Justice Department.

Not even the persistent pleas of the highly respected and longtime Republican Congressman from California, Duncan Hunter, could convince the Administration to do the right thing.

The Bush Administration may well regret that it did not cooperate with Rohrabacher, Tancredo, and Hunter. The U.S. Senate, under the control of Democrats, has now seized the issue.

Thus, no longer is the White House dealing with its friends in Congress. It will now go head-to-head with those who have a vested interest in completely destroying the Bush White House and putting a permanent stain on the legacy of this Administration.

To be perfectly candid, the Administration had it coming. They have brought this on themselves. By refusing to do the right thing and free the innocent Border Patrol agents, fire Johnny Sutton, and launch an investigation into government corruption of its own, the Bush White House will now suffer the consequences--a completely hostile investigation.

Normally The Liberty Sphere views investigations launched by Democrats in Congress as nothing more than political opportunism at its worst. In this case, however, we find ourselves fully supporting the Democrats in the Senate who wish to get to the bottom of this horrific scandal.

Perhaps this is one case where both Republicans and Democrats can work together to reign in an Administration that apparently operates under the assumption that it can do whatever it wants, legal or not.

Mr. Bush could help himself tremendously by admitting to the mistakes of Johnny Sutton and others, firing those who need to be ousted, and taking responsibility for those in his Administration who were neither ethical nor trustworthy.

I fear that unless Mr. Bush does his own housecleaning now, the Democrats will surely do it in 2008 with a massive sweep that will put both the White House and the Congress under their control.

And such a thing would be ominous for the country.

The Rank Stench Emanating From Washington

Here is a small assignment for you. Go outside and stand facing in the direction of Washington, DC. Then, take in a deep breath.

Get a whiff?

The obnoxious fumes you picked up is the rank stench of corruption emanating from Washington.

The 2006 election cycle was supposed to be about 'restoring integrity to the political process in Washington' after over a decade of Republican leadership that supposedly gave us ethics violations, one of which was 'misleading us into war.'

As it turns out, the Republicans are all standing in line for Sainthood compared to the mob of ethically-challenged mongrels who run Congress now.

Let's look at a brief run-down of just how corrupt the new Democratic leadership has been in the few months they've been in control, shall we?

**Nancy Pelosi had a four-day party-bash to celebrate her coronation as Queen of the House, costing the taxpayers thousands of dollars. Her spending spree had continued with her globe-trotting as no other Speaker in the history of the House has done, including traveling to the Middle East to talk to our enemies and the parties involved in the Iraq War, which is expressly forbidden by the U.S. Constitution!

**Harry Reid, new Senate majority leader, was fresh from an ethics flap over some illegal campaign contributions when he took his new job. He escaped punishment by promising not to do it again and giving the money back. Wonder if that's enough to keep you out of jail if you are hauled to Court to face the judge for illegal activity? Reid also declared that America has lost the War in Iraq while our troops are still in harm's way.

**John Conyers broke federal campaign laws by using his Congressional staff to do campaign work. Once again, he promised not to do it again and all was well.

**William Jefferson was caught with $90,000 in cold cash (pardon the pun) found in his freezer. He has been charged with several felonies and yet not a word has been said of it by the House leadership. He still sits in his seat in Congress.

**Senator Dianne Feinstein sat on the committee that oversaw the granting of military construction contracts (she was the ranking member). As it turns out Feinstein's husband's companies were the recipients of millions of dollars of government contracts that directly benefited Feinstein and her husband. But do you think a word has been said by the Senate leadership about 'conflict of interest?' Feinstein still sits there in her seat in the Senate.

**Muslim Keith Ellison insisted that a Koran be used in his photo-op swearing-in ceremony...a book which forbids anyone from swearing allegiance to anything other than Allah. One wonders how he can swear allegiance to his country and the Constitution when the very book he had his hand on forbids swearing such allegiances. In addition, it was disclosed that Ellison had once defended and raised funds for the terrorist who once attempted to bomb Dianne Feinstein's home in San Francisco back when she worked for the city. And this is not to mention that Ellison's bid for Congress was supported by CAIR--the Muslim entity that has been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in a funds-to-foreign-terrorists scheme prosecuted by the U.S. Dept. of Justice. Yet, there he is, big as Ike, sitting in his seat in the House.

I could go further, but I will stop there with just the tip of the iceberg. It is said that what is seen and known of corruption is never the biggest part. That stench you smell emanating from Washington is but one small whiff of a much larger, hidden cauldron of corruption boiling beneath the surface.

As the saying goes, 'We ain't seen nothing yet,' particularly if Hillary is elected to the White House.

House Dems Slow To Investigate William Jefferson

Washington, DC (TLS). House Democrats are dragging their feet, as expected, in investigating the corruption of Rep. William Jefferson, D-Louisiana, who has been charged with multiple counts of money laundering, bribery, and racketeering.

Jefferson is the Congressman who was caught with $90,000 in cash hidden in his freezer in his residence.

In spite of the dark cloud of corruption hanging over the head of Jefferson, Congress has not investigated him, and his home district of New Orleans re-elected him to office.

In spite of the federal indictments on several felony charges, the Democrat-controlled Congress is still in no hurry to investigate Jefferson. Apparently Pelosi is concerned about corruption only when it comes to Republicans.

And apparently committing felonies is fine as long as you have the 'Big D' beside your name.

HOUSE DEMOCRAT CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE FELONIES

Washington, DC (TLS). U.S. Representative William Jefferson, D-Louisiana, has been charged with multiple counts of felonies, including bribery, racketeering, and money-laundering, in a stinging indictment that could potentially carry a 235-year term of imprisonment.

Two years ago investigators found $90,000 in cash hidden in a freezer in Jefferson's residence.

Yet voters in the New Orleans Congressional district elected Jefferson to another term even as a dark cloud of corruption enveloped him.

In addition, the ethically-challenged House of Representatives run by Nancy Pelosi has essentially abdicated its responsibility in following-up on the evidence of gross corruption on the part of Jefferson. The Democrats were elected to a majority in the House partially based upon promises to 'clean up the corruption.' Once in office, however, it was business as usual, not only with the Jefferson case but also with other high-profile corruption cases.

The Republican minority reported late Monday that it intends to force a vote on expulsion for Jefferson in light of today's revelation.

The Liberty Sphere agrees that this is the best course of action, unless Jefferson decides to resign. The charges against him are serious enough that it would be the right thing to do to step down while he deals with the legal ramifications of one of the worst offenses a public servant can commit--that of using his office to take bribes from foreign countries.

More Shame in Durham--Circling the Wagons

Durham, NC (TLS). And the shame of Durham continues as the co-conspirators in the Nifong-Mangum Hoax circle the wagons, denying any culpability, not even as much as acknowledging mistakes in the entire fiasco.

The Durham Police Department had ample opportunity to cleanse itself in its own internal investigation into the affair, only to return with a statement of denials and the insistence that it had done absolutely nothing wrong.

Can't you just see the halos?

The Department's failure to confess and repent, and thus salvage what little integrity may remain within its dens of corruption, has led to calls for totally independent examinations and a much more candid assessment of what went wrong. The Liberty Sphere believes that such an independent investigation is long overdue.

Our concern, however, runs much deeper than just with the Durham Police Department, for we are convinced that Durham is but a microcosm of a much broader culture of corruption that exists in North Carolina state government. We have sounded the alarm many times about such corruption, for example, within the North Carolina Department of Social Services and its heavy-handed, gestapo-like tactics with innocent citizens.

We will leave that matter to our ongoing investigations into DSS. For now, the focus is on Durham. Perhaps if a concerted effort is made to clean up the police department, city government, the judiciary, and the local Democratic Party, then this would be one gigantic first step toward further reform in other areas.

We can only hope.

Liestoppers has a detailed examination of the nature of the corruption within the Durham Police Department with regard to the Nifong-Mangum Hoax. In spite of a scathing assessment from the North Carolina Attorney-General and others who have observed this scandal from afar, the local co-conspirators are indeed circling the wagons, fabricating stories, and outright lying to the public concerning their conduct in the affair.

Thus, the shame of Durham only deepens.

LEGAL BOMBSHELL! CORRUPTION AMONG N.C. D.A.s

Washington, DC (TLS). Liestoppers is reporting a legal bombshell of a story concerning corruption among North Carolina District Attorneys, which apparently has reached a fever pitch.

The D.A.s publicly scorned Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong several months ago in an apparent attempt to save their own carcasses that were on the line as Nifong exhibited for the entire world what is wrong with the North Carolina system of justice, District Attorneys in particular.

As you will see in the Liestoppers article below, that move was only a ruse. The N.C. D.A.s have now shown their true colors by lobbying the state legislature to make legal the nifonging of innocent citizens! The D.A.s wish to legalize the withholding of vital evidence from defense attorneys, just as Nifong did in the Duke lacrosse rape hoax.

The Liberty Sphere has been very concerned for quite a number of months now about the burgeoning corruption that is growing like a cancer within the entirety of North Carolina state government, including the Department of Social Services. If what we are seeing in DSS and among the D.A.s is any indication of the state of North Carolina government, then it is clear the citizens are getting shafted big-time.

ALERT! Feinstein Scandal Hits Major Capitol Paper

Washington, DC (TLS). The scandal involving Senator Dianne Feinstein's scheme to funnel millions of dollars of military construction contracts to her husband's companies while chairing the very committee that approves those contracts has finally hit a major Capitol newspaper.

'The Hill' is reporting today that Feinstein's under-the-table activities that benefited her husband's companies is finally causing a stir among those responsible for appropriations in the Senate...not that her Democratic colleagues or any of the mainstream media fueled the uproar.

In fact, there has been a deafening silence among the mainstream media and Senate Democrats concerning Feinstein's obvious conflict of interest activities. Not a single major newspaper or any of the four mainstream TV news sources (CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN) have said a word about it. Harry Reid and company have conveniently allowed Iraq and other issues to hide this brewing scandal that is getting ready to blow like a dormant volcano in an earthquake.

Granted, The Hill is not a major national newspaper. But it is a VERY important source of news inside the Beltway among government movers and shakers. And this is why this story is so significant.

Until now the only ones talking about the Feinstein scandal have been The Liberty Sphere, World Net Daily News, and those whispering in the corners of Capitol Hill. The Liberty Sphere has dubbed this debacle as 'the Feinstein war profiteering scandal.' Very few, however, paid attention.

Today however, with 'The Hill' bringing those whispers and lone voices to the forefront, this scandal is about to take the Beltway by storm. The Democrats and their comrades in the mainstream media will be forced to deal with a corruption case that it had just as soon ignore.

Read the story in The Hill here:
