When Senate Majority leader Harry Reid, D-NV, stated recently, 'I don't work for Barack Obama,' many assumed this was a signal that the incoming President would not have a rubber-stamp from Congress in spite of the fact that his own Party runs the place.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
You can bet your last Smith & Wesson that no matter what Democrats say publicly, Obama is going to have fairly smooth sailing when it comes to this Congress. All if not most of his Cabinet nominees will be approved quickly. He will get most of what he asks for with little opposition.
Reid's statement was politically calculating, period, end. Nothing more to it.
The Senator is going to be in the fight of his political life in 2010 as he faces re-election at a time when Congress' approval rating is in the single-digits and when his own approval rating in Nevada is dismal.
Nevada also went for George W. Bush both in 2000 and in 2004, despite its falling into the Obama column in 2008.
Just as Americans threw a tantrum and threw out many Republicans, they can just as easily turn against Democrats and Obama. And Reid has already seen signs that his constituents in Nevada may be getting ready to ditch their Senator who has presided over the single most unpopular Senate in U.S. history.
Reid also knows that publicly distancing himself from Obama may be good strategy come 2010.

Sen. Harry Reid Says He 'Can't Stand' McCain
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, claims he 'can't stand' John McCain. I understand. There are days when I can't either.
But McCain is nowhere near being in the came league with those who are beneath contempt, such as the illustrious Majority Leader.
It's too bad most people simply don't like you at all, isn't it, Harold?

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:
Squeaky announces that today is the day that she and Ahab start their regular Blogtalk Radio show, and it all begins tonight at 11 P.M. The topic will be D.C. vs. Heller.
The War on Guns gives us an update on the David Olofson travesty and provides a link to Codrea's latest column in Guns Magazine, which is entitled, 'To Plant a Seed.'
Say Uncle says it's time to 'get your activism on' as we continue to fight battles related to gun rights on various local levels around the country. (Hat tip to JR at A Keyboard and a .45).
Armed and Safe blogs on the poster contest regarding the Libertarian Party debacle, Bob Barr.
Mike McCarville has something you MUST see! Bill Clinton told his closest confidantes that Barack Obama can 'kiss my ass.' Read the whole story.
Dr. John Lott is reporting that reputable sources say that Senator Harry Reid has Alzheimer's and will be stepping down as Senate Majority Leader after the election in November.
Robb Allen has an excellent post today on victimless felonies.
Traction Control has a disturbing piece that shows the antis are now targeting the 'legal loopholes' in the SCOTUS decision on Heller.
Alphecca has a MUST-read entitled, 'I Don't Want a Gun So You Can't Have One,' and follows up with THIS entitled, 'The Gun Grabbers Think They Won.'
Roberta X shows us yet another example of how the government and environmentalist wackos essentially screw the citizens in the you-know-what. Being an asthmatic myself, I am angry as hell about it. Roberta also has a link to something that dog lovers like me can relate to. A fellow blogger has lost her beloved puppy dog, Valentine.
Gateway Pundit reports that a major Democratic Party official has been arrested and charged with Satanic ritualistic sex crimes involving chaining people to beds, putting them in cages, and depriving them of food and water. The perpetrator and her husband were actively recruiting young people to join the Democratic Party to vote for Barack Obama.
The Western Rifle Shooters Association has this MUST-read on civil disobedience at the Atlanta airport.
Snow Flakes in Hell shows us something that he says is better than any freak show. Yep!
The American Thinker says that nutcase Wesley Clark has found a home among the other anti-Israeli advisers on the Barack Obama team.
Human Events reports that U.S. Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) is a 'gift that keeps on giving'--to his opponents. It seems the Senator has become a big embarrassment.
The Smallest Minority has the quote of the day.

Second Amendment News Roundup for 12/20/07
Focusing on guns and politics, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:
Don't look now, but the 2-bit, sorry-assed, m-effin' Congress we elected last year has just banned the incandescent light bulb, and Bush signed the damn measure into the law. Assholes, the entire lot:
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=59298
And THE BASTARD Harry Reid explains why banning a fuggin' light bulb is a legitimate role of government...what a mother-effer!:
http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewPolitics.asp?Page=/Politics/archive/200712/POL20071220f.html
Sebastian says that legislation has been introduced in Congress to deal with the ATF:
http://www.snowflakesinhell.com/?p=2210
And while I am on my rant, I might as well go for broke. The unconstitutional gun control bill known as H.R. 2640 has been approved by Congress and sits on Bush's desk, and he is expected to sign it. Assholes. Here is Nicki's take on it:
http://libertyzone.blogspot.com/2007/12/its-done-deal.html
Nicki can rant a lot better than I can. So I will just let her do the talking on this one. Except for one thing. Perhaps it is getting close to the time when Patriots will need to invoke Jefferson's reset button, if you know what I mean:
http://libertyzone.blogspot.com/2007/12/you-pathetic-little-twerp.html
The War on Guns provides us with a Chambliss update on the ATF:

No department of happy. Heh. Say Uncle has the quote of the day:

Michelle Malkin reports that not only has Tom Tancredo dropped out of the GOP race, but he has endorsed Mitt Romney:

DAMN! This just provides more fodder for me to blow my stack about today. A bill has been introduced that would prevent federal judges from attending any educational event except what is sponsored by the federal government. Can you say TYRANNY, DESPOTISM, TOTALITARIANISM??? Assholes. The Volokh Conspiracy has the whole rank stench of the bullshit here:
http://volokh.com/archives/archive_2007_12_16-2007_12_22.shtml#1198150138

http://twowheeledmadwoman.blogspot.com/2007/12/im-livin-in-your-monitor.html
Well, that's it for today. As you can probably tell, I am hopping mad about what our illustrious tyrants in Congress are doing to this nation. The M-Effers have just about gotten on my last good nerve. I'm going to cool off. Bye.

A Wing-Ding with Cartwheels in Congress
Leave it to the perennial featherweight, the wisp himself, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, to keep the clown show going under the Democrats in Congress.
Reid stated this week that he would do absolutely anything, including cutting cartwheels down the aisles of the Senate floor, in order to call attention to the supposed 'Republican obstructionism.'
Apparently the chief clown in the Senate has his shorts in a bunch because he can't get all of his legislation passed. Despite clear majorities in both Houses of Congress, Democrats have not been able to pass all of the legislation they intended when they took over Congress earlier this year.
Heaven forbid that there be any serious debate, disagreement, and the healthy locking of horns when it comes to the important business of the country.
And let's not forget that both Reid in the Senate, and Fuhrer Pelosi in the House, have had plenty of opposition from their own Party.
It is much easier and expedient, however, to blame Republicans.
And thus, with a clown show there is always a big wing-ding. This one, of course, is not celebratory but one in which the dignity of the office of Senate Majority Leader is ripped to shreds by a clown who wants to do cartwheels down the aisles.
Many of us were sincerely hoping that Reid would make good on his promise. But alas, the Senator apparently backed out of the display at the last minute.
Wonder if he can even do cartwheels?

Now That We're Winning, Let's Leave?
Most observers in the realm of world politics say that the so-called 'troop surge' in Iraq is working. Some of the very pundits whose warnings were used by the Democrats to call for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq are now saying that winning the war is entirely within reach.
Even many Congressional Democrats are beginning to say the very same thing.
The Democratic leadership, however, says that our recent successes in Iraq are cause for immediate withdrawal. This view is clearly not shared by many of the rank-and-file Democrats in the Congress, however.
So, what, exactly, is happening with the Democratic leadership?
One, Party leaders are definitely beholden to extremists who make up the core of the Party faithful. From Cindy Sheehan to Michael Moore, from Sean Penn to Harry Belafonte, from George Soros to Barbra Streisand, Democratic Party activists demand an immediate withdrawal from Iraq no matter what.
Two, the Democrats have staked out the War in Iraq as the single issue with which to win the White House in 2008. Thus, whether they like it or not, and whether they admit it or not, the Democrats have a vested political interest in our losing the War.
The fact that we are now winning does not figure into the 2008 campaign playbook, which assumed that Iraq would continue to drag Mr. Bush and the Republicans further down into the abyss, leaving a golden opportunity for the Democrats to seize the supposed failures of the War as a reason to put them in the White House.
Thus, for the U.S. to turn things around and actually begin to bring a volatile situation under control in Iraq would be bad political news for the Democrats.
And whether the Dems like it or not, this is precisely the predicament in which the Party and its candidates find themselves, i.e., being the Party that wins if America loses.
Three, without fail each member of the Democratic leadership is on record utilizing the most vitriolic rhetoric one can muster to condemn the War, though most of them voted for it, and to lambast the Republicans who supposedly 'got us into this mess,' which once again could not have happened without the help and support of Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, John Kerry, Harry Reid, and Ted Kennedy in 2002.
Each of the Senators mentioned above support withdrawal in spite of the turn-around produced by the troop-surge. Add to that members of the House, such as John Conyers, Nancy Pelosi, and John Murtha, and it is clear that the Party leadership is obviously paying no attention to the members of the Democratic rank-and-file nor their chosen pundits who once supported withdrawal but who now say the surge is working.
The attitude of the Democratic leadership seems to be that of, 'Now that we are winning, let's leave.' No real need to stay until the job is done, right?
Only if you have a vested interest in making sure that we do not finish the job. After all, the 2008 elections draw near.

NYT Report--Relations in Congress Volatile
Washington, DC (TLS). Matt Drudge has the early scoop on Friday morning's New York Times headlines concerning contentious relations in Congress.
According to a special report published in the Times, not only is public approval of Congress running at an all-time low of just 16% but personal relationships are suffering between Congressional members themselves.
The special NYT report states that Senate Republicans in particular are quite unhappy with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV. Arlen Specter in particular has complained that Reid is increasingly rude and nearly impossible to deal with.
Reid interrupted Senator Specter repeatedly during a Senate session on Thursday.
Many Senators in both Parties admit that rarely in recent history has there been such a volatile climate within the U.S. Senate.
The Liberty Sphere is not surprised at all. Look at who is in control for the explanation.

Democrats to Tax Cigar Industry Out of Business
Washington, DC (TLS). Fred Thompson likes them. So does Tom Tancredo. My grandfather loved them--he kept one in his mouth all day long and lived to be 80.
Bill Clinton smoked them. Sometimes he loved to smell them after they had been in a certain place.
This writer loves them too. But the Democrats in Congress are intent on running cigar companies out of business with a massive, unprecedented tax increase of draconian proportions.
Cigar aficionados and manufacturers were aghast upon hearing the news today that Democrats in Congress are planning on slapping a 10 DOLLAR PER CIGAR federal tax on premium stogies.
The Boston Tea Party was organized over much less of an affront to citizens that this.
For example, if a customer goes into his/her favorite cigar shop and buys three Fuentes at 3 bucks a piece, the total bill for that purchase will be at least $39.00. Nine dollars of that total will be for the cigars, and thirty dollars will be for the federal tax, and that does not even count state and local sales taxes.
Congress is justifying its robbery of the citizens by saying it will use the funds from these astronomical taxes to 'pay for child healthcare.'
To put it simply, BALDERDASH!
The proposals the Democrats have put on the table for child healthcare are simply a method for initiating socialized medicine in increments, starting with children.
And they are not just targeting the poor. They want ALL children covered by the government, regardless of need.
The Liberty Sphere has long advocated the consideration of methods to insure those who lack access to the nation's healthcare system. There are ways to accomplish this without the government taking over and dismantling American free enterprise.
We have no objection to implementing methods to cover the children of the poor. But we vehemently object to the government doing it and implementing a blanket socialized federal system that covers even those children whose parents have very good private insurance.
The Democrats hope they can pull this off by referring to the plan as a 'sin tax' to 'pay for children's healthcare.' After all, who can argue with that?
This is what they are counting on.
I don't buy it.
Their plan is a ruse to get a foot in the door of socialized medicine, using children as their first experiment. Every single one of them should be ashamed.
As for their 10-bucks-per-cigar federal tax, the outrageous, over-the-top, asinine nature of this proposal simply boggles the mind. The notion of such a thing is more evidence of the oppressive nature of Democrats with regard to taxation. They never saw a tax increase they didn't like.
And this time, apparently the bigger the increase the better.
And remember, these government thieves are planning on allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire in 2010, which will amount to the single largest tax increase in U.S. history.
Perhaps all of us cigar smokers should somehow pile up all the Democrats into a room so that we can light up and blow cigar smoke in their faces. Take that, Pelosi. Reid, here's something for your lungs!
No wonder these clowns have a national approval rating at a mere 16%.

The Rank Stench Emanating From Washington
Here is a small assignment for you. Go outside and stand facing in the direction of Washington, DC. Then, take in a deep breath.
Get a whiff?
The obnoxious fumes you picked up is the rank stench of corruption emanating from Washington.
The 2006 election cycle was supposed to be about 'restoring integrity to the political process in Washington' after over a decade of Republican leadership that supposedly gave us ethics violations, one of which was 'misleading us into war.'
As it turns out, the Republicans are all standing in line for Sainthood compared to the mob of ethically-challenged mongrels who run Congress now.
Let's look at a brief run-down of just how corrupt the new Democratic leadership has been in the few months they've been in control, shall we?
**Nancy Pelosi had a four-day party-bash to celebrate her coronation as Queen of the House, costing the taxpayers thousands of dollars. Her spending spree had continued with her globe-trotting as no other Speaker in the history of the House has done, including traveling to the Middle East to talk to our enemies and the parties involved in the Iraq War, which is expressly forbidden by the U.S. Constitution!
**Harry Reid, new Senate majority leader, was fresh from an ethics flap over some illegal campaign contributions when he took his new job. He escaped punishment by promising not to do it again and giving the money back. Wonder if that's enough to keep you out of jail if you are hauled to Court to face the judge for illegal activity? Reid also declared that America has lost the War in Iraq while our troops are still in harm's way.
**John Conyers broke federal campaign laws by using his Congressional staff to do campaign work. Once again, he promised not to do it again and all was well.
**William Jefferson was caught with $90,000 in cold cash (pardon the pun) found in his freezer. He has been charged with several felonies and yet not a word has been said of it by the House leadership. He still sits in his seat in Congress.
**Senator Dianne Feinstein sat on the committee that oversaw the granting of military construction contracts (she was the ranking member). As it turns out Feinstein's husband's companies were the recipients of millions of dollars of government contracts that directly benefited Feinstein and her husband. But do you think a word has been said by the Senate leadership about 'conflict of interest?' Feinstein still sits there in her seat in the Senate.
**Muslim Keith Ellison insisted that a Koran be used in his photo-op swearing-in ceremony...a book which forbids anyone from swearing allegiance to anything other than Allah. One wonders how he can swear allegiance to his country and the Constitution when the very book he had his hand on forbids swearing such allegiances. In addition, it was disclosed that Ellison had once defended and raised funds for the terrorist who once attempted to bomb Dianne Feinstein's home in San Francisco back when she worked for the city. And this is not to mention that Ellison's bid for Congress was supported by CAIR--the Muslim entity that has been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in a funds-to-foreign-terrorists scheme prosecuted by the U.S. Dept. of Justice. Yet, there he is, big as Ike, sitting in his seat in the House.
I could go further, but I will stop there with just the tip of the iceberg. It is said that what is seen and known of corruption is never the biggest part. That stench you smell emanating from Washington is but one small whiff of a much larger, hidden cauldron of corruption boiling beneath the surface.
As the saying goes, 'We ain't seen nothing yet,' particularly if Hillary is elected to the White House.
Get a whiff?

Take It Back, Mr. Lott
Senator Trent Lott's mouth has gotten him in a heap of trouble yet again.
Remember a few years back when the Mississippi Republican, who was then Senate Majority Leader, uttered a few unfortunate remarks at Senator Strom Thurmond's 100th birthday party, and was forced to step down as Majority Leader?
Guess who was most vigorous in his defense?
Conservative talk radio.
Talk radio hosts from across the nation blasted Lott's critics, claiming they had made a mountain out of a molehill by treating as racist an off-the-cuff remark about Thurmond's 1948 bid for the White House.
Thurmond was a segregationist at the time.
Although Thurmond later repudiated his earlier views and became a moderating influence in the Senate, even befriending that bastion of Liberalism, Joe Biden, the interest groups in the country demanded Lott's head for merely attempting to make a very old man feel good on his birthday.
NONE of these interest groups have ever once demanded an accounting on the part of Senator Robert 'Sheets' Byrd, who was a member of the Klu Klux Klan.
You see, Byrd is a Democrat. It's amazing what you can get away with as long as you have that 'Big D' beside your name.
Not only were the interest groups and their spokesmen Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton calling for Lott to step down as Majority Leader, they wanted him to resign from the Senate altogether!
Yet conservative talk radio took on Jackson and Sharpton, exposing their hypocrisy, and essentially saving Lott's political career if not his position as Majority Leader.
It is for this reason that Lott's recent comments about talk radio are very odd.
Lott was angry that we commoners out here in the heartland think the Kennedy/McCain/Bush immigration bill is one big scam. The President has relied on Lott to be one of his top lieutenants in the Senate to attempt to get the bill passed, in spite of its overwhelming lack of support among the citizens.
Thus, Lott went ape and began blaming various and sundry circumstances for the bill's unpopularity. He could not very well blame the citizens themselves, for such would be political suicide.
So what did he do? He started sounding like Hillary, Barbara Boxer, John Conyers, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid.
Thus spoketh Lott: 'Talk radio is ruining this country, and we need to do something about that.'
Senator, talk radio saved your ass. Maybe it shouldn't have since you think it is ruining the country. Could their decision to support YOU be part of its scheme of ruination?
Take it back, Mr. Lott, or else you may find yourself not only out of a job as Majority Leader, but booted out of the Senate by the good voters in Mississippi the next time you run for re-election.

Senator Feinstein in Major Ethics Scandal
Washington, DC (TLS). Senator Diane Feinstein, D-California, has resigned from her post as senior member of the Senate Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee after it was learned that she regularly reviewed and accepted contracts from her husband's two companies to do construction work for the U.S. military. These contracts were worth billions of dollars.
This means that the Senator was engaged in a clear conflict-of-interest, and thus is in violation of ethics regulations concerning the awarding of government contracts.
Feinstein was personally involved in the approval of multi-billion-dollar contracts that directly benefited her husband.
As the ranking member of the subcommittee, Feinstein established cozy relationships with military officials while funneling to her husband's companies lucrative government contracts to do construction at military facilities.
Feinstein joins the growing ranks of corrupt Democrats who gained a majority in November supposedly to 'restore honesty and integrity to Congress' after those evil Republicans corrupted it.
However, the Democrats have proved that all it took was a mere 3 months to show the nation that they are more corrupt than the Republicans.
John Conyers, Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, admitted to breaking federal campaign finance laws, but avoided any repercussions after he promised 'not to do it again.'
Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, took illegal campaign contributions, but avoided any repercussions after he gave the money back.
Rep. William 'the Refrigerator' Jefferson sits on the House Homeland Security Committee, in spite of the fact that over $100,000 of dirty money was found in his freezer.
Nancy Pelosi wanted to appoint a Congressman to a Chairmanship in spite of the fact that he was once expelled from Congress for breaking the law.
Senator Patrick "Leaky" Leahy violated the law in leaking classified information while a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee--for which Leahy was forced to resign from the committee.
This is not to mention that Scooter Libby faces significant jail-time in a federal penitentiary for supposedly 'outing' a covert CIA agent although everyone already knew who she was and what she did, in spite of the fact that it was Richard Armitage, not Libby, that first provided the information.
Armitage was not indicted.
Yet Sandy Berger stole documents from the U.S. government, later shredding those documents, and has yet to face any significant repercussions for his crimes. Those documents detailed the Clinton Administration's inaction on loads of intelligence information that indicated the U.S. was the target of a major terrorist attack--documents that were supposed to go to the 9/11 Commission for scrutiny but which were mysteriously taken and shredded by a member of Bill Clinton's inner circle.
Word has come this week that Hillary Rodham Clinton is fighting with all her might to stay out of court on charges of possible illegal campaign contributions that found their way into her coffers.
Add to all of this the fact that the Democrats gave us the very first Muslim Congressman, who was endorsed by the terrorist-front-organization CAIR, and insisted that he swear in on a copy of the Koran. Congressman Ellison, ironically, tried to get a terrorist released from prison back in the late 70s and early 80s--a terrorist that had attempted to murder Diane Feinstein's daughter by placing a pipe bomb underneath her window.
It is this very same Senator Feinstein who testified before Congress in 1995 that she had armed herself with a concealed handgun in the aftermath of the bombing attempt, although she is one of the fiercest anti-gun bigots in Congress. It seems that Feinstein's view is that average citizens should not have the same rights and privileges of America's left-wing ruling class.
Today's revelation, which by the way was NOT reported on the three network news programs, shows that Feinstein personally benefited from her work on the Senate subcommittee that oversaw the awarding of military construction contracts. This makes her as corrupt as Conyers.
The Executive Branch of government is given the power by the Constitution to hold investigations, including investigations into Congressional corruption. Under Constitutional law, the three branches of government are EQUAL. Perhaps it is time for the Bush administration to open investigations into mass corruption in Congress.
I can think of at least a dozen who should be expelled from the body outright.

Newt's Confession
Washington, DC (TLS). Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich confessed to evangelical Christian leader James Dobson and his massive radio audience that he had an affair during the 1990s while he served in Congress. Gingrich stated that he had recognized his wrongdoing and had asked God to forgive him.
Newt is to be congratulated and affirmed for his honesty.
The reason why Newt's confession rings authentic and thus rises above that of most politicians is that in other cases such confessions come only after one is 'caught with their pants down.' Newt had nothing to gain and nothing to lose in making this public confession to a deed that has gone relatively unnoticed. It is not like someone in the media had caught the former Congressman in a compromising situation and was hounding him about the truth of the misdeeds. This confession came out of the blue, under no pressure from anyone to talk about it.
In addition, Newt's confession is further significant in that the affair took place during Bill Clinton's impeachment hearings--hearings of which Gingrich was a part. Being basically a deeply spiritual man at the core of his being, this fact more than likely haunted Newt for all these years. While castigating Bill Clinton's dalliances with Monica Lewinsky, he himself was engaged in an adulterous affair.
Thus, the confession was an exercise in the cleansing of the soul.
No doubt, most of James Dobson's listeners, and the Christian community in general, can be very forgiving when a wayward soul makes such a stark and honest confession. However, the problem is not with the evangelical Christian community but with hypocritical Democrats should Newt decide to seek the Republican nomination for President.
Democrats in Congress have already shown the populace time and again that they have no qualms at all about vilifying a Republican for doing what they defended a Democrat for doing. The Democrat mantra is, 'If we do it, it's ok, but if THEY do it, it's wrong.'
Look at how many Democrats sit in positions of leadership in Congress who have terrible legal and ethical stains on their records--Kennedy, Conyers, Reid, Leahy, Murtha, and about a dozen more. Yet they thought Scooter Libby should be in jail for 'outing' an operative who everyone in town already knew about and who was not even a covert operative to begin with.
Conyers on the other hand broke federal campaign laws.
Thus, in spite of the fact that the Democrats gave us Bill 'Cigars' Clinton, Gerry 'I Love Under-Age Boys' Studds, and the like, you can bet your bottom dollar that they will have a field-day with Newt's confession to an affair while he was presiding over impeachment hearings on Bill Clinton.
One can imagine all sorts of nightmarish, tasteless, and downright sleazy attack ads aimed at Newt. Christians forgive but Democrats need campaign fodder. No matter how vehemently they defended Bill Clinton and Gerry Studds, they will turn right around and attempt to make Newt into the Devil himself.
The Gingrich confession may well work to Newt's favor in the long-run. We shall see. But there are deep and treacherous waters here that will have to be navigated.
By the way, it is not totally coincidental that former Tennessee Senator and TV Star Fred Thompson announced Sunday he may seek the Republican nomination. Here is a man with solid conservative credentials, with instant name recognition, and with little excess baggage, who could well become the 'dark horse' candidate who rises to the top in a hurry.
Stay tuned. It's really getting interesting out there.

Cowardly Senate Dems Seek to 'Vietnamize' Iraq
Washington, DC (TLS). Cowardly Senate Democrats have crafted a plan that will effectively 'Vietnamize' the War in Iraq, leading to an abject American failure and defeat. This is not surprising given that many of the leading Democrat operatives in the Senate were very much present during the Viet Nam War era. Senators Kerry, Kennedy, Leahy, and company would force the President to change course in Iraq much as the Democrat-controlled Congress did to Richard Nixon in the early 1970s.
Yes, it is Viet Nam all over again, but only because these cowards, who somehow exhibit a fatalistic desire for America to lose, want it to be.
Senator Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, is expected to introduce a bill that would effectively revoke the broad powers Congress gave to the President in conducting the War on Terror. They also wish to prevent the President from protecting U.S. soldiers by forbidding attacks on Iran, the single biggest threat to world security on the planet today.
Thus, by refusing to allow the President to go after Iranian terrorists who murder our troops and who pose a threat to Israel, Europe, and the free world, the Democrats are once again playing right into the hands of America's enemies.
They should bring out Hanoi Jane to make the announcement of the new bill.
My, that certainly would cause us to wax nostalgic once again--to relive those glorious moments in American history when Liberals made excuses for Communist thugs and when our beloved Hanoi Jane went to North Viet Nam and committed treason.
It truly is Viet Nam all over again.
And it is very clear that present-day Democrats still have a death-wish for America. Somehow their collective guilt and self-loathing as a result of whatever deep-seated psychopathic motivations explain their behavior still drive them to wish to see their own country humiliated.
This time, however, that loony-'toons motivation will in all likelihood result in thousands if not millions of deaths at the hands of Iranian terrorists.

Senate Fails in Resolution Attempt
Washington, DC (TLS). The U.S. Senate has failed to pass a resolution that would express disapproval for President Bush's tactics in the War in Iraq. In a rare Saturday vote, the Senate failed for a second time to pass a non-binding resolution expressing disapproval of the War.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution this week expressing disapproval of the War, largely upon partisan lines.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, stated that he would not re-introduce such legislation for a third time. However, we can expect Senate Democrats to get their point across where it hurts--by inserting such disapprovals in appropriations bills that will be aimed at withdrawing the funds from our troops on the ground, as a means of getting the President to withdraw the military from the region.
Thus, the battle is far from over. Democrats in the past have never hesitated to use the power of the purse-strings to slap at the military, forcing Presidents from Richard Nixon to Ronald Reagan to withdraw U.S. support for causes that directly impact national security and the security of the world. We can fully expect them to attempt this underhanded tactic yet again, which will lead to a rush of terrorism in the Middle East, the mortal endangerment of Israel, and bringing the world to the brink of nuclear war.
