Iraq just held a peaceful, democratic election. This would not have been possible had it not been for George W. Bush and the U.S. military, that basically faced-down worldwide criticism in order to depose a barbaric dictator and set up the tools necessary to form a democracy in a dangerous part of the world.

But did our illustrious Bolshevik-in-Chief, 'Comrad Hussein,' thank our military and U.S. policy for this historic breakthrough in human history?

Don't make me laugh so hard that I go into a breathless spasm.

This numbskull isn't going to thank the military for jack-shit. And he certainly isn't going to admit his predecessor did something right.

Instead, the Bolshevik thanked...and get this...the United Nations.

You read that right. He thanked the very body that was so opposed to deposing Saddam that it referred to George W. Bush as the most dangerous man in the world.

Let me tell you something, you boneheaded idiot, had it not been for the United States military and Mr. Bush, Saddam would still be in power in Iraq and there would be NO democratic elections.

So, why are you thanking the U.N., you raving Communist pinko? They had absolutely nothing...zilch...nada...to do with the peaceful, democratic elections Iraq is enjoying today.

But you can bet your last Commie in Obama's administration, my friends, that this is precisely the manner in which liberals will attempt to rewrite history.

I am thus starting an online movement called, 'Flip Obama the Bird.' He deserves it.

You Won't See THIS in the Headlines!

So it turns out Saddam Hussein had tons of uranium or 'yellow cake' which can be used to develop nuclear weapons.

Iraq sold 550 metric tons of the uranium to a Canadian company, and the U.S. government secretly conducted an operation to remove the yellow cake and deposit it in Canada.

But you will never hear or see this in a headline in the mainstream media.

This is despite the fact that Iraq supposedly had no 'weapons of mass destruction' or any of the materials from which to make them. And we all know that the story that Iraq had worked out a deal to buy yellow cake was supposedly 'fabricated' in order to give President Bush an 'excuse' to invade Iraq.

We have been told repeatedly that there was no yellow cake, that Saddam had long ago abandoned his plans to develop nuclear weapons after the Gulf War, and that any suggestion that Iraq had engaged in covert activity to procure yellow cake was a lie.

Well, that 'lie' is now sitting up in a Canadian harbor--all 550 metric tons of it--awaiting shipment to the company that bought the material in order to enhance Canada's development of nuclear energy.

Oh, and by the way, Canada is one of the countries that claimed the yellow cake in Iraq did not exist.

It seems that President Bush has proved his detractors to be the liars.

McCain Castigates Colleagues for Criticizing Hillary

John McCain went out of his way to castigate his Republican colleagues for their criticism of Hillary Clinton. In fact, McCain's words cannot be construed in any other way than outright praise for Bill's wife.

There are many, many reasons as to why John McCain should not be the Republican nominee for President. We do not need to use his praise of Hillary to make that point.

But McCain's words concerning Hillary are an important indication of the mindset of the man.

Hillary's long history of advocating for government-sponsored programs for everything under the sun, including socialized medicine, are well-known. Further, in her book, 'It Takes a Village,' Hillary makes it clear that in her world-view the 'village' is actually the collectivist state that is charged with the ultimate power to raise children, rather than their parents.

One quote from the book makes this point clear: 'There is no such thing as other people's children.'

In addition, Hillary has made no attempt to hide her disdain for American free enterprise, claiming that government should confiscate profits in order to build up a centralized fund for research into alternative fuels.

What, exactly, constitutes too much profit for a corporation that must provide a satisfactory return on the investments by its stockholders?

Take the oil companies, for example. Is a profit of ten cents per gallon too much? What about eighteen cents? Would a profit of fifty cents per gallon be too much?

The big oil companies make a profit of just 13 cents per gallon of gasoline sold. Yet the federal government takes 18.4 cents per gallon in taxes. Add to that local and state taxes, and in California, for example, drivers pay 58.6 cents per gallon in federal and state taxes, and another 8.2% of the purchase price for local taxes in cities such as San Francisco.

When one considers the amount of taxes assessed on gasoline by local, state, and federal governments, the profits of the oil companies pale in comparison.

Yet Hillary and other Democrats are known for condemning the oil companies for their profits while at the same time calling for more taxes on gasoline.

It goes without saying that Hillary is also known for supporting gun control, flip flopping on the War in Iraq, castigating her Democratic opponent Barack Obama for suggesting he would open talks with America's enemies although Hillary herself proposed the exact same thing several months back.

In spite of all of this, John McCain comes to Hillary's defense when his Republican colleagues dare question her record and stance on the issues.

Given McCain's mounting woes within the Republican Party, are his words of support for Hillary an indication, a signal, that perhaps there is a major switch in the making--a deal offered by Hillary that if McCain switches to the Democratic Party she will offer him the role of her running mate in 2008?

We do know that McCain and Hillary are drinking buddies. On a joint trip overseas with a Senate delegation several years back, the two engaged in a dual to see who could drink the most alcohol.

The rumor was that she drank him under the table.

But the point is, the two are good friends, and apparently McCain views Hillary as an ideological ally.

SHOCKER! Only 3% Approve of Congress on the War

Zogby International released a new poll on August 1 which shows that public approval of Congress when it comes to handling the War in Iraq has dipped to a shocking low of 3%.

President Bush received a 24% approval rating on the War in the same poll.

Thus, the one issue that Democrats used to beat Republicans over the head in the 2006 elections has come back to haunt them. At no point during the War in Iraq was the Republican controlled Congress treated to such contempt.

This news is bound to strike fear in the hearts of the Democratic nominees for President, as well as Congressional and Senate Democrats. The Democrats were counting on the War to catapult them into the White House in 2008 and increase their slim majorities in the House and Senate.

Not so fast.

The public, according to the Zogby poll, has 21% more confidence in President Bush' handling of the War than in that of Congress.

And this is not the only bad news for the Democrats. The public overwhelmingly favors supporting our troops by keeping funding at current levels. 42% believe that Congress should continue to fully fund the War, 34% would attach requirements for gradual withdrawal to such funding, while a mere 18% support cutting all funding and bringing the troops home immediately.

The polling data comes on the heels of a series of op-eds in major newspapers last Sunday that quote vehement critics of the War as saying that there has been a distinct turn-around in the past month in Iraq and that the U.S. is certainly capable of winning outright.

These critics were considered close allies in the Democrats' fight to pull the troops out. Now that there has been a marked improvement in Iraq, many believe that the plug has just been pulled on the Democrats' 'slam-dunk' issue.

Thus, my friends, it is way too early to give up hope on the 2008 elections. Not only is there a better than 50-50 chance we will keep the White House, but our prospects for retaking control of Congress get better by the day.

Of Guns, Citizens, and Soldiers

Washington, DC (TLS). A small but vocal minority in America has made its presence known by protesting various and sundry actions of citizens, such as, for example, the erecting of a statue in honor of a fallen Iraq War hero who was from Littleton, Colorado.

Their problem? The statue of the hero depicts him in army fatigues and carrying a gun. A few parents complained that, since the statue is near a school, their children may be put under a 'bad' influence, since the statue 'glorifies war.'

People of this ilk who live by the millions in the San Francisco area were the very ones that prevented a retired navy vessel from being placed in permanent port there, not to mention that they also have banned ROTC programs from city high schools.

Once again, their complaint is that such things 'glorify war.'

Pray tell, what DO they wish to glorify? Cowtowing to terrorists?

War is never a first-choice option. It is not even necessarily a second-choice option. But sometimes it is the ONLY option when the nation is fighting for its very existence against enemies who wish us dead.

As for guns, this nation would be much better off with regard to crime if we taught our youngsters how to be well-trained, proficient, and effective firearms enthusiasts. And as a sport, firearms training is much safer than football, cheerleading, wrestling, or a host of other popular sports among the nation's youth.

Thus, our praise of heroes on the battlefield and of individual citizens who defend themselves with guns against rapists, murderers, and thieves has nothing to do with 'glorifying' war or violence. It's just that most of us appreciate those who fight for their country, and those who have the gumption to prevent thugs from gaining the upper hand.

If ALL Democrats Could Be Like This...

Washington, DC (TLS). Senator Joseph Lieberman, whom the Democrats abandoned during the 2006 election cycle in order to support a fringe-element Leftist anti-war pacifist, has stated in an interview that the U.S. should bomb Iran unless it stops feeding aid to terrorist insurgents in Iran.

If only there were more Democrats like Lieberman...not that Lieberman is a Democrat anymore. He was chased out of the Party by a bunch of extremist nutcases who would rather cow-tow to terrorists than use military force.

The nation needs more statesmen like Lieberman who put national security and honor ahead of personal political gain.

What If Bush Gave the Dems What They Want?

Washington, DC (TLS). For just a brief moment in time, cast aside all of your statesmanship in order to play with me a little game of political strategist...not that all political strategists are bereft of statesmanship, but after all, it is not their job to tell candidates what's best for America. Their job is to tell their clients how to get elected.

Regardless of what you or I might think of the grave danger the situation in Iraq poses for the world and for the United States, for a few moments let's consider some harsh political realities.

Americans are increasingly getting very tired of the war, so much so that all of the latest indicators point to a massive Republican blood-fest in 2008. Internal polling numbers suggest that if we stay on the present course, not only will Democrats pick up even more seats in Congress than they did in 2006, but they will gain the White House as well.

The single issue that is driving voters away from the GOP is the war.

Thus, as political strategists our job is to devise a method for our clients, in this case the Republicans, to regain control of Congress and to keep the White House.

How can we best go about this?

Remember, the end game is to win. We must, at least for a season, put our best sensitivities as Americans on the back burner.

Winning in 2008 involves a straightforward two-pronged strategy. First, we cater to the electorate. We tell them that we did, indeed, succeed in Iraq by deposing an evil dictator and providing the means for a totalitarian state to hold its first democratic elections...with a democratically-crafted Constitution to boot. We then admit that we blew it after that. We miscalculated the strength of the insurgency, and we simply did not have the troop strength on the ground to do the rest of the job.

We tell them, 'We heard your voices. You are weary of our continued presence in Iraq, and you want the boys to come home now.'

And then we bring them home. Just like that.

Second, we send a message to Democrats. We are giving you what you said you wanted. The American people obviously agreed with you that our mission in Iraq is finished. So, whatever consequences arise as a result of our withdrawal will be entirely on your shoulders.

If the entirety of the fledgling Iraqi government falls apart, so be it.
If Iran seizes the government in Iraq, so be it.
If there is mass genocide, murder, and carnage, so be it.
If terrorists find a new safe haven, not only in Iran but also in Iraq, so be it.
If terrorists are emboldened around the world, so be it.
If they go on the offensive again, against our embassies, our aircraft carriers, etc, so be it.
If they send a nuclear bomb to Israel, so be it.
If they decide to attack America on our own soil....

A wise man from the past said, 'In a democracy, the people usually get the government they deserve.'

The question is, are the Democrats prepared to accept full responsibility for whatever calamity befalls the region, our nation, and the world as a result of our departure from Iraq?

Remember, there will be nobody left to blame when the chickens come home to roost.

Are Americans willing to accept whatever consequences occur in the wake of our departure from Iraq?

Remember, in a dangerous world full of terrorists and Islamo-fascists who are intent on either converting the whole world to Islam or killing the infidels who refuse to convert, there are no second chances. If we get this wrong, it may be the very last mistake we make as a free society before the oppressive heavy hand of Muslim extremists make the nation over in the image of Allah.

My friends, every ounce of political shrewdness in my body wants to urge the President to pull out and give the Dems what they want. That way, if calamity befalls the world, there will be no one to blame but them. Yet every ounce of common decency and concern for the future of the world in my body wants to urge the President not only to stay in Iraq but drastically increase the military fire power, including air and sea (i.e., bombs...the big ones).

I suppose it all boils down to this: is this war worth losing the Presidency and more seats in Congress? If not, then it is time to bring 'em home and let the chips fall where they may. But if what we are doing is worth that kind of loss, then it is time to fight this war like the super-power we are. We need to stop playing footsies with the enemy like a bunch of wussies. Fighting to win is not a place for the politically correct.

Buckley Warns Iraq May Bury Republicans

Washington, DC (TLS). The quintessential conservative intellectual, the venerable William F. Buckley, is warning today in a special article in National Review that the War in Iraq has the potential of burying the Republican Party.

All of the signs point to a Republican free-fall of historical proportions over one single issue--the war. The Rasmussen organization, in its latest poll, indicates that the number of people who call themselves Republicans is at its lowest point in 6 years. The only issue that is precipitating the exodus is the War in Iraq.

Public sentiment has turned against the war and against the President. It wasn't so much that they did not see the need to invade Afghanistan or Iraq, but they simply do not believe the Bush administration has conducted the war in an effective and efficient manner. They wanted us in and out in timely fashion.

Buckley indicates that Bush may well be the demise of the Republican Party, not because people do not like him personally but because of the stubbornness exhibited in the face of a growing catastrophe in Iraq, which seems to have no end in sight.

Admittedly, I have been one of the President's most ardent supporters in the War on Terror. I believed that Saddam Hussein had to go. But, I also trust the wisdom of William F. Buckley, who for 50 years has been a steady voice of reason, reliability, and resilience on the conservative side of politics.

In short, I take Buckley's latest warning very seriously. His voice must be heard and heeded in the highest levels of the Republican Party.

Destined for Defeat?

Washington, DC (TLS). The defeatist mentality of many in Congress and some within the general electorate is cause for a creeping malaise of negativism concerning the War in Iraq and the War on Terror. It seems that many are resigned to an American humiliation. Some even hope for such a humiliation.

The offenders are not far to find.

However, Caroline Glick of the Jerusalem Post writes in an excellent article in the Jewish World Review that America's defeat need not be a foregone conclusion. Despite Pelosi's felonious forays into conducting U.S. foreign policy (which is not her job) with terrorist regimes, there is a clear path to victory for the U.S. in the region if we will but put aside our trepidity and get the job done with resolve.

The Fallacy of Failing to Kill the Enemy

Washington, DC (TLS). Although the work we are doing in Iraq is absolutely necessary in fighting the War on Terror, there is no doubt that the Bush Administration made some tactical errors.

Rule Number One in waging war is that we are fighting our enemy because they have sworn to kill us. Therefore, we must kill them first.

This is a basic tenet in any scenario involving self-defense on any level, both personally and corporately as a society.

The Bush Administration made the mistake in thinking it could bring democracy to a region that is overrun by dangerous extremists who don't believe in it. The Koran specifically forbids it and states that the rule of Allah must be implemented within all societies, thus making them theocratic rather than democratic.

Thus, the nations of the Middle East who have embraced the notion of 'free elections' have proceeded to elect themselves right back into tyranny under the rule of extremist factions of Islam. Thomas Jefferson referred to this as 'elective despotism,' which he viewed as a constant danger to liberty. The objective, therefore, is not simply free elections or 'democracy' with no set guidelines to prevent majority rule from running roughshod over basic individual rights.

This is why the United States has a Constitution with a Bill of Rights to prevent the mob rule of a pure democracy from electing to take away individual rights.

Instead of working for free elections in a highly volatile area of the world that is populated with millions of persons who wish to annihilate the West, we should have first killed them.

Yes, that sounds harsh, but it is a basic, irreversible rule of war and self-defense.

To keep your enemy from killing you, which he has sworn to do, you MUST kill him first. Kill or be killed.

The War on Terror should have commenced with a massive, swift, and violent campaign to stop the terrorists in the Middle East by reigning the power from America's mighty arsenal upon them relentlessly. Then, once they were dazed and weakened, and lying in massive piles of rubble, we start the rebuilding process, just as we did in Japan after WWII.

Libby's Prosecution a Travesty of Justice

Washington, DC (TLS). Scooter Libby was found guilty for supposedly 'outing' the identity of a CIA agent whom everyone in Washington knew was a secret operative. The case should have never been prosecuted. And the calls for the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney in the aftermath is the work of demented individuals who would rather see the U.S.A. defeated than to stand up and fight this nation's enemies with courage.

Believe me, we know the truth.

The prosecution of Libby was a sham from the start, perpetrated by individuals inside and outside of government who have a vendetta against the Bush Administration over the War in Iraq. The entire shameful affair was about the War, period.

Activists had to have a scapegoat, a central figure to whom they can affix blame.

They chose Libby, and in turn, they also targeted Cheney.

Libby deserves a Presidential pardon. And while Mr. Bush is at it, he can also pardon those two innocent Border Patrol agents who were falsely accused, again by government bureaucrats who rage out of control.

We need a housecleaning in the bureaucracy of high and mighty government officials who were never elected by the people but act as if they have all the power. They need to be 'clipped off at the gonads.'

Senate Fails in Resolution Attempt

Washington, DC (TLS). The U.S. Senate has failed to pass a resolution that would express disapproval for President Bush's tactics in the War in Iraq. In a rare Saturday vote, the Senate failed for a second time to pass a non-binding resolution expressing disapproval of the War.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution this week expressing disapproval of the War, largely upon partisan lines.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, stated that he would not re-introduce such legislation for a third time. However, we can expect Senate Democrats to get their point across where it hurts--by inserting such disapprovals in appropriations bills that will be aimed at withdrawing the funds from our troops on the ground, as a means of getting the President to withdraw the military from the region.

Thus, the battle is far from over. Democrats in the past have never hesitated to use the power of the purse-strings to slap at the military, forcing Presidents from Richard Nixon to Ronald Reagan to withdraw U.S. support for causes that directly impact national security and the security of the world. We can fully expect them to attempt this underhanded tactic yet again, which will lead to a rush of terrorism in the Middle East, the mortal endangerment of Israel, and bringing the world to the brink of nuclear war.
