"Why Socialism Fails"

Socialism always fails. You know that. I know that. But some people remain unconvinced despite the record of history.

Jennifer Weber has done us all a big favor by going back a few years to dig out a video of the great economist Milton Friedman explaining to talk show host Phil Donahue why Socialism is a system designed for abject failure.

The video is only 2 minutes and well-worth the time.

"Devastating but Accurate"

It is important to note from the start that the struggle between liberty and socialism will never end, at least not in our lifetimes. If by chance it does, it will be because evil has triumphed. As long as people are free to make their own choices, some of those choices will always be for self-destruction or slavery (moral masochism). That is just the nature of human beings. However, once the slavery of socialism is self-imposed through trickery or stealth, there are no more choices. That is the weakness of a free people. The weakness of socialism is that it cannot be revealed for what it truly is until it is too late to stop it. Like all things evil, it cannot stand the light of day.

Perspective on the Growing Outrage in America

An ill wind is blowing across America. Citizen outrage is brewing just below the surface, one symptom of which is the violent acts of loonies, such as the one who went on a shooting spree yesterday at the Holocaust Museum.

But this growing movement is not violent.

Read all about it in my latest column at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

You'll be glad you did.

Growing Momentum of GM, Chrysler Boycott

The citizen revolt against the nationalization of private business and large corporations is beginning to express itself in support for a boycott of GM and Chrysler.

At today's Columbia Conservative Examiner, we will take a look at the growing momentum for this boycott, including a new Rasmussen Poll that indicates rising support.

Thanks for reading!

LIBERTY ALERT! Feds Target Small Banks!

Via Matt Drudge, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is now targeting small community banks for federal bailout funds.

Two questions arise:

1. Will the government force some banks to take the funds as they did with the nation's largest banks, whether or not they need or want the money?

2. Will the government force itself upon these small banks as part owner, as it did with the large banks?

The socialist assault on America's financial institutions continues...

Human Liberty Thrown Under the Bus

I hate to break it to you, but your friends, family, and co-workers who may be Socialist in their thinking are more than willing to sacrifice all of your rights--that's right, throw ALL of your liberties under the bus--in order to achieve their goals.

This is Communism-Socialism's dirty little secret.

And this is my topic of discussion today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

In order to get 'government mandated healthcare for all' and government-controlled endeavor previously handled by the private sector, they are more than willing to take your guns, free speech, and everything else.

I encourage you to click on the link above and read. And pass it along. Thanks!

How 'Bout a Salary Cap for Actors, Sports Figures?

Oscar-award winning Actor Sidney Poitier stated on Thursday that Hollywood CEOs should have their salaries capped just like banking executives who accept bailout money from the federal government.

In fact, he stated that ALL CEOs should have their salaries capped at $500,000 per year whether they accept bailout money or not.

You see, my friends, the vermin Socialists crawl out from under the woodwork when somebody like Obama gets into the White House.

I have a question for Mr. Poitier. How 'bout a salary cap for actors and sports figures too? Huh?

I mean, the money you people make is 'obscene,' to borrow a term from your fellow liberals who describe the money CEOs make.

Answer me this, Mr. Poitier. Is it acceptable for a baseball player to sign a contract worth over 100 million bucks, such as is common today? Is it 'morally and ethically' proper for an actor to make 10 million bucks for one movie?

I doubt Hollywood types like Mr. Poitier would accept any such caps that they readily prescribe for others. But if for some odd reason they are open to such an idea, I have a suggestion. Let's cap actors' salaries at $100,000 per year no matter how many pictures they make. Let's set sports figures' salaries at a maximum of $200,000 per year.

With all that money we are saving just from actors and sports figures alone we could probably bump up garbage collectors' wages to $60,000 per year.

How's that for 'fairness' Mr. Poitier?

RINO Support for Nationalization of Banks

RINOS, such as Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham, have stated that they may support a plan being considered to nationalize the nation's troubled banks.

And this is the subject of my column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Apparently a plan is being considered in Congress that is modeled after 'the Swedish Plan,' which Barack Obama is said to support.

Socialism is on the march, my friends, but not without protest. You will find info about that too in my new column.

I encourage you to read it and spread the word. And thanks!

Democrats Launch Petition Against Rush Limbaugh

Because he stated that he hopes Barack Obama fails in his attempt to make the U.S. a Socialist nation, Democrats in Congress are circulating a petition against Rush Limbaugh.

This is an unprecedented move by a political party against a private citizen.

Liberals are misrepresenting Limbaugh's statement, claiming that he simply wants Obama to fail for the heck of it. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The failure of the Democrats to state up-front and honestly why Rush wants Obama to fail is very telling.

Any patriotic American who cares about the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, human liberty, and free enterprise wants Obama to fail. No one wants him to succeed except for those who want to topple American society from top to bottom, leaving our values on the ash-heap of human history.

Why She Won't Be Watching the Inauguration

I'm not going to watch the inauguration. I love my country, but don't think I want to watch another 150 million spent in what is proving to be not a solemn rite of passage, but what looks more and more like the confirmation of the divine right of kings. I don't wish to celebrate another day in which I see our country moving further away from that which made it great.

I fully concur! Read the entire stunning and beautifully written piece by Brigid at Home on the Range.

Several weeks ago I stated here on The Liberty Sphere that I will not be watching the Inauguration this year as a matter of principle. I will not and cannot support any election to public office of an individual that so thoroughly flies in the face of the undergirding principles of the U.S. Constitution and the Founding Fathers of this nation.

Besides that, I don't think I can stomach watching yet another juvenile display of 'professional journalists' who swoon, oooo and ahhhh, get feelings running up their leg like Chris Matthews, or grow all flirty and wet like Katie Couric.

Barack Obama has made enough statements questioning large portions of the Constitution, the wisdom of our Founders, and even the Declaration of Independence (he thinks we need a new one that is free of 'oppression' whatever the heck that means), that he is at the very least suspect.

He is determined to take the nation down a path it is has never tread before--the path to total government control of the means of production, beginning with the financial sector.

And no, I do not 'wish him well and hope he succeeds' in this endeavor.

Count me from day one as a member of the loyal and persistent opposition. I will oppose every single initiative Obama brings forth, unless and until he wakes up from being so drunk with power that he begins to realize that the citizens who love liberty will not stand for his chicanery and then wisely changes his ways.

I am making it a point to be down at the range while he's being sworn in, firing off some rounds with one of those evil, despicable handguns he's been wanting to ban all his political career.

I can think of no greater way to usher in the Obama Presidency than for gunowners to boycott the Inauguration and head for the firing range.

FEDS TAKE CONTROL OF BANK OF AMERICA

Ominous news hit the financial world on Friday as the U.S. Government took controlling interest of the embattled Bank of America.

This is nationalization of industry, which fits the definition of 'socialism.' And yes, my dear little dumbed down lame-brains of the public schools, socialism is BAD.

In order to address a crisis of its own making, the U.S. Government has abandoned the capitalism that made this country great and embarked on a failed course of government control of business and industry.

I have had great concern about the Bank of America for quite some time anyway over its policy of providing financial services to illegal aliens and its liberal, haphazard lending practices.

If it can't survive on its own with its own business plan, then it should be allowed to fail.

But the government is so concerned about protecting the necks of the few on the backs of the many (the taxpayers) that it is willing to forsake every sacred principle this country has always stood for.

And, as usual, people blame Bush. But Congressional Democrats created this mess, and the President-elect supports not only a modest bailout Bush has embraced but is proposing to add nearly a trillion more to it, which we are already being told is not enough.

When IS enough really enough?

Second Amendment News Roundup for 1/8/09

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

Like a good little Socialist, Obama stated today that 'only government can fix what ails us.' No, Sir. Only autonomous individuals who take responsibility for their own actions can fix what ails us. CNS News has the story.

Nicki provides some slightly strong-worded commentary on this government fix business.

Sebastian responds to charges that the prags are not doing enough to pressure the NRA on the Holder nomination:
*The Holder Battle and the NRA
*Political Capital--What Is It?
*Political Capital--How It's Spent

Codrea's War on Guns points to an NRA alert. The NRA's stance concerning the Holder nomination is problematic, as you will see below.

Sipsy Street Irregulars posts Jeff Knox's response to Sebastian's take on why the NRA hasn't been as forceful or public with it's opposition to Holder.

Western Rifle Shooters Association weighs in on the subject with 'Holder and the NRA.'

Mindful Musings issues an urgent call to NRA members to contact Angus McClellan of the NRA-ILA to urge them to do all they can to oppose Holder. All the contact info is there.

Gun Rights Examiner: 'Another Reason to Hold Holder' by David Codrea.

Days of our Trailers says Holder's confirmation is a done deal, and, given the makeup of the current Congress, no doubt he's right. The issue is what we do afterward. Read it!

Say Uncle reports that ACORN wants background checks for ammunition purchases.

Robb Allen has a buddy in Israel and says he provides a front lines point of view on the current conflict...as well as gun issues.

Armed and Safe posts some encouraging news that 2 gun manufacturers are pulling out of California.

2A Musing reports on a case of private property infringement in what has recently become a new mecca for leftwing politics in the South. In fact, some are already calling this state the South's California.

Blogstitution provides excellent reading on who are the REAL Nazis in the Gaza conflict.

Gun Pundit comments on a thread he found at the Pennsylvania Firearms Owners Association forum that asks, 'what laws should gun owners be pushing in '09?'

John Jacob H posts an interesting follow-up to the story of the Obama birth certificate issue, which, in my humble opinion, has not been adequately settled.

Pax Parabellum reports that the Islamic terrorists that attacked India had direct connections to Pakistan. Should Pakistan therefore be designated as a state sponsor of terror? Maybe so!

Michelle Malkin points to a riveting UCLA study that shows FDR worsened the Great Depression by his economic policies--policies that Obama intends to resurrect.

Texas Fred adds his commentary to the debate on Obama's economic stimulus package.

Walls of the City provides excellent reading on modern attitudes toward the carry of firearms.

The Rustmeister says that Glocks aren't manly. I tend to agree. Women love 'em, which is fine. But as for me, I prefer S&W or Taurus .38 police-and-military specials or their .357 Magnums.

ARRA News Service says that Obama's pick for CIA will gut our intelligence-gathering capability. Say hello to more terrorism on our own soil!

U.S. Senator Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma) has been a friend to conservatives and gun owners. But Mike McCarville wonders if the Senator has had enough of Washington. This is a MUST-read analysis!

MOWCA Blog posts an intriguing read on Israel's tactical analysis regarding which structures to bomb in Gaza. Read it all! (H/t to Paul Davis).

Atlas Shrugs reports that Hamas rigged the UN school with explosives! So, then, does that make Hamas the real murderers of 'innocent civilian children?'

On the Defensive x 2

Well well well. It seems that both Barack Obama and Pastor Rick Warren are on the defensive concerning the Presidential Inauguration.

Both have been under fire, Obama for inviting an anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage evangelical to give the invocation, and Warren for accepting the invitation from a rabidly pro-abortion and pro-gay rights President-elect.

As for Obama, the choice was one of political expedience and payback. Warren in all likelihood delivered some evangelical votes for Obama that otherwise would have gone to McCain.

But Warren's involvement in the entire Obama-mania is much more complicated and problematic.

Obviously the Baptist Pastor believes that Christians share with Obama a fairly liberal social agenda that places government programs at the center of dealing with poverty, AIDS, and hunger.

He is absolutely, positively 100% wrong.

I know something about Warren's history. His self-admitted mentor in the faith is the late Dr. W.A. Criswell, PhD., former Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas, one of the first mega-churches in the nation.

Criswell would turn over in his grave if he knew Warren was collaborating with liberals such as Obama and Hillary Clinton. He would also sharply disagree with Warren that Christianity in any way teaches government intervention in matters that should be left to individual initiative.

As a Baptist I feel free to say this. Rick Warren is an embarrassment to Baptists. His views on government social programs are entirely antithetical to everything I believe as a Christian.

Frankly, when a Christian minister is forced to 'explain his actions' and 'defend himself' to a vast segment of the faithful, I take that as a pretty good indicator that the minister in question has taken the wrong path, although there are certainly exceptions to that.

I hope Pastor Warren has lots of fun up there at the Socialist-fest in Washington on January 20. I, for one, won't be watching.

Obama, Dodd Provide Glimpse of Coming Socialism

Both Barack Obama and Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) stated on Sunday that GM's CEO needs to be replaced.

Well, hot damn!

Who died and made the great Obama and Dodd god?

Government has no business telling business who should hold the top positions in their various enterprises...that is, unless that government is rank Socialist.

The person who holds the reigns at GM is a decision made by the Board and the major stockholders. The stockholders own the company, not the government. Therefore, government has absolutely no role in dictating to a business who it should choose as its CEO.

The statements of Obama and Dodd on Sunday are merely a foreshadowing of things to come. The government has not given the Big 3 automakers a single dime of bailout money, yet they are already dictating management decisions.

Just think of what they will do once they get their foot in the door of the Big 3 with a hefty multi-billion dollar bailout--complete with enough strings attached from Washington to fly a billion kites.

Socialism--Evil Concealed by Money

My favorite intellectual, the great Dr. Walter Williams, economist extraordinaire and professor of economics at George Mason University, has written one of the most important pieces on Socialism one could ever hope to find.

As a system that is inherently evil, Socialism conceals its sinister objectives and methods with money.

To get our minds stirred to actually think, Dr. Williams entices us with this nifty item:

Evil acts can be given an aura of moral legitimacy by noble-sounding socialistic expressions such as spreading the wealth, income redistribution or caring for the less fortunate. Let's think about socialism.

Imagine there's an elderly widow down the street from you. She has neither the strength to mow her lawn nor enough money to hire someone to do it. Here's my question to you that I'm almost afraid for the answer: Would you support a government mandate that forces one of your neighbors to mow the lady's lawn each week? If he failed to follow the government orders, would you approve of some kind of punishment ranging from house arrest and fines to imprisonment?

Read the entire article HERE. Ponder over it slowly, and let it sink in. Let your children and grandchildren read it. Send it to as many as you can think of.

America needs to be reminded of the greatness and superiority of our free enterprise system and the inherent evil embodied by Socialism, which passes itself off as 'right' and 'moral' by its supposed concern for 'helping the unfortunate.'

Taking from one group of citizens to give to another group of citizens is robbery, and the last time I checked, robbery is a crime.

I Make No Apologies

It seems I have taken some heat in certain circles of the blogosphere for saying that 'Barack Obama will never be my President.'

I make absolutely no apology for saying it, and I still adhere to that sentiment as much if not more today than before the election.

As far as I'm concerned, there can be no compromise with Socialists. That is my political line in the sand.

Socialists-Marxists-Communists-Fascists-Nazis are all part and parcel of the totalitarian movement that has witnessed not only the greatest governmental failures in the world but the the most heinous murders of innocent dissenting citizens in the history of mankind.

And this is why I maintain that the 'choice' of Barack Obama for President is illegitimate. There is absolutely no way that anyone with such blatant disdain and disregard for the Constitution could ever be a legitimate President, no matter what the electorate says.

As I was watching local television news earlier, a woman was interviewed who said it was time for all sides to 'put aside their differences and come together in unity for change.'

Unify behind WHAT? Change WHAT, exactly?

An economic program that will probably push the country over the precipice into another Great Depression? Nope!

A policy toward the War in Iraq that ignores the grave dangers Islamic terrorists in the region pose to the West? Nope!

An utter disdain for the U.S. Constitution that maintains that because it does not 'redistribute wealth' by robbing from the haves to give to the have-nots, it is thus flawed? Nope!

A tax program that uses the IRS as a welfare agency by giving 45 million Americans who pay no taxes at all a check from the government? Nope!

A healthcare proposal so drastic that it will overwhelm the system, forcing healthcare rationing on millions of our Senior adults so that 20 million illegal aliens can get medical care? Nope!

A disregard for human life that is so blatant that it withholds medical care from infants that survive botched abortion attempts by starving them to death in dark closets? HELL, no!

So tell me, what, exactly, can we 'unify' behind?

As far as I can tell there is nothing in the Obama plan that can be supported by ANY thinking, principled and ethical American citizen.

The woman in the television interview, by the way, stated that she didn't think people who voted for McCain would 'put their differences aside in order to strive for unity behind Obama.'

You bet your sweet patootie we won't, sister!

Count me as one of the loyal opposition from top to bottom. I will fight tooth and toenail the Obama-Democratic plan to ruin this country.

And frankly, if we had a better candidate at the top of the ticket, we would not be in this position on November 5.

Yes, I supported McCain, but reluctantly, as you will remember if you read this blog regularly. I felt that a vote for McCain gave us the best chance at keeping Obama out of the White House.

But that doesn't mean I was a big McCain supporter. My decision to endorse him and vote for him was purely tactical.

In fact, I have always been one of McCain's biggest critics. But, for better or for worse, I made my decision based upon the hope that Obama would lose.

We can only hope that in 2012 we get someone like Sarah Palin or Bobby Jindal, who will carry on in the great conservative tradition of Ronald Reagan, Barry Goldwater, William F. Buckley, Jr., and many more.

But until then, I am geared up and ready to fight the onslaught of massive government expansion and intrusion under Obama and the Democrats. And yes, I will fight McCain and other RINOS as well if they are intent on 'unifying' behind Obama.
