Second Amendment News Roundup for 9/28/09

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

David Codrea calls our attention to a documentary highlighting gun rights activists in this must-read of the day.

From Kurt Hofmann: 'Are Opponents of Amtrak Gun Bill Supporting Terrorism?' and 'If You're Going to Preserve Gun Rights, Shouldn't You......Preserve Gun Rights?'

Western Rifle Shooters Association has several MUST-reads today that you would be wise to delve into: 'Evans-Pritchard: Money Figures Shows There's Trouble Ahead,' 'Malignant Narcissism,' and the doozy of them all on How the Soviets Went About Subverting the Free World Press (chilling lessons for the US today!).

From Vanderboegh: 'So What, and Why, Are They Still Hiding About Oklahoma City? Eric Holder Knows. I Think I'll Ask Him.'

Texas Fred presents the 'douchebag of the week' award to you-know-who. And he has some VERY good reasons for naming this person for this high honor. I concur.

Standing By comments on an excellent article pointing to the latest info on just how wrong the 'global warming' crowd has been. Read it all.

Way Up North posts a must-see video on America from 'Celtic Woman.' This group of exceptional singers/musicians is a breath of fresh air. If you've never seen them or listened to them, it's time you became acquainted.

Conservative Libertarian Outpost has yet another MUST-read today concerning 'Obamanomics' and its consequences of placing us on a road to financial ruin.

Days of our Trailers provides an excellent gun show roundup from this past weekend. Pics included.

Brigid is one of my favorite people, not to mention that her writing skills are next to none. Here she writes about fixing trust issues with guns. Great info!

From John Jacob H: 'Have you Told UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp to Resign? Why Not!?' This intriguing case just begs for investigations.

Squeaks keeps us posted on the life of a gun-loving young college student, and don't forget to read her entries at the Memphis Pets Examiner (her link is at the top left of her blog).

Alphecca reports that the Left wants the American taxpayers to pick up the tab for healthcare for illegal aliens.

Every Blade of Grass perfectly captures my sentiments on why I left the Republican Party back in the 90s. When the Party leadership forsook the basic principles of Reagan, I bolted. And until they determine to get back to those principles of conservatism, I will remain out in Independent Land.

Free in Idaho posts the lolly-palooza 'quote of the day.' Read it, meditate on it, and then ACT.

Say Uncle found some great info on self-defense handguns.

Sebastian notes that the state-run-media is telling gun owners to 'lighten up.' Yeah, right. The day I 'lighten up' about the present assault on liberty in my own country is the day I am either in the grave or have gone slap-raving nuts. Some say I am already the latter. Don't say a word, and don't put silly comments here about that, either! lol (I know some of you too well).

Ride Fast and Shoot Straight tells us the various reasons why he prefers the South. Spot-on, brother!

Notoriously Conservative provides essential reading from someone who read the entire ObamaCare bill, HR 3200, and has the truth about these healthcare bills and what they are really designed to do. It's even worse than what we expected, folks!

Tam observes that we keep going 'down the spiral' and comments on the draconian restrictions on rights. Take a look!

By the way, Uncle posts this video that has nothing to do with guns or politics, but I sure enjoyed watching it....

Brigid gives us a serving of 'Self-Defense--A Dinnertime Reminder.'

JR provides us with the latest update on his adventure of a lifetime.

Sebastian reports that the latest gun shop to fall target to the jack booted government thugs of the ATF is closing up for good, I am sorry to say.

David Codrea says that now politicians all across the country are beating down the door to take his questionnaire for candidates on gun rights.

Kurt Hofmann presents a good read entitled, 'Gun Rights Are For Everyone.'

Tam notes that ACORN really hasn't thought through their intention to sue the young undercover investigators who discovered ACORN's corruption.

Billy Beck posts spot-on commentary on the public school teacher leading students to sing praises to Obama.

Free In Idaho says that the gun manufacturer Remington is celebrating quite a milestone in its production line.

Standing By points to an article on ACORN and Barack Obama that's worth a look. Read it all.

Walls of the City has 'a civilized man's traveling case.'

Billy Beck: "Shut the F**k Up, It's Not Your Money"

Billy Beck has somewhat of a sharply-worded response to an imbecile who asks a question on healthcare spending--a question that is a moot point if you believe the premise that before gov't can spend anything, it has to confiscate it from the taxpayers first.

I've been waiting for someone to say it just as BB does right here.

"I Am A Shooter"

I am a shooter. Like those that have gone before me, I am strong and driven, conservative, yet free. I am fiercely individualist, yet connected with my brothers and sisters in arms, family people at home and in the field. I compete with good spirit, yet bond with courage. I celebrate our successes and mourn our fallen. I am your friend or your neighbor. I am your mother, your sister. I am charged with a reverent responsibility and I never forget it, nor should you.

The above excerpt is from Brigid at Home on the Range in her superb piece entitled, "I Am A Shooter."

Do yourself a favor and go over there to read the entire thing. You'll be glad you did.

"Devastating but Accurate"

It is important to note from the start that the struggle between liberty and socialism will never end, at least not in our lifetimes. If by chance it does, it will be because evil has triumphed. As long as people are free to make their own choices, some of those choices will always be for self-destruction or slavery (moral masochism). That is just the nature of human beings. However, once the slavery of socialism is self-imposed through trickery or stealth, there are no more choices. That is the weakness of a free people. The weakness of socialism is that it cannot be revealed for what it truly is until it is too late to stop it. Like all things evil, it cannot stand the light of day.

A Foreshadowing of Things to Come?

Read this leaflet carefully, as it may save your life or the life of a relative or friend.

In the next few months, personnel and facilities of some or all of the governmental agencies at the local, state, and Federal level listed below will be attacked and destroyed by free American men and women. Those personnel and facilities have been built and used over the past decade to deprive Americans of their basic human rights, including the right to be free from unreasonable arrests, searches, and seizures. The operations of these personnel and facilities violate the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. As such, we are determined to destroy the totalitarian vermin who have placed their interests ahead of their fellow Americans, as well as all of the tyrants' tools possessed by those traitors.

This is an adaptation from a series of leaflets the U.S. sent out to Japanese citizens prior to the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Some believe the day is coming when patriots will be warning fellow citizens of the dire circumstances to come, unless government immediately ceases its assault on our liberties and the Constitution.

'Southern Conservatives Against Tyranny and Socialism'

So, you think maybe that the notion of millions of armed citizens in the heartland who are completely fed up with the current goons who run the government is just the fear-mongering overkill of the paranoid?

Think again.

A group calling itself, The 5th Column Tyranny Response Corp--Southern Conservatives Against Tyranny and Socialism, is alive and well.

Take a look for the group's goals, objectives, and methods.

Senator Graham Betrays Gun Owners

Senator Lindsey Graham, R-SC, has betrayed the trust of gun owners--and that means most of the people who voted for him in his U.S. Senate re-election bid in 2008--by signing onto a bill, S.391, that would create a central, federally-controlled anti-gun database.

If your pediatrician asks your child about guns in your home, and your child is honest about your gun collection, that information will go into the database. So will the fact that your grandfather, who fought in this nation's wars and protected its streets, was recently diagnosed with depression. He will not longer be allowed to purchase a firearm.

Read the whole thing at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Be prepared to get fighting mad. This bill is an onslaught against American liberty!

Follow-Up to 'Don't Tread on Me' Controversy

It seems that the veracity of the story about the man in Louisiana who was detained by law enforcement due to his bumper-sticker that says 'Don't Tread on Me' is in dispute.

As a follow-up I noticed that World Net Daily has a major, exclusive story on this matter.

The WND reporter contacted the persons involved in Ball, Louisiana, and spoke directly with the person detained by police and his sister-in-law. Their names are being withheld by WND.

Contrary to the opinion of some, I have not found WND to be untrustworthy. I do admit they publish stories that sometimes can be hard to verify due to the extreme sensitive nature of their content...and the fact that you won't find these types of stories reported by anyone else.

And this is why I see their value.

On the other hand, Texas Fred is a blogger that I trust. He says that the story is not true.

Here is Fred's reasoning:

Knowing the cops in that part of the country, the ONLY thing they would have said about that flag is, 'Hey man, where can I get one of those??'

Unless, and on this I am only speculating, unless this happened to be a Dem and/or a Black officer, and then, yeah, this could be real...

Those guys in that part of Louisiana are still flying the Stars and Bars and have *Be a MAN, Join the Klan* stickers on the back of the pickup!!

Something about this story stinks man, not your part, you're reporting from the source, I am going on experience, and the fact that I am from Louisiana, it's my home, and the fact that our entire family, both sides, mine and the wife, are cops, past, present and retired, and the Louisiana branch have ALL called BS on this one...

Just sayin'...

I have absolutely no reason to doubt or question Fred's integrity as he has been a stellar example of honesty in the time I have known him.

But I do believe there is more to this story than what meets the eye. It may not have been Ball police officers that pulled him over. It could have been any number of law enforcement agencies--county, state, etc.

I am also certain that they would not pull him over for merely displaying the bumper sticker, although that may have been an unspoken, underlying reason for doing so. They are not going to subject themselves to legal and disciplinary action, but cops use all sorts of legitimate excuses to pull over drivers, when their ulterior motive is something different.

We also must not forget that the Obama administration sent out a memo to all law enforcement agencies in the country alerting them to the now-infamous 'potential homegrown terrorist' allegation directed at patriotic Americans.

One thing is for certain, if the story turns out to be false, I WILL retract it. Until we get clear proof, stay tuned...

It's The Free Speech, Stupid!

Apparently freedom of expression is a luxury, not a right, that can be exercised unfettered only by the 'chosen ones' of the politically correct.

This is the subject of my article today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Give it a read. This is one of the most important, yet controversial, subjects of our time.

Bill Quietly Becomes Law That Forbids Opposition! (UPDATE)

Note: Scroll down for an important update!

Have you ever heard of legislation in the United States of America that forbids any opposition to it?

Well, we now have it, and it is the law of the land, courtesy of the thugs in the White House and Congress.

Read all about it in my column at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Thank-you.

Update notice! I went to the Thomas site and downloaded the entire bill from top to bottom so that I could examine it myself. Indeed, the amendment that prevented opposition was included in the final document as a provision to prevent employees in these agencies from engaging in partisan political activity while on the job. I stand corrected.

"Obama's Communist Attraction"

Learning from J. Edgar Hoovers, “A Study Of Communism,” the parallels between the attractions of communism presented (economic, sociological, political and psychological) and the current Obama administrations appeal are startling. Hopefully this may help those who worship the dangerous administration, reflect on just what it is they are being led to. The destruction of every freedom they now take for granted.

There is absolutely no doubt that Obama has an affinity for Communist ideals. This article lays out in striking detail the systematic plan of Obama and company to infringe on the liberties of American citizens.

'True Grit'

For those like me who adhere to the values and principles embodied by the great John Wayne and the characters he portrayed, here is a masterpiece of exceptional writing that will take you back to an era in America when we were proud to be Americans--strong, self-sufficient, no-nonsense and outspoken advocates for individual liberty.

Brigid, the author of the piece who describes herself as a 'Celtic lass on a small homestead on the Plains, is an extraordinary writer who creates vivid scenes in our minds with the power of words.

In the post linked above, she took me back to a by-gone era of my boyhood and youth, as I idolized John Wayne and aspired to be like him.

I never quite reached my goal, but I still adhere to the values of those movies that depicted a time in America when men were real men, where guns were not evil but positive tools, where it was admirable to stand for something against all odds, and where fighting for the right, for truth, justice, and freedom was not an option but an unquestioned responsibility.

Be sure to read Brigid's post in its entirety, and then tell her how much you appreciate not only her gift as a wordsmith but her stand for liberty.

To Minimize and Marginalize

This blog is essentially about human liberty. If there is a common thread that holds all if its posts together it would be the fight to protect freedom and to stand against ALL attempts from ANY source to encroach upon that freedom.

One thing I have noticed after roughly 2 years of blogging is that there is an element in the blogosphere that will attempt to minimize and marginalize your voice unless you 'tow the party line,' i.e., agree with them.

Some time ago a fellow blogger warned that there are those around and about who would definitely attempt to minimize my voice.

This is 100% true.

The Liberty Sphere has been totally ignored by some who have received nothing but constant attention by me via the links to their blogs.

But I would be remiss without quickly acknowledging that this group is a minority. Most of you have been most supportive at one time or another.

I realize that this blog is not everyone's cup of tea. My opinions are strong, and I WILL fight for them. I don't mind calling a spade a spade, and that includes 'sacred cows' such as the NRA, the GOP, the Libertarian Party, Google, or any other group or entity that I think is headed down the wrong path on an issue.

This stance has included advertisers. I dropped American Express when they accepted a government bailout.

In fact, I have dropped ALL advertisers at this point. I am not going to be 'beholden' to anybody or afraid to speak my mind for the fear it may 'offend' someone. If anyone wishes to advertise here it will be due to their support for this blog's main purpose--to promote human liberty.

This goes for bloggers and readers as well. If my views on the 2nd Amendment, the 1st Amendment, politics, religion, or any other issue costs me readers and support, then so be it. I would rather forever dwell in the deepest bowels of blogosphere hell than to sell out my convictions in order to placate a misguided audience that may bring me a lot of 'traffic.'

I am not going to kiss ANYBODY's ass. I am my own man and I am capable of thinking quite independently and choosing my own path. I don't need either your approval or your permission.

If this means that I will only have a few hundred readers forever and ever, so be it.

But I will not budge. I will not back down. I will not tone down anything that I feel strongly about. And if this means you can't stomach it and thus won't support this blog, then perhaps all of your supposed support for 'free speech' is nothing more than bullshit.

Free speech, free expression, etc., is about nothing if not supporting speech that you may not like.

Come January I am going to have a 'tip jar' on this blog. If you like what's here, if you support my objectives, then you can support it of your own free will.

Oh, and to those of you wish I would just go away, I will quickly add that I have no intention of going anywhere. I am here to stay. So live with it.

Free speech, free Press, the right to free religious expression, the right to assemble freely, and the right to carry and use guns--these are the things I cherish.

Many obviously believe these values are no longer worth fighting for in America. You won't find that sentiment here. If these values are going down, they are not going down without a fight.

Central to human liberty is truth. And I am going to tell the truth come hell or high water.
