Nine (9) Republican turncoats vote along with Democrats to confirm Sonia Sotomayor for the U.S. Supreme Court.
Hint--Lindsey Graham of South Carolina was one of them, but this time John McCain was NOT.

McCain, Graham, Collins, and Snowe
No, it's not a singing group like Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. They are more like 'the four horsemen of the apocalypse.'
McCain, Graham, Collins, and Snowe are the four Republicans who are most likely to vote in favor of the cap and trade energy tax in the Senate.
The good news is that a dozen Democrats have expressed doubt about the bill due to its enormous cost to the citizens and our economy.
Read all about it at Columbia Conservative Examiner.
Tell a friend, and let's get this thing stopped.

Sen. Graham: Sotomayor Is No Racist
RINO Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has engaged in some deft doublespeak, claiming that Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor is no racist. Yet he claims she should apologize for her remarks.
Huh?
What does she have to apologize for, then, Senator?
Read all about this and other reactions from Senators in today's Columbia Conservative Examiner.
Thanks.

Senator Graham Betrays Gun Owners
Senator Lindsey Graham, R-SC, has betrayed the trust of gun owners--and that means most of the people who voted for him in his U.S. Senate re-election bid in 2008--by signing onto a bill, S.391, that would create a central, federally-controlled anti-gun database.
If your pediatrician asks your child about guns in your home, and your child is honest about your gun collection, that information will go into the database. So will the fact that your grandfather, who fought in this nation's wars and protected its streets, was recently diagnosed with depression. He will not longer be allowed to purchase a firearm.
Read the whole thing at Columbia Conservative Examiner.
Be prepared to get fighting mad. This bill is an onslaught against American liberty!

Senator Wants State-Level Stimulus Bill
One U.S. Senator, Lindsey Graham, wants an economic 'stimulus' spending bill just for the state level. As if the federal government's massive spend-fest isn't enough, the Senator suggests that a scaled down stimulus package for the state level would be a good idea.
Read more about it at Columbia Conservative Examiner.
I have had major differences with Lindsey Graham in the past, and this time is no different.

RNC's Steele Open to Challenges for 3 Turncoats
The new Chair of the Republican National Committee, Michael Steele, stated on Monday that he is open to primary challenges against the 3 GOP turncoats who voted in favor of the Obama pork-fest--Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, and Susan Collins.
This is the topic of my column for today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.
No doubt Specter, Snowe, and Collins are intensely disliked among most GOP faithful across the country, but the question is, can a more conservative candidate fly in states like Maine and Pennsylvania?
And what about other questionable GOP Senators, such as South Carolina's Lindsey Graham?
Read the article and spread the news. Thanks.

RINO Support for Nationalization of Banks
RINOS, such as Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham, have stated that they may support a plan being considered to nationalize the nation's troubled banks.
And this is the subject of my column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.
Apparently a plan is being considered in Congress that is modeled after 'the Swedish Plan,' which Barack Obama is said to support.
Socialism is on the march, my friends, but not without protest. You will find info about that too in my new column.
I encourage you to read it and spread the word. And thanks!

Graham: If McCain Wins, If Obama Wins
In an interview given locally, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, R-SC, stated his game plan should his close friend John McCain win the White House and his contingency plan should Barack Obama win.
Many have speculated that McCain may tap Graham to take a key role in a potential McCain administration should the Arizona Senator win the Presidency.
But Graham quickly dispelled any such notion.
Graham maintains that should McCain win, he will be needed in the Senate to be an advocate for the McCain agenda.
No doubt, Graham has been very effective in that role, appearing often on the various Sunday morning network news programs in order to serve as a point-man in the Senate for the GOP.
And that role may become even more important if we are to believe many of the latest polls throughout the nation. Barack Obama has broken into a significant statistical lead over McCain, prior to the recent VP debate, that is. We still have not gotten a clear picture of the trends after the debate, which should come into focus by Tuesday of this week.
But prior to that debate, polls are showing McCain losing and some top Republican Senators losing their jobs, one being Elizabeth Dole of North Carolina, who is trailing badly at this point. Some observers believe that the Democrats could pick up the needed seats to have that all-important 60-seat majority in the Senate--enough to override any Presidential veto and enough to prevent Republicans from blocking the Socialist legislation the Democrats will surely attempt to pass.
If McCain wins, he will need all the help he can get in Senate in which the GOP is considerably weakened.
Senator Graham went further to state that should Barack Obama win the Presidency, he will remain in the Senate to fight the Obama onslaught 'tooth and nail.'
This is what the majority of South Carolinians wanted to hear.
Graham's seat is considered safe in this volatile election year. Although the Senator has raised the ire of his constituents on a couple of occasions by supporting the amnesty plan for illegal aliens, Graham still remains popular in the state, and his Democratic rival has not been able to mount a significant or credible campaign.
But in either case, with either a McCain administration or an Obama administration, Graham's role in the Senate will be significant in an era where the electorate seems to have taken leave of its senses in the aftermath of the crisis in the banking and mortgage industry.
Interesting that a problem created by government meddling is to be solved by more government meddling, if the polls are correct concerning who the citizens wish to send to Congress.
It just goes to show that money problems, plus panic, always lead to irrationality. We are seeing just that in the polls.

Graham's Office Rude With Callers on Oil Issue
While GOP Representatives in the House are working diligently and effectively to get the nation moving on drilling for oil here in the U.S., 5 Republican Senators in the other chamber are doing all they can to stop their efforts, thus allowing Democrats to escape responsibility for their obstructionism on the issue.
The Senate's Gang of 10, which includes Republicans Graham, Isakson, Chambliss, Corker, and Thune, are pushing a so-called 'compromise' measure that will placate the demands of liberal Democrats who have opposed offshore oil drilling here at home for over 20 years.
When Rush Limbaugh called attention to these Republican turncoats on his radio show on Monday, the phones began to ring off the hook at the offices of the Gang of 10.
Many of these callers were greeted by some very rude office staffers who, rather than responding rationally to the concerns of taxpaying citizens, chose instead to argue with the callers who had a problem with the sellout by the 5 GOP Senators.
One rude staffer in particular works in the office of S.C. Senator Lindsey Graham.
With Graham facing very little opposition in the Fall election, does he think he is so all-powerful that he can do whatever he wants with little or no accountability to the peons who comprise the citizenry?
One Senate staffer actually had the audacity to suggest that it is more important to 'pass a bill,' 'cooperate with Democrats,' and 'get something done' rather than hold firm to principle, in spite of the fact that over 70% of Americans support the House GOP floor revolt against the Democrats.
Perhaps the ignorant office staffer should be informed that it is vitally more important to pass a bill that actually addresses the problem, such as 'drill here, drill now' than to pass a compromise bill that retains most of the restrictions on drilling we now have.
But apparently Graham's Gang believes that we citizens are such morons that we will buy into the moronic explanations of rude office staffers.
With each passing day that this gang of 5 Republican turncoats in the Senate insists on continuing with this sham of a 'compromise' with liberal Democrats and environmentalist wackos, the more I am convinced that they should be targets for defeat when they come up for re-election.

Graham's 'Gang of 10' In Senate Raises GOP Ire
A storm of controversy swirls around U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, R-SC, and his so-called 'Gang of 10' in the Senate that has put forth a 'compromise' plan on energy to appease anti-drilling Democrats.
It turns out that the 'compromise' plan is nothing more than putting a Republican stamp of approval on the Democrats' anti-drilling stance.
The plan in actuality does nothing to get this nation drilling for its own oil as a means of weaning ourselves off of foreign oil. According to the terms of the plan, only 4 states will be allowed to determine if they want offshore drilling in their area, and even then it has to get by tons of restrictions and regulations, including approval by Leftwing enviro-wacko groups.
So disgusted are the Republicans in the House with the Graham plan that he is now viewed with great suspicion within his own Party. If his plan passes in the Senate, Graham may be responsible for the demise of the highly successful GOP floor revolt in the House, which has called attention to Democratic inaction on drilling for oil here at home.
Conservative talk radio on Monday was ablaze with Graham-bashing, and rightly so. RUSH LIMBAUGH blasted the Gang of 10's 5 Republican turncoats--Graham, Corker, Thune, Chambliss, and Isakson. So vehement was Limbaugh's condemnation of the Senators' terribly misguided actions that Senator Saxby Chambliss--one of the Gang--called into the program.
At issue is the net effect of the plan of the Gang of 10. First, it totally obliterates an issue that is working in the Republicans' favor--doing something NOW about oil and other resources HERE AT HOME. The Democrats are highly vulnerable on this issue due to their being held hostage by enviro-wackos who contribute heavily to their campaigns.
The enviro-wackos want no drilling for oil here at home at all.
But Graham's Gang would have the effect of taking the Democrats off the hook, making it possible for them to escape responsibility for their inaction.
Second, the Gang's plan lays a gift into the lap of Barack Obama, whose plan is similar to the Gang's, and essentially slaps John McCain in the face.
McCain has stated he supports the House GOP plan to drill here, drill now in addition to developing alternative fuels.
What kind of numbskulled, asinine knuckleheads would fly in the face of the stated goals of their own Party's Presidential nominee, who obviously had seized upon an issue that resonates with the public?
Are Graham, Chambliss, Corker, and company trying to get McCain defeated?
According to The Hill, McCain has held off on supporting the Gang of 10's energy plan for the precise reason that it would complicate his campaign. And, since the Senator has already expressed support for the House GOP energy plan, it would be a stupid move to shift support to the Republican turncoats in the Gang of 10.
The House GOP energy proposal is an 'all-of-the-above' approach to the nation's energy needs. This is what McCain has indicated he supports. The Gang of 10's plan is more of the same old 'oil is evil' that we have come to expect from Democrat-Leftwing-environmental extremists.
Evil or not, we need it. This is the real world and not some future utopia where transportation can be fueled by honey that flows from the Big Rock Candy Mountains.
Graham and his GOP wussies in the Gang of 10 need to realize they don't need to compromise with liberal Democrat numbskulls. The American people overwhelmingly support drill here, drill now. And if they can't stand up to the Democrats on THIS issue, then perhaps they shouldn't be in the Senate at all.

S.C. GOP Senator Joins Anti-Drilling Democrats
U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, has joined the so-called Senate 'Gang of 10' that is working on an energy bill that will placate anti-drilling Democrats.
The 'Gang' is comprised of 5 Democrats and 5 Republicans. Fair enough. But the Republicans in the Gang have basically sold out to those liberals who are against oil drilling in the very areas that are richest in crude.
GOP Congressmen and Senators who are now demanding that Democrats return to work and join them in 'drill here, drill now' are incensed that these 5 Republicans would go for such a sham, particularly when it would effectively shut down the floor revolt the GOP has mounted on an issue that finds broad support in the electorate--offshore drilling in the areas shown to be rich in crude oil.
Graham is joined by Republican Senators Saxby Chambliss, John Thune, Bob Corker, and Johnny Isakson in this slap in the face of their colleagues who demand action on drilling, and drilling without miles and miles of restrictions and red tape.
The bill that the Gang of 10 supports would not allow drilling within 50 miles of the coastline--the very area where there are some of the richest crude oil fields. Drilling is limited to only 4 coastal states and then only if the state legislatures approve it. ANWR is still off limits. And get this--federal taxes will be raised on oil companies to pay for developing 'alternative fuels.'
Nancy Pelosi and the Sierra Club couldn't have asked for a greater gift.
On the other hand, the bill that House Republicans demand includes provisions for drilling anywhere in the offshore region where there is an ample supply of crude. ANWR is included in the plan. This is key. If we don't get our own oil there, the U.N. has already said it will, and Democrats are ready to give it to them!
In addition, the GOP plan in the House includes development of wind, solar, nuclear, coal, and hydrogen fuel cell technology. And it does not call for more federal taxes on oil companies, which already pay over 50% of their profits in taxes. This is in addition to the cents-per-gallon taxes the government collects at the pump.
In South Carolina politics, Graham is an enigma. When it comes to certain issues he can certainly sound as conservative as any. But on some major key issues he is nothing more than a RINO.
In contrast, S.C.'s other GOP Senator, Jim DeMint, is a stalwart conservative all the way. DeMint is leading the effort in the Senate to get Harry Reid and the Democrats to delete the ban on offshore oil drilling from the 2009 budget resolution.
DeMint has also threatened to shut down the government, i.e., approve no budget at all, unless the ban on offshore drilling is lifted. THAT is leadership.
Graham is in a re-election bid this November with very little serious opposition. But the problem is that he has already created opposition within his own Party in South Carolina by supporting measures that conservatives deplore.
The fact that he is part of this 'Gang of 10' certainly does nothing to improve his image.

Graham, Inglis Win Important Primary Battles in SC
South Carolina's senior U.S. Senator, Republican Lindsey Graham, has fought off a GOP challenger and won the Party's nomination to run for another term in November.
Graham stirred up very public and vocal anger among the voters by supporting John McCain's amnesty plan for illegal aliens. So vehement was the opposition to Graham and McCain that both quickly backed off the plan in order to avoid political suicide.
The Democrat who will run against Graham in November is an unknown entity, and Graham is expected to retain his seat in the U.S. Senate.
In another closely-watched race, Republican Bob Inglis, the U.S. Congressman representing S.C.'s 4th Congressional district, defeated his GOP challenger as well. Inglis faced extreme voter discontent when he voted with Democrats in Congress to oppose the troop surge in Iraq.
Inglis now claims his vote was a mistake and that he is pleased that the surge is working.
Again, Inglis represents a strongly conservative Republican district in South Carolina, and he is expected to have no trouble winning another term to the U.S. Congress.
On the local level in South Carolina, one of the more interesting races for the legislature resulted in the challenger, Steve Parker, beating the incumbent Ralph Davenport in a landslide. For more information on that race, click here:

This Is It: S.C. GOP Primary Today
Polls open in South Carolina at 7 AM this morning for the Republican Presidential Primary. No Republican thus far has won the GOP nomination without winning South Carolina.
The Democrats in the state will be holding their primary NEXT Saturday, January 27.
Although polls show John McCain in the lead going into tomorrow's primary, one central factor may well spell trouble for the Senator. McCain and S.C. Senator Lindsey Graham spearheaded President Bush's plan to grant amnesty to illegal aliens--a bill that the citizens beat down with their sheer outrage.
Although McCain and Graham have toned down their rhetoric concerning the issue after the voters made their anger heard, the two are still not really getting the message that Americans want to end sanctuary cities and incentives for illegals to flood the country such as tuition breaks and free medical care, and they want illegals to get in the back of the line where honorable persons seek to enter the country legally.
A vote for McCain is not going to do one whit to end the present disastrous policies toward immigration.
With that said, I have already said all that I need to say.
The Liberty Sphere will keep you updated on any pertinent, late-breaking info as the vote proceeds.
Check back with us later in the evening for the results. And, by the way, we will be casting our vote for Fred Thompson.

Thompson Contrasts His Record with McCain's
Seeking to make a final case for the fact that he is the one consistent conservative in the GOP race in South Carolina, Fred Thompson contrasted his record with that of John McCain in several campaign stops in the state over the past two days.
Thompson has already shown that Mike Huckabee is no Reagan conservative when one looks at his entire record. Now he has set his sights on the supposed 'front-runner,' John McCain, although no GOP candidate thus far can actually lay claim to that title.
Two major national polls show that McCain is ahead in South Carolina. But Thompson has been surging fast. And as Thompson's fortune rises, Huckabee's plummets.
While McCain is certainly good enough to vote for against the likes of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, or John Edwards, his record is certainly far from being 'conservative.'
Yes, he has supported every tax cut since the Reagan Administration. And yes, he is strong on national defense, U.S. foreign policy, and the War on Terror. He also has a stellar record on abortion.
However, McCain's stance on other issues is highly problematic. Despite a fairly favorable rating by the NRA, McCain has actually voted AGAINST some key pro-Second Amendment legislation in his long political career.
His involvement in the environmentalist movement is also troublesome. He has totally bought into the political rhetoric of the radical tree-huggers that global warming is caused by human activity rather than naturally occurring forces.
McCain also made no friends among conservatives when he spearheaded so-called 'campaign finance reform' and proceeded to limit free speech in the process.
And his stance on illegal aliens has been disastrous. Despite his recent rhetoric about 'making the borders secure,' he still refuses to deal with sanctuary cities, tuition breaks for illegals, and forcing illegals in get in line with the rest who wish to come here LEGALLY.
One CANNOT adequately deal with the problem of the illegal assault on America unless these specific issues are addressed, which McCain refuses to do.
One by one, Thompson showed how his views have differed drastically from McCain's on these critical issues concerning our nation.
Thompson wants to end federal funds to sanctuary cities that harbor illegal aliens against federal law. He is opposed to tuition breaks for illegals. He is also opposed to any form of amnesty, including a separate 'path to citizenship.' There is already a path to citizenship for illegals, i.e., get in line and go through the LEGAL process like ALL trustworthy human beings would do.
In addition, Fred stands for a totally unfettered Second Amendment, just as the Founders specified and is against D.C.'s gun control laws in D.C. vs. Heller at the Supreme Court. He has a 100% pro-life rating from the national Right to Life group. He has also been endorsed by South Carolinians for Life--a state pro-life group.
Thompson believes that the 'global warming' bandwagon is largely a hoax that has been debunked and discredited by at least 400 scientists--a list which is growing by the day. And he doesn't mind telling you what he thinks about the 'Big Brother' nanny state that tries to tell us what to eat, what to do, what to buy, what to drive, and all of the other symptoms of those who have a Hitler/Stalin/Messianic complex.
In short, the candidate has done his homework. Thompson can demonstrate on the record how his votes have differed with McCain's.
Thus, we South Carolinians who cherish our liberty, unrestricted First Amendment and Second Amendment rights, the right to live our lives in freedom without the nanny state dictating to us our lifestyle habits, the simple and basic premise that any honorable person in another country who wishes to live here should be expected to do so LEGALLY, MUST support Fred Thompson in this coming Saturday's GOP primary.
A vote for John McCain is like a vote for Senator Lindsey Graham. The both of them are responsible for the hideous amnesty legislation they tried to push through Congress which would have made the illegal alien problem worse.
The outcry from the average citizens across the country resoundingly condemned McCain, Graham, Ted Kennedy, and President Bush for attempting to dump this piece of garbage on the American public.
We can do better. MUCH better.
And Fred Thompson is the logical choice.

Illegal Alien Charged in N.J. Murders of Students
Once again the sad and disgusting consequences of the nation's failure to deal with illegal aliens has resulted in death. One of the two persons charged in the execution-style murders of three college-bound youths in Newark, New Jersey, is an illegal alien by the name of Jose Carranza.
A citizen of Peru, Carranza entered the U.S. illegally and embarked upon a life of violent crime, including being charged and convicted of the rape of a 5-year-old child.
Carranza was out of jail on parole when he allegedly murdered the three Newark youths.
Police state that both ballistics and the physical evidence at the scene point to Carranza. Law enforcement officials are also receiving vital information from the lone survivor of the attack, who has been recovering from her wounds in a local hospital.
Had it been true that the case of Jose Carranza is an isolated incident, that fact alone would be enough to launch investigations into the criminal justice system in New Jersey. The problem, however, is that such incidents are not rare and isolated.
In fact, in the nation's major cities illegal aliens are responsible for most of the violent crime.
Yet politicians such as Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, John McCain, John Conyers, and many more have a history of advocating amnesty for illegal aliens who disregard our nation's laws. Some of these also essentially advocate for open borders.
Activist judges in the judicial system routinely strike down the ordinances of local municipalities that are aimed at doing what the federal government has consistently failed to do--enforce the nation's laws.
Labor Unions are now routinely recruiting illegal aliens, advocating for their continued breaking of the law, in order to beef up their dwindling membership rolls and provide a new cutting edge issue for which to rattle their sabers.
Business owners in some sectors of the economy have aided and abetted the breaking of the nation's laws by employing illegal aliens in order to save a few bucks on labor costs.
From top to bottom, every major sector of society has been complicit in this massive trashing of U.S. law. Businesses, labor unions, activist judges, and politicians have been and continue to be willing accomplices in this blatant act of perpetrating the single largest assault on the United States of America in its entire history.
The average citizens, however, are alarmed, appalled, and angry.
They have every right to be. Note a few of these shocking statistics provided by the INS/FBI for the first quarter of 2006:
--95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens
--83% of warrants for murder in Phoenix are for illegal aliens
--86% of warrants for murder in Albuquerque are for illegal aliens
--75% of those on the most wanted list in Los Angeles, Phoenix and Albuquerque are illegal aliens
--53% plus of all investigated burglaries reported in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and Texas are perpetrated by illegal aliens
--50% plus of all gang members in Los Angeles are illegal aliens from south of the border
--71% plus of all apprehended cars stolen in 2005 in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California were stolen by Illegal aliens or "transport coyotes"
--47% of cited/stopped drivers in California have no license, no insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 47%, 92% are illegal aliens
--63% of cited/stopped drivers in Arizona have no license, no insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 63%, 97% are illegal aliens
--66% of cited/stopped drivers in New Mexico have no license, no insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 66% 98% are illegal aliens.
--380,000 plus "anchor babies" were born in the U.S. in 2005 to illegal alien parents, making 380,000 babies automatically U.S.citizens and, under our laws, entitled to invite the rest of their family to join them
--97.2% of all costs incurred from those births were paid by the American taxpayers
--66% plus of all births in California are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by taxpayers.
Americans may not be fully aware of the magnitude of these statistics, but they know that things are not right and getting totally out of hand.
An example of the growing ire of the electorate can be found in South Carolina, an area which is not known for giving top priority to the subject of illegal aliens and the nation's immigration laws.
S.C. is dominated by conservative Republican politics. Republicans control both chambers of the legislature as well as the Governor's office.
Yet U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, R-SC, finds himself in a growing hotbed of voter rage over his work to push the McCain-Kennedy-Bush immigration amnesty bill through Congress. GOP activists in the state have openly called for Graham's replacement on the ticket in the next Senatorial election. Some have even advocated removing the Senator from office now.
The source of the extreme voter discontent with Graham is not the economy, which has been very good in S.C. Nor has it been the War in Iraq, which finds overwhelming support in the state.
Graham's trouble is the result of one single issue--immigration policy and illegal aliens.
The citizens in S.C. have smelled a rat in the U.S. government, and it is not just the Democrats. They know that Democrats are lax on enforcing immigration laws because of the political payoff they get from the 'minority vote.'
But citizens are also sophisticated enough to see that some Republicans are just as guilty. And Lindsey Graham, at least at present, is the recipient of the blame.
The Liberty Sphere has observed a massive shift in voter preference over the past few months in South Carolina. We believe that Lindsey Graham is highly vulnerable and may well find himself in the political fight of his life just to keep his spot on the GOP ticket.
Graham already has two announced GOP opponents for his Senate seat--a highly unusual situation for a GOP Senator in a GOP-dominated state.
Travesties of justice such as the heart-wrenching murders of three clean-cut college-bound kids in N.J. at the hands of an illegal alien child-rapist out on parole certainly do nothing to help politicians such as Graham.
In fact, these inexcusable tragedies only further ignite the fires of rage the citizens feel toward government officials who are essentially giving away the country to Mexico and other sources of lawless illegal entry into the nation.
The very fact that many Republicans in South Carolina are so enraged about this issue that they are willing to boot one of their own from the ticket is cause for much hope. When it comes to the Constitution, the rule of law, common sense, and adhering to the traditional values most of us had instilled in us, we can no longer allow Party loyalty or familiarity to cloud our sense of judgment.
If this single issue is causing such furor in a state like South Carolina, one can be assured that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Citizens by the millions across this nation are so enraged by their elected officials that one can sense a political storm brewing.
Remember, it was the citizens and NOT the politicians that killed the doomed immigration amnesty bill. If most Democrats and some Republicans had gotten their way, the man who murdered the three youths in New Jersey would have been granted a 'path to citizenship.'
Many members of both Parties need to be shown the door. No matter what local issues bought them voter loyalty in the past, if they are contributing to the trashing of U.S. law by allowing this massive onslaught of illegals who neither understand nor value our way of life, our Constitution, our language and customs, then those politicians need to be voted out of office.
Impeachment proceedings should also begin against Judges in this nation who flagrantly violate the laws of the land by rendering decisions that are totally inconsistent with everything we know about American jurisprudence.
The U.S. Code specifically states that the aiding and abetting of illegal aliens is a felony. Why is that law not being enforced?
The families of the three students in New Jersey whose lives were snuffed out by an illegal alien who had raped a 5-year-old have been dealt a grave injustice by the U.S. government, many of its politicians and judges, and some of its citizens.
The murder of those three innocent young people is the direct result of the failure of this society to enforce the nation's immigration laws.
And until those laws begin to be enforced, the blame for every single murder of this nature can be laid squarely at the feet of the U.S. government and those politicians that refuse to obey the law in bringing an end to the illegal alien mutiny.

South Carolina and the Presidency
South Carolina normally would not be considered a powerhouse in national politics--a least not in terms of perception. That is about to change.
The state will host one of the earliest primaries in the nation in 2008, and thus, candidates in both Parties have already been frequent visitors to the Palmetto state.
Sensing that the state is crucial in garnering the required number of delegate votes at the political Conventions, candidates are not leaving anything to chance. Republican Duncan Hunter announced his Presidential bid here. Ron Paul has been here twice. So have Hillary and Obama.
Yet South Carolina is actually more crucial to the Republican candidates than that of the Democrats. The state is now thoroughly Republican. Both of its U.S. Senators are Republicans. So is the Governor. The state legislature is controlled by Republicans.
Thus, this is a test state for the Republicans. Whoever wins here will more than likely win the Party's nomination for the White House.
Although S.C.'s U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint belong to the same Party, the two are actually as different as night and day. Graham is solidly behind McCain and has been rumored to be a potential running mate for the Arizona Senator, should he win the nomination.
Graham has also created some enemies for himself among the Party faithful here, with his front-lines support of the McCain-Ted Kennedy-George Bush immigration amnesty plan.
Rumors are that the Senator may be in trouble during his next re-election campaign, and he already has some opposition from two Republican candidates who are intent on wresting the nomination away from Graham.
Jim DeMint, on the other hand, has become a favorite of the Party faithful in S.C. with his staunch opposition to the amnesty bill that Graham supported. DeMint also supports Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination, although his backing has not helped the candidate move to the top of the pack.
Duncan Hunter, Mike Huckabee, and Rudy Giuliani have strong support in the state, but polls have shown that South Carolina will probably go to Fred Thompson, assuming that Thompson will declare his candidacy.
On the Democratic side, both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have shown solid support among Democrats in the state. Despite John Edwards' strong ties here and his upbringing in neighboring North Carolina, he has not been able to create very much excitement for his campaign.
In all likelihood, the candidates who win South Carolina will be their Party's nominee for the Presidency. At this point it would appear that those candidates will be Fred Thompson and Hillary Clinton.
And thus, South Carolina will have a large hand in choosing the next President.

The Demise of the Immigration Compromise Bill
Washington, DC (TLS). As expected, the U.S. Senate failed to garner the 60 votes needed to invoke cloture Thursday morning, and proceed to a vote on the immigration reform bill. This means that the bill is dead.
Six top Republicans defected from the shaky coalition of Democrats and Republican leaders in order to insure the demise of the bill. This was in stark contrast to the vote on Tuesday when the bill's supporters received 64 votes.
However, in the intervening hours between the first vote and today's vote, a massive avalanche of angry citizens inundated Congress with phone calls, faxes, emails, and text messages.
One person who contacted Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was so explosive in his derogatory comments that Reid indicated he would be turning over the communication to the government's investigative authorities.
Obviously, the vast majority of the contacts were not violent in nature, and thus, the Senators heard the deep concerns of the people loud and clear.
Even Senator Dianne Feinstein commented on the number of complaints from citizens, but stated that she would vote in favor of the bill anyway because 'those who oppose the bill do not understand it.'
Sure, Senator. Only elitists like you can truly understand the intricacies of government and legislation, and we, the misinformed and ignorant commoners, are too dumb to comprehend.
Senator Jim DeMint, R-South Carolina, on the other hand, asked, 'What part of ‘no’ don’t we understand? This fight has 'reengaged the American people.'
However, Senator Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, one of the bill's staunchest proponents, stated, 'Remember this day if you vote no. The bill will not come back in its present form, and this is as good as it gets.'
Perhaps someone should remind Senator Graham that we don't need another bill. What we need is enforcement of the laws already on the books that deal directly with the problem of illegal aliens and what to do about them.
The problem is not inadequate laws. The problem is the inadequate enforcement of current law.
Some liberal groups are already warning that the opposition to this bill among Republicans will spell defeat for them in 2008. The common reasoning behind this view is that Hispanic voters are overwhelmingly turning to Democrats, and today's vote will only accelerate that process.
Critics point to the fact that George W. Bush received 40% of the Hispanic vote but that in 2008 that level of support is expected to drop.
A closer look, however, reveals that Hispanics have never been in the hip-pocket of Republicans to begin with. 40% of the Hispanic vote is not a majority. Democrats have always been the beneficiaries of the influx of Hispanic immigrants, which is the biggest reason they block enforcement of current law and come within a hair's breadth of supporting open borders.
It should not be very difficult, however, to show Hispanic voters that this bill is not about legal immigration. This has NEVER been about legal immigration. The vast millions of Hispanic immigrants who have gained citizenship through legal means are valued and productive citizens. They work hard. They are deeply religious. They support their families.
Republicans, conservatives, independents, and libertarians who opposed the immigration compromise bill have no quarrel at all with these exemplary members of the LEGAL Hispanic immigrant community. Our quarrel has been with illegal aliens, period...and the corrupt government of Mexico that apparently wishes to dump its criminals onto America by supporting their illegal entry into the country.
The bill as it stood did very little to adequately address the problem of illegal aliens. Granting a path to citizenship for illegals would be a slap in the face to every immigrant who followed the law and attained their citizenship the right way.
Americans of every stripe continue to welcome immigrants who are willing to obey the law, learn English, and follow the path to citizenship already laid out in the U.S. Code.
We still support those who obey the law. But we remain vehemently opposed to those who disregard the law.

SOUTH CAROLINA'S RAGE TOWARD LINDSEY GRAHAM
Columbia, SC (TLS). Senator Lindsey Graham, R-SC, finds himself in deep political trouble in his home state of South Carolina. Graham raised the ire of the Republican base when he helped broker the present 'immigration compromise bill' that is supported by Ted Kennedy, John McCain, and President Bush.
The fact that Graham supports John McCain in his Republican Presidential nomination bid is increasingly viewed as an albatross hanging around the Senator's neck.
With McCain losing support among the Party faithful, and with the Kennedy-McCain-Bush immigration bill viewed by most as an amnesty program for illegal workers, Republicans in South Carolina have begun to turn their rage toward Graham.
A grassroots coalition has sprung up within the state that is seeking to rescind Graham's election to the Senate. In short, they want to immediately remove him from office.
By overwhelming majorities South Carolinians want secured borders, immigration limitation and control, and a commitment on the part of elected officials to uphold and enforce the immigration laws that are already on the books.
Graham is increasingly viewed as someone who does not share the views of the majority of the people in his state.
The Liberty Sphere believes that the Senator is in deep trouble politically. If he survives the move to have him removed from office, he has an election to face next year. With opposition mounting, it is looking doubtful that Graham could win another term.
South Carolina's other Senator, Jim DeMint, another Republican, has been solidifying his popularity in the state by his steadfast opposition to the immigration bill. When South Carolina voters compare the two, given DeMint's more compatible views with the majority of the state's electorate, Graham comes out looking like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole.
It will be interesting to see just how strongly the ill winds toward Graham are blowing in South Carolina.
