Terrorist Link to Doomed Airliner Revealed

Sky News is reporting this morning that the doomed Air France flight that broke apart in the sky above the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Brazil was carrying 2 passengers that are linked to extremist Muslim terrorism.

A source working for the French security services told Paris weekly L'Express that the link was "highly significant".

Agents are now trying to establish dates of birth for the two dead passengers, and family connections.

There is a possibility the name similarities are simply a "macabre coincidence", the source added, but the revelation is still being "taken very seriously".

France has received numerous threats from Islamic terrorist groups in recent months, especially since French troops were sent to fight in Afghanistan.

Truth Trickles Out Concerning Air France Disaster

A South American news agency reported on May 27, just days prior to the disaster, that Air France had received a bomb threat.

The Most Dangerous Man in America

You know that the nation is in deep trouble when the most dangerous man in America is the President of the United States.

I know this is a brazen statement. But let's consider the facts.

He has made the decision to close Gitmo prison that houses the most dangerous terrorists in the world. This will mean that these barbarians will be brought to the U.S. mainland to be housed in a prison facility near you, right in your own backyard.

He has decided that overseas sponsors of terror need to be 'understood' and 'listened to.' Not only that, but he has decided America needs to apologize to these terrorist regimes for being responsible for poor relations between the U.S. and the nations involved.

We have nothing to apologize to a terrorist for. And such an act only emboldens terrorists, which we saw with the reaction of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad when he said that Obama's statement proves that the U.S. is now 'in a weakened state.'

Ahmadinejad then proceeded to make demands of the U.S. before Iran would be willing to sit down at the negotiating table with the U.S.

Note that last point carefully. In Obama's world it is not the U.S. that makes demands of a terrorist state prior to diplomatic negotiations but it is the terrorist world that makes demands of the U.S.

And Iran's first demand was that the U.S. cease to be an ally of Israel.

You see, this is precisely what you get when an imbecile sits in the White House.

Not only is Obama setting the stage for nuclear war in the Middle East when Israel has to go it alone to fight for her survival in a region of nations that desire that she be wiped off the map, but he is creating a scenario where terrorists will be coming en mass to our own shores.

We can expect a major terrorist attack on American soil at some point before this monstrosity we have elected leaves office.

Add to that Obama's desire (and that of his new Attorney-General) to disarm average American citizens, and we then have a scenario where the entire country from top to bottom is nothing but a sitting duck not only for thugs, thieves, murderers, and rapists, but terrorists who will unleash their suicide bombs on American streets, just as they have been doing in Israel.

Welcome to Obamaland.

Muslims Gathering Outside of Catholic Churches

Around the world at this hour we are seeing Muslims emboldened as never before in their extremism. But a most curious example of this is the Muslim practice, implemented during the past week, of gathering outside Catholic churches for prayer and worship.

The Vatican has expressed deep concern over this phenomenon.

And they have every reason to be concerned.

What if I, for example, took with me hundreds of Christians to gather outside Islamic centers for gospel singing, evangelistic preaching, and prayers to save the lost Muslim souls?

What do you think Muslim groups and the Leftwing would have to say about such a display?

I would be tarred and feathered, vilified, and condemned for displaying an attitude of disrespect and bullying toward Muslims.

Yet certain members of the Muslim religion around the world feel emboldened of late to make Catholic churches their gathering place.

Here are some pictures and commentary on the phenomenon.

Regardless of whether or not the majority of the persons involved in these acts of degradation to Christians are involved in supporting terrorism, it does not speak well for one's religion to be engaging in practices such as this.

ISRAEL RETALIATES AGAINST GAZA JIHADISTS

In response to relentless terrorism aimed against its citizens, Israel has launched retaliatory attacks against Jihadist Muslims in Gaza.

Despite the court of world opinion and condemnations by the U.N., most who are sympathetic to the plight of the Jews in the face of Islamic terrorism view the defensive attack by Israel as long overdue.

One of the most asinine and indefensible pieces of propaganda emanating from the mainstream media and leftist politicians around the world is that Israel must simply be the sitting duck as terrorists all around it seek to wipe it from the face of the earth.

Such utterly irrational blather must be dismissed outright as anti-Semitic.

That didn’t take long.

As we observed throughout the campaign, Barack Obama gave indications that his election would mean a return to the September 10 mentality, a national-security outlook marked prominently by its lack of seriousness about the terrorist threat. In choosing Eric Holder to be his attorney general, President-Elect Obama has taken a step toward confirming those misgivings.

The editors of National Review have written a frightening assessment of Barack Obama's foreign policy plans, as the excerpt above depicts.

If, indeed, September 11, 2001 changed everything, as most of us said at the time, then a pre-September 11 mentality is not a step forward but a gigantic leap backward to a time when we assumed we were safe from catastrophic terrorist attacks on our own soil.

If Obama is a major danger to the nation with regard to domestic issues, then his foreign policy mentality is lethal.

Today We Remember: May We Never Forget

Today we remember those who lost their lives at the hands of Muslim terrorists on September 11, 2001.

May we never forget what happened and who did it.

And may we never forget the brave men and women who died or who were injured attempting to rescue those trapped in the rubble, or those who attempted to wrest control of United Flight 93 from terrorist vermin, and who lost their lives as a result.

Today we say a special prayer for the families and friends of these brave human beings.

U.S. Moves Toward Heightened Terror Alert

ABC News is reporting that the federal government is moving quietly toward a heightened terror alert in light of an upcoming series of high profile events.

Fearing that Al Qaeda or a similar group could attempt a terrorist attack during the Olympics or one of the two major political conventions this summer, the Department of Homeland Security has declared a 'Period of Heightened Alert,' or 'POHA.'

The period would run from August of 2008 until July of 2009.

The Department has designated POHA to refer to a time-frame when terrorists may have more incentive to attack, such as during high profile campaign events during an election year.

During such a time-frame federal agents will double their counterterrorism activity and prepare for any contingency during the transition from the Bush Administration to that of the next President.

The Feds are already doubling efforts in tracking leads in a terrorist threat made against the Olympic games by a group of Chinese Muslims.

Obama's Murky Connections with Muslim Extremists

Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama has a long history of associations with persons of dubious character, not the least of which are the likes of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, and Father Michael 'Snuffy' Pfleger.

This may be only the tip of the iceberg, however.

Obama's associations with extremists within the world of Islamofascism should be cause enough to stop any potential supporter dead in their tracks.

It has been common knowledge for quite some time that Obama supports a Palestinian state and a divided Jerusalem. True, Condi Rice supports the same thing, as do others within the Bush administration.

But Obama's attempt to hide his support for such things by claiming before a group of Jews two weeks ago that he 'supports a united Jerusalem under the control of Israel' should give rise to serious questions concerning the candidate's honesty, his blatant duplicity, and his frantic attempts to keep his more extremist views under the cover.

It is no coincidence, then, that the candidate has recently claimed that Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorist organizations while at the same time supporting policies that favor both.

And as for Israel, Obama potentially represents one of the most dangerous threats to their existence that has ever proceeded from a major American political figure.

Obama, for example, in answering questions from reporters, stated forthrightly that both Hamas and Hezbollah have 'legitimate goals.' Which goals, exactly, of these two terrorist organizations are legitimate?

The reporter in question never posed a follow-up to allow Obama to explain himself, nor did the reporter flinch when the candidate made that statement--a statement which represents one of the most outlandish and dangerous points of view a potential President could have.

Obama's contention that Hamas and Hezbollah's goals are legitimate is tantamount to claiming that Al Qaeda makes an excellent point about the West, or that the Nazis, after all, had worthy objectives when they came to power in Germany.

These explosive and wildly wrong-headed notions concerning Hamas and Hezbollah were not lost on the two organizations. Both strongly support Barack Obama for President of the United States. This is in spite of Obama's most recent disclaimers during which he claims support for Israel and claims to believe both Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorist organizations.

It seems that the leadership within the two groups know the real score. One leader in particular stated that he understood that Obama had to play the political game by denouncing them and cozying up to Israel, but that they all know that the candidate truly supports their objectives.

This, my friends, is an explosive revelation.

And the notion that Obama privately supports Hamas and Hezbollah is certainly confirmed by his associations through the years in the U.S.

PAMELA GELLER RESPONDS TO ATTACKS

Almost from its inception, The Liberty Sphere blog has consistently linked to news alerts concerning the Jihad and the War on Terror, as provided by Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs--one of the top blogs in the nation.

Atlas Shrugs has been an invaluable source of information concerning the fight for the survival of the West. And Geller has proven herself to be a valiant and courageous soldier in this fight.

As with all who are willing to put their very lives on the line for the cause of truth, justice, and liberty, Geller has not been without her share of detractors and critics, which unfortunately include those who see her as such a threat to their subversive and dangerous agenda that they resort to personal attacks, smears, lawsuits, and even death threats.

This is to be expected given that the Jihadists and their sympathizers do not wish for the truth to be told and would love to see the public kept in the dark. An uninformed public is a sitting duck for the attacks of those who wish to destroy not only the fabric of freedom but the very existence of our country and way of life.

Thus, one thing should be made crystal clear--Pamela Geller is not a 'terrorist' simply because she fights terrorism with a passion that scares the true terrorists. She does not run a 'hate site' simply because she blogs about the twisted, insidious, and deadly world-view of Islamic extremists.

Some of those who make such charges brought their blather to this very blog in the comments section of an earlier post. Pamela Geller was kind and gracious enough to come here and give a direct response.

That response was important enough that I thought it merited a whole post unto itself.

This is precisely the way I have experienced Pamela Geller and Atlas Shrugs ever since I stumbled upon the blog about a year and a half ago. This is why there is a permanent link to the blog on the left sidebar. And this is why I was honored to have Pamela Geller come here to make a straightforward, clear statement of what motivates her to engage in this battle.

Make no mistake about it, Islamofascisim is a major threat to the freedom of speech, freedom of the Press, freedom of religion, and every other liberty associated with free societies. This is why Canada and much of Europe has succumbed to the dire and ominous moves to place restrictions on freedom of speech.

In nearly every instance, Islamofascism is the shadow-force behind the scenes that drives these restrictions on human liberty. Extremists under the guise of being 'moderate Muslims,' for example, were behind the trial of Mark Steyn and Mclean's Magazine in British Columbia.

For sure, there are many moderate Muslims in the world. But simply because someone says they are moderate does not necessarily make them moderate.

Atlas Shrugs exists to help us make the distinction.

Taliban Gearing Up for Siege to Re-take Country

Intelligence reports from Afghanistan, including those of observers on the ground, indicate that the Taliban has regrouped and is gearing up for a massive siege, the goal of which is re-taking control of the country.

U.S. forces and NATO had forced the Taliban from power in the early days of the War on Terror, and many top Taliban operatives were either killed or jailed.

But those who remained jailed were freed from prison over this past weekend by a series of explosions planted by Taliban fugitives. The prison escapees were known Taliban operatives who had been trained as suicide bombers and head-choppers.

Since the prison-break, news reports from the region indicate that the Taliban has retaken areas in southern Afghanistan and is now gearing up for a massive, concerted effort to seize control of the country.

The State Department is denying these reports. Yet sources outside the U.S. and within NATO indicate that the U.S. and its allies are monitoring these developments with a wary eye.

Deposing the Taliban was a vital and important first step in fighting the War on Terror. And if this dangerous, extremist group comes back to power in Afghanistan, it would be a significant setback in the West's attempts to keep the lid on terrorism around the world.

LATE-BREAKING UPDATE TO BHUTTO MURDER

While the Interior Ministry of Pakistan continues to claim that Benazir Bhutto did not die from bullets but from a blunt force trauma to the head, a new 'McGruder-type' home video from the crime scene has emerged that clearly shows plenty of evidence that Bhutto sustained gun-shots to the back of her head and neck.

The Interior Ministry claims she was not struck by bullets but that when the vehicle was rocked by a suicide bomb blast, she ducked inside the vehicle and hit her head in the process.

The tape shows no such thing.

In addition, the attending emergency physician at the hospital where Bhutto was taken stated in his official report that the charismatic opposition leader had died from gunshot wounds to her head and neck.

The hospital--not the physician--later changed the official report.

Of course, none of this is shocking to those familiar with the Pakistani government, which is by all accounts one of the most corrupt on earth. The government would have a vested interest in being able to say that terrorist bullets did not kill Benazir Bhutto.

The rest of the world, however, knows the truth.

Notes From Here and There

In just three days the Iowa Caucuses will kick off the 2008 Presidential campaigns in earnest. Polls have been all over the board in both Parties. In fact, voter preferences have been so fluid that we think it is fairly impossible to predict who will win on either side.

Although he is in 3rd place, Fred Thompson has a chance to pull an upset. He is within striking distance of front runner Mike Huckabee, and the money Thompson raised during his two-day blogburst blitz last week will mean he can inundate the state with a barrage of TV and radio ads in the last three days of campaigning.

This could make a huge difference.

On the Democratic side some observers indicate that Barack Obama has begun to lose some of his luster, despite Oprah Winfrey's 'Barack and Oprah Road Show.' Nonetheless, there is also widespread discontent with Hillary. Does this mean that John Edwards is the beneficiary?

This is hard to say. We do not see Edwards winning any primaries, but we have been proved wrong before.



Pakistani officials now claim that popular opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was not killed by bullets but by a severe bump to the head. Apparently the shots that rang out missed the charismatic Bhutto but rattled the vehicle in which she was traveling. When she attempted to duck back inside the vehicle she sustained blunt-force trauma to the head, resulting in death.

Nonetheless, Pakistani officials also claim they know who was behind the assassination.

A pro-Taliban leader with connections to Al Qaeda, who resides in the lawless tribal section of Pakistan where terrorists have found safe haven, was quoted from a document obtained by the Interior Ministry as congratulating the assassins for a 'job well-done.'

Baitullah Mehsud is suspected for perpetrating the attacks and is implicated in a series of other terrorist attacks within Pakistan.

In addition, there are widespread reports of violence and unrest throughout Pakistan in the wake of the funeral of Bhutto.



The Baltimore Chronicle suggested this week on its op-ed page that a global warming catastrophe could rid the world of conservatives. As areas in the Southeast, the Deep South, the Southwest, and the Great Plains States are devastated by rising temperatures, residents will be forced out, supposedly to take haven in the cooler areas of the northeast and Great Lakes region, which somehow will be spared the doom.

It is then, as the writer suggests, that these conservatives should be forced to endure sub-citizen status and not allowed to participate in the political process, 'due to their hate-filled and single-minded desire to do nothing about global warming.'

The writer hails this as a wonderful thing.

But apparently neither the writer nor the Chronicle have been reading the template of their own movement. According to the script followed by the Algore people and the more militant global warming proponents, the end result of global warming will not be unendurable heat but a massive ice age caused by gigantic, hurricane-like storms that will engulf the entire planet, which will catapult the Earth into a devastating ice age.

These storms, which will be fueled by the warmer air, will have the net result of ridding the Earth of the warmer air, plunging temperatures into danger zones like the planet has never seen since the last Ice Age. Thus, those who survive will be forced South.

Just think, the pompous-assed northeasterners and Great Lakes elitists will be forced into territory where Bubbas love their guns and dislike Yankee liberals. I don't think I would be mouthing off about how you plan to punish Bubba if he is forced up into your area. He just may have a few surprises of his own waiting for you when you get here to thaw out of the deep freeze.

Al Qaeda Wildfire Plot

Now that it has been determined that the devastating California wildfires are more than likely the work of arsonist(s), this is a good time to go back and re-examine some intel from 2003.

According to a story published in USA Today in 2003, the FBI reported that an Al Qaeda detainee had described a massive plot to set wildfires in the western sector of the U.S. as part of its goal to create chaos and havoc in an attempt to bring down 'the Great Satan.'

The suspect(s) who are currently being questioned by law enforcement officials have not yet been directly linked to Al Qaeda, however. Yet it has been well-known for years that terrorists use a variety of means to disrupt society, including sabotage and arson. Often terrorists spend years in planning these deadly events.

DETAILS OF FOILED '06 TERROR PLOT REVEALED

Well, at least he didn't repeat his earlier assertion that he had a 'gut feeling' that the U.S. is in for a major terrorist attack this summer. But he did say that we are at a heightened risk for another attack, just as it was reported at the beginning of July.

In an ABC News exclusive interview, Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff provides shocking details of the foiled airline terrorist plot in 2006 that originated in the U.K. and resulted in a limit on liquids allowed on aircraft.

As it turns out, terrorists had determined that they could sneak explosive material hidden in bottles of liquid onto aircraft bound for the U.S. The terrorists had planned to use this method on upwards of nine different planes, resulting in thousands of deaths that could have rivaled that of 9/11.

Chertoff maintains that had officials in the U.K. not received a tip concerning the plot, the terrorists probably would have succeeded in their goal of killing thousands of Americans.

Once officials in the U.K. and the U.S. became aware of the plot, Homeland Security was forced into overdrive to change the habits of millions of Americans within one day--a feat that under normal circumstances would take weeks.

While Americans complained about the inconveniences of such a sudden change in the rules concerning liquids, Chertoff insists that those inconveniences pale in comparison to the carnage that would have resulted had the plot succeeded.

The Liberty Sphere continues to believe that the risk for a major terrorist attack before the end of the summer is very high. We have maintained that the nation's terror alert level should be raised to red.

We still believe that this is the most prudent course.

This does not mean that an attempted attack would be successful. Thus far, the Americans and the British have managed to thwart such plots in the making before there was any loss of life. We have confidence that most of our brave men and women who work in counterterrorism are competent professionals who are on top of fast-breaking developments.

Yet we are in a dreadful state of denial if we believe that we are insulated from more attacks similar to 9/11.

Chertoff's sobering words on the nature of the enemy and the task before us are a stark reminder of how dangerous the world has become: 'You know, we go about our business during the summer, other times of the year. People are going to ballgames or watching their children graduate from high school,' he said, 'and it chills me sometimes to think there are people a half a world away who are spending the same period of time in a cave, trying to figure out how to kill us.'
