Border Patrol Scandal Deepens

Almost three years after being shot while attempting to smuggle drugs into the United States, Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila has finally been indicted. Border Patrol agents Compean and Ramos were sent to prison for nearly 12 years in a set-up job perpetrated by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, who withheld evidence from the jury.

The public will finally get to see the entire corrupt fiasco played out in the media, now that the illegal alien drug smuggler has been charged with crimes.

The thing is, Johnny Sutton knew the perpetrator very well. So did others within the U.S. Justice Department. They also knew of his criminal history and background. They were also aware that while Sutton was priming Andrete-Davila to testify against Ramos and Compean, the illegal alien committed yet another crime, smuggling more drugs into the country.

The jury in the trial of Agents Ramos and Compean never heard about ANY of this, however.

It's time now to pay the piper.

With renewed interest in the case, with withheld evidence being made public, with the perpetrator being indicted, and with renewed calls for Ramos and Compean to be pardoned by President Bush, the powder keg waiting to explode has just been lit.

The corruption of the U.S. Government in this case runs deep and wide. GOP Presidential hopeful and U.S. Representative Duncan Hunter hand delivered a letter to the President, urging in the strongest civil language possible a complete investigation to the case and the freeing of the falsely-accused and convicted agents.

The Liberty Sphere has maintained all along that if there is any one single issue that could become the unraveling of the Bush Administration, it is this. The Democrats' endless 'investigations' on the Hill are all fluff and pandering to the gallery. Their saber-rattling on these peripheral issues is an exercise in wasteful spending of taxpayer's money.

Yet Congress has essentially refused to thoroughly investigate the DOJ and Johnny Sutton, despite a few lone voices crying in the wilderness.

The reason for their reluctance is not far to find. Congressional Democrats are just as skittish as the Bush Administration about doing anything about illegal aliens, the Mexican government, and those who aid and abet illegals--a felony according to the U.S. Code.

If there is any integrity at all left in members of Congress, they will scream bloody murder to high heaven until something is done about this shocking and blatant travesty of justice.

Smoking Gun Leads to Oval Office

Important and shocking facts have surfaced within the last few days that may indicate high level corruption at the Bush White House. These facts may well lead straight to the Oval Office itself.

This major scandal has nothing to do with 9/11. The 9/11 attack was not an 'inside job' no matter what wackos such as Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell have to say.

More importantly, it also has nothing to do with the present Democratic hissy-fit over the firing of eight U.S. prosecuting attorneys. The President was well within his Constitutional authority to fire those attorneys at will.

The scandal that may well lead to the unraveling of the Bush White House revolves around the prosecution and imprisonment of the two Border Patrol agents who were sent to jail for over a decade for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler in the buttocks.

We know, for example, that the two men are not guilty of the charges brought against them. Their supervisors were present when the incident took place. We also know that U.S. Attorney and Bush crony Johnny Sutton hid evidence from the court and charged the two men under statutes that were not appropriate for their alleged crimes, for the single purpose of putting them away for a long, long time.

Why was Sutton so determined to get these men out of the way for over a decade?

We know, further, that members of the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security lied to Congress about this case. Republican Representative Dana Rohrabacker, R-California, can recount in minute detail each time a member of the Administration lied to him and his committee that was charged with investigating this case.

These Administration officials even admitted to that committee that they had lied.

What were their lies intended to hide?

People do not lie to Congress unless they are engaged in a cover up of some sort.

In addition, when Rep. Rohrabacker attempted to get the White House to agree to release the two Agents on bond pending the appeal of their sentence, even then the White House refused.

Why?

Part of the answer lies in formerly classified documents that were released under the Freedom of Information Act. Not only did Johnny Sutton grant the Mexican drug smuggler immunity in exchange for providing testimony against the two Agents, but he provided him with unlimited border pass privileges, even though Sutton knew he had engaged in more drug smuggling AFTER the incident in which he was shot in the buttocks by the Agents.

My friends, this kind of gross malfeasance occurs only when there is more beneath the surface than one can readily observe. Johnny Sutton, President Bush, and others involved in this case would not engage in such activity unless there were much more to hide.

The two Border Patrol agents were merely the tip of the iceberg. Under the surface lies a massive cauldron of corruption involving the Mexican government, the Bush administration, shady deals with criminals to appease Mexican government thugs, and heavy-handed attempts to suppress law enforcement at our southern border, while publicly claiming that 'we need to make sure our borders are secure.'

Sutton and others like him in the DOJ and the DHS would not be conducting these kinds of dirty deals unless they were part of an overall policy implemented by the Administration.

Rep. Rohrabacker has stated repeatedly that he is not 'out to get President Bush.' He has made it clear that he is not the enemy, even going as far as personally inviting the White House to come clean about the situation so that steps can be taken to correct it without soiling the President's reputation.

Yet at each and every juncture, Rohrabacker has been met with rudeness and stonewalling. Not even holding out an olive branch could sway the Bush White House.

As we have stated many, many times before on The Liberty Sphere, the President made what could be a politically fatal mistake when he refused to cooperate with Rep. Rohrabacker, Rep. Duncan Hunter, Rep. Tom Tancredo, and others within the Republican Party who were never the President's enemies.

Now he is facing a totally hostile environment in the Senate as the President's sworn political enemies are clearly attempting to grab at straws--anything to destroy him.

The President has refused to cooperate with the very people who have supported him through thick and thin. Now he must face hostile enemies who smell blood.

If the Democrats find out that the investigation of the firing of eight attorneys gets them nowhere, and that the dozens of other investigations they have opened all lead to dead-ends (and this most definitely WILL be the outcome), then they will gradually hop on the issue of the two innocent Border Patrol agents with a vengeance.

Of all of the investigations the Democrats hoped would lead to the demise of the Bush White House, this is the ONLY one that has the facts to back up the suspicions.

Dianne Feinstein has already sniffed out a coup. She has sent the President a memo calling for the release of Agents Ramos and Compean.

But the President is highly naive if he thinks she and her colleagues will stop there.

They will simply keep snooping around until they uncover the vast corruption involving our southern border and the country of Mexico--and the President's stubborn refusal to deal with it.

Whoever has been giving the President advice on this issue should be fired and sued for the return of their government salaries. It is obvious they are about three cards shy of a full deck and have done nothing but allow the President to become vulnerable to political suicide. In fact, their ineptitude is alarming.

Any political advisor who allows this to happen is nothing but a numbskull.

Even so, the President still has a chance to salvage his reputation, his Administration, and his Party, by coming clean, clearing out the sleaze that has infested the DOJ and the DHS, and setting the two Border Patrol agents free.

Johnny Sutton Lies to Congress on Border Patrol Agents

Washington, DC (TLS). On Tuesday of this week, U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, the Bush crony from Texas who has the responsibility to prosecute cases involving the nation's southern border, gave testimony before a Senate subcommittee.

The subcommittee is investigating government wrongdoing in the handling of the Ramos-Compean case. Agents Ramos and Compean are the two Border Patrol Agents who were falsely accused, tried, convicted, and sent to prison for over a decade for shooting an illegal alien drug smuggler in the buttocks.

The Liberty Sphere has posted a series of op-eds on this case, showing ample evidence from multiple sources indicating that these two Agents are the victims of a Bush Administration smear-job in order to protect its precious relationship with the corrupt Mexican government.

We already know Administration officials in the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security lied to Congressional Republicans investigating this case. These particular officials even admitted to their lies.

And now the point-man himself, Johnny Sutton, also lies to Congress.

This time, however, those lies are going to a Senate subcommittee under the control of the Bush Administration's arch-enemies rather than the members of the President's own Party in the House.

This begs the question as to why the Bush Administration would lie and stonewall to a group of Republicans who at least have some loyalty to the President, knowing full well that the investigation would eventually wind up in the hands of totally hostile political enemies in the Senate.

Sutton's testimony before the subcommittee chaired by Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-CA, was filled with misleading statements, deflections, half-truths, innuendo, and outright untruths. He left more questions unanswered than is acceptable.

Republican Senators who heard the testimony expressed deep frustration and a sense of incredulity over Sutton's obvious, overt non-answers and untruths.

And as for the Democrats, Senator Feinstein fired off a memo to President Bush stating that the two Border Patrol agents need to be freed from prison. Once she heard the unbelievable testimony of Sutton, the stage was set for a hostile confrontation with the President.

As we have done at least a dozen times over the past year, The Liberty Sphere calls on George W. Bush to bring himself to do the right thing and release from prison these innocent and falsely-accused men. We call for the outright dismissal of Johnny Sutton and anybody else in the Administration who lied to Congress about this case.

We also call for the President to take full responsibility for this debacle and travesty of justice at the hands of government officials, and then clean house.

Once again, unless Mr. Bush takes these steps now on his own, the nation is in for a coup at the hands of the Democrats in 2008, who will then proceed to clean house by throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Is this what you want, Mr. President?

The Liberty Sphere predicts that anything short of a full housecleaning by the President himself will result in more Republican casualties in 2008 than that which occurred in 1974 in the aftermath of the Nixon Watergate Scandal.

And at that point the President's legacy will be that he was worse than Nixon in nearly destroying the Republican Party.

D.C. Rally Aims to Free Jailed Border Patrol Agents

Washington, DC (TLS). A group of conservative radio talk show hosts and politicians will hold a major rally at Capitol Hill in order to demand the freedom of jailed Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean. The rally will also call attention to present terribly misguided amnesty legislation in Congress, sponsored and supported by persons such as Ted 'Senator Blowhard' Kennedy and John McCain.

The sponsors of the rally state that this bill must be defeated as part of America's attempt to secure its borders and turn back the invasion of illegal aliens.

The rally will also call for President Bush to fire U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton of El Paso, one of the main perpetrators of the assault on U.S. law enforcement officials and Border Patrol agents who do their jobs by stopping and apprehending illegal aliens.

Capitol Hill will be the site of the rally. The dates are April 22-25. The event is called 'The Hold Their Feet to the Fire 2007 Rally,' and is sponsored by The Federal for American Immigration Reform of Washington, DC.

Conservative talk radio will broadcast live from the rally for a 19-hour blitz featuring talk show hosts Roger Hedgecock, Edd Hendee, and Howie Carr, among others.

Katie Couric-CBS News' Spin of Attorney Firings

Charlotte, NC (TLS). As much as one would like to say that the slanted and downright dishonest journalism at CBS News is an isolated phenomenon, unfortunately the practices one observes being utilized by Katie Couric and CBS News is but one small example of a widespread problem in television news on the three major networks.

Couric and the brass at CBS News have pulled another fast one on the public by claiming that the actions of the Bush Administration in firing eight U.S. Prosecutors is 'unprecedented.'

Not only did Couric use the term 'unprecedented' to describe the dismissals, but she turned to a CBS News' legal advisor/reporter, who again stated that the firings were 'unprecedented.'

All of this was done, of course, to support the charges of ethically-challenged Democrats and Little Chucky Schumer that the firings were politically motivated.

The problem is that Couric's description of the actions of Attorney-General Alberto Gonzalez in dismissing the attorneys is simply not true. CBS News lied. Katie Couric lied. The firings are anything BUT 'unprecedented.'

Let me refresh the memories of the CBS producers and their anchor for just a moment. In 1993, President Bill Clinton summarily fired every single one of the U.S. Prosecutors in the Justice Department--all 93 of them.

In addition, the one and only reason that Clinton, via Attorney-General Janet Reno, fired all 93 U.S. Attorneys was purely a political one. Clinton wanted his own people in those positions, period. One of the fired prosecutors in particular was investigating the shady dealings of the Clintons in Arkansas and replaced by a Clinton crony.

Thus, the charge that Bush fired eight U.S. Attorneys 'for political purposes' seems rather disingenuous, hollow, and hypocritical coming from Democrats and their mouthpieces in the mainstream media. When are these dismissals ever NOT 'political?'

The 93 attorneys that Clinton and Reno dismissed had done no wrong. There was no stain on their performance. None had been accused of failing to accomplish the task to which they were assigned. Yet Clinton fired every last one of them.

So, the question becomes, why did Katie Couric and CBS News conveniently fail to report the 1993 Clinton Administration massacre of U.S. Attorneys while describing the dismissal of only 8 attorneys by the Bush Administration as 'unprecedented?'

If Couric and CBS News defend their actions by claiming that 1993 was different because a new President is expected to make changes in political appointments, then they will have done nothing but prove that the recent firing of eight is nothing unusual at all. They are POLITICAL APPOINTEES that serve at the discretion of the President.

Thus, if Clinton could dismiss all 93 attorneys in 1993 for political reasons which we grant to all Presidents, then what is the problem with Bush's firing 8 of these attorneys for political reasons?

Despite the cries of the dismissed attorneys and their defenders in claiming that prosecutors for the U.S. government should be 'free from the politics of Washington,' the fact of the matter is that without the political appointments they received, they would never have gotten those jobs at all. The very positions they hold are 'political' appointments and always have been.

In addition, invariably, story after story is beginning to slowly emerge as we find out more about the eight who were fired--stories that indicate these particular attorneys failed to perform a few crucial aspects of their jobs. In Washington State, for example, the U.S. Attorney failed to file a request for a recount of a very close and hotly contested race in that state. Others failed to expedite the investigations of widespread corruption and illegal activity on the part of some high-profile Democrats who so far have not only gotten away with their crimes but sit in powerful offices within the new Congress.

It is clear, therefore, that the eight prosecutors in question were negligent in performing their duty and needed to go.

In fact, there are more who need to go for different reasons, such as Johnny Sutton, who so far has succeeded in making a name for himself as perhaps the most corrupt attorney in the federal government.

However, CBS News and Katie Couric have been negligent in their duties to fully inform the public of all the pertinent facts in a story. Their statement that the firing of eight attorneys is 'unprecedented' is not only a lie, but it hides a basic truth that Clinton and company did far worse in firing all 93. And once again, CBS News has shown itself to be nothing more than a 30-minute advertisement for the Democrat Party.

Bring on the fairness doctrine!

The Gonzalez News Conference

Charlotte, NC (TLS). U.S. Attorney-General Alberto Gonzalez gave a news conference Tuesday afternoon to answer charges by Democrats that the recent firing of a handful of U.S. Attorneys was politically motivated.

Leading the charge for the Democrats is 'Little Chucky' Schumer, who claims that Gonzalez fired the attorneys because they did not investigate charges of Democrat corruption in Congress.

It seems obvious that Little Chucky is treading on thin ice with these charges, given the present ethically-challenged Democrat leadership in the U.S. Congress. At least a dozen top Democrats are under a cloud of suspicion due to charges of corruption and the breaking of federal law. Some of these very Democrats chair major committees in Congress, such as John Conyers, Patrick Leahy, and even Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

The fact that the crimes and misdemeanors of these and other Democrats in Congress were never adequately investigated by the Department of Justice, then yes, these U.S. Attorneys were not performing adequately and needed to be fired. In this regard, Gonzalez is 100% correct. Perhaps their replacements will get about the business of investigating the blatant disregard for the law, particularly on the part of those like Conyers, who broke federal campaign laws.

And this is precisely why Democrats are upset with the firings.

The real source of scandal within the U.S. Department of Justice surrounds U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, who interestingly was not fired. This is in spite of his vendetta against American law enforcement officials who wish to uphold the U.S. Code in apprehending law-breakers who enter the country illegally. Sutton's modus operandi toward law enforcement at the southern border is that if an officer does his job conscientiously in upholding federal law concerning illegal aliens, he/she can expect to be punished by Sutton by being hauled to court, tried, and found guilty, and then tossed into prison to serve lengthy sentences.

Two border patrol agents and at least four other lawmen in Texas have suffered under the oppressive, heavy hand of a U.S. Attorney who has turned his head to clear federal law in the U.S. Code concerning illegal aliens.

Yet in the Gonzalez massacre of U.S. Attorneys, Sutton was spared.

Remember, Sutton is a Bush crony in Texas. Not only that, but Bush has a tarnished track record when it comes to immigration. He has privately stated that America is not a place but a concept. It is only one small baby-step from there to embracing open borders. Sutton has certainly given the citizens of America and the government of Mexico the impression that open borders are already a reality, in spite of federal law to the contrary.

To be fair, Mr. Bush should have ordered Gonzalez to fire ALL U.S. Attorneys just as Bill Clinton did during the first days of his second term in office. But that is another story in and of itself.

On Tuesday of this week, Bush was in Mexico promising to the Mexican President that he would 'work very hard toward immigration reform legislation.'

That must have been music to the ears of the Mexican government and the thousands of law-breakers who wish to rape and plunder this nation without any risk of prosecution.

Ted Kennedy and John McCain have already sponsored legislation in the Senate that would, in effect, grant amnesty to illegal aliens, just like that, with one swipe of the pen. Mr. Bush's proposals are as close as one can get to an amnesty program without going quite as far as the Kennedy-McCain plan.

If the Democrats were truly smart, they would recognize that there IS a scandal of gargantuan proportions involving Sutton, the U.S. Justice Department, the Department of Homeland Security, Alberto Gonzalez, and the President himself. The only problem is that Democrats are co-conspirators in this particular scandal of subverting federal law and allowing the invasion of illegal aliens into this country unhindered. This is the reason you will not hear one peep out of Little Chucky Schumer about it.

Little Chucky and rest of his cohorts are scared to death that the new attorneys Gonzalez will hire will target the corrupt law-breakers who Chair committees in the new Democrat majority in Congress!

As for the Sutton-Homeland Security-Justice Department scandal, Gonzalez continues to pretend it does not exist, treating it as the white elephant sitting on the dining room table that everyone knows is there but no one is willing to acknowledge. The problem is that with the denial, the flesh-eating bacteria that this scandal poses only continues its ooze toward infecting the entirety of the Bush administration.

FIRE JOHNNY SUTTON!

Washington, DC (TLS). Enough is enough. U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton should be fired immediately. And this is the the very least of the actions that should be taken. Investigations should ensue immediately concerning the possibility of felonies committed by Sutton in aiding and abetting illegal aliens.

A definite pattern can now be seen concerning Sutton's conduct as the U.S. Attorney in El Paso, Texas, who is charged with the role of prosecuting cases revolving around border security, illegal aliens, and drug smuggling from Mexico. Over a period of years, according to numerous published reports, including WorldNetDaily, Sutton has systematically targeted for prosecution U.S. law enforcement officials who use force in apprehending illegal aliens, even when the the lives of the lawmen were endangered.

One such case resulted in a new trial for the accused, culminating in a jury finding the falsely accused law officer innocent and charging Sutton with prosecutorial misconduct.

So, why is a rogue prosecutor still allowed to assault our law enforcement officials who are protecting our border?

The sad truth, however, is that Sutton is only the tip of the iceberg. Word has come today that the Department of Homeland Security actually encourages 'open borders.' This is now the official policy of the department under director Michael Chertoff who has been like a 'Nightmare on Elm Street' ever since he was appointed to the post. Under Chertoff's watch the Department of Homeland Security has disintegrated into a focal point for the politically correct and a cheerleading squad for the concept of 'open borders' in spite of Americans' growing outrage at the failure to enforce the nation's illegal alien laws.

So far in this squalid affair, the President has yet to act on any of it. The two falsely accused border patrol agents are still in prison, Sutton is still in El Paso unleashing his assault on American law enforcement at our border, Chertoff is turning Homeland Security into a joke, and the President is apparently suffering from a severe case of inertia.

As we have stated repeatedly on The Liberty Sphere, only the President can clear up this scandal. As of now, time ticks away and the stain on the Republic only grows more putrid by the day.

Johnny Sutton Is At It Again

Washington, DC (TLS). U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton of El Paso, Texas is at it again. This time he is seeking a seven-year prison term for a Texas law enforcement official who supposedly 'violated the civil rights' of an illegal alien the lawman had apprehended.

It was Sutton who was largely responsible for the lengthy prison terms of the two Border Patrol agents who shot at an illegal alien drug smuggler, hitting him in the buttocks. Agents Ramos and Compean are serving 11 and 12-year sentences.

Sutton is proving himself to be a one-man hit squad, targeting American law enforcement officials who are doing the job they were hired to do--protect the border from illegal aliens. Since illegal aliens are law-breakers, these law enforcement officials are correct in apprehending them, including the use of force if necessary.

But the U.S. Attorney in the area apparently believes that any U.S. law enforcement official who dares enforce our laws against illegal aliens should be severely punished.

Perhaps someone should remind Johnny Sutton that aiding and abetting illegal aliens is a FELONY under the U.S. Code.

Thus, it is Sutton who should be serving a lengthy prison term.
