Smoking Gun Leads to Oval Office

Important and shocking facts have surfaced within the last few days that may indicate high level corruption at the Bush White House. These facts may well lead straight to the Oval Office itself.

This major scandal has nothing to do with 9/11. The 9/11 attack was not an 'inside job' no matter what wackos such as Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell have to say.

More importantly, it also has nothing to do with the present Democratic hissy-fit over the firing of eight U.S. prosecuting attorneys. The President was well within his Constitutional authority to fire those attorneys at will.

The scandal that may well lead to the unraveling of the Bush White House revolves around the prosecution and imprisonment of the two Border Patrol agents who were sent to jail for over a decade for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler in the buttocks.

We know, for example, that the two men are not guilty of the charges brought against them. Their supervisors were present when the incident took place. We also know that U.S. Attorney and Bush crony Johnny Sutton hid evidence from the court and charged the two men under statutes that were not appropriate for their alleged crimes, for the single purpose of putting them away for a long, long time.

Why was Sutton so determined to get these men out of the way for over a decade?

We know, further, that members of the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security lied to Congress about this case. Republican Representative Dana Rohrabacker, R-California, can recount in minute detail each time a member of the Administration lied to him and his committee that was charged with investigating this case.

These Administration officials even admitted to that committee that they had lied.

What were their lies intended to hide?

People do not lie to Congress unless they are engaged in a cover up of some sort.

In addition, when Rep. Rohrabacker attempted to get the White House to agree to release the two Agents on bond pending the appeal of their sentence, even then the White House refused.

Why?

Part of the answer lies in formerly classified documents that were released under the Freedom of Information Act. Not only did Johnny Sutton grant the Mexican drug smuggler immunity in exchange for providing testimony against the two Agents, but he provided him with unlimited border pass privileges, even though Sutton knew he had engaged in more drug smuggling AFTER the incident in which he was shot in the buttocks by the Agents.

My friends, this kind of gross malfeasance occurs only when there is more beneath the surface than one can readily observe. Johnny Sutton, President Bush, and others involved in this case would not engage in such activity unless there were much more to hide.

The two Border Patrol agents were merely the tip of the iceberg. Under the surface lies a massive cauldron of corruption involving the Mexican government, the Bush administration, shady deals with criminals to appease Mexican government thugs, and heavy-handed attempts to suppress law enforcement at our southern border, while publicly claiming that 'we need to make sure our borders are secure.'

Sutton and others like him in the DOJ and the DHS would not be conducting these kinds of dirty deals unless they were part of an overall policy implemented by the Administration.

Rep. Rohrabacker has stated repeatedly that he is not 'out to get President Bush.' He has made it clear that he is not the enemy, even going as far as personally inviting the White House to come clean about the situation so that steps can be taken to correct it without soiling the President's reputation.

Yet at each and every juncture, Rohrabacker has been met with rudeness and stonewalling. Not even holding out an olive branch could sway the Bush White House.

As we have stated many, many times before on The Liberty Sphere, the President made what could be a politically fatal mistake when he refused to cooperate with Rep. Rohrabacker, Rep. Duncan Hunter, Rep. Tom Tancredo, and others within the Republican Party who were never the President's enemies.

Now he is facing a totally hostile environment in the Senate as the President's sworn political enemies are clearly attempting to grab at straws--anything to destroy him.

The President has refused to cooperate with the very people who have supported him through thick and thin. Now he must face hostile enemies who smell blood.

If the Democrats find out that the investigation of the firing of eight attorneys gets them nowhere, and that the dozens of other investigations they have opened all lead to dead-ends (and this most definitely WILL be the outcome), then they will gradually hop on the issue of the two innocent Border Patrol agents with a vengeance.

Of all of the investigations the Democrats hoped would lead to the demise of the Bush White House, this is the ONLY one that has the facts to back up the suspicions.

Dianne Feinstein has already sniffed out a coup. She has sent the President a memo calling for the release of Agents Ramos and Compean.

But the President is highly naive if he thinks she and her colleagues will stop there.

They will simply keep snooping around until they uncover the vast corruption involving our southern border and the country of Mexico--and the President's stubborn refusal to deal with it.

Whoever has been giving the President advice on this issue should be fired and sued for the return of their government salaries. It is obvious they are about three cards shy of a full deck and have done nothing but allow the President to become vulnerable to political suicide. In fact, their ineptitude is alarming.

Any political advisor who allows this to happen is nothing but a numbskull.

Even so, the President still has a chance to salvage his reputation, his Administration, and his Party, by coming clean, clearing out the sleaze that has infested the DOJ and the DHS, and setting the two Border Patrol agents free.

Sen. Barbara Boxer Wants to Impeach Bush

Washington, DC (TLS). For the majority of the Bush Presidency The Liberty Sphere has supported most of the policies and political philosophy propounded by Mr. Bush and his administration.

Of course, we had reservations about some things, such as the notion that a 'conservative' can actually support such a massive expansion of big government, and the tendency to place limits on some of our time-honored, sacred Constitutional rights.

However, we favored the War in Afghanistan, the War in Iraq, both of which are tributaries of the overall War on Terror. We believe that mistakes have been made that severely hampered our progress in these areas, not the least of which has been listening to the wrong people, particularly those within the politically correct movement who seem to hold to the idiotic premise that war can be 'clean, quick, and tidy.'

War by its very nature is nasty, protracted, and bloody. Yet it is sometimes an unavoidable necessary evil. Fighting wars with the tactics used in Viet Nam is a recipe for failure. If we must go to War, it must be to win no matter how much damage is done to the enemy.

You don't fight wars like playing a nice little game of tiddly winks.

We favored the Bush tax cuts, the attempt to be more supportive of private educational initiatives, the opposition to abortion, and appointing to the Supreme Court only those justices that hold to a strict constructionist model.

We do, however, have increasing frustration and deep reservations about some of the Bush initiatives, most of which arise out of the President's personal weaknesses, such as his stubbornness with regard to such things as freeing two innocent Border Patrol agents, his stance on immigration, and other such indefensible positions.

But impeachment? That is way too extreme.

Not to Barbara Boxer's way of thinking, however. Recently Boxer granted an interview in which she stated that she thinks the notion of impeaching the President 'should be put on the table.'

This is in addition to her scheme along with Hillary Clinton and other Democrats to silence Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly by bringing back 'the Fairness Doctrine.'

We make no attempt to hide the fact that we believe Barbara Boxer, Hillary Clinton, Dianne Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi, and and several others to be leftwing nutcases. But to suggest that it is time to impeach Mr. Bush is so far over the top that perhaps it is time to consider expulsion for some members of Congress, such as a few of the aforementioned socialists.

Rohrabacher: 'Bush Doesn't Give a Damn'

Washington, DC (TLS). A Republican Congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives stated that President Bush 'doesn't give a damn' about the lives of the two Border Patrol agents who sit in prison, their request to be released on bond pending an appeal of their conviction denied. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-CA, made the charge in response to the court's decision to deny the release of the two falsely accused agents who shot an illegal alien drug smuggler from Mexico in the buttocks.

According to Rep. Rohrabacher, 'the lives of agents Ramos and Compean are obviously at risk, and the President not only doesn't care about securing our southern border, he doesn't give a damn about those who protect it.'

Rohrabacher lays the blame for the entire fiasco directly at the feet of the President of the United States, whom the Congressman says is more concerned about the public relations nightmare with Mexico in the event of the release of the two agents than he is about their lives. Fear of the damage the release of the two would do to Bush's reputation with the Mexican government is the driving factor in the President's refusal to issue pardons, according to Rohrabacher.

The Liberty Sphere agrees. As we reported on Friday, nothing that has come to light about the case in the last few weeks has done anything but reinforce initial suspicions that the two Border Patrol agents are the victims of a government set-up job. The Department of Homeland Security admitted to Congress that it lied in order to secure a conviction of the two men.

Yet the President still refuses to pardon the agents or reprimand government officials handling the case. At the very least investigations should ensue into gross misconduct, and high crimes and misdemeanors, on the part of at least a dozen or more government officials connected with the case.

The longer the President waits to act the more he himself is implicated in this sordid mess.

Is This the Beginning of the End of the Bush Presidency?

Washington, DC (TLS). A dark cloud has descended upon the nation's capital over the past 24 hours. What began as whispers in the corners of hallways around the beltway is now becoming an angry, demanding crescendo of outrage directed at the President of the United States, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Homeland Security. One Republican lawmaker publicly warned the President late Wednesday that impeachment looms in his future if immediate action is not taken to correct a most dreadful travesty of justice, the imprisonment of two Border Patrol Agents about whom the government admits it lied in order to secure their conviction.

The thing that is adding fuel to the fire concerning the possibility of impeachment is the fact that one of the Agents was beaten to within an inch of his life over the weekend in a prison facility in which he was placed along with the general prison population--something that the government promised and assured the public it would NOT do. The attack has resulted in outrage among Republican lawmakers on the Hill. U.S. House Representative Dana Rohrabacher, R-CA, was so enraged that he directly issued a warning to the President. Rohrabacher stated at a news conference late Wednesday, "I tell you Mr. President, if these men - especially after this assault - are murdered in prison, or if they lose their lives, there's going to be some sort of impeachment talk in Capitol Hill."

Rep. Rohrabacher is not the only one within the President's own party that are talking impeachment. Republicans are finally getting the message through their thick skulls that Americans are completely fed up with the government's conduct on the issue of illegal aliens. They are sick of people being allowed to work here, get medical care here, and receive an education here who do not go by the rules like everyone else who wishes to be good citizens...citizens who obey the laws of their adopted country. Americans are fed up with employers who look the other way when hiring those they know to be illegal aliens so that they can save a few bucks. And Americans are completely enraged that nothing is being done to secure our border.

And let me digress for just a moment to issue a warning to Democrats about this. Don't think that you escape culpability in this massive national disgrace. For years you have promoted the idea of open borders, lax enforcement of immigration law, and the like, because you see Hispanics as an easy mark for support. You want their votes, so you are just as guilty as Republican big business in looking the other way. Thus, if you turn this into a political issue with which to whip Republicans, take it from me--it AIN'T gonna fly. We are coming after YOU too. And you will pay a heavy price in the next election. And don't start with the hypocritical denunciations of Republicans, when you yourselves have closets so full of dirty laundry that the stench emanates upward to high heaven. I will be more than happy to roll out your record on immigration for all the world to see if you so much as hint that you plan to use this as political fodder.

Republicans on the Hill are finally getting the message, and they are in no mood to continue to play games with the nation's laws and security in order to appease a President whose shady dealings with the Mexican government trump the nation's clearly-stated laws on illegal immigration.

What began as a pesky little court case involving two supposed 'bad cops,' as the Department of Homeland Security described them, has gradually turned into a scandal of gargantuan proportions. This scandal implicates the U.S. Attorney who prosecuted the case, Johnny Sutton, the Judge in the case, Kathleen Cardone, Homeland Security Inspector-General Richard L. Skinner, who lied to Congress about the case, the U.S. Department of Justice, and even the White House itself. The fact that the White House has engaged in consistent stonewalling when questions are asked about the Border Patrol Hoax, plus the President's foot-dragging in the process of pardons for the two innocent Agents, only increases suspicions and outrage.

We can rest assured that Republicans in Congress notice the dubious actions of the White House. And they are snooping, as well they should. Already feeling betrayed by a President whose poor ratings in the polls brought about the loss of Congress, Republicans have very little patience with the President when it comes to a highly emotional issue that most Americans feel has been placed on the back burner--illegal aliens invading our country, aided and abetted by a Republican President and Liberal Democrats who make strange bedfellows but who are co-conspirators in allowing U.S. law to be broken for ulterior motives. The public clearly wants something done to stop it, and Republicans sense the deep sense of outrage out there in the heartland. They have no intention of allowing Mr. Bush to bring them another defeat in 2008. If he does not get the message and issue pardons for the two Agents, then Republicans will gladly seize upon the impeachment process to show the electorate that they clearly DO NOT support a President who is selling the nation's soul to Mexico.

Thus, as much as I loathe quoting a question from Dan Rather, it seems very appropriate here.

Republican Lawmaker Warns Bush of Impeachment

Washington, DC (TLS). With outrage reaching a fever pitch on Capitol Hill over the government's admission that it lied to convict two Border Patrol Agents, one Republican lawmaker is warning President Bush of impeachment proceedings. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-CA, warned the President in a news conference late Wednesday that if the two incarcerated Agents are murdered or die in prison, the President himself will be held personally responsible.

Republican lawmakers have demanded the full and free Presidential pardon of the two Agents who did the job they were hired to do to protect the nation's borders from illegal aliens. So far, the President has been dragging his feet, and White House spokesman Tony Snow has persistently stonewalled on questions related to the government's mishandling of the case, including fabricating and falsifying evidence, lying to a court of law, lying to Congress, and incarcerating two men the government knew to be innocent of the charges.

Unless the President immediately takes the steps necessary to release the two men from prison and launch a full, relentless investigation of the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice, then I am quite certain Republicans will do the job Democrats have threatened in the past. They will launch impeachment hearings against the President.

All of this, of course, would be unnecessary if the President steps up to the plate, admits that people within the government engaged in willful deception, take steps to prosecute the guilty, and releases the innocent Agents from prison. This would clear the President's name and reputation and avert pending impeachment proceedings launched by members of his own party.

As it stands now, however, the President is implicated in the entire mess due to his close ties to the main players. If the President was unaware of the corruption of his cronies in this case, then he needs to say so and undertake the necessary steps to rid the government of their shameful presence.
