The Obama-Democrat Attack on Small Business

As we warned during the short process Congress undertook to pass this massive 'stimulus' spending fraud, the Obama-Democrat economic plan will hurt small businesses and their owners, and ultimately, American workers.

This is the subject of my column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

The President of the American Small Business Association warns of dire consequences resulting from the stimulus plan, and Glenn Beck has the video of it, which I provide at the link.

Thanks in advance for reading it and passing it along.

Cato Institute: Downside to 'Universal Healthcare'

On Thursday of this week Barack Obama gathered a team of various persons to delve into the subject of 'healthcare reform.' And the Cato Institute immediately published a study from Feb. 28 as a response.

An excerpt:

Universal health insurance does not necessarily mean universal access to health care. In practice, many countries promise universal coverage but ration care or have extremely long waiting lists for treatment. Those countries that have single-payer systems or systems heavily weighted toward government control are the most likely to face waiting lists, rationing, restrictions on the choice of physician, and other barriers to care.

Is this really what we want in America?

Blood-Sucking Leeches

This is not for those who obtained a mortgage in good faith, knowing that they had the means at the time to make the monthly payments.

And let's not forget that the overwhelming majority of Americans are still paying off their mortgages on a monthly basis, just as always, even in this economic downturn.

But to those who fall into a different category, listen up.

If you obtained a mortgage knowing full well that you would not be able, in the long run, to afford to pay back the money you borrowed, and now you are expecting a government bailout, you are nothing more than a blood-sucking leech.

Why should I as a taxpayer have to pay for your mortgage just because you can't?

And get this. A study was recently conducted which shows that those who got into trouble a few months ago with their mortgage lenders and worked out a reduced interest rate and payment deal are now in trouble once again. Many of these are seeking yet another 'deal.'

Where does it end?

Personally, I don't want a bunch of blood-sucking leeches all over me, and I don't think most you do, either.

Barack the Barbarian at It Again

The announcement came on Friday that Barack Obama will definitely rescind a Bush executive order preventing the use of human embryos for stem cell research.

Stem cell research does just as well, if not better, with ADULT stem cells rather than embryonic stem cells, no matter what the liars in government, liberal medicine, and the media tell you.

So, once again, Barack Obama shows America that he is nothing more than a bloodthirsty barbarian. This is getting to be a regular thing.

Armed and Safe reports that Illinois is still tightening the screws on gun owners.

Western Rifle Shooters Association posts very important info and links concerning 'Oath Keepers.' Read it all.

Blogonomicon has a great quote of the day that could well be used to describe the Obama economy.

Codrea's Gun Rights Examiner takes a look at the attitude toward the 2nd Amendment by the New Black Panther Party.

And then take a look at Codrea's War on Guns. It seems that over at DIGG, the antis are burying gun rights articles, preventing them from getting widespread coverage. They also target conservative articles about Obama as well. The antidote? Supporters need to read our Examiner articles and DIGG them so that they can make it to the top tiers of Digg. This means a wide readership.

Free in Idaho provides good reading entitled, 'American Bullets are Not the Problem.'

Ride Fast and Shoot Straight says 'most of the gun owners are gone.' Read it to see what he means.

Brigid says it's time to 'get out the champagne and the duck calls!' It seems that she and several other of our friends we regularly link to have been named to the list of the nation's best gun blogs! Congrats!!

Robb Allen has a link that shows us what a trillion dollars would actually look like. A trillion here, a trillion there, and pretty soon, you're talking real money!

Mike McCarville has a MUST-read entitled, 'Obama Administration Attacks Energy Producers.'

The Belmont Club provides an eye-opening on the economy with, 'Rearranging the Deck Chairs on the Titanic.'

Pamela Geller has put together a great photo gallery showing that the taxpayer revolt that started with the 'tea parties' never stopped. They're still out there every day! Take a look.

Days of our Trailers reports the latest snark from the Paul Helmke and the Brady campaign. It seems it backfired on him, though...

The Rustmeister posts a good one today entitled, 'Lotsa Rope, Many Trees.' Read it!

Texas Fred has a MUST-read with 'Barack Obama and the Death of America.'

Notoriously Conservative asks a very good question. Why doesn't anyone want to be a part of Obama's cabinet?

Well, the Ol' Broad hasn't published today's edition of Obamarama yet, but she has THIS that you must see. It seems one of the Obama media supporters has called for Rush Limbaugh to be executed for 'speaking against Obama.' Not only did she say it on her radio show, but she said it on Larry King. Click the link for details.

Taxpayer Revolt II: New Wave of 'Tea Parties'

It's coming on tax filing day, April 15--a new wave of 'Tea Party' revolts, where taxpayers take to the streets to protest the Obama-Democrat spending spree.

This is the subject of today's column at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Read and share widely. We need to get the word out as soon as possible to give local organizers plenty of time to get ready. Thanks!

Biden Says If You're Non-Union, You Can Forget It

Vice-President Joe Biden stated on Thursday that the U.S. economic stimulus plan devised by Barack Obama and the Democrats is aimed at 'protecting and boosting Union jobs.'

So now the truth comes out!

If you work for a small business, or you work in the South (where most jobs are non-Union), then you can forget it. The stimulus plan is not designed for you, according to Biden.

What a clown.

And this should be the absolute, final, indisputable proof that Obama and his entire administration is nothing but a bunch of clowns.

Don't Look Now, but the FDIC is Going Broke!

The FDIC, which federally insures the bank accounts of all Americans up to $200,000 per account, is going broke.

You know that things are bad in the country when your bank account insurer is on the brink of bankruptcy.

According to the Wall Street Journal this morning, the U.S. Senate moved to allow the FDIC to borrow up to 500 billion dollars.

The problem is the U.S. Government is going broke as well. What does everyone do when the government's money runs out?

Stock Market Thunders Against Obama Plan

Although Americans in their mesmerized desire for a 'messiah' to come from heaven and save them from their present woes seem to approve of the Obama voo-doo anyway, the Stock Market keeps thundering against the Obama plan for the economy.

Yesterday was an unmitigated disaster as stocks plunged another 200 points, sending the Dow down to the lower 6000 level.

We haven't seen numbers like that 20 years.

The question is, how low can the Dow go? Some warn that if the trend continues, and if Obama keeps sending the nation spiraling into mind-blowing debt, the U.S. will actually owe more money than there is in the world.

And that, my friends, is what we call the 'doomsday scenario.'

Obsessed with the 'Gun Culture?'

From time to time I get emails from readers wanting to know 'why are you so obsessed with the gun culture when the world faces so many more important issues today?'

My response is the subject of today's column at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Give it a read and pass it along, especially to someone who is not convinced that guns are all that important.

Amateurs

The thing we all need to stop and consider is that the only way to adequately understand the Obama administration is to recognize that what we are dealing with is a bunch of amateurs, sophomoric lightweights who do not know what they are doing.

Take, for example, the Obama penchant for publicly going after each and every reporter who asks him tough questions or offers criticism, the latest being Rush Limbaugh.

While Democrats are falling all over themselves believing they have 'a winning strategy' by making Rush the focus of all opposition to Obama, at least one veteran Democratic strategist warns that the tactic is one big mistake.

Susan Estrich, longtime advisor to several of the top Democratic politicians and candidates in the country, warns that attacking Limbaugh is fraught with danger on every hand. Newsbusters
has the complete story.

Romano: Economy 'Too Big to Save'

From Robert Romano of Americans for Limited Government comes this dire assessment--the crumbling American financial system may be too big to save. The bailouts are not working, and Obama's prescriptions are clearly only making matters worse.

"Too Big to Save"
By Robert Romano

In the debate over moral hazard, one argument often made is that certain institutions are simply too big to fail. That, if they are allowed to fail, the greater economy will be irreparably damaged, and the people will be unnecessarily hurt.

The reality emerging, however, is that the crumbling financial system is, in fact, too big to save. And the bailouts themselves are irreparably damaging the economy, and yes, the people are hurting badly as a result. Unnecessarily.

On March 2nd, the Treasury and Federal Reserve unveiled the latest bailout for troubled insurance giant AIG—another $30 billion from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) for a grand total of $173 billion thus far. This follows a long line of bailouts for this company—and others—that come in for money, and then show up just months later looking for yet more when the last bailout fails to return the company to profitability.

The argument being made by the Fed and Treasury, as reported by yesterday by the Wall Street Journal in “AIG’s Black Box,” is that these companies are “systemically important”—or in other words, too big to fail.

Under that comes everybody that has latched on to the TARP or the Fed’s discount window for cash: banks, creditors, investment firms, insurance companies, automakers, and on down the line.

To be certain, the bad news keeps rolling in. GM and Chrysler have received a combined $17 billion from TARP, but as Bloomberg reports, the companies are still descending into insolvency as sales figures come in worse than expected. They will likely follow on the heels of AIG and return to the Treasury with hat in hand, begging the taxpayers for more loans that they probably won’t be able to pay back.

Another example of government failing to plug a hole in a dam that has already broken is its ill-conceived foreclosure “prevention” schemes. In 2008, Congress dedicated some $300 billion for that purpose, and yet 2.3 million foreclosures happened anyway. In 2009, the Obama Administration is proposing another $75 billion to “prevent” foreclosures.

It gets worse. Last year, Congress spent some $200 billion to purchase Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac debt. Since TARP, the number’s up to $600 billion for purchasing mortgage-backed securities—which were sold by the Government Sponsored Enterprises all over the world with the implicit backing of the federal government. And now, this year, the Obama Administration wants to allocate another $200 billion for Fannie and Freddie to reduce mortgage rates for those who cannot pay at the expense of those who are making their payments on time and in full.

Stand back even further, and the picture only grows grimmer. Last year, $150 billion was dedicated to economic “stimulus.” This year, the number grew to $787 billion. Last year, $700 billion was dedicated to the Troubled Asset Relief Program, much of which still cannot be accounted for. This year, President Obama makes TARP a line on his budget—another $750 billion—“just in case.”

Does anyone see a pattern here? We do. The bailouts are not working. They have all to date proven to be insufficient at addressing the structural problems internally and externally that prevent these companies from returning to solvency and self-sufficiency. They should be allowed to fail. Allowed to go bankrupt. And allowed to be gutted by market forces.

Instead, these businesses are rapidly becoming nationalized as de facto agencies of government; yet more lines on the budget. What is happening is akin to the people of Pompei that were showered and solidified in volcanic ash ages ago. Neither will return to life any time soon.

Meanwhile, it is the issues that government refuses to address that are all the more disconcerting for the American taxpayer.

To date, Congress has not voted upon any proposals to restore price stability by eliminating the dual mandate at the Federal Reserve—it was easy money from the Fed that accommodated excessive lending that created the housing bubble in the first place. Nor has there been an up-or-down vote to reduce spending, balance the budget, pay down the national debt, and get America off its addiction to foreign credit, which further allows this unbridled spending spree to continue unabated.

The icing on the cake, though, is President Obama’s proposed $3.6 trillion budget that will expand the deficit for 2009 to $1.75 trillion. The national debt will grow to well over $11 trillion. One can almost hear the American taxpayer’s head exploding.

The debt being placed upon the American people is a heavy burden that they did not ask for, did not vote for, and is one that can never possibly be paid back.

The dawning reality is that these companies: AIG, the automakers, the banks, the housing sector—indeed, Big Government itself—are not too big to fail, but too big to save.

And that case must be made loud and clear to lawmakers before they proceed even further into the breach. Before the economy is irreparably broken and the nation forever bankrupted. Before the people becomes slaves to the national debt. In short, before it is too late.

Robert Romano is the Senior Editor of ALG News Bureau.

SPECIAL NEWS FLASH: Treasury Secretary

Word comes late Wednesday evening that Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is 'in over his head,' attempting to fly solo in the Treasury Department with no aides and deputies to help.

Congress has not yet given approval to nominees chosen to work in the Treasury Department, despite the fact that Democrats control both houses.

The result? Disarray, frustration, bewilderment, and bumbling.

And Geithner certainly hasn't gained much support from members of Congress in either Party. In fact, the 'inside-the-beltway' rumor is that he is basically a joke.

ALERT! Obama Develops Nixonian 'Enemies List'

Via Matt Drudge, Politico is reporting today that Barack Obama is developing a Nixon-like 'enemies list' to target those in the news media who criticize him.

The focus at present is on Rush Limbaugh, whom the White House says it will 'monitor.'

But Rush isn't the only one. Obama has also called out Sean Hannity, and 2 reporters on CNBC who dared question his economic proposals that have done nothing but worsen an already dreadful financial landscape.

We warned about this before the election. Obama has a very thin skin and takes criticism personally. And, as he showed during the campaign, he will not hesitate to go after, in public, any reporter who asks him tough questions or criticizes his ideas in any way.

Sieg Heil!

Obama's Politburo Creates a 'Pravda'

In a scenario eerily reminiscent of the old Communist Party's official propaganda machine in the USSR, Barack Obama's 'politburo' has created a 'Pravda' of its own.

It seems that the Obama machine is in collusion with certain influential reporters in the mainstream media, so much so that daily phone conferences are held with 4 of the talking heads to coordinate their 'talking points' to make Obama look good.

Not surprisingly, on any given day, the members of Obama's Pravda all mouth the very same talking points on issues as they report from their home base, whether it be NBC or CNN, or others.

And you have to give them credit. It's working. The American public has been dumbed down so much they don't know the difference for the most part. But this is not the job of journalists!

When journalists engage in this type of coordinated effort to push the agenda of the political block in power, they have immediately ceased to function as journalists and have taken up the mantle of the purveyors of propaganda, just as the old Pravda did for the Commies.

This unconscionable tactic on the part of 'reporters' such as NBC's George Stephanopoulos, and CNN's Paul Begala and James Carville, is to be resoundingly condemned by any and all serious journalists.

And, of course, the coordinator for all of this under-the-table manipulation of the media is none other than Rahm Emanuel.

Read the entire nauseating report HERE.

In a stunning admission, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint, R-SC, stated in an interview that there are only around 15 true conservatives in the U.S. Senate.

And this is the subject of my column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

In addition to the interview, there is also an interesting video of DeMint's comments on the 1.2 trillion dollar spending spree enacted by Obama and the Democrats.

Read it, and spread the word. And thanks!

Obama's Fatal Foreign Policy Error

TO UNDERSTAND HOW it came to pass that six weeks after Operation Cast Lead, the US has joined the nations of the world in funding Hamas and is curtailing its military assistance to Israel, it is necessary to understand Israel's domestic politics.

What a complete, bumbling, irresponsible, and reckless buffoon! Israel now has a rational Prime Minister in Netanyahu. We in America have President Dumbo.

Read the entire nauseating report filed by renown Israeli journalist, Caroline Glick.

'A Note to Mr. Steele': SHUT UP!

Michelle Malkin has 'A Note to Michael Steele' concerning his untimely and poorly-chosen words in criticism of Rush Limbaugh and the GOP.

He even agreed with a commentator that the GOP Convention 'looked like Nazi Germany.'

Michael Steele is turning out to be one of the worst mistakes the GOP ever made in choosing an RNC head.

So, here is MY note to Mr. Steele: 'I don't know what you are, but you AIN'T a conservative! And we don't need you out running your mouth like the other RINOS who have run the Party into the ground. So, SHUT UP!'

The GOP is in disarray, but conservatives aren't. We are as united and determined as ever...to rid leadership posts of vermin who stand against every single principle that made the GOP into a viable alternative to liberalism. And if the GOP is insistent on continuing on this course, we most definitely will bolt and bid you good-bye.

Geert Wilders Takes CPAC by Storm

Although he was not invited to speak at the main event, an alternative event was planned at the CPAC convention featuring embattled Dutch politician Geert Wilders, who was indicted in the Netherlands for 'speaking against Islam.'

Wilders was also refused entrance into the U.K. for 'speaking against Islam.'

But there were several thousand American patriots who were determined to allow Wilders to speak at CPAC, although they had to set up shop in an alternative area. In fact, the Wilders event was so heavily attended that listeners had to be placed in every single nook and cranny of the venue.

Be sure to click on the link and view the pics, read the commentary, and then read Wilders' stunning, eloquent defense of free speech in a world where human liberty is under attack as perhaps never before.

Obama, Brown to Forge Global New Deal?

The prime minister (Gordon Brown of the U.K.) will borrow from the rhetoric of Franklin Roosevelt, who introduced the government-financed New Deal to tackle the US Depression of the 1930s. He will argue that his 21st century “global new deal” will also require public spending on a huge world-wide scale.

Don't look now, but our illustrious Commie-in-Chief is poised to join with liberal U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown to spend mega-trillions of the world's tax dollars to end the current recession.

Birds of a feather flock together...to plunge the world further into chaos for ulterior purposes.

Gov't to Track Citizens Via Drivers' Licenses!

In one of the most ominous signals yet that the U.S. government is quickly raging out of control in its attempt to totally dominate the lives of Americans, the Department of Homeland Security stated that radio-signals from microchips placed on drivers' licenses could be used to track citizens' movements and activities.

The plan reportedly has the full support of Obama's Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitano.

Under the guise of using the devise to track 'subversives' who attend 'anti-government rallies,' Homeland Security is actually making a gigantic leap forward into the realm of Orwell's 1984 nightmare, where an all-powerful, oppressive government kept watch on each individual citizen.

Needless to say, citizen privacy advocates are crying foul, and rightly so.

With the device neatly embedded in your drivers' license, the electronic signal could be used, for example, by Obama's Communist minions to 'track your attendance' at a taxpayer tea party revolt!

Columbia, Half of S.C. Under Winter Storm

Half of the state of South Carolina is either under a winter storm warning or a winter storm advisory until 7 AM Monday morning.

The Columbia area is under the advisory as conditions could become hazardous with sleet, freezing rain, and accumulations of ice on roadways.

The Upstate of South Carolina, including Greenville-Spartanburg, Cherokee, Union, and as far south as Laurens and Newberry, is under a winter storm warning with snow accumulations of up to 7 inches or more.

Barack Obama--Pro-Abortion, Anti-Freedom

The title says it all. Obama will in all likelihood rescind Bush's 'conscience' clause provision for doctors, nurses, and pharmacists who wish to opt out of abortions due to their moral and ethical principles.

Today's column at Columbia Conservative Examiner hits this issue at the jugular, but it's darn well time somebody tells it like it is concerning infanticide, abortion, and the support of baby-killing on the part of the one who sits in the White House.

"'Hello,' He Lied"

This powerful essay is presented as a guest post by Rev. Kharma at Kharma Futures.

“Hello,” he lied.

It is a truism that politicians often play fast and loose with the truth. They answer questions vaguely, and dodge those they cannot tap dance around. However, the sheer scope of dishonesty exhibited by our current President is stunning. He seems to say almost the opposite of what he intends, and somehow he gets away with it. His huge, bloated debt package, designed to create the largest deficit in history is called a short term “Stimulus and job creation package’. Even the Congressional Budget Office warned before it was passed that the scope of debt created would shrink GDP within 5 years. He moaned that he had attempted to get bipartisan support, but was spurned by the opposition party, when in fact the bill was drafted entirely in secret, by the savagely partisan San Fran Nan, left wing Speaker of the House. The only cover they got was from routinely left wing RINO’s in the senate.

He gains support by pledging to give tax rebates to “95% of all Americans”. All the time he and his stooges are repeating this, he knows that fully 45% of Americans pay no taxes at all. What they are getting is, in fact, a handout, money transferred from those who work to pay their way and are the real support for the country.

In his address to the nation he characterises tax cuts this way:

“A surplus became an excuse to transfer wealth to the wealthy instead of an opportunity to invest in our future.”

Allowing those who have earned it to keep their own wages is not ‘transferring it to them”, it is simply forbearing the confiscation of their property. As for ‘investing in our future’ that is the new way to attempt to disguise government spending. When people like the Great and Powerful Obama, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid decide they know best how to spend money, they confiscate it and call it an investment. The largest deficit, combined with the highest government debt load in history seems pretty far away from what anyone would call an investment.

Now he has announced that he will withdraw all U.S. forces in Iraq by a “Date Certain” in August of 2010. Except he will not pull all troops out by then, and of course he might not do what he promises if the situation changes and he decides not to do what he said he will do. Set aside the honesty issue here. If I were an Iranian funded Shiite ‘freedom fighter’ seeking to impose my way on the rest of Iraq, (think Moqtada al-Sadr) I would now pull back. Maybe I’d open a food store, or sell flowers. Fill the back room with inventory, and as many weapons as I could hide. The Great and Powerful Obama says he has done what he can, and orders all combat forces out. Once the U.S. troops are gone, simply hand the guns and RPG’s to my Iranian trained militia, and start the destruction again. Then say since there are no Americans to oppose me, I am the new sheriff in town, and install a de facto Iranian allied regime.

President Obama says, in front of the cameras, the nice words his pollsters have determined the American people want to hear. He knows that those who will be receiving a gift from the taxpaying suckers will not care what he says. The dimwits who get their news from the Daily Show, and the Tonight Show will hear the feel good plattitudes and think he’s just a nice guy trying to help.

Those who pay the bills this administration is running up will hold on for as long as they can. But make no mistake, the bill WILL come due. And all of America will be on the hook to settle the tab. Unless people can recognize the danger his lying words are steering us into we will all face a backlash worse than anything this country has seen in generations.

As people begin to see the results of this “Change” imposed upon our nation by these increasingly deceptive people they will have few choices. The class envy which is the foundation of his economic platform may likely turn ugly. As those who carry more and more of the burden find that they are increasingly unable to provide for themselves and the rest of the confiscatory scheme, many will simply find ways to opt out. Business owners will find it necessary to shrink. This will entail more and more job cuts, not the job growth promised by the Great and Powerful Obama. Many who have entered the realm of what the government deems ” Wealthiest Americans” will find ways to scale back their earnings enough to escape the punitive taxes imposed on their income. Rather than generate higher treasury funds, we will see tax revenue decrease in real dollar terms. The resultant deficits will explode into even more unimaginable figures. The alternatives will be to eliminate the programs which got him in power, or shift more taxes onto more Americans. Either choice will result in anger from those who put him there. Will the resultant “Catastrophe” then engender ‘emergency powers’ of the administration? We will have to see. This administration has already shown an amazing disdain for the constitution when it is politically inconvenient. The U.S. census has been moved from control of the Commerce department to direct control by the White House. Congress has moved swiftly to provide a congressional representative with voting authority for DC, long a priority of the Democrat party, and a campaign pledge of Obama. Part of his economic agenda is the ‘Cramdown” legislation, which will grant authority to bankruptcy judges to unilaterally alter terms, principal and interest on valid mortgage contracts.

The provisions for the census are spelled out in US code, title 13, chapter 1. The administration cannot abrogate this. this is Unconstitutional.

Article 1, section 10 of the constitution prohibits any “law impairing the obligation of contracts”. Once again, this is unconstitutional.

The qualifications for membership in the House of Representatives states: a member of the house MUST be an inhabitant of that state in which he shall be chosen. Article 1, section 2.

The Federal District is established in article 1, section 8. this establishes a federally controlled district, which is specifically NOT a state. to provide, by statute for a voting representative in the House is, once again Unconstitutional.

For matters of power and political expediency this administration has shown, in a very short time, a remarkable willingness to ignore and jettison restrictions imposed by the Constitution. The level of mendacity is stunning, even by the standards of DC politics. The creation of, and political use for crisis and urgency should cause anyone paying attention to wonder just where it will stop. The first month under the guidance and administration of the Great and Powerful Obama has proved enlightening and frightening. I fear it will get worse!

A Sad Farewell To Paul Harvey

Paul Harvey, the 90-year-old radio and TV news pioneer whose voice was known to millions of Americans for over 50 years, has died.

I grew up listening to Mr. Harvey on the radio, and to this very day he remained one of my favorite news commentators. I was fortunate enough to hear him speak in person back in 1978 in Charlotte, North Carolina. His public speaking skills were just as sharp as his radio commentary, and 'the voice' was one of a kind.

In my mind not only was he a pioneer but he was one of the few conservative voices that made it to the big time on network radio and TV.

He will be sorely missed. For full details, click HERE.
