Rev. Kharma at Kharma Futures submits a guest post today on the Liberty Sphere. The frightening nature of this Administration just got even more frightening as Barack Obama calls for spying on and reporting citizens who oppose his government takeover of healthcare.
"Is the White House Compiling an Enemies List?"
by Rev. Kharma
Day after day, this administration seems to push things further and further. During the Bush years, we saw the adoption of the Patriot Act as a direct response to an attack on our country.
Many questioned, some quite loudly if the danger was sufficient to justify the curtailing of liberty which accompanied the new rules. While many objected, there was at least some rational purpose, an attempt to find and stop those who would attack us again.
The danger was, and is clear. In addition to the short term infringement of our freedom, the use and abuse of the Patriot Act powers by any future administration, with perhaps a less than pure motivation was always lurking.
Now we see that even more than just abusing existing statutes the Obama Administration is moving toward using ’snitches’ to gather information on those who ’spread misinformation on Obama’s health care plan’. Look here to see Byron York’s essay in the Washington Examiner. CBS says the following:
The White House in recent days has taken pro-active steps to combat the misinformation spreading about the president’s health care plans…
Senator John Cornyn of Texas has send a letter in which he puts it plainly and clearly:
“By requesting that citizens send “fishy” emails to the White House, it is inevitable that the names, email addresses, IP addresses, and private speech of U.S. citizens will be reported to the White House,” Cornyn wrote to Obama. “I can only imagine the level of justifiable outrage had your predecessor asked Americans to forward emails critical of his policies to the White House.”
The Dallas Morning News has more detail, including the entire letter from Senator Cornyn.
When all of the actions of this administration are put out for view, in the clear light of reason it is difficult to avoid reacting in fear. Recall his plan for Obama 2.0, to continue his own separate campaign organization. Recall the statements from his administration on the need for a separate ‘ civilian organization’ to equal the military. The press secretary calls those who are angry at their representatives at town hall meetings angry mobs.
This most recent request is just far too similar of tactics used by past administrations to collect information on ‘dissidents’ in National Socialist Germany, or Stalinist Russia, or Castroist Cuba. Use fear, use neighbors to rat out others, and you will rapidly silence opposition.
How long before this secret list is used by the Obama Justice department, or the IRS to target those who have opposed him.
We are in dangerous times folks. We all need to step up. If you are not afraid to have your name and e-mail added to the list, then why not try this. Send an e-mail to the following: ( I am following the lead I read here, it’s brilliant)
flag@whitehouse.gov
and ask that you be reported as opposed to Obama care. By the time I post this I’m willing to guess that I’m already on the list, but I’ll send a copy of this post just to be sure.
Don’t forget, send your polite, friendly and courteous message to Macon Phillips, the White House Director of New Media at this e-mail address

"Economics, Population, and Abortion"
Our guest blogger today is Rev. Kharma of Kharma Futures. This is a thought-provoking read that deserves your consideration.
Economics, Population, and Abortion
by Rev. Kharma
I have read many different articles over the last few years addressing economic trends. In the last year they have focused on the housing bubble and it’s relevance to our current economic crisis. Inflated housing prices spiraled out of control, and eventually collapsed which created a chain reaction throughout the economy of the US and the world. Often we are told that the economic problems we face will not settle out until the housing market rebounds. When we begin to buy houses again, at re-inflated prices the US economy will re-inflate and we will back at our old pace once more, spending money we don’t have.
This afternoon I opened my newest issue of First Things. It sat on my desk for several days, I have been apprehensive about reading it. The original editor and driving force, Fr. Richard Neuhaus died earlier this year. The journal has inspired and educated me for more than a decade since I read the first issue I encountered. His passing has made me wonder just who is capable of picking up the banner he so ably carried during his tenure.
In this issue there is an essay, dealing with economics and families. I have seen bits and pieces and hints about this, but Daniel Goldman had fleshed out and given life to the ideas as no one has ever done. He describes the theory that it is the distribution of young and old that has continued to refresh and renew our economy for generations. The young families have need of houses and all the accessories which would accompany that. The older members of our population have need of investment and growth of financial security. This has worked for generations, providing a continuous cycle of growth and expansion, opportunity and advantage for all concerned.
The demographics since the late 1960’s have begun to erode this model. Increasingly families are smaller, fewer children means fewer and smaller houses. As happens more and more often, there are single parent homes and homes with no children at all.
Make no mistake here, I am not, and never will criticize someone who has a small family, or even no children at all. Not everyone is cut out to raise a family.
The problem here is not the occasional small family or childless couple. The problem is a society that has devalued the family entirely. We have created a new ethos where having a family and raising children is not only removed from the primary role of a society, it is now frowned upon. Those who have a family are regarded as outlaws, and the green movement had demonized them. We are no longer sustaining our population. Societies are aging. We hear over and over that the US Social Security program will be bankrupt due to a lack of wage earners paying to support those receiving benefits. Virtually every Western nation is moving toward demographic extinction. In his article, Mr. Goldman displays a chart which shows the age of ‘Advanced Nations”. In 1965 the population aged older than 65 was approximately 10% of the general population. Those under age 4 made up about 8%. Projected for the year 2050, the trend shows a remarkable shift. Over aged 65 is projected to be more than 30%, while those under age 4 show less than 5%. Clearly this presents an unsustainable strain on the traditional economic cycle.
What is it that could account for this? Mr. Goldman’s article is not meant to address this.
However, as I read it a number kept presenting itself to my mind. I kept thinking of a number I have heard over and over. That number is in the range of 50 million.
That number is the estimated number of humans who would be current Americans had they not been aborted. Our culture of death has wiped out the hope of our generation.
All the economics lectures, and demographic analysis ever written cannot erase that fact. The Culture of Death that has enveloped our society has caused a devastating erosion to our ability to fund our own nation.
We can debate deficit spending, socialism, and capitalism, democrats and republicans in government, but we face a stark reality.
America is rapidly aging. We are aging as a nation because we have become essentially self-centered. The inconvenience of bearing and raising children has been alleviated by the simple answer of eliminating the children considered such a burden.
This is certainly one of a panoply of factors which include delaying marriage, reduced size of families, and many other fractured and altered family structures. However the fact remains, that had fifty million children not been murdered before they were born, we would be facing an entirely different demographic today. Perhaps individual wealth would not have grown so fast. Individual self fulfillment might not be such a sought after goal. We surely would not have a society which faces extinction simply because we are growing older and are not able to fund our expansion. One may debate the morality of the issue, and many do. The straight economics are simply numbers. We are dying, and we are not replacing our dying members. There are many ways to look at it, but there is simply no way to see it differently. We are paying the price of convenience. We are paying now for the elimination of a generation which we never permitted to exist.
The culture of death has created a wound in our society and the infection continues to weaken us. Combined with the unlimited demand for government payment for individual needs we are facing a bankrupt nation. America, we are paying for our choices, no matter if we decide to face it or ignore it.
We can look at so many of the dangers we face as a society and point back to the devaluation of live embodied by the abortion culture. The devaluation of life spreads and creates an ethos of total selfishness which infests and debases every aspect of our world today. The total self absorption, the movement toward the importance of the self and the instant gratification which has been exalted as the pinnacle of achievement all flow logically from the mindset which decides that one individuals life is more important than any other consideration. We are no longer looking toward self reliance, but rather to self preservation.
The nation which was formed with a minimal government to protect basic rights is now a nation which wants a strong government to provide everything at the expense of others. Instead of a generation willing to go to war to save the world, we have a generation which seems to want to beg the world to save them. Instead of raising children and providing for the future, we want to have the government raise and provide for us.
We have taken the dream of the founders and turned it on its ear. We have perverted the original republic and corrupted it to a democracy which feeds off its children instead of protecting them.
That cliff is getting closer and closer and the nation is sliding faster and faster into the abyss.

"'Hello,' He Lied"
This powerful essay is presented as a guest post by Rev. Kharma at Kharma Futures.
“Hello,” he lied.
Posted by revkharma on February 28, 2009
It is a truism that politicians often play fast and loose with the truth. They answer questions vaguely, and dodge those they cannot tap dance around. However, the sheer scope of dishonesty exhibited by our current President is stunning. He seems to say almost the opposite of what he intends, and somehow he gets away with it. His huge, bloated debt package, designed to create the largest deficit in history is called a short term “Stimulus and job creation package’. Even the Congressional Budget Office warned before it was passed that the scope of debt created would shrink GDP within 5 years. He moaned that he had attempted to get bipartisan support, but was spurned by the opposition party, when in fact the bill was drafted entirely in secret, by the savagely partisan San Fran Nan, left wing Speaker of the House. The only cover they got was from routinely left wing RINO’s in the senate.
He gains support by pledging to give tax rebates to “95% of all Americans”. All the time he and his stooges are repeating this, he knows that fully 45% of Americans pay no taxes at all. What they are getting is, in fact, a handout, money transferred from those who work to pay their way and are the real support for the country.
In his address to the nation he characterises tax cuts this way:
“A surplus became an excuse to transfer wealth to the wealthy instead of an opportunity to invest in our future.”
Allowing those who have earned it to keep their own wages is not ‘transferring it to them”, it is simply forbearing the confiscation of their property. As for ‘investing in our future’ that is the new way to attempt to disguise government spending. When people like the Great and Powerful Obama, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid decide they know best how to spend money, they confiscate it and call it an investment. The largest deficit, combined with the highest government debt load in history seems pretty far away from what anyone would call an investment.
Now he has announced that he will withdraw all U.S. forces in Iraq by a “Date Certain” in August of 2010. Except he will not pull all troops out by then, and of course he might not do what he promises if the situation changes and he decides not to do what he said he will do. Set aside the honesty issue here. If I were an Iranian funded Shiite ‘freedom fighter’ seeking to impose my way on the rest of Iraq, (think Moqtada al-Sadr) I would now pull back. Maybe I’d open a food store, or sell flowers. Fill the back room with inventory, and as many weapons as I could hide. The Great and Powerful Obama says he has done what he can, and orders all combat forces out. Once the U.S. troops are gone, simply hand the guns and RPG’s to my Iranian trained militia, and start the destruction again. Then say since there are no Americans to oppose me, I am the new sheriff in town, and install a de facto Iranian allied regime.
President Obama says, in front of the cameras, the nice words his pollsters have determined the American people want to hear. He knows that those who will be receiving a gift from the taxpaying suckers will not care what he says. The dimwits who get their news from the Daily Show, and the Tonight Show will hear the feel good plattitudes and think he’s just a nice guy trying to help.
Those who pay the bills this administration is running up will hold on for as long as they can. But make no mistake, the bill WILL come due. And all of America will be on the hook to settle the tab. Unless people can recognize the danger his lying words are steering us into we will all face a backlash worse than anything this country has seen in generations.
As people begin to see the results of this “Change” imposed upon our nation by these increasingly deceptive people they will have few choices. The class envy which is the foundation of his economic platform may likely turn ugly. As those who carry more and more of the burden find that they are increasingly unable to provide for themselves and the rest of the confiscatory scheme, many will simply find ways to opt out. Business owners will find it necessary to shrink. This will entail more and more job cuts, not the job growth promised by the Great and Powerful Obama. Many who have entered the realm of what the government deems ” Wealthiest Americans” will find ways to scale back their earnings enough to escape the punitive taxes imposed on their income. Rather than generate higher treasury funds, we will see tax revenue decrease in real dollar terms. The resultant deficits will explode into even more unimaginable figures. The alternatives will be to eliminate the programs which got him in power, or shift more taxes onto more Americans. Either choice will result in anger from those who put him there. Will the resultant “Catastrophe” then engender ‘emergency powers’ of the administration? We will have to see. This administration has already shown an amazing disdain for the constitution when it is politically inconvenient. The U.S. census has been moved from control of the Commerce department to direct control by the White House. Congress has moved swiftly to provide a congressional representative with voting authority for DC, long a priority of the Democrat party, and a campaign pledge of Obama. Part of his economic agenda is the ‘Cramdown” legislation, which will grant authority to bankruptcy judges to unilaterally alter terms, principal and interest on valid mortgage contracts.
The provisions for the census are spelled out in US code, title 13, chapter 1. The administration cannot abrogate this. this is Unconstitutional.
Article 1, section 10 of the constitution prohibits any “law impairing the obligation of contracts”. Once again, this is unconstitutional.
The qualifications for membership in the House of Representatives states: a member of the house MUST be an inhabitant of that state in which he shall be chosen. Article 1, section 2.
The Federal District is established in article 1, section 8. this establishes a federally controlled district, which is specifically NOT a state. to provide, by statute for a voting representative in the House is, once again Unconstitutional.
For matters of power and political expediency this administration has shown, in a very short time, a remarkable willingness to ignore and jettison restrictions imposed by the Constitution. The level of mendacity is stunning, even by the standards of DC politics. The creation of, and political use for crisis and urgency should cause anyone paying attention to wonder just where it will stop. The first month under the guidance and administration of the Great and Powerful Obama has proved enlightening and frightening. I fear it will get worse!

'Lie Down with Dogs, Get Up with Fleas'
I have a guest blogger today who does a great job over at Kharma Futures. Here, Rev. Kharma examines the nature of the corrupt Chicago Political Machine and its tendency to infect everyone who touches it.
Lie Down with Dogs, Get Up with Fleas
Posted by revkharma on February 19, 2009
Let’s take a quick walk around the cesspool known as Chicago Style Politics. We don’t even need to go to the roots of the Daley machine. To get a feel of how things can become totally corrupted, we can look at just a couple of offices in the Illinois congressional delegation. Remember Dan Rostenkowski. a loud, pushy congressman from Illinois who was eventually indicted and convicted for fraud in relation to the House Post Office corruption scam. After he went to jail (incidentally keeping his deluxe House of Representatives pension) his seat was filled by a place holder then was filled by none other than Rod Blagojevich. Rod went back to the Land of Lincoln, where he tried to sell the US senate seat vacated by the Great and Powerful Obama. He eventually appointed Roland Burris. Now Burris is being investigated for perjury, as it appears he was less than candid when testifying before Blago’s impeachment committee. He somehow forgot that he had several conversations with the Gov’s brother about rounding up some cash for ‘campaign funds’. Seems his memory was refreshed when it looks as if the FBI has tapes of the conversations.
Loop back again.. Blagojevic was succeeded by Rahm Emanuel. He of the ‘ take advantage of a crisis’ fame. A fierce fighter, he is reputed to be a vicious bully witha long memory and longer reach for revenge.
Blago has long standing ties to Tony Rezko, A felon convicted on corruption charges. Rezko bundled millions of dollars of contributions for Blagojevich, and many of his associates later found jobs in state government. Rezko also has long standing ties to The Great and Powerful Obama. There has still never been any in depth look at the connection, but one look at the real estate deal that resulted to Obama owning the lot adjacent to Rezko will show just how easily corruption can be swept under the rug.
So, let’s look here, Rostenkowski, Burris, Blagojevich, Emanuel, Obama. All these dogs seem to lie in the same pen, and my guess is that all of them share the same fleas. I just want to know why no one seems willing to do something about the fleas jumping all about the Great and Powerful Obama.
He has surrounded himself for years with many corrupt people. One look at the fiasco that is his cabinet will clue anyone in. How many people either stepped down or withdrew nominations because of corrupt practices? Even his Treasury Secretary admitted to non payment of his taxes, but the Great O managed to slip him in anyway. Just how long will his dishonesty and outright corruption go unremarked in the media?
