The Death of Journalism in America

Journalism as we once knew it in America is dead. Alternative sources of news have been forced to fill the void left by a mainstream media that has abdicated its responsibility to keep the public informed on ALL of the news accurately and fairly.

This is my subject today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

I would deeply appreciate your giving it a read and passing it along.

Follow-Up to 'Don't Tread on Me' Controversy

It seems that the veracity of the story about the man in Louisiana who was detained by law enforcement due to his bumper-sticker that says 'Don't Tread on Me' is in dispute.

As a follow-up I noticed that World Net Daily has a major, exclusive story on this matter.

The WND reporter contacted the persons involved in Ball, Louisiana, and spoke directly with the person detained by police and his sister-in-law. Their names are being withheld by WND.

Contrary to the opinion of some, I have not found WND to be untrustworthy. I do admit they publish stories that sometimes can be hard to verify due to the extreme sensitive nature of their content...and the fact that you won't find these types of stories reported by anyone else.

And this is why I see their value.

On the other hand, Texas Fred is a blogger that I trust. He says that the story is not true.

Here is Fred's reasoning:

Knowing the cops in that part of the country, the ONLY thing they would have said about that flag is, 'Hey man, where can I get one of those??'

Unless, and on this I am only speculating, unless this happened to be a Dem and/or a Black officer, and then, yeah, this could be real...

Those guys in that part of Louisiana are still flying the Stars and Bars and have *Be a MAN, Join the Klan* stickers on the back of the pickup!!

Something about this story stinks man, not your part, you're reporting from the source, I am going on experience, and the fact that I am from Louisiana, it's my home, and the fact that our entire family, both sides, mine and the wife, are cops, past, present and retired, and the Louisiana branch have ALL called BS on this one...

Just sayin'...

I have absolutely no reason to doubt or question Fred's integrity as he has been a stellar example of honesty in the time I have known him.

But I do believe there is more to this story than what meets the eye. It may not have been Ball police officers that pulled him over. It could have been any number of law enforcement agencies--county, state, etc.

I am also certain that they would not pull him over for merely displaying the bumper sticker, although that may have been an unspoken, underlying reason for doing so. They are not going to subject themselves to legal and disciplinary action, but cops use all sorts of legitimate excuses to pull over drivers, when their ulterior motive is something different.

We also must not forget that the Obama administration sent out a memo to all law enforcement agencies in the country alerting them to the now-infamous 'potential homegrown terrorist' allegation directed at patriotic Americans.

One thing is for certain, if the story turns out to be false, I WILL retract it. Until we get clear proof, stay tuned...

I Just Had to Do It...

The Pam Geller story concerning the Louisiana man who was detained by law enforcement for doing nothing more than displaying a 'Don't Tread on Me' bumper sticker is so explosive and disturbing that I had to put it up on the Examiner.

Do me a big favor by clicking on the link and reading...and sharing. I want this story to be shouted far and wide.

Tam has a message to the scumbag sack of chit that proposed legislation to jail 'hostile bloggers.' And I agree with Tam's sentiments...

Traction Control notes that Obama is touting his mega-budget increase as a 'cut.' More doublespeak, newspeak, etc, etc. from 'the Chairman.'

Those of us who have followed ultra-liberal John Conyers knew this was coming sooner or later. Michelle Malkin reports that Conyers has chickened out of the Congressional probe of ACORN that he promised. Surprise, surprise.

Obama: No More Funds for Jailing Illegal Aliens

Obama's new budget for 2010 includes no funds for states that jail illegal aliens. This is according to a report filed by The Hill.

Given the blatant disregard for the law exhibited by the federal government on the issue, states have often taken it upon themselves to enforce immigration laws within their own jurisdictions.

From the report:

Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies, a group that has called for tougher border security, predicted it is "very unlikely" that Obama's proposal to cut the program will be accepted by Congress. He noted that the Bush administration repeatedly tried to zero out the program, but always ran into opposition in Congress.

"It's hard to justify getting rid of it honestly," Krikorian said. "It's a necessary program because the federal government is reimbursing states and localities for the federal government's own mistakes."

The discontinuation of funding for the program is going to be a hard-sell in Congress due to the fact that Congressional liberals want to add provisions within the funding that provide for healthcare and education to illegals.

Report: 'Nan' Knew About the Waterboarding!

Despite her claims to the contrary, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was fully briefed on the waterboarding techniques used to gain information from terrorists.

The report concerning this briefing in September of 2002 was released on Thursday.

Read all about in my column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Report: 'Odd Events' Hinder Specter's Chances

A series of odd incidents that have proceeded from Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter's party switch last week have raised questions about whether the newest Democrat has permanently damaged himself in the eyes of the state's voters.

The White House is concerned enough about the developments that deputy chief of staff Jim Messina and Ron Klain, a senior adviser to Vice President Biden, traveled to Capitol Hill on Wednesday and huddled with Specter to try to iron out the problems, according to informed Democratic officials.

Apparently, 'Snarlin' Arlen's mouth has already gotten him into trouble with Democratic voters in Pennsylvania and with Democratic Party elites, who wish he would be more 'like a Democrat.'

Translation: they want him to tow the Party line rather than continue with the independent streak he had as a Republican.

Click here to read the entire story at WaPo concerning Specter's rather odd statements.

Silencing Voices Like Glenn Beck's

Glenn Beck at Fox News is convinced that the Obama administration, Congressional Democrats, and others on the Left are engaged in a concerted effort to silence his and other conservative voices.

And he has good reason to think so.

The group that has seized total power in America today has made it clear from the beginning that they want to curb the influence of conservative talk radio, Fox News, liberty-oriented bloggers, and anyone else that dares question or criticize their oppressive plans.

According to Newsbusters, Beck stated on his late-afternoon Fox News program that government is raging out of control. From the article:

Beck encouraged his viewers to use word-of-mouth to rein the government back in and implored viewers not to pick based on party affiliation.

"And after we provide it to you, it is up to you to use your voice," Beck said. "They can move mountains. Tell your friends, spread the word - because despite the talk of all the change that we have heard over the past couple of years from both parties, that is the last thing they actually want to do."

Beck, never one to pull any punches when it comes to these sort of pleas, warned the consequences of not speaking out would not allow for a change of course and eventually could lead to the "silencing" of himself, "The O'Reilly Factor" host Bill O'Reilly and conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

"The status quo is what gives them their status. It is what brings them to power and self-importance," Beck said. "Use your voice while you still have it. I tell you, with everything in me, I think they are going to silence voices like mine and Bill O'Reilly and Rush [Limbaugh] and everybody else - they will silence us. They can't let us continue to speak out. When the government is trying to influence what kind of syrup a restaurant uses, do you really think they're going to have a problem regulating opinion? Please."

One of the things that sent Beck into this urgent warning is a plan by Obama to offer free tuition, provided by the federal government, to college students if they agree after they graduate to 'engage in service to the government.'

Bribe--brainwash--enslave.

"The Days of Wine and Rugers"

I have never made any bones about the fact that I admire the writing of Brigid at Home on the Range. She deftly weaves together intriguing descriptions of 2 of her favorite pastimes--guns and cooking.

Such is the case with "The Days of Wine and Rugers," with the exception that this article focuses on wine and guns rather than cooking and guns.

Here is an excerpt to whet your appetite:

No, don't drink and shoot, just something that came to mind as I finished a little painting.

It got me thinking. People spend large amounts of money on good wine. I have too, yet sometimes with a hearty meal, a simple glass of inexpensive red wine will do. Such it can be with a gun budget. I keep a watch on my spending (hey I'm mostly Scot) and I found I was spending a LOT on 45 ammo. Sure I love my 45's. There's absolutely nothing like it and the .45 is ALL I will have close to my side for home defense and my concealed is larger caliber as well. But the thought of having a little .22 to plink with, so I could shoot more, was intriguing. An inexpensive but well-built little .22 would be even better. So after trying out someone's Ruger Mark II, I bought a Ruger Mark III in a nice blued finish at the local non big chain gun store when it was there for a VERY good price.

Be sure to read the whole thing at the link provided at the top of this post.

As if a quarter of a trillion were not enough, at least 4 of the nation's largest banks claim they need multi-billions more in taxpayer bailout funds.

And what should we say to these bumbling, befuddled, bottomless pits of financial buffoonery?

That, my friend, is discussed in my column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Give it a read and tell a friend. Thanks!

Tam makes a very important point about the myth of 'corporate taxes' in light of Obama's attempt to reign in offshore investments.

Notoriously Conservative has the MUST-read of the day as he reports on a bill introduced in Congress that is a direct attack on free speech. The bill will make it a felony for BLOGGERS to use their blogs to 'engage in hostile speech.' Here's some hostile speech for the worthless piece of chit who sponsored this bill--'EFF YOU!'

This explosive and unconscionable development is discussed in my column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Don't let this one get past you. This is a highly dangerous development that signals the U.S. is now siding with the terrorists unless Israel 'does what it is told.'

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

JR has a most interesting read on the dumbing down of the public educational system.

Walls of the City presented an article on terrorism and the Napolitano Department of Homeland Security that pre-dates my article at Columbia Conservative Examiner today. I just saw his piece today, and I highly recommend it, because it confirms many of the points I made in that article. While we are having our attention diverted, the REAL danger to America is going unnoticed, including an outright attack on the rights of citizens.

Mike McCarville points to a perfect example of what Walls of the City is talking about--an Obama nominee to the DOJ who wants UN gun control. The spineless vermin are afraid to face the public with this chit, so they 'treaty-away' our rights by signing agreements with the UN. VERMIN!

Western Rifle Shooters Association follows up with this report of even more madness coming out of the Department of Homeland Security.

Alphecca reports that Texas is set to test it's sovereignty with gun rights.

Standing By reports that a TSA agent stole a gun from the luggage of a police officer.

Mike Vanderboegh posts the personal, riveting, and moving story of his move from being a Communist to an ardent supporter and defender of our Constitutional Republic. From Insight on Freedom: 'WANTED: One Female, Minority, Socialist Supreme Court Nominee.'

ALERT! Muslim Terrorist Training Camps in U.S.

While Barack Obama, Janet Napolitano, and the Department of Homeland Security engage in the despicable diversionary tactic of focusing on a few good ole boys with guns, the real terrorists--the head-choppers--are setting up training camps all across America.

Read about this stunning report in my new column today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Citizens who are concerned about REAL threats rather than trumped-up, baseless allegations by Homeland Security, should read this article.

Thanks!

When Words Intentionally Deceive

Words are powerful, and they can be powerfully deceptive when one attaches new definitions to old terms without informing anyone of the change.

This is one of the 'changes' Obama has brought to Washington, and this is my subject today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

The public thought they were getting something familiar when Obama used, and continues to use, words and phrases that have a commonly-accepted meaning. But Obama and company employ new definitions to old terms, thus deceiving the public.

Be sure to read my new column for all of the details. Thanks.
