REPORT: IRANIAN NUKES WOULD CRIPPLE U.S.
Politeia cites a special report at NewsMax that assesses Iran's developing nuclear capability. The news is not good.
According to the report, Iran possess the ability launch a nuclear attack on the United States, not from mainland to mainland but from various strategic points on the land and sea to space.
If, for example, Iran launched a crude nuclear missile from a ship and then detonated it in space once it reached a certain altitude, the electro-magnetic pulse from the explosion would immediately cripple communications, transportation, power, food, water, and other infrastructure in the U.S.--without the bomb ever hitting the ground.
Thus, even without any immediate loss of life, such an attack would render the U.S. an impotent giant. The economic and logistical impact alone would be catastrophic.
The authors of the NewsMax report believe that Iran is currently capable of launching such an attack and have already conducted missile tests to assess the plan's feasibility.

Valerie Plame Back in the News
Valerie Plame, the CIA operative who claims she was 'outed' by Bush Administration officials in retaliation against her husband, Joe Wilson, is back in the news. This time she claims her 'covert' work involved gathering information on Iran's nuclear program.
Immediately both the mainstream media and the Left are placed in a precarious situation by the claim.
Supposedly Iran had no such program. Conventional wisdom, as relayed by the mouthpieces of the mainstream media, always cast doubt on the suggestion that Iran was working on a nuclear weapons program.
One can safely assume that the reason for such well-placed doubt was the suspicion that Bush Administration officials were using such claims as justification for attacking Iran. Thus, any slight hint that Iran either had nukes or was intending to develop such weapons had to be dismissed.
For example, as recently as June, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claimed that Iran was absolutely no threat to the U.S. or the world, and that there was no credible evidence that Al Qaeda or any other terrorist group in Iran was sending insurgents into Iraq.
And this leads us to the following question. Where did the materials for Iran's nuclear program come from?
We know that loosely connected terrorist organizations and rogue nations have a vested interest in Iranian nukes.
The bottom line is that if what Plame is saying is true, then the preconceived notions concerning Iran on the part of the mainstream media and the Left have been totally wrong.
The other alternative is the possibility that Plame is making the whole thing up. While this alternative is highly unlikely, such a possibility raises the stakes in the charges made against Scooter Libby. If Plame is no more trustworthy a witness than to fabricate or exaggerate her work with the CIA, then how can she be believed when giving testimony concerning her supposed 'outing' by the Bush Administration?
Her credibility at that point goes out the window.
Yet we already know there is at least some credibility to Plame's claims. We know that Iran has been developing nuclear weapons, and we have a good idea who is helping them do it. But we knew this anyway, without any information provided by Plame.
The problem is we cannot know for sure if Plame is being totally candid concerning the role she played, if any, in the Iranian nuke intelligence gathering process. But we do know enough to totally debunk the Left's contention that Iran is no serious threat.

The French Connection and Iran's Nukes
Underscoring the danger of nukes in the hands of Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, French President Nicolas Sarkozy told the United Nations on Tuesday that nuclear power in the hands of Iran would bring the world to the brink of war.
Sarkozy wasted no time in heading for the jugular in his assessment of the threat posed by nukes in the hands of a state sponsor of terror that has expressed the desire for Israel's demise.
In stark contrast to the policies and rhetoric employed by the French under the leadership of Jacques Chirac, the Sarkozy government appears to take much more of a realistic approach to the Middle East powder-keg.
Ahmadinejad's saber-rattling has become a staple of his Presidency, and Sarkozy takes it seriously. Nukes in the hands of the Iranians not only would be a threat to Israel but to much of Europe as well.
Apparently the U.S. is in full agreement with Sarkozy's assessment. Sources close to the Pentagon state that the U.S. has been secretly drawing up plans for targeted air strikes against Iranian facilities suspected of building the bombs.
These strikes would not be an all-out invasion, nor would any ground troops be necessary to accomplish the mission of destroying Iran's ability to develop nuclear power. In addition, such strikes would send Iran a signal that the U.S. intends to address Iran's threat to the surge in Iraq.
By destroying Iran's nuclear power-plants and key military-industrial facilities, along with cutting off the supply lines of insurgents flowing from Iran to Iraq, the U.S. would make it clear that it intends to cripple and dismantle one of its key roadblocks to success in the Iraqi campaign.
The present climate in French politics provides a golden opportunity for the Bush Administration to repair the strained relations between the two countries as a result of decades of an adversarial Jacques Chirac.
Not only can the U.S. repair its relations with the French and reclaim France as a key ally, but the two nations can conduct a joint operation to address the Iranian threat. A successful venture in this regard could bring a return to the U.S.-French connection on the world stage.

LIBERTY ALERT! SHOWDOWN IN THE GULF
Washington, DC (TLS). Tensions are high in the Persian Gulf this evening as U.S. and British forces reinforce their presence in the region in light of the kidnapping of British soldiers by the Iranian military. The British soldiers were taken in Iraqi waters just off the coast of Kuwait.
The situation has grown so tense that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad cancelled a much-publicized trip to New York to speak before the U.N. General Assembly on Saturday prior to a vote on a resolution further condemning Iran's nuclear program.
Observers are puzzled, however, that at such a critical moment in Iran's attempt to avoid further recriminations from the United Nations it would perpetrate such a blatant act of hostility.
The bottom line is that Iran is a rogue state seeking to develop nuclear bombs. Its President has made it clear he would not hesitate to use those bombs against Israel, Europe, and the United States. He has also made it perfectly clear that he wishes to annihilate the nation of Israel entirely, wiping it from the map.
Unless the British navy-men are released unharmed, then the U.S. and Britain must take immediate military action to stop the spreading scourge of radical, Iranian Islam. This can only be accomplished by military strikes from the air and sea, aimed at nuclear facilities and Iran's houses of government in Teheran.

Webb Seeks To Tie Bush's Hands on Iran
Washington, DC (TLS). Senator Jim Webb, D-Virginia, has introduced a bill in the Senate that would tie the President's hands in dealing with Iranian terrorism and its attacks against our troops in Iraq. The freshman Democrat from Virginia introduced legislation that requires the President to 'seek authorization before using force against Iran.'
Webb stated, 'This presidency has shot from the hip too many times for us to be able to trust it to act on its own. We need Congress to be involved in any decision to commence military activities absent from an attack from the other side or a direct threat.' Further, Webb maintains, 'this bill denies funding that would be necessary to begin such operations against Iran in the first place.'
It is no secret that Webb carries a deep-seated, near-pathological disdain for George W. Bush, refusing to shake his hand at the White House reception for incoming Congressmen and Senators. Despite the President reaching out to the toddler who obviously needed a diaper-change, Webb gave an abrupt retort to the President when Mr. Bush asked about Webb's son.
Yet Webb has the unmitigated gall to claim the President 'shoots from the hip.'
Obviously Mr. Webb is too dumb to know we now have confirmation that Iran is sponsoring the terrorist attacks on our troops and on Iraqis inside Iraq. And apparently the Senator from Virginia is too ignorant to realize that Iran is one of the biggest threats in the world to the security of Israel, Europe, and the United States. Further, the cry-baby tantrum-throwing Junior Senator from Virginia is woefully uninformed about the grave danger a nuclear Iran would pose to the entire world.
Or maybe he knows all of these things but simply doesn't care.
It is no secret that Webb lied to the public to get elected. Portraying himself as one of the so-called 'blue dog Democrats' who are conservative and would stand against the ultra-Liberalism of Nancy Pelosi. these 'blue dogs' proceeded to be a part of a Democrat majority that has proposed some of the most tyrannical legislation in the history of the Republic. They have marched in lockstep with Pelosi, Kennedy, Kerry, Dodd, Reid, Conyers, and Hillary.
So much for the 'blue dog conservatives.' Not a single Democrat in either chamber of Congress has stood valiantly for freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to keep and bear arms, or any other basic liberty the Constitution protects.
As far as we can tell, the blue dog Democrats are just as rotten to the core as the rest of the lot.
They are a part of the Democrat gang of thugs that has tried to unleash a massive assault on individual liberty, even to the point of making it a hate crime to even speak against homosexuality.
As far as I'm concerned, this was absolutely the last straw. This gang of thugs has got to go. And when we finally grab them by the seat of the pants and the nape of the neck and toss them out the door in 2008, we need to make sure their lying 'blue dogs' are thrown out with them.
I have very little tolerance for the forces of anti-freedom. And this bunch has pushed my last button.

The President doesn't need approval from Congress to go after Iran. They attacked us first, and they have persisted in attacking us. Webb simply needs to go get his pacifier and shut up. He should leave the security of the nation and the free world to the grown ups.

TOO LATE TO STOP IRAN'S NUKES
Washington, DC (TLS). According to a report issued by the European Union, it is already too late to stop Iran's development of nuclear weapons.
In a shocking admission of diplomatic failure, the report states that attempts to engage Iran in talks concerning its nuclear weapons program have not been successful, and at this stage in the process, there is nothing that can be done from a diplomatic standpoint to stop them from building nuclear bombs.
The report, published in the Financial Times of London, states that the dire situation will most surely be used as proof that nothing less than a military strike against Iran can thwart their headstrong march into becoming one of the world's nuclear powers. The day when Iran will have the bombs is drawing very near, and the only thing that has stopped them thus far has been delays caused by technical limitations.
The Liberty Sphere has twice called upon President Bush to launch a major military offensive against Iran in order to prevent the extremist Muslim stronghold from building nuclear weapons. This report given to the EU is ample proof that no amount of diplomatic pressure or consultation will stop the Iranians from following through with their plans to develop missiles that can carry nuclear warheads. When they get this capability, not only will Israel be in mortal danger but the entirety of the European continent as well.
The nations of Europe are already expressing dismay over the looming prospects for a nuclear Iran. Sensing the danger that is ahead, the European community has sought various means to engage Iran in diplomatic consultation. The fact that these overtures have failed gives ample warning to the entire world that only a military solution will suffice, and that any delay in implementing this military solution will bring the world one step closer to a nuclear holocaust.
No matter what the Democrats in Congress say, it is time for President Bush to act to take out Iran's nuclear plants. And while we are engaged in this exercise, we must also take out the top levels of government in Tehran. While Congress is twiddling their thumbs, engaging in denial, and sticking their heads so deep into the sand that they go straight through to China, the world is getting close to a nuclear doomsday. Stupidity and timidity in the face of such a sobering threat cannot be tolerated. The President is Commander in Chief. It is time to take out Iran's nuclear capabilities and disable its government. This can be done in a clean, short-term operation that does not require a declaration of war.
After all, President Clinton did the very same thing in Bosnia and on a limited basis in Iraq during the 90s...all without U.N. approval. Only Democrat hypocrisy would lead to their condemnation of President Bush if he did the same thing.
