REPORT: IRANIAN NUKES WOULD CRIPPLE U.S.

Politeia cites a special report at NewsMax that assesses Iran's developing nuclear capability. The news is not good.

According to the report, Iran possess the ability launch a nuclear attack on the United States, not from mainland to mainland but from various strategic points on the land and sea to space.

If, for example, Iran launched a crude nuclear missile from a ship and then detonated it in space once it reached a certain altitude, the electro-magnetic pulse from the explosion would immediately cripple communications, transportation, power, food, water, and other infrastructure in the U.S.--without the bomb ever hitting the ground.

Thus, even without any immediate loss of life, such an attack would render the U.S. an impotent giant. The economic and logistical impact alone would be catastrophic.

The authors of the NewsMax report believe that Iran is currently capable of launching such an attack and have already conducted missile tests to assess the plan's feasibility.

I think a lot of the focus is being put to Iran as a "scapeoat" for military action. Could not China, Pakistan or a laundry list of former Soviet block countries do the same? We live in a Nuclear Age and have sin WW2. There are "treats" surronding us as we wake each morning and it should not be "national policy" to try and confront them all. The only reason Iran has today is because we interfered in the 80's, the only reason China has what they have today is becuse of what we gave them in the 90's. These are "Unintended Consequences" of an interventive foreign policy. Here in the first decade of the 21st century we are doing it again in Iraq, and planning on visiting Iran again in the second, albeit not as covert as the first time.

At issue, though, is Iran's publicly-stated goal of annihilating Israel and the U.S. None of the other countries you mentioned have done that.

First, protection of Israel should NOT be an American duty
China Threatens Nuclear Strike on US http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/16/politics/16diplo.html
Pakiststan has an unstable power structure and Nuclear capabilities
http://www.howardbloom.net/Wakeup_or_Shutdown2.htm and a large portion of the Soveit Block has no love lost with the US over decades, some of it in direct reaction to Iran and our "covert" activites there. Not trying to be pissy just making the argument that while news reports focus on Iran, they are not the only "perceived threat", nor are a as large of a threat as portrayed. Preemtive war is NEVER the policy of a free nation.

In today's world we can no longer afford to wait until rogue nations such as Iran can hold the entire free world hostage. Thus, preemptive strikes are necessary.

But I'll grant you one thing--Israel can take care of itself. They have shown time and again that when they are cut loose to defend themselves, they are more than capable of doing the job thoroughly...when they are not being hammered by the U.N. and liberals in the U.S. and the EU.
