Second Amendment News Roundup for 5/8/09

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

Pamela Geller reports the explosive story of a man who has been detained for displaying his 'Don't Tread on Me' bumper sticker. Friends, war has been declared by our government against patriotic citizens!

From Codrea's Gun Rights Examiner: 'Love Your Children? Teach Them How to Handle Guns Safely.'

Meeting on the Green posts a MUST-read from the Canadian Free Press entitled, 'The President Who Hates His Country.'

Standing By has an update on the detention of a 16-year old, supposedly under the terms of the Patriot Act. It seems this is in dispute.

Kurt Hofmann notes that with Carolyn McCarthy's new push to ban 'assault rifles,' the looming question is what will Senator Kirsten Gillibrand do?

Rev. Kharma provides a good read on the corrupting power of incumbency.

Pax Parabellum opines on 'Specter as a Democrat.'

Western Rifle Shooters Association posts a major announcement concerning the Oath Keepers' gathering at the National Mall in Washington, DC, entitled, 'Shout Our Oaths in the Tyrant's Face.' Read it all.

Conservative Libertarian Outpost blogs on the utter incompetence of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar. Is there an Obama appointee that ISN'T incompetent!?

Texas Fred has a great read today entitled, 'Faint Heart Ne'er Won Fair Lady.' Take a look!

Nicki shares 'the self-defense story of the week.'

Say Uncle asks the question of the day. My answer is 'yes.' What's yours?

The Wandering Minstrel has a good one today entitled, 'The Ultimate Gun Permit.'

2A Musing provides a report from the firing range.

Roberta X says that the progressive idiots are horrified over the exposing of the obvious.

Armed Citizen posts a great article today written by Newt Gingrich on 'Obama Winners and Losers.' Say what you will about Gingrich (he is a mixture of positive and negative qualities), he is nonetheless one of the most intelligent and articulate thinkers in America today.

Tam has a message to the scumbag sack of chit that proposed legislation to jail 'hostile bloggers.' And I agree with Tam's sentiments...

Traction Control notes that Obama is touting his mega-budget increase as a 'cut.' More doublespeak, newspeak, etc, etc. from 'the Chairman.'

Those of us who have followed ultra-liberal John Conyers knew this was coming sooner or later. Michelle Malkin reports that Conyers has chickened out of the Congressional probe of ACORN that he promised. Surprise, surprise.

Open Carry reminds us that its fundraiser is underway. Click, take a look, and consider donating to this organization that promotes openly practicing our 2nd Amendment rights.

The Rustmeister commemorates VE day with this neat pic and graphic...'scissors beat paper.'

And now, for your Friday afternoon reading pleasure, An Ol' Broad's Ramblings presents the best political cartoons on the Internet.

Ok, I took a look at Texas Fred's. I have before, and generally I am in agreement with him. Unfortunately, I also took a look at his Comments/Register page. I had actually wanted to comment. But after reading his comment policy I decided he could kiss my ass. I care not for cowards who talk a good gunfight but hide when it happens.

I have banned him.

I grant that he tells you upfront he is a fraud. That's in his favor, but it doesn't get him accepted.
