A Scandal That Puts Watergate to Shame

If you think the Watergate Scandal that brought down the Nixon Administration in 1974 was bad enough, just wait until you see THIS:

'Dumbest Generation Getting Dumber'

The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is an international comparison of 15-year-olds conducted by The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) that measures applied learning and problem-solving ability. In 2006, U.S. students ranked 25th of 30 advanced nations in math and 24th in science. McKinsey & Company, in releasing its report "The Economic Impact of the Achievement Gap in America's Schools" (April 2009) said, "Several other facts paint a worrisome picture. First, the longer American children are in school, the worse they perform compared to their international peers. In recent cross-country comparisons of fourth grade reading, math, and science, US students scored in the top quarter or top half of advanced nations. By age 15 these rankings drop to the bottom half. In other words, American students are farthest behind just as they are about to enter higher education or the workforce." That's a sobering thought. The longer kids are in school and the more money we spend on them, the further behind they get.

The great Walter Williams, professor of economics at George Mason University, effectively blows the whistle on the U.S. public school system and its gross failures. Read the entire article here.

A 'Tax Break' That Will RAISE Taxes?! Sheesh!

It seems that Barry-O and his minions in Congress are up to their old tricks yet again--bait and switch.

Read it all from American Thinker.

Walter Cronkite

Walter Cronkite's death brought back many memories from a bygone era in television news. As anchors go he was a cut above, then and now. And, for that I give him his due, and say, 'Rest in peace.'

However, I have seen over-the-top statements about Cronkite since his death that bear little resemblance to reality. He was not as non-partisan as people like to think. He used his position to lobby against the Viet Nam War while our troops were still in the field losing their lives, and he openly opposed Ronald Reagan from 1975 until he was elected in 1981.

No doubt Cronkite made an honest attempt to be as objective as he could, but he certainly did not always succeed, and by the last years of his career he had succumbed to the very same scourge that all talking heads on television news exhibit--the dreadful bias and slant that favors liberals.

In retirement he advocated 'one world government.'

Not exactly a great 'patriot.'

It's All OK, Right?

Allowing government intruders to invade our homes and force vaccinations on an unsuspecting public, as contained in the provisions of the 'Obamacare-Democrat' healthcare bill, is all just hunky-dory, isn't it.

I mean, who would mind being told you MUST take a shot if you have egg allergies, for example, or that you have a moral-ethical objection to taking a vaccine produced with human embryos.

I suppose we'll just have tell our kids, grandkids, and elderly that 'it's all OK.'

"Reactions"

In my daily reads I came across this brand new post for today that is worthy of 'high priority' ranking.

Western Rifle Shooters Association presents a piece that every concerned American citizen who is sickened over the current direction of our government should read. Make it today's top priority.

Here is an excerpt:
But boys and girls, it is no-shit well past time for those men and women of good faith within government to start linking up with the Resistance and getting as much info and materiel out to the freedom team as possible. Every day that you folks sit on the sideline, the more each of you is tarred forever more with the indelible fecal smear of Comrades Soetero, Pelosi, and Reid.

The very same cry goes out for those who do not work for government to get busy.

Read, think, and ACT.

Second Amendment News Roundup for 7/17/09

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

David Codrea reports EXPLOSIVE news about the ATF! It seems the hooded, jackbooted government thugs of this out-of-control, illegal organization of the federal government has informed the state of Tennessee, 'We are above your laws.' You wanna bet, you sorry pieces of vermin?!

Mike Vanderboegh appropriately wallops the ATF, and I agree. There is a special place in hell for these kinds of thugs, where Satan puts them up on a rotisserie to slow roast for a million years.

Walls of the City weighs in on this despicable action of the ATF.

Say Uncle also has a post about it.

Pax Parabellum says that the actions of the ATF effectively render the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution null and void. VERMIN, each and every one!

Days of our Trailers announces a brand new gun rights Examiner for the city of Chicago...a place where they desperately need a powerful voice for liberty!

Tam comments on the fact that Obama and the Dems flat-out LIED about the healthcare bill. There is NO 'CHOICE.' Right there on page 16 it states that private health insurance will be OUTLAWED. The smoking gun, folks.

Western Rifle Shooters Association has a Billy Beck exclusive on civil disobedience by refusing to pay taxes. This may be one of the tactics of last resort that patriots must use to stop this illegitimate government.

Conservative Libertarian Outpost provides the too-little, too-late statements from the NRA on Sotomayor. They waited until it was clear she would be confirmed before saying a damn word.

Brigid is taking a couple of weeks off from blogging, I am sad to say. But I fully understand her reasoning. We will be here for her when she gets back!

21 Guns Salute has a must-read on honoring our soldiers...video included.

Sebastian presents his take on the NRA opposition to Sotomayor, of which I have been openly critical for its lack of timeliness and vehemence. Sebastian has a different view.

From Ride Fast and Shoot Straight: 'Paean to Bureaucratic Stupidity.'

Way Up North provides a great YouTube video that shows Sarah Palin's critics running scared.

The Newbius Papers has THE MUST-read of the entire week, entitled, 'Declaration of Rights.' Don't miss this one whatever you do. Read, think, and ACT!

HA! Armed Citizen posts an ad that is absolutely infuriating 'the Great One.' ROFL! GOOD!

Texas Fred has an important read showing us beyond doubt that Sotomayor lied like a dog to Senators!

And now, my friends, for your Friday afternoon viewing pleasure, The Ol' Broad presents 'Obama the Post Turtle.'

Obamacare--The Cure is Worse Than the Illness

The devil is in the details, and it is becoming all too apparent that the Obamacare bill in the Congress is a 'fix' or 'cure' that is much worse than the illness.

Read all about it in my latest today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Please read and pass along. Thanks!

Second Amendment News Roundup for 7/16/09

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

Snow Flakes in Hell continues with today's updates on the Sotomayor hearings in the Senate.

Texas Fred has urgent, late-breaking news that House Democrats have moved to put on the front-burner the murderous healthcare rationing bill that Obama wants. Time to move to get this STOPPED or else you will be burying your elderly loved ones!

Insight on Freedom reminds us that in addition to giving healthcare to illegal aliens by robbing seniors of their Medicare benefits and private insurance, Obama and the Democrats (and RINOS such as McCain) are going to shove amnesty for illegals down our throats very shortly. The assault is on, folks!

Notoriously Conservative, for some much-needed comic relief, provides some hilarious Obama jokes.

Days of our Trailers notes that the NRA has finally gotten on board with actively opposing Sotomayor. But, to be perfectly honest, from my perspective, it is way too little and much too late. This should have been done MONTHS ago!

Mike McCarville reports that U.S. Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma was totally unimpressed with Sotomayor's answers, including her views on the 2nd Amendment. Coburn has been a stellar patriot in the Senate.

Rev. Kharma has an excellent MUST-read today entitled, 'Look Away, Ignore the Man Behind the Curtain (again).' Read it all.

From John Jacob H: 'Anyone Remember Miguel Estrada, the Wise Latino Man?' Great read and video!

Free in Idaho provides the quote of the day on 'giving up.'

Say Uncle says that gun sales are still up over last year. I predict another run on the gun shops in the late summer and Fall.

The Wandering Minstrel has, 'Is that a banana in your pocket or are you going to shoot me?'

Tam says she has a case of the blahs today. I dunno why I felt that was worthy of a mention on the Roundup other than to say I get them a great deal as well. Probably due to medications and eye problems that give me a fit. But, I carry on. I'm sure Tam will too.

It's good to see Pax Parabellum back up and running after some server problems a few days ago. Go over there and start scrolling for some great reading!

Roberta X provides a few well-chosen comments on the dangers of 'mob rule.'

Atlas Shrugs blows the whistle on Pelosi and the Democrats' frontal assault on free speech. This is serious, folks!

David Codrea posts an excellent round up of all of the Gun Rights Examiners' opinions on Sotomayor and her anti-gun views. Read it all.

Austin Gun Rights Examiner says that 'you can change the course of history' by getting involved in opposing gun control. He provides examples.

From Denver Gun Rights Examiner: 'Lessons from Bring Your Guns to Church Day.'

Atlanta Gun Rights Examiner provides an excellent read on carrying guns, entitled, 'You Bet It's Personal!'

John Pierce has a MUST-read that reinforces gun owners' conviction that 'it takes a gun to stop a gunman.'

Sipsy Street Irregulars has two excellent reads on the Christian Resistance Movement to Government Tyranny, the first being this overview from an American clergyman, and the second being this nifty item showing that the current 'emperor' has no clothes!

KC3 reports big news that truckers have gotten behind an amendment to a bill calling for national reciprocity on concealed carry. It would be great if we could get this passed.

Walls of the City presents excerpts from an interesting exchange between persons engaged in a discussion on firearms issues.

Live from the Upper Texas Gulf Coast reminds us of the mindset toward guns exhibited by people like Dianne Feinstein, no matter what they say now.

UPDATE! Healthcare Reform Will KILL Seniors!

If this monstrosity of a bill called 'healthcare reform' passes Congress, get set to protect your elderly loved ones. This thing will ration their care, hastening their death, in order to pay for illegal aliens and roughly 8 million uninsured!

Read all about it at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Thanks!

Stealth Congress-Obama Scheme in Shadows

While all eyes are focused on Sotomayor, as usual the stealth Congress and Barack Obama see this as a golden opportunity to scheme in the shadows as public attention is fixed elsewhere.

Second Amendment News Roundup for 7/15/09

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

SnowFlakesInHell is live-blogging the Sotomayor hearings, complete with updates as they happen. This is a continuation of their quick-notes from yesterday's hearings (sorry that the link I provided was broken).

The Stiletto does a good job in comparing/contrasting the manner in which the GOP is treating Sotomayor versus the manner in which Democrats trashed Alito and Roberts.

Every Blade of Grass provides an great pictorial on his recent visit to the historic 'Old Fort MacArthur Days' festival.

Gun Nuts has the complete roundup and downloads from last night's edition of Gun Nuts Radio.

Ride Fast and Shoot Straight posts something called 'Tactically Refreshing' that you need to see. Great photo!

Tam made a new resolution concerning the tons of gun questions stacked up in her mailbox, so stay tuned. And yes, she IS quite an authority on firearms!

David Codrea thoroughly exposes Chicago Mayor Daily's utter hypocrisy on guns. This is a MUST-READ!

Mike Vanderboegh also has essential reading on 'the shipwreck of all the Founders' hopes' that we are now witnessing.

There's a lot of great, essential reading out there today, folks, and Western Rifle Shooters Association has another one entitled, 'Think Globally But Act Locally.'

Say Uncle has the quote of the day on why the gun control argument isn't convincing.

Dang. Take a look at this 'toy' Robb Allen posts called 'the Chain SAW.'

Ha! You need to see this letter. Way Up North posts a copy of a letter someone sent to Ma'am Babs Boxer, Senator from Kalifornia, reaming her on her rude remarks to a General.

Walls of the City posts the perfect example that confirms what most of us believe by now, that Barack Obama is driving us right off the cliff.

Texas Fred shows us that Sotomayor's attempts to defend her legal record are a tad bit of a stretch, to say the least.

Alphecca fisks Senator Patrick 'Leaky' Leahy for his less-than-truthful account of history!

Second Amendment News Roundup for 7/14/09

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

CNS News reports that Sonia Sotomayor stated in hearings this morning that the verdict is out on the 2nd Amendment and that it does not apply to the states. Uh, funny how the 14th Amendment is taken to apply to every single right in the BILL OF RIGHTS except 1--the Second Amendment. Sotomayor wants it to stay that way, which begs the question as to why the NRA failed to throw its full weight behind opposing this travesty of a nominee.

The War on Guns weighs in on the Sotomayor/Obama attack on gun rights. And if our 'progressive NRA friends' cannot stop THIS nominee, how do they think they can stop the next one, who WILL shift the Supreme Court to the Left in favor gun control and limited the 2nd Amendment? The Dems now have a 60-seat super-majority. They WILL confirm whoever Obama puts before them. Do you honestly expect the next one will be any less a danger to gun rights?

Sebastian live-blogs the Sotomayor exchange on guns and provides some insightful comments. But I must be quick to point out that the argument 'but she's only replacing Souter who wouldn't be our friend anyway' is a fallacious notion. When Sotomayor is confirmed, the gun rights community (the NRA in particular) WILL regret not vehemently opposing her when Obama chooses his next Court nominee who will be just as bad if not worse.

Conservative Libertarian Outpost posts a special alert on Sotomayor from Gun Owners of America--the ONLY national gun rights advocacy organization that actively opposed and lobbied Senators to oppose Sotomayor.

Free in Idaho presents the only question that really needs an answer from Sonia Sotomayor. A good read!

Days of our Trailers notes that it's very telling that a certain organization we all know and love (yeah, right) has endorsed Sonia Sotomayer for SCOTUS.

Texas Fred has been at the forefront of the battle against Sotomayor, and posts a letter he received today from Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson on the matter and relays this information from Senator John Cornyn.

Ride Fast and Shoot Straight says that Californians are 'gunning up' just like everyone else. I see a renewed run on the gun shops in light of the real possibility that Obama will succeed in turning the Supreme Court anti-gun.

Breda has the scoop on tonight's edition of Gun Nuts Radio.

Bloviating Zeppelin says that history proves that environmental regulations kill commerce, jobs, and cause costs to skyrocket.

The Rustmeister informs us of the real reason restaurant owners don't want gun owners to carry in their businesses.

1 With a Bullet blogs on 'the Wild Bunch Holster.' Interesting!

Say Uncle reports that Arizona's GOP Governor has expanded gun rights in the state. Good!

Standing By says that Obama's bailed out fascist mixture of government and business at Goldman-Sachs is at the center of the push for the cap and trade energy tax. I would also note that so is GE, the owner of NBC News and its subsidiaries.

Western Rifle Shooters Association takes a chilling look at a new 'Czar' Obama has appointed--a savage who puts to shame Hitler's 'doctors' who performed experiments on political prisoners and Jews.

Brigid shares a beautifully-written poem entitled, 'The Wolf Is In My Soul.' Don't pass this up!

2 Goals Dems Hope to Reach by Falsely Accusing Cheney

The Democrats and the Obama Administration have ulterior motives for falsely accusing Dick Cheney of 'misleading Congress' and 'failing to inform Congress of a secret operation he implemented in the War on Terror.'

By floating out this entirely preposterous 'red herring' to see how much traction it gains, the Dems hope to reach 2 critical goals.

I blow the lid on the Dems' ulterior motives in today's column at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Thanks for reading. Tell a friend?

Read all about it at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Today marks the beginning of Senate confirmation hearings for Sotomayor. All Americans should DEMAND that she give an accounting for the 10 questions/issues I cite!

Hysterical Liberals Try to Sell Snake Oil Cures

The more we conservatives present the truth, the more entrenched liberals/progressives seem to become in their lies. They are even attempting to sell 'snake oil' cures to the public for the environment.

Hysterics such as Ma'am Barbara Boxer lead the way.

Read all about it today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.
