Eleven Dems Join GOP to Oppose Obama Plan

Although the vast majority of the Democrats in the U.S. House Representatives marched in lockstep to the directives of San Fran Nan and Barack Obama, eleven brave souls joined Republicans in opposing the massive stimulus package backed by Obama and the House Democratic leadership.

Here are the names of these eleven brave, patriotic Democrats: Griffith, Peterson, Boyd, Bright, Kanjorski, Kratovil, Cooper, Taylor, Ellsworth, Minnick, and Shuler. (H/t to Michelle Malkin).

Not a single Republican in the House voted in favor of this shameful thievery of taxpayers' money.

Thus, this is the Democrats' baby. They will have to accept total blame for the carnage to follow.

When the Washington Post Criticizes Pelosi, Reid...

When the Washington Post criticizes Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, the Democrats who run the House and Senate respectively, you know we have a major problem on our hands.

The Post has never been known for its objectivity when it comes to Democrats and Republicans, with the Democrats, of course, always coming out smelling like a rose.

But the abject, rude partisanship that has characterized the 'rule' of Pelosi and Reid at the expense of the minority GOP for the past 2 years has caught the attention of even the Post.

We know Democratic lawmakers have taken their bully-boy tactics too far when even The Washington Post worries about the lack of civility in the 111th Congress. As the Post notes, during the 110th Congress "Democrats brought more measures to the House floor under closed rules - permitting no amendments - than any of the six previous Republican-controlled congresses." Barring amendments to proposed legislation, of course, means take it or leave it, which renders floor debate all but meaningless. But then a meaningless floor debate is fitting since House members of both parties often don't even bother to read measures before voting on them.

Considering how Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are treating Republicans in the new Congress, the brazen muzzling of minority rights will continue.

Clearly, Democrats demand the rights of the minority...until they are in the majority. It is then they rule with an iron fist that would make Hitler and Stalin proud.

Sieg Heil!

UPDATE: Nan Gets Her Way on New Rules

Commissar Nan Pelosi, Speaker of the House, got her way on the new rules as House Democrats voted overwhelmingly to approve a measure that will muzzle Republicans.

Only a small handful of Democrats did the right thing and voted to retain fairness rules that permit the minority Party to block potential legislation.

The Democrats certainly benefited from the fairness rules while Republicans were in the majority. Never did the GOP attempt to thwart the right of the minority Party to block bills.

Yet when Democrats come to 'power' fairness goes out the door.

And now, the Democrats can steamroll any piece of legislation through Congress without having to contend with opposition.

Sieg Heil!

DERAIL THAT TRAIN!

U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi stated that she would place the Obama agenda 'on the fast track' when the House reconvenes.

This seems to be the Obama game plan. Get as much done as quickly as possible in the first few weeks of the new administration.

But wait just a minute here.

A TRILLION DOLLAR package awaits the approval of Congress that they have only one week to read before the vote.

It's time to derail that train!

How in heaven's name can a conscientious Representative or Senator vote in good conscience on a bill they have never read? Yes, I know it's done, but it's a shoddy way to do government.

We had better know what's in that bill before it is rammed down our throats.

The GOP in the House and Senate had better get ready for the onslaught. We know what the Democrats are doing to do. That gives the GOP time to get ready.

I say, block, block, block!

The country's march toward Socialism must stop NOW. And yes, the filibuster is appropriate under these circumstances.

We must block their attempts to complete the job of socializing the economy and business. We must block their nominees to the courts. These two things are of absolute necessity. This is no time for the faint of heart.

HOUSE GOP TO CONTINUE PROTEST TODAY

Sensing that they have an issue that resonates with the vast majority of Americans, the GOP in the U.S. House of Representatives will reportedly continue its floor protest today.

Republican leaders had expressed outrage that Nancy Pelosi adjourned the House for a 5-week vacation in the middle of an oil crisis that has many Americans hamstrung by high prices at the pump.

By a one-vote majority, the Democrats managed to shut down the House over GOP objections that something must be done about gasoline prices before taking their vacation.

But the Republicans didn't go anywhere. They stayed on the House floor long after most had vacated the premises, making speeches on the necessity to 'drill here, drill now' although there were no lights, microphones, or air conditioning.

When local citizens began to hear of the GOP protest, they drove into the Capitol to join the Republicans in demanding a special session of Congress to deal with the drilling issue. Even the tourists who had gathered in the gallery joined in, often cheering Republican speeches on the need for Congress to lift its ban on offshore oil drilling.

A few within the GOP have stated that they intend to stay put throughout the entire 5-week break, calling attention to the inaction and obstructionism of the Democrats in Nancy Pelosi's House.

C-Span cannot carry the floor protest due to the fact that it does not control cameras in the House. The cameras are under the control of Pelosi, and they have been shut off.

House Democrats Call for Socialism

House Democrats on Wednesday showed their true colors by calling for 'the nationalization of the oil industry.'

The classic definition of 'socialism' is 'a system where the government owns the means of production.'

Thus, when Adolf Hitler nationalized certain industry within the Third Reich, he was implementing socialism within Nazi totalitarianism. When Lenin and Stalin forbade private ownership of property, business, and industry, they were implementing socialism within Communist totalitarianism.

Socialism as an economic system will forever be associated with totalitarian regimes of one sort or another. We know for sure that its proponents are anti-freedom, anti-capitalism, and anti-free markets.

And if the truth were known, they probably don't want you to own private property or engage in any form of free enterprise either.

On the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday, one by one the Democrats called for the nationalization of the oil industry so that 'we can better control the flow of the oil supply.'

Balderdash. The reason they want to own the oil industry is because they don't believe in private enterprise, and the current skyrocketing gasoline prices give them a convenient excuse to seize what is not theirs.

The oil companies and oil refineries do not belong to the government but to the stockholders who invest in them. For government to take private enterprise is stealing, and anyone who attempts to do such a thing should be arrested on the spot, charged with the crime, and taken immediately to jail pending trial.

Read the following sickening and disgusting account of the statements on the floor of our illustrious U.S. House of Representatives, lead by the chief Commie herself, Nancy Pelosi, and her Democrat foot-soldiers in the American version of the Bolshevik Revolution:

Pelosi, House Dems Snub Eagle Scout

House Democrats along with Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, apparently feel that requests to fly flags in honor or memory of someone at the Nation's Capital must be done without any mention of God.

Here are the facts as we understand them.

First, an Eagle Scout requested that a flag be flown at the Capitol in honor of God, country, and his grandfather. These requests are routinely honored by the House.

Second, the Scout requested that the official document describing the flying of that flag include specific language related to God, country, and his grandfather. Historically these requests have been no problem.

Third, the Capital architect who handles these requests denied the young man the right to refer to God in his tribute to his grandfather.

Fourth, naturally the Eagle Scout was sorely disappointed and his family was saddened and angered by such an arbitrary decision. When the news of this reached several House Republicans, the outrage ensued.

Fifth, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated she supports the Capital architect and that she intends to implement one single generic document in cases of special requests for the flying of a flag--a document that will not mention Creator, Deity, or God. No longer will citizens have the right to choose their own wording.

Sixth, a Republican member of the House stated that unless Pelosi changes her mind about the snub of the Eagle Scout, he will introduce legislation next week denouncing House Dems and reversing Pelosi's decision.

Seventh, the issue is not about religion or 'separation of church and state.' Such an assertion is nothing but a red herring. This is about honoring the requests of citizens to have their official documentation worded in the manner of their choosing, which the House has always honored.

Eighth, it is a known fact that the Capital architect in question supports the removal of all references to God in the public square, despite the fact that Washington itself is full of such references in historic political documents, as well as in some of our famous structures, such as the Jefferson Memorial, the Supreme Court, and the U.S. Congress.

Ninth, my hunch is that House Republicans are not the only ones outraged by Pelosi and the Dems on this issue. There is a growing storm a-brewin' in the vast American heartland.

Tenth, when you put extremists with San Francisco values in charge of Congress, you can expect to see this kind of outrageous behavior. When you snub a Boy Scout, you have immediately alienated 75% of the country.

So, my friends, get set for quite a show in the House over the next few days.

Hate Crimes Bill a Nazi Thought-Police Spree

Washington, DC (TLS). Without allowing real debate or amendments to guard free speech and expression, House Democrats passed the so-called 'hate crimes bill' that is actually a license for government to act as the thought police.

Under the ethically-challenged guidance of Rep. John Conyers of the House Judiciary Committee, this bill will essentially make it a hate crime for a minister of the Christian gospel to describe homosexual behavior as a sin, even if it is read straight from the pages of the Holy Bible.

Republicans attempted to amend the bill to grant exemptions to religious organizations which by their very nature are charged with the responsibility to speak sometimes uncomfortable truths that fly in the face of the opinions of the masses.

I am sure Conyers, for example, would not have agreed that the fact that slave owners considered the preaching against slavery by America's ministers constituted hate crimes against slave owners and Southerners. These courageous men often took a stance on the issues of the day that were very unpopular.

What right does the U.S. Government have to tell a minister of a congregation that he cannot speak the truth from the Bible as he interprets it?

The Nazis silenced their opposition in Germany by attacking churches and religious bodies. They did this by first determining what form of speech was allowed. And then, since they had already confiscated the citizens' guns, there was no real resistance when the jackbooted thugs came knocking on their doors to haul them off to camps for merely speaking forbidden words.

President Bush has said he will veto this bill, as well he should. And Congress should promptly uphold that veto. This is a bill that attacks freedom of thought, freedom of expression, and freedom of speech.
