Although the vast majority of the Democrats in the U.S. House Representatives marched in lockstep to the directives of San Fran Nan and Barack Obama, eleven brave souls joined Republicans in opposing the massive stimulus package backed by Obama and the House Democratic leadership.
Here are the names of these eleven brave, patriotic Democrats: Griffith, Peterson, Boyd, Bright, Kanjorski, Kratovil, Cooper, Taylor, Ellsworth, Minnick, and Shuler. (H/t to Michelle Malkin).
Not a single Republican in the House voted in favor of this shameful thievery of taxpayers' money.
Thus, this is the Democrats' baby. They will have to accept total blame for the carnage to follow.

Bailout Passes Senate; DeMint, Dole Vote Against
By an overwhelming majority, the U.S. Senate passed the Wall Street bailout bill by a vote of 74-25.
Among those voting against the bailout measure were 2 of the Carolinas' most popular Senators--Jim DeMint, R-SC, and Elizabeth Dole, R-NC.
DeMint has insisted from day one that it is Constitutionally wrong for the government to be giving money to bad businesses and that it is even worse for the government to be in the mortgage business, such as with FannieMae and FreddieMac.
Both Dole and DeMint have heard an overwhelming outcry of protest from voters in the Carolinas who are against the bailout.
The bill, which was originally 3 pages in length, has now grown to over four hundred pages with sweeteners added to it so that both sides of the aisle can feel placated.
But the really bad news is that the Senate retained the original request of 700 billion dollars of taxpayers' money that will be funneled into Wall Street.
The question is, what will the House do with it when it returns from recess tomorrow? House Republicans are dead-set against the Senate version.
But President Bush has said he will oppose the House Republican alternative bill, and Nancy Pelosi has already referred to House Republicans as 'unpatriotic' for refusing to support the massive bailout.
Thus, the pressure will be on.

Stocks Fall 700 Points, Pelosi Calls Recess
As stocks fell by over 700 points as a result of the failure of Nancy Pelosi's House to approve a fix to the nation's banking and mortgage crisis on Wall Street, the Speaker placed the U.S. House of Representatives on recess until Thursday.
It is unclear at this point as to whether the purpose of the recess was to allow the vermin to crawl back into their holes to lick their wounds or for them to regroup.
Pelosi had already referred to House Republicans who balked at the Democrat-Bush plan for a massive bailout of Wall Street as 'unpatriotic.'
I suppose she thinks the overwhelming majority of the electorate who oppose the plan is also 'unpatriotic.' This comes from the San Francisco liberal who embraces such 'patriotic' nutcases as Code Pink.
Pelsoi, Reid, and the Democrats in both chambers of Congress are on precarious ground as they have placed their reputations on the line with an enraged electorate that believes the dirty scoundrels in Congress are just as much to blame for the Wall Street fiasco as the CEOs of the companies in trouble.
House Republicans, who vehemently objected to the bailout measure, received enough concessions to cause many to vote for the amended plan, but it was not enough to gain approval of that plan. Many within the GOP are still outraged that 250 billion of taxpayers' money was still going to be given upfront to Wall Street firms.
The GOP held out for an insurance program and loans rather than an outright bailout. But Democrats would not agree to such a plan.
The Senate takes up the debate on Wednesday of this week, one day prior to the end of the House recess. Perhaps during the Senate debate we will see just how much the politicians have been listening to the voters.
If Congress would but cut back the capital gains tax, allowing for an immediate flow of cash into banking systems, and approve loans and insurance for ailing companies--programs that the companies would have to pay to be part of, and of course loans that the companies would have to repay--then not a single dollar of taxpayers' money would be risked for the fix.
This, I believe, is a plan that would work and that the American people would support.

BAILOUT AGREEMENT: WHAT'S IN IT?
Congressional Democrats and Republicans have apparently reached an agreement on a bailout of Wall Street that deletes the most objectionable portions of the original proposal while retaining language on which both sides can agree.
At first glance it appears that House Republicans succeeded in getting nixed the Democrat/Bush administration proposal that focused solely on grants or giveaways of taxpayers' money rather than insurance.
The latest proposal includes an insurance program that the troubled financial institutions will pay to be part of. No taxpayer money at all will be used for this. We have House Republicans
and John McCain to thank for this concession.
The compromise plan also limits any salary boosts or bonus benefits for the CEO's of corporations that participate in the plan.
There will be no money included in the bill for ACORN--a corrupt liberal Democrat lobbying outfit that supports Barack Obama. The Dems had originally slipped this into the bill until House Republicans cried foul.
It goes without saying that the GOP had to make some concessions to get a compromise deal. Thus, the latest proposed plan includes an immediate infusion of 250 billion into Wall Street from the federal government, but this is greatly reduced from the original 700 billion proposed by Democrats and the Bush administration.
There are, of course, many more provisions in this bill that are too numerous to mention here, but there are 2 sources of detailed information.
For a complete summary of the main provisions, click HERE.
For the complete text of the bill itself, click HERE.
Needless to say, I still object to 250 billion dollars of taxpayers' money being given to Wall Street failures. But with Democrats in control of Congress, what can we honestly expect? Taxpayer money to them is like Santa Claus on Christmas. It rains millions all over the place, just waiting for them to spend.

HOUSE GOP TO CONTINUE PROTEST TODAY
Sensing that they have an issue that resonates with the vast majority of Americans, the GOP in the U.S. House of Representatives will reportedly continue its floor protest today.
Republican leaders had expressed outrage that Nancy Pelosi adjourned the House for a 5-week vacation in the middle of an oil crisis that has many Americans hamstrung by high prices at the pump.
By a one-vote majority, the Democrats managed to shut down the House over GOP objections that something must be done about gasoline prices before taking their vacation.
But the Republicans didn't go anywhere. They stayed on the House floor long after most had vacated the premises, making speeches on the necessity to 'drill here, drill now' although there were no lights, microphones, or air conditioning.
When local citizens began to hear of the GOP protest, they drove into the Capitol to join the Republicans in demanding a special session of Congress to deal with the drilling issue. Even the tourists who had gathered in the gallery joined in, often cheering Republican speeches on the need for Congress to lift its ban on offshore oil drilling.
A few within the GOP have stated that they intend to stay put throughout the entire 5-week break, calling attention to the inaction and obstructionism of the Democrats in Nancy Pelosi's House.
C-Span cannot carry the floor protest due to the fact that it does not control cameras in the House. The cameras are under the control of Pelosi, and they have been shut off.

Pelosi Reverses Decision on Flag
This didn't take long. Word has come this afternoon that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, under intense pressure from House Republicans, has reversed her earlier decision to uphold the architect's office snub of an Eagle Scout by refusing to allow him to refer to God in a tribute to his grandfather.
The Eagle Scout has requested a flag be flown at the Capitol in honor of his grandfather. He requested that the wording on his official documentation include the word 'God' because his grandfather is a deeply spiritual person.
The capitol architect's office refused to allow the reference to God, and Speaker Pelosi initially upheld that decision.
By earlier this afternoon, however, House Republicans had already gained over 100 signatures on a measure to condemn the Speaker and to reverse her decision. An outrage from the citizens across the heartland was also heard in Washington.
Thus, Speaker Pelosi reversed her earlier decision, stating that no longer will the architect's office be allowed to censor such documents on the basis of religious expression.
The citizens have won a significant victory. Let freedom ring. And let the forces of anti-freedom be condemned.

Dianne Feinstein a Strange Ally in Border Patrol Fight
Washington, DC (TLS). Despite all of her faults, including the cloud of corruption hanging over her head in the scandal that sent millions of dollars of government contracts to her husband's companies, Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-CA, has become an ally in the fight to free the two innocent Border Patrol agents.
As The Liberty Sphere reported earlier, the U.S. Senate opened an investigation into government corruption surrounding the Bush Administration's handling of the Ramos-Compean case--the two Border Patrol agents who were wrongfully prosecuted, convicted, sent to prison for over 10 years for shooting an illegal alien drug smuggler in the buttocks.
The U.S. House of Representatives repeatedly tried and failed to get cooperation from the Bush Administration in its investigation into the matter. House Republicans were at the forefront of the fight to free the two innocent men.
Yet the Administration continually rebuffed members of the President's own Party, and even lied to the Congressional committee charged with investigating the case.
Not surprisingly, the Democrat-controlled U.S. Senate seized the issue, sensing an opportunity for a good Bush-bash. Normally these exercises are nothing more than displays of political opportunism.
In this case, however, if the Democrats are acting for political purposes only, they picked an excellent case over which to give a much-deserved licking to President Bush and his Administration.
Senator Dianne Feinstein, of all people, sent a memo to the President calling for Agents Ramos and Compean to be freed from prison.
The Liberty Sphere heartily applauds Senator Feinstein for her stand.
This is one of the few cases where Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and Libertarians can agree and work together.
The Bush Administration was wrong to pursue this case against the Agents. It was wrong to defend Johnny Sutton, the U.S. Attorney who prosecuted them. It was wrong to lie to Congress about the two falsely-accused Agents.
We warned the President that unless he cleans house on his own, fires Johnny Sutton, frees the Agents, and rids the DOJ and Homeland Security of those who lie to Congress, the Democrats in Congress will conduct a hostile investigation into this matter, which may result in not only a Democrat-controlled Congress in 2008, but the loss of the White House to the Democrats as well.
Senator Feinstein's memo to the President concerning the release of Ramos and Compean should be the least of Mr. Bush's worries. If Senate Democrats choose to pursue this matter further, exposing the corruption of the Sutton-DOJ-Homeland Security debacle in handling this case, the President may well find himself in a tanker-load of legal hot water.
The more digging the Democrats in the Senate do, the more I am sure the President wishes he had cooperated with Republicans in the House in their attempt to do the right thing.
The President now has political enemies breathing down his neck on the Border Patrol scandal. The Dianne Feinstein memo is only the beginning.
