Apparently Kathleen Sebelius, Obama's ultra-Leftwing Secretary of Health and Human Services, has inched one step closer to calling for mandatory swine flu vaccinations.
This headline and news story quotes Sebelius as saying, 'Americans must get swine flu vaccinations.'
Better get set, my friends, the Nanny State is coming after you with a needle.
Now, I am not totally against vaccinations and other prudent precautions. Using one's head about these things rather than engaging in knee-jerk reactions is of utmost importance.
However, I just don't take very kindly to anybody in this government telling me I must do anything!
Barack, Kathleen, and company could give us a little more credit for our intelligence than this. I am a grown adult, older than both Obama and Sebelius, and I have sense enough to make my own healthcare decisions without their sticking their noses into my business.
Message to the Nanny State--GO AWAY! BEGONE! AWAY WITH YOU!

Blowing the Lid on the Progressive Movement
Liberals today prefer to be called 'progressives.' But have you ever stopped to consider the history and goals of the progressive movement? It is an eye-opener.
I discuss this topic today at Columbia Conservative Examiner.
It is imperative that we consider the underlying philosophy of this movement as we fight the attempts of the big government statists to intrude in every aspect of our lives.
Tell a friend?

***SPECIAL LIBERTY ALERT***
News from the San Fransisco of the South, North Carolina: A judge has ruled that a family that homeschools their children must place them in public schools, although the children's test scores place them 2 grade levels above their present grade!
The judge claims they need 'a more well-rounded education.'
What, like, how to roll a doobie? How to give or receive a BJ to/from at least 25 members of the opposite sex by the time you're 15?
Give me a freakin' break! This sounds like something we are going to see much more of during the ominous years of Barack Obama. So, get set. The state wants your kids!! They must be indoctrinated into the mindset of the Big Brother Socialist State.
A demonstration is planned against the judge's ruling.
Read the details HERE.

Should There Be a Law Forcing Physical Exercise?
From Dr. Walter Williams:
The notion that government should require citizens to do whatever is 'for their own good' in the name of 'promoting the general welfare' is a common argument among statists.
But is this kind of government intrusion really what we want? Is this what the Founders envisioned?
Be sure to read the entirety of Williams' excellent essay here.
During winter months, I work out 10 minutes on the treadmill and lift weights at seven stations four mornings a week. Over the years, during the spring through fall months, I racked up about 2,000 miles on my road bike. This level of exercise helps account for why, at 73 years, I'm in such good health and physical fitness. So my question to you is whether you think regular exercise is a good idea. I think the answer is definitely yes, if nothing other than its beneficial effects on health care costs. Since exercise is a good idea, would you support a congressional mandate that all Americans engage in regular exercise?

Statism vs. Liberty
The notion of a big government nanny state takes on many forms. Big government Republicans can be just as dangerous as liberal Democrats. Both support big government and are therefore the purveyors of statism.
Despite their protests to the contrary, statists by their very nature oppose human liberty.
We have seen the work of so-called 'compassionate conservatives' in vastly expanding the size and scope of government. Liberty has suffered as a result.
To be sure, 'compassionate conservatives' compensate for their statism by supporting tax cuts. Big government liberals have never supported the idea that citizens get to keep more of their own money.
As Geraldine Ferraro told Bill O'Reilly recently when O'Reilly complained about Obama's possible hefty tax increases on his money, 'Just be glad you get to keep some of it.'
This is the liberal ideology in a nutshell. They think your money belongs to them and you get to keep some of it only by their good graces.
Ferraro is totally and absolutely wrong. She should just be glad we allow the government to take some of it.
After all, that money is ours, not the government's. We pay taxes only as the citizens allow government to collect it.
At least the big government conservatives agree with my view on taxes.
But I am greatly disturbed by recent trends among conservatives, especially within the GOP, to embrace and support the expansion of government. This is totally antithetical to the views of our Founders.
As someone stated recently as I was reading through blogs, perhaps the terms 'conservative' and 'Republican' have lost their significance. Perhaps better terms are 'statism' as propounded by big government statists, and 'liberty' as propounded by small government Jeffersonians.
An encouraging sign that the true conservatives, the small government Jeffersonians, have gotten the message is that a group within government made up of the guardians of liberty has been engaging in a series of meetings since the election.
This group maintains that they put no stock in the fact that a person may refer to themselves as 'Republican' or 'conservative.' The only thing that matters to them is whether or not the person is anti-statism and a guardian of liberty as envisioned by the small-government Framers of the Constitution.
And this is the best sign of hope I've seen in a long time.

Individual Rights Take a Beating in South Carolina
The South Carolina Supreme Court has ruled that the city of Greenville, SC is within the law in enacting a smoking ban. The Greenville ordinance had been challenged by a group of business owners in the city.
At least a dozen other towns and cities in South Carolina were awaiting word from the state Supreme Court before enacting proposed smoking bans.
It appears that what was once a bastion of individual rights has become a mecca for the meddling nanny-state gestapo. Rather than rule that the decision to smoke is an individual one that is no one else's business, not to mention that business owners should be allowed to decide on their own whether or not to allow smoking on their own private property, the Supreme Court in the state threw its weight behind the purveyors of the Big Brother Nanny State who seem to believe they have the right to tell other people what to do.
Government in the United States was not established to save people from themselves nor to force people to do things 'for their own good.'
Apparently neither the citizens nor the Supreme Court in South Carolina are even vaguely aware of this concept.
I would have expected such a ruling in California or Massachusetts, but not South Carolina.
Thus, the march to beat individual rights into the ground continues....
Sieg Heil!

For Freedom's Sake, Pig Out on Krispy Kremes
Never being one who passes up a good opportunity to be politically incorrect, I headed out this evening to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, bought two dozen hot original glazed, came back home and pigged out.
For those who may be unfamiliar with these wonderful delicacies, when Krispy Kreme shops are in the midst of making a batch of fresh original glazed doughnuts, they put the 'hot' sign on outside, meaning that if you purchase them while that sign is on, you will be treated to the very best hot and fresh doughnuts on earth, the glazed 'Krispy Kremes.'
And they will melt in your mouth.
I ate half a dozen of them driving back home. And I'm not saying how many I ate once I got home. But it was wonderful, and I had a good time.
But the joy of the taste of these heavenly delicacies only barely surpassed the joy of doing something the food police, Big Brother, the government school system, and other wacko activists consider to be a big no-no.
It was almost as if with every bite I got up into their elitist, holier-than-thou faces and said, 'Take that, you Commie!'
In the United States of America today, that former bastion of individual freedom, there are forces on every hand that try to dictate to us what to eat, what not to eat, what to drive, what type of fuel to use, what temp to set our thermostats on, not to mention what to think and feel.
They will also tell you that you cannot pack certain food items into your kids' lunch containers, that you are forbidden to smoke even in your own home (in some areas), and that you are not allowed to carry tools to defend yourselves against thugs in shopping malls and on college campuses who ARE carrying those tools.
I am tired of it--SICK and tired of it, as a matter of fact. And thus, I will from now on take every opportunity to blow smoke into the faces of the food and tobacco police, and all of the other operatives of the nanny state.
I will not eat anything except what I want to eat, period. I will smoke wherever I please, except when it bothers those with breathing problems. I will slip doughnuts and cookies into the lunch containers of my children and grandchildren. I am going to continue to drive half-ton pickup trucks.
Back to the Krispy Kremes. The word is that this Winston-Salem, North Carolina company is in financial trouble due to the emphasis on 'politically correct eating,' as well as heavy competition from Dunkin Donuts, which, in our opinion, is nowhere near the quality and taste of Krispy Kreme.
Thus, every chance I get I am going to buy some Krispy Kremes. And I am going to enjoy them without guilt.
Let the food police go straight to hell.
