They Sure Know How To Pick 'Em, Don't They?

The members of the American Left and the mainstream media pick the oddest individuals upon whom to bestow their highest accolades, don't they?

No sooner had Barack Obama announced his candidacy than the mainstream media and the liberal elite had proclaimed him Presidential material because he is, supposedly, 'smart,' 'charismatic,' and possessing of that all-important quality when picking a President, 'star appeal.'

As it turns out, Obama is actually nothing more than a dumb elitist who lacks basic common sense and intelligence.

Here is the perfect case in point. Obama had been campaigning in Pennsylvania seeking to overcome Hillary's overwhelming lead. And he had made some inroads, not by using honorable means but by lying to the citizens about gun rights.

This is the man who has supported a handgun ban all his political career. Yet he told audiences all across Pennsylvania that he is 'the pro-Second Amendment candidate.'

He also appealed to the citizens' sense of decency, honor, and values by highlighting the rich religious heritage of the people, particularly in the rural areas of the state.

However, no sooner had the candidate left Pennsylvania than he was out in San Francisco (where Obama's true opinions resonate with most of the population) trashing the very values to which he had appealed while in Pennsylvania.

Referring to the people of rural Pennsylvania as individuals whose ignorance leads them to 'cling to their guns and their religion,' Obama proceeded to make it clear that the people with whom he is most comfortable are the gun-grabbing, rights-robbing, military-hating, pinko Commie extremists of San Francisco.

Now, you tell me what intelligent politician in his right mind would do such a thing, even if he truly detested the views of a group of people whose votes he is trying to win?

Given his history in the Illinois legislature, it is a safe bet to assume that Obama truly does detest the values of rural Pennsylvania--the bastion of blue dog Democrats and Reagan conservatives (in both Parties). After all, they believe that gun rights are inherent in this nation and that religious faith is one of the defining pillars of this Republic.

This means, of course, that handgun bans are viewed as flagrant violations of the U.S. Constitution and that Obama's ultra-liberal denomination, the United Church of Christ, has consistently fought against the traditional ideals upon which this nation was founded.

Obama has apologized, of course, not for the ideas he propounded but only for his 'poor choice of words.'

In other words, 'I still believe you people in Pennsylvania are a bunch of backward, ignorant, hayseed, gun-totin,' and Bible thumpin' religious fanatics...but I apologize for describing my views with those particular words.'

Thinking people are not going to buy that. Let's see how much more intelligent the people of Pennsylvania turn out to be than the imbecile who insulted them.

Sarkozy Does Penance for Chirac's Sins

French President Nicolas Sarkozy's visit to America is one of the most significant events in U.S.-French relations in over 40 years.

The visit to the White House, the speech before Congress, and the remarks made by the French head-of-state are all the trappings of light-years of progress, according to the protocols of international relations.

In fact, if Jacques Chirac is the dark symbol of a power-hungry, rogue, anti-American European who fell from grace due to his multitude of sins, then Sarkozy is the traditional French libertarian, the U.S.-friendly white knight who rides into America to do penance for the sins of Jacques Chirac.

Not only did Sarkozy kiss the hand of the American First Lady, graciously embrace the American President as his trans-Atlantic friend, and speak before Congress, but he eloquently and convincingly articulated the essence of 'the American dream,' the ideals of Capitalism, and the shining example to the world of a government based upon human liberty.

He should know. Traditional Frenchmen who are history-literate know that French thinkers/philosophers supplied much of the intellectual foundation for the formation of a new government in a new world that is based upon the concept of freedom.

The United States and France have a long history of close relations ever since the beginning of the American Republic. The Statue of Liberty, of course, was a gift to the U.S. from France.

France's relations with the U.S. began to grow sour after the Charles De Gaul years. France turned decidedly Socialist, and a string of French Presidents were elected to office that had a decidedly cold attitude toward the U.S., ultimately culminating in Jacques Chirac.

Chirac was from the very start a dark figure. It was he who cut the very first nukes-for-oil deal with Saddam Hussein in Iraq. In that deal Iraq obtained its first nuclear reactor, and France obtained Saddam's oil.

Relations between the U.S. and France reached a dangerously low ebb when Chirac not only opposed the decision by President Bush and Prime Minister Blair to attack Iraq but condemned in extremely harsh terms the American President and U.S. foreign policy.

Everyone knows that Chirac's behavior stemmed from his long association with Saddam. With Chirac, it truly was 'all about the oil.'

The result was a massive, grassroots-led boycott of travel to France.

With Chirac finally gone after seemingly a never-ending reign of terror, Sarkozy represents a distinct shift in French politics. The prevailing wisdom is now based upon the fact that the two nations are centuries-long natural allies and that relations between the two are in dire need of mending.

Sarkozy's visit to the U.S. is a resounding and successful coup of sorts--a bid to mend fences with France's old friend. And mend them he did.

With words that cannot in any way be misconstrued, Sarkozy made it clear that he is no Socialist and that Socialism is a failure. Further, he demonstrated that the days of Jacques Chirac are over, finis. It is a new day in American-French relations.

In just a few short hours Sarkozy kissed the hands of the 'Pope,' addressed the 'Cardinals,' and gave his confession of faith in American freedom and Capitalism at the altar of the Halls of Government and the mainstream media.

The problem is, the mainstream media managed to downplay Sarkozy's poignant words. So has the blogosphere. With the mainstream media and the major blog sites dominated by rabid Leftists, it is not very hard to understand their silence on Sarkozy's ringing endorsement of the American way.

Without Chirac to sound all of their anti-American themes, I suppose the Left has decided that Sarkozy is not one they want to be promoting.

Why British Hostages Failed to Defend Themselves

Washington, DC (TLS). The Liberty Sphere has made no attempt to hide our utter disdain of the Iranian low-lives who took the British soldiers captive. We believe that a decisive, devastating military response from the West is essential.

However, we must also shine the spotlight on the failure of the British soldiers to defend themselves. Rather than fire on their captors, they caved.

There is only one reason for this. The politically-correct Leftists who run British society and who are working overtime to run America have made it unacceptable for a soldier to fire upon the enemy. If they do, they may face court-martial if an enemy dies.

This is precisely what happened in Viet Nam, and it is the reason we lost. As President Ronald Reagan courageously observed, 'The brave men and woman who served in Viet Nam should not take the fall for losing a war that the politicians in Washington would not let them win.'

The rules of engagement under which the West operates in Wartime these days is a joke. Only under limited conditions can a soldier return hostile fire or use force to defend themselves against an operation such as an Iranian hostage-siege.

This is entirely unacceptable and is the result of years of politically-correct balderdash emanating from certain politicians and unelected government officials.

THE LEFT WISHES DEATH TO TONY SNOW

Washington, DC (TLS). The news concerning the health status of White House Press Chief Tony Snow has sent Leftwing bloggers on a hate-fest.

Snow is suffering from a recurrence of colon cancer, which has spread to his liver.

Upon receipt of this news the Left wasted no time in hitting the blogosphere to post some of the most hateful, cold, and barbaric messages one can imagine, all aimed at Snow. One writer hoped that cancer would finally rid the world of Snow, whom the writer referred to as a liar. Another stated that the recurrence of Snow's cancer indicates that God hates him.

Many of these messages appeared on the website of Leftwing nutcase Adrianna Huffington. Others were posted on various and sundry websites that are frequented by the Commie freedom-haters.

This behavior is not new on the part of the Left. A mere two weeks ago we witnessed the very same sewage oozing from the mouths and pens of Leftwing nutcases as they heard the news of Vice-President Dick Cheney's blood clot in the leg. A near-unanimous chorus of these neanderthals wished death for Cheney.

If there were ever any doubt at all concerning the mindset, the pathology, and the rampant extremism of the Left, these deplorable messages should remove any doubt. These people are dangerous and they let nothing stand in the way of their subversive attempt to ruin American society by ushering in their Commie-Nazi plan for government control of every aspect of life...not even health problems on the part of opponents.

To the contrary, the Left views these health problems as a window of opportunity to seize more ground. If one more patriot in the tradition of Jefferson is pushed out of the way by health problems or death, the Left views this as nothing more than a tiny gap through which it can seize more power.

This mindset is absolutely no different than the implementation of the mass extermination of political opponents by such stalwart role models as Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot. Without coming right out and proposing such a thing overtly, the Left can hardly contain its utter contempt for those who oppose their march toward an Orwellian society.

Thus, rather than outright calling for the extermination of people like Bush, Cheney, Snow, or ME, they had rather take to the streets to celebrate heart disease, cancer, and death for those who adhere to the values of the Founders of this nation.

Besides, the news of the demise of conservatives, or of their health problems, just gives the coke-snortin' pot-heads another excuse to party and get zonked.

The Dick Cheney Factor

Washington, DC (TLS). Despite assurances from the U.S. military that Vice-President Dick Cheney was not the target of an assassination attempt yesterday during a trip to Afghanistan, the Taliban wasted no time claiming that the Vice-President was, indeed, a target. Cheney himself has made it clear that he believes that he was a target and that the attack occurred in close proximity, so close in fact that Cheney says he heard an extremely loud boom. This is all in spite of the military's official statement that Cheney was 'well out of danger when the attack occurred.'

Taliban leaders stated late yesterday that they had full knowledge of the Vice-President's itinerary and his whereabouts.

I will make no attempt to prove or disprove an assassination attempt against Cheney here. I simply take the Taliban at its word. It is no secret that both the Taliban and Al Qaeda would consider the assassination of either Cheney or Bush to be a great triumph of extremist Islam. Thus, we can be thankful that Cheney narrowly escaped the murderous clutches of one of the most dangerous terrorist organizations in the world.

Not everyone in America shares those sentiments, however.

In November of last year, the Huffington website posted a poem in the form of a prayer. The subject of the poem was a man who was praying for the death of Dick Cheney, the result of a massive heart-attack. Numerous conservative columnists and bloggers screamed to high heaven about the despicable display, and Huffington eventually took down the poem from her site.

Yesterday, however, various and sundry extremist Leftist bloggers began their verbal carnage once again, lamenting the fact that Cheney did not die in the assassination attempt in Afghanistan.

One such blogger wrote that he could not ascertain whether it would be better for Cheney to be assassinated, since obviously conservatives would use his martyrdom to sing his praises, or for Cheney to live so that he can eventually be brutally dragged through the mud in the wake of charges of 'crimes against humanity.' The mere fact that a blogger would even be musing about such a dreadful and inhumane subject is a chilling example of just how far into the abyss the Left has fallen.

There was a time in America when treason and sedition were vigorously prosecuted.

Those days are no more. America seems to have as many enemies among its own citizens as it does among terrorists overseas.

Has it occurred to all of you as it has to me that each and every outrageously hateful and extremist position that is taken by terrorists seems to be echoed by the far-Left in this country? With some of our own citizens writing on the Internet that they are sorry that Cheney was not assassinated, apparently we have as much to fear from them as we do the Taliban and Al Qaeda.

Therefore, this column is dedicated to the honor of Vice President Dick Cheney, the man that most of us conservatives wish were President. If ever there were a consistently brave, patriotic voice in this government, it is that of Dick Cheney. He has stood his ground in the face of stinging opposition. He has been a bold soldier in the fight for liberty and justice in the face of terrorism. He has not hesitated to point out the irrationality and hypocrisy of Leftists in Congress, pointedly at times.

I for one am proud to call him my Vice President, and The Liberty Sphere is thankful that his life was spared in the wake of an assassination attempt by some of the most despicable human beings on the planet.

And the Leftists in this country who hailed the attempt on Cheney's life fall into a category even lower than the terrorists. They are ours, and yet they say such things. They are scum-bags who are to be loathed.

How the Left Contributes to Muslim Takeover of Europe

Washington, DC (TLS). A rising chorus of voices in America and in Europe has warned that extremist Muslims are on the brink of a complete takeover of Europe. At the present rate of immigration and the bullying of the extremists within Islam, Europe has less than 10 years, tops, to stop the entire continent from becoming an Islamic region. Some countries have even less time than that.

The thing that is most discouraging, however, about the Jihadist surge in Europe is not that the extremists are using urban warfare, or suicide bombers, and the like, to accomplish their goal. They have actually done very little of this, with the exception of the hundreds of firebombings of autos in and around Paris for the past two years. Rather, the Jihadists are being helped by the Left. With the Left's relentless emphasis on political correctness and 'multiculturalism,' nothing can be put in the way of the extremist surge. Without a deeply held conviction that the Judeo-Christian culture of the West is far superior to the vision of the world held by Muslims, there is no motivation to stop intrusions of deviant extremists into the present culture. And, make no mistake about it, these extremists are most definitely driven by their agenda to impose their inferior cultural and religious values on the rest of the world.

Thus, unless Europe rises from its drunken stupor, fueled by its addiction to political correctness and multiculturalism, the Islamic onslaught will continue until nothing is left of Western European culture as we know it. Any vestige of what Europe once was will be swallowed up by the madness and ruthlessness of a Middle Eastern culture and religion that espouses total dominance, violence, and religious totalitarianism.
