Here We Go Again

Every time some sicko boneheaded numbskull goes on a shooting rampage we are treated to renewed calls for gun control. Punish the 99.9% of the gun owners who are law abiding citizens for the actions of a .1% wacko fringe.

That makes about as much sense as suspending driving privileges for all Americans because of drunk drivers who take a joy ride and kill 10 people in the process...except DUI drivers kill many more people per year than guns.

Spare me the drivel of the anti-freedom, opportunistic gun-grabbers. Shove a sock in them.

GOA Issues Alert on Immigration Bill

Washington, DC (TLS). Gun Owners of America has issued a special alert concerning the new immigration bill backed by the White House, Ted Kennedy, and John McCain. This bill contains provisions that could shut down every gun shop in America.

In crafting this ill-conceived bill, gun-grabbers Ted Kennedy and John McCain could not resist including provisions that would target gun stores. If a gun shop with as few as 5 employees commits at least two violations of federal gun laws, including paperwork violations, that store could be designated as a 'criminal gang' and shut down.

In addition, if an anti-gun zealot in the government determines that the 'main purpose' of that gun shop is to commit gun violations, then it can be shut down.

My friends, ambiguous wording such as this, aimed at gun stores, is simply one more way the anti-gun bigots in Washington have determined to rob the citizens of their Constitutional rights.

GOA Issues Urgent Alert on H.R. 297

Washington, DC (TLS). Gun Owners of America (GOA), the only no-compromise gun lobby in Washington, has issued an urgent alert concerning the progress of the Dingell-McCarthy Bill (H.R. 297).

GOA says now is the time to contact your Washington representatives to get this bill defeated.

Carolyn McCarthy, the co-sponsor, never saw a gun-grab measure she did not like. And this time, she has managed to bring aboard some unexpected allies, such as a few Republicans and the NRA, which has stated it supports passage of the measure.

However, the bill will prevent millions of law-abiding citizens from purchasing firearms and will add yet one more plank of government control over an individual right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.

Gun Control Idiot in Carolina

Washington, DC (TLS). The idiot of the day is a man down in South Carolina who wrote to his local newspaper on gun control. Here is what he had to say:

'Was the Virginia Tech massacre the price that this country is willing to pay for the Second Amendment?'

Way to go, Einstein.

Let me show you the 'logic' of this question.

Are tens of thousands of highway deaths per year the price this country is willing to pay for the privilege of driving a car?

If freedom results in unintended deaths, do those deaths negate freedom?

Somebody needs to tell Einstein down in South Carolina that if our forefathers held this 'logic' about freedom and rights, we would all still be living under tyranny.

MAYOR BLOOMBERG COULD BE CHARGED WITH FELONY

Washington, DC (TLS). Virginia Attorney-General Robert McDonnell is warning New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg that if he continues to send undercover investigators into Virginia to try to catch gun dealers in illegal sales, he will be charged with a felony.

Bloomberg contends that gun dealers in Virginia are responsible for illegal guns winding up on the streets of NYC.

Thus, the Mayor, ignoring the separation of powers and limitations of jurisdictions, has been sending in the undercover cops to Virginia.

Has Bloomberg ever stopped to notice that he has no power outside New York City?

The fact that Virginia's gun rights laws are more in line with the U.S. Constitution than NYC's bigoted, anti-gun hysteria gives the Mayor no right to ignore the boundaries of jurisdictions. And if he persists in this idiotic practice, he just may wind up in handcuffs.

As a matter of fact, given that Bloomberg has already been engaging in activity that could land him in legal hot water, The Liberty Sphere would encourage the Virginia Attorney-General go to ahead and charge Bloomberg with a felony.

This is the only way we are going to get some of this anti-Constitutional activity in this country stopped.

The Disarming of America Has Begun

Washington, DC (TLS). Well, my friends, the disarming of America has begun. As soon as there is a stated, step-by-step, cohesive plan in place, the process of confiscating the guns from American citizens has begun, even before a law has been passed.

The very first step in a systematic, large-scale process of confiscation is the development of a concrete plan.

The gun-grabbers of the Leftwing in this nation have such a plan, and they have been so brazen as to publicized it.

Wasting no time in getting to work on capitalizing from the carnage of a crazed madman at Virginia Tech, Senator Carolyn McCarthy issued a Trojan horse by stating there would be no attempt at gun control in this Congress. Little Chucky Schumer did the same thing.

But it was all a ruse...an attempt to quell the fears of law-abiding citizens that their rights were endangered in the aftermath of the Virginia Tech massacre. Yet, even as they issued such reassurances to the public, both Little Chucky and McCarthy were busy at work behind the scenes crafting an unholy alliance with some Republicans and the NRA to pass a gun control measure, supposedly aimed at tightening background checks.

The problem is that this bill punishes millions of non-violent, ordinary citizens by banning them from gun ownership even if they have so much as visited a doctor's office with depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention-deficit, hyper-activity disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and a myriad of other legitimate medical diagnoses for which there are proven effective treatments.

No matter. If you are a U.S. Veteran to whom your country called to carry a weapon in wartime, you will be effectively barred from gun ownership as a civilian if you have received treatment for post-traumatic stress resulting from your service to your country.

You were good enough to carry a gun as a soldier, but now your government will deem you to be unfit to carry a gun as a civilian merely because you are now considered damaged goods.

My friends, this is an outrage of gargantuan proportions. The ONLY major gun rights group in America that will not compromise on this obvious attempt to steal rights is the GOA. Even the NRA caved to the gun grabbers on this one.

Now, back to the plan to confiscate guns. It is printed in the Toledo Blade in an op-ed column written by Dan Simpson. It is a shockingly candid admission that the Left has a definite plan to implement gun confiscation...that is, if they can succeed in convincing enough lawmakers in Washington to bite the bullet.

Impossible, you say? Don't be so quick to dismiss it. After all, they have just succeeded in getting the NRA to cave in to a McCarthy ruse to rob millions of citizens of the right to own a gun!

As I have said many times before, these attempts to rob citizens of their rights will only create a massive underground black-market for guns without serial numbers. This way they cannot be traced or registered. Those who squelch human rights usually find that such attempts only backfire on them in the end, just like Prohibition.

The very same thing will happen with guns, if the present trends continue. Gun owners by the millions will merely tell their politicians, 'To hell with your rules and regulations!'

If they want to play this game with over 100 million gun owners in America, we can sure devise methods to keep our rights if we have to. And we will not hesitate to do it.

Read the entire plan here:

ALERT! H.R. 297 Gun Rights Ban on Fast Track

Washington, DC (TLS). Little Chucky Schumer was on Bill O'Reilly recently to talk about gun control. Since the Democrats took control of Congress, they have basically laid low on the subject of guns, with the exception of the introduction of the McCarthy bill. But the lack of support led McCarthy to state that gun control was dead in this Congress.

However, the Virginia Tech massacre has the gun-grabbers coming out of the woodwork, seizing the actions of one crazed madman to enact massive, sweeping gun control legislation upon law-abiding citizens. Little Chucky has a plan, and it ain't pretty.

In a bold move that has shocked even the most astute observers of Congress, Schumer and his colleagues are going to try to ram this legislation through Congress BY ACCLAMATION without even as much as a vote!

Clearly, this is an all-out attack on the rights of American citizens. The politicians in Congress do not even have the courage to go on the record with a 'yea' or 'nay' vote.

H.R. 297 will treat gun owners worse than terrorists. It is one terrible piece of legislation, introduced in the name of protecting us against mass murders such as Cho Seung-Hui. It is always interesting as to how politicians will use one single crazed idiot as a tool by which to hit ordinary citizens over the head and rob them of their rights.

GOA has issued yet another alert on this debacle. It is time to contact Congress about this foul scheme to ram through H.R. 297. This will be a major knock-down, drag-out fight that pits the NRA against 2nd Amendment rights, and Republican against Republican.

Perhaps we can garner the support of the so-called 'Blue-Dog' Democrats who have yet to prove they can stop the steam-roller of the ultra-liberal Democratic Congressional machine. If ever there were a time to stop them, the time is now.

Go here to the GOA website for complete information:

Gun Grabbers on the March--H.R.297

Washington, DC (TLS). No matter what the Democrats in Washington say publicly about there being no serious challenge to gun rights in the wake of the Virginia Tech massacre, it is clear that the gun-grabbers are on the march with a vengeance.

H.R. 297 has been introduced in the House--the Dingell-McCarthy bill, which if enacted will take the Brady Bill to new heights in rolling back 2nd Amendment rights.

This bill is so serious and damaging that Gun Owners of America issued a special 'GOA Alert' to notify its members of an all-out effort to get this measure defeated. GOA states that this piece of legislation, under the guise of closing the so-called 'background check loophole,' will prevent millions of honest, law-abiding Americans from buying firearms.

For example, if you are a military Veteran who has suffered at any point in the past from post-traumatic stress disorder, you will be prevented from owning a gun under the provisions of this bill.

Your country called on you to bear a gun in the defense of this nation, yet your country is getting ready to claim you are unfit to bear a gun as a civilian, if this measure is passed.

YET THE NRA IS SUPPORTING IT!

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, D-New York, has failed in getting broad support for her relentless attempts at banning weapons thus far. She attempted to get us to lower our alert level by stating publicly this week that 'this Congress is pro-gun. There will be no anti-gun legislation from this Congress.'

McCarthy lied.

No sooner had she made that statement than she had introduced H.R. 297 along with Rep. Dingell. The two apparently have now gained some allies and support from some strange bedfellows, including some top Republicans and the NRA!

This bill is a farce and should be defeated. It is nothing more than one more veiled attempt at preventing millions of ordinary citizens from gaining access to guns.

Virginia Tech History--Concealed Guns Save Lives

Blacksburg, Virginia (TLS). Before Virginia Tech enacted a ban on guns on campus, a crazed gunman was subdued by students who were carrying handguns, resulting in a minimum of loss of life. This was five years ago.

Before being subdued by gun-totin' students, the gunman had shot and killed three persons on campus and injured three others--a far cry from the 32 killed and 15 injured last week on a campus that had made sure its students were disarmed and unable to defend themselves.

This story is being retold time and again across the country in similar situations. Citizens who are allowed to carry firearms minimize the loss of life in the face of crazed murderers. Unarmed citizens are sitting ducks.

Virginia Tech made sure its students were sitting ducks through its ridiculous and totally illogical ban on guns.

GUN OWNERS OF AMERICA ISSUES ALERT!

Washington, DC (TLS). Gun Owners of America (GOA) has issued a special alert in the wake of the massacre at Virginia Tech. It seems the forces of anti-freedom have wasted no time in using this tragic situation to push their agenda of robbing the citizens of their rights.

Virginia Tech is a gun-free zone in the Commonwealth of Virginia, meaning that students, employees, and faculty are defenseless against lawless violent perpetrators, such as Cho Seung Hui. Had there been someone in that classroom building carrying a concealed handgun, dozens of lives could have been saved from the blood-bath.

But this point goes right over the heads of the gun-grabbers.

Texas to Expand Gun-Rights/Self-Defense

Washington, DC (TLS). Texas is set to expand the gun rights and self-defense rights of its citizens. With at least 100 out of 150 state house legislators and 21 out of 27 state senators backing the legislation, known as the 'stand your ground' bill, this new law is expected to gain easy passage.

Under the provisions of the 'stand your ground' bill, the law would expand the concept known as 'the Castle Doctrine'--an ancient concept of English Common Law that maintains a person has the right to use force, including deadly force, in the defense of one's home, without any risk of criminal or civil liability. The Texas bill would expand the Castle doctrine to include one's automobile and place of business.

Thus, if citizens feel that their lives are endangered while at the work place or behind the wheel, they can feel free to use deadly force with the backing of the law. And, in those cases where citizens use a firearm to defend themselves against harm, whether at home, work, or in an automobile, they are granted the protection of the law from criminal or civil litigation.

Detractors claim that Texas does not need such a law since, according to some critics, 'citizens are normally not prosecuted in Texas for matters related to self-defense anyway.'

This may be true, but the concept of an individual citizen's right to self-defense with a firearm or any other weapon must be codified into a legally binding provision that would shield citizens from any possible prosecution. The bill's critics are relying solely upon Texas culture to protect citizens in the event they use deadly force in self-defense. However, should that culture change, there are all too-many lawyers and District Attorneys who would not hesitate to make citizens liable for actions taken in self-defense. It has already happened in other states. In fact, in some states the Castle Doctrine has come near to going the way of the dinosaur, even in the protection of one's home. All too often across the United States, prosecuting attorneys have aggressively brought charges against citizens who defend themselves and their homes against criminal intrusion. Many of these citizens have also found themselves the needless victims of lawsuits brought by CRIMINALS who are injured while breaking and entering. The expansion of the Castle Doctrine in Texas is an important step in insuring that citizens feel free to protect themselves, including the use of firearms under the provisions of the Second Amendment.

As expected, the Texas 'stand your ground' legislation has critics across the nation. Never wavering from their incessant assault on the rights of individual citizens, particularly with regard to firearms, the Left Wing in this country views the proposed Texas law as the 'shoot thy neighbor' bill. The Boston Globe referred to the bill as a 'shoot first, ask questions later' approach to personal safety. Yet similar legislation across the country has gained broad support among the citizens and their legislators. 15 states have already passed similar self-defense laws since 2005, and another 6 states are considering such legislation this year.

One of the fiercest opponents to expanding self-defense laws is the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. It should be noted that the Brady Campaign has pushed Congress to pass some of the most oppressive restrictions on the rights of individuals in the history of the Republic. In the name of protecting citizens from gun violence, the Brady Campaign would prevent law-abiding citizens from using one of the most effective tools for stopping criminals--the exercise of their Second Amendment rights. In fact, the Brady bunch is on record supporting an outright ban of handguns, the preferred weapon of choice for most citizens when it comes to self-protection.

Zach Ragbourn, a spokesman for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, stated, 'Changing the law opens the door to indiscriminate killing by people who later claim they feared for their lives. You won't be thrown into jail for legitimate self-defense. Monkeying with the law can only help people who would have otherwise been punished.'

The Liberty Sphere would like to know where Mr.Ragbourn has been all of these years as government officials have aggressively prosecuted citizens who exercised self-defense. The cases are too numerous to mention. And this does not even begin to address the countless litigation brought against citizens by the perpetrators of crime. Naturally Mr. Ragbourn and the Brady bunch would like for citizens to forget this assault on their rights by rabid gun-grabbers such as those involved in the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

Apparently, the citizens and legislators in Texas and twenty other states have not forgotten. This is precisely why legislation such as the 'stand your ground' bill is gaining such widespread support. Ragbourn's contention that such legislation is not needed is ample reason to pass it. Perhaps Texans wish to nip in the bud the beast of the gun-grabbing rights-robbers before it reaches the point that citizens are placed in the precarious position of criminal and civil liability for merely using their firearms to protect their lives. In far too many states in the nation, self-defense as encapsulated in the Castle Doctrine has fallen on hard times. The Texas bill ensures this will not happen in Texas.

The Liberty Sphere believes that this bill needs to be considered by all of the states. And, if we ever oust the present Congress that is ruled by the purveyors of anti-freedom, this type of legislation should be considered as the official law of the land throughout America. This would stop once and for all the senseless, tyrannical assault on the rights of citizens, not only to keep and bear firearms, but to simple self-defense, not only at home, but in the workplace and in our autos.

As long as Democrats run Congress, such legislation, of course, will never be considered. But...we can bide our time. 2008 is on the way.
