It's Showtime, Folks! Let's Roll!

Okay, this is the day when it all happens. It's showtime! Let's roll!

The Liberty Sphere will be posting throughout the day to keep you informed on election news.

We start by saying that there is great optimism in the John McCain camp. Staffers and reporters who have covered the Senator for years say that rarely have they ever seen McCain so upbeat.

The reason? Polls in the battleground states and swing states are showing an encouraging shift toward McCain. In 7 key states McCain has pulled ahead, or even, or slightly behind within the margin of error.

And this includes Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio, and Missouri.

The most accurate poll of the 2004 election, the IBD/TIPP poll, shows undecided voters breaking toward McCain. And this poll claims that there are still roughly 9 or 10% who consider themselves undecided...more than enough votes to swing the election to McCain, erasing whatever lead Obama may have had.

It's not over, folks. Get out there and vote! Show the mainstream media, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid that there is a vast silent army of voters in the heartland of America that will not stand for an Obama Presidency!

Zogby Shock Poll--McCain Moves Ahead of Obama

Friday, October 31, 2008 may well be the day that Americans observed a major, last-minute shift in momentum during the waning days of Campaign '08.

Today at 1 PM ET, pollster John Zogby will release the results of Friday's daily tracking poll which shows that for the first time since the days just after the Republican National Convention, John McCain has moved into the lead in the race for the White House.

This poll will show a 48% to 47% lead for McCain.

But the big news behind the news is the momentum McCain seems to be picking up from independents, undecided voters, working class citizens, and younger voters, ages 25-45.

The numbers show these groups of voters breaking sharply in favor of McCain in the last few days of the campaign.

The Final Stretch

With one week to go until Election Day, John McCain and Sarah Palin, and Barack Obama and Joe Biden head down the final stretch of Campaign '08, making their case before an electorate that shows signs of being more fired up this year than any in the recent past.

No doubt the citizens are 'Bush-weary' as they were in 2001 when they were described as having a bad case of 'Clinton fatigue.'

And, with the nation's first African-American chosen as the standard-bearer of one of the 2 major political parties, and with the very first Alaskan governor and the first female to be chosen to serve on the GOP ticket, the excitement generated in this campaign has been one for the history books.

The mainstream media and the Obama campaign have all but proclaimed victory before a single vote as been counted and before most votes have even been cast.

Polls have varied widely.

But most reputable pollsters are admitting that in this final stretch, the numbers show a vastly tightening race.

Only 4 days ago Gallup showed a 7-point gap between McCain and Obama, with Obama gaining 51% support among those surveyed.

As of today, McCain has closed that gap, picking up 5 points in 4 days, and is now within 2 points of Obama--well within the poll's margin of error.

Other reputable pollsters, Rasmussen, Zogby, TIPP, and others also show tightening numbers.

The battleground states, of course, will be key to winning the White House. Polls show Obama ahead in Florida, Colorado, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, but with McCain showing signs of a last-minute surge in at least 2 of those states.

McCain is slightly ahead in Missouri and Ohio, but within the polls' margin of error.

One electoral factor to bear in mind--in the last few days of a campaign, undecided voters have a history of breaking in favor of the underdog. And McCain has been running behind during most of the Summer and Fall.

BREAKING AP POLL--IT'S TIED!

In less than 2 weeks before the Election, the Associated Press has released a brand new poll showing a very tight race between John McCain and Barack Obama.

The poll shows the 2 candidates all even with Obama getting 44% and McCain getting 43%--a statistical tie.

Events over the last 48 hours within the 2 campaigns have indicated movement showing the concern of the Obama campaign and the heightened hopes of the McCain campaign.

For example, Pennsylvania's Governor Ed Rendell has become so concerned over what he once thought was a sure bet for Obama that he has called the candidate back to the state in order to 'reassure rural Democrats.'

In other words, Rendell sees signs of trouble. Obama is losing the 'God and guns' vote in the heartland of Pennsylvania. And the foot-in-mouth nutcase, John Murtha, certainly hasn't helped as he has constantly referred to his own constituents as 'racist' and 'redneck.'

It is also interesting that both McCain and Palin have been stumping in the state heavily over the past 2 days and appear to be unusually upbeat.

Meanwhile, in Missouri, another battleground state showing Obama with a comfortable lead, internal polling data supplied by local candidates for local offices show that the major polls may have drastically underestimated the strength and preferences of Missourians who live outside the large metro areas.

Obama is viewed in those areas as pariah.

There is yet another sign of a possible Truman-like surge for McCain. Police squads all across the country have been placed on high alert in order to be prepared for a possible 'Obama loss'... meaning, of course, that should Obama lose, law enforcement officials expect violence in the streets as the thugs, goons, and moonbats go Neanderthal over their failure to steal an election.

One Bright Spot in the Polls

In the midst of all of the terrible news in most of the polls concerning the Presidential race, there is one bright spot among those polls.

Zogby/Reuters/C-SPAN report that their latest joint tracking poll shows Obama ahead of McCain by only 2 percentage points, 47-45%.

In fact, the 3 entities are claiming that the race is 'too close to call.'

One key factor in the closeness of the race, according to Zogby, is Sarah Palin's performance in her debate with Joe Biden. After Palin's stellar performance, McCain's numbers have improved significantly even in spite of the the bad economic news.

Click on the link above and read this encouraging news.

Growing Less Optimistic

As we grow ever so closer to Election Day I will have to say that I am growing less optimistic of late. My faith in the American people is at an all-time low ebb.

Barack Obama seems to be gaining in the polls although he and Joe Biden would be a trainwreck for the country.

But, of course, the way the electorate sees it, they would elect Hugo Chavez to the White House as long as he were not a Republican. But put a 'D' beside his name, and he would be a shoo-in in spite of the fact that he is a Communist thug.

The economy, of course, is the culprit. Perceptions mean everything to the electorate, and in their minds a complete novice like Obama would be better 'for the economy.' But to thinking people, such 'reasoning' simply does not compute.

This is how Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba, bringing his style of Communism with him. He made it all about 'making lives better for the average Cuban.' Never mind that he would take away all of your rights. He will give you free medical care!

Wow, he understands the common people! He understands my problems!

Democrats in this country have succeeded in convincing the electorate that Republicans are responsible for the troubles of the country, although that premise is a lie. But perceptions mean everything, remember? No matter how irrational or asinine the premise, it is all about perception in this age of dumbed-down zombies who listen to talking head teleprompter readers on evening news broadcasts.

Thus, the 'throw the bums out' mentality doesn't extend to thugs like Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Charles Rangel, or known law-breakers like William Jefferson. Their colossal failures and contributions to the problems, some of them even engaging in illegal behavior that should wind them up in prison, is of no concern to the electorate. Their number one concern is to throw out Republicans, good or bad.

So, for today, and maybe for tomorrow, I am not optimistic about the future of the country in general or the election in particular.

Time to think more seriously about the contingency plan.

Rating the Candidates on the Real Issues--9/26/08

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest and best score, here is how The Liberty Sphere rates John McCain and Barack Obama on the real issues at stake in tonight's debate--9/26/08.

Solving the present financial crisis:

McCain--10
Obama--0

Explanation--McCain's thrust is with more government accountability, reduced government spending, and therefore reduced government interference in private enterprise. Obama has sided with the Democrats in Congress, and George Bush, in spending 700 billion of taxpayers' money for a bailout of a mess created by federal government meddling in business affairs.

Size and scope of government:

McCain--10
Obama--0

Explanation--McCain wants to reign in government spending, which he describes as 'raging out of control.' This means fewer programs and smaller government. Obama has proposed 800 billion dollars' worth of new programs, requiring an unprecedented expansion of the size and scope of government.

Taxes:

McCain--10
Obama--4

Explanation--McCain has stated he wants to cut the capital gains tax which will pump billions of dollars into a slumping banking and mortgage economy. He also opposes raising taxes on small businesses. McCain supports extending the Bush tax cuts well beyond 2010 when they are set to expire. Obama, on the other hand, wants to raise taxes significantly on small businesses and their owners because his definition of 'rich' includes small business owners whose businesses make over $250,000 per year. This will hurt these people who employ 80% of American workers, forcing them out of business. Obama also opposes reducing the capital gains tax. The one bright spot in the Obama economic plan is his tax cut for 95% of Americans. For that he gets a rating of '4,' but the fact that he does not couple this with necessary spending reductions prevents his tax cuts from benefiting anyone in the long term.

Energy policy:

McCain--8
Obama--5

Explanation--McCain supports drill here, drill now on the outer continental shelf. Obama has repeatedly stated he opposes it, though he claimed tonight he is for it. McCain also supports not only more oil drilling, but development of wind, solar, nuclear, coal, hydrogen fuel cell, and natural gas--an 'all of the above' approach. Obama, on the other hand, has repeatedly nixed not only offshore oil drilling, but coal, nuclear, and natural gas, although tonight he claimed he is for all of these. We do give him points, however, on his support for wind, solar, and hydrogen fuel cell. Both McCain and Obama lose points on refusing to allow oil drilling in a very small part of ANWR.

Environmental policy:

McCain--5
Obama--0

Explanation--McCain has a penchant for siding with environmentalist extremists on issues that we find deplorable. However, his stance on this is nowhere near the dangerous and socialistic notions of Obama, who essentially has bought into the 'man is to blame for climate change, period' point of view, failing to consider natural phenomena which have nothing to do with human activity.

The War in Iraq:

McCain--10
Obama--0

Explanation--McCain supported the mission but not how it was conducted. When McCain's views on how the war should be conducted were implemented, we began to win outright in Iraq. Obama still says he would have opposed the troop surge, which is responsible for the dramatic turnaround. No one with common sense could oppose something that is helping America to win.

U.S. foreign policy:

McCain--10
Obama--0

Explanation--McCain has been to war, knows the issues involved, knows foreign leaders personally, and understands the meaning of the term 'leadership.' Obama knows nothing. He would sit down with thugs, dictators, and Commies, thus legitimizing their views on various things such as annihilating Israel, terrorism, and aggression. Frankly, I am frightened of the possibility that this nation could elect to public office a complete novice such as Obama when the world grows more dangerous by the day.

Total score on the first debate:

McCain--63 out of a possible 70
Obama--9 out of a possible 70

Notice we did not consider such peripheral issues such as 'how the candidate looked on TV,' 'did they ever stutter or stammer a bit?' or 'how often they frowned or smiled or wiped their nose,' or even worse, 'did they appear angry, frustrated, or giddy?' Hell, why not assess whether or not we think they need to go to the bathroom!

These things are petty, juvenile, and should not be part of a serious discussion.

Frankly, we hate TV debates for that very reason. They tend to lend themselves to an emphasis on ALL of the wrong things rather than the real issues--a casualty of television 'journalism.'

Second Amendment News Roundup for 9/24/08

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

From Mike McCarville:
*Bad News! Obama has opened a 9-point lead over McCain in a latest poll. It's starting to get away from us, folks. If this trainwreck gets elected, it will be the single largest political disaster since Jimmy Carter.
*'Media Campaigns Hard For Obama'--so, are we going to let talking-head teleprompter-readers determine the Presidential election?

Scott Rasmussen places the Obama lead at just 2 points, however, 49-47%, in his daily tracking poll.

Dark Blog has an interesting read on Ron Paul's endorsement of Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party.

Gateway Pundit thinks there is a catch to the fact that Congressional Democrats let expire the ban on offshore oil drilling. Maybe so. But the GOP certainly pressured them...so did the electorate.

Dr. John Lott posts 2 videos on Joe Biden's views on guns.

From Codrea's War on Guns:
*A teachers rips off a microphone from the shirt of a student while he talks to the media about the banning of his flag shirt at school.
*'Dispatches from the Front'--a communique from a pro-gun advocate in an anti-gun state.
*'Standing Up for Canadian Gun Rights'

Nicki gives a well-deserved tongue-lashing to the politicians who created the Wall Street mess and are getting ready to create another one bailing it out.

As always, Western Rifle Shooters Association has provocative reading, this one entitled, 'Post Soviet Lessons for a Post-American Century.'

Sebastian reports that the sleazy Obama campaign can't be counted on to pay its restaurant tab.

JR has a rather interesting story on one of 'Dallas' finest.'

Roberta X comments on a variety of issues, one being the financial mess on Wall Street.

Alphecca posts the MUST-read of the day on CBS propaganda concerning Obama's supposed 'trustworthiness' on the gun issue. ROFL! Give me a freakin' break. Friends, read this one if you read nothing else.

Breda follows up on the 'mainstream media for Obama' fiasco as she gives a wrap-up of last night's radio show, 'Gun Nuts--The Next Generation,' which she co-hosts with Ahab.

Traction Control says Tom Tancredo nails it with his latest comments on the U.N.

Walls of the City says he feels dirty after seeing his results on this little quiz on Barack Obama.

An Ol' Broad's Ramblings gives us an update on her recovery from surgery.

ARRA reports that despite the expiration of the ban on offshore oil drilling, the Democrats in Congress still won't allow the American people to have access to our own oil. You know, I am beginning to smell a major scandal here with regard to oil and the Democrats.

PALIN DRAWS CROWD OF 60,000 IN FLORIDA!

It was her first appearance in Florida before an audience that didn't even know her name a month ago. GOP Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin drew a crowd of over 60,000 cheering, flag-waving citizens in a community north of Orlando on Sunday.

Palin is continuing her solo-campaign tour after spending a couple of weeks appearance jointly with John McCain.

Apparently the new political sensation to hit America is making friends wherever she goes.

While throngs of people cheered and clamored to get her picture or her autograph, Palin took the opportunity in her speech before the crowd to press for major reform on Wall Street.

Obama, Media Play Up the Race Card

As it has become clear in recent weeks that Obama is losing significant support among working class white men and white women in general, the Obama camp and their compatriots in the mainstream media are playing up the race card.

One by one, the commentators, the analysts, the pundits are jumping on board the latest Obama talking points memo that there is a 'hidden racism' among many Democrats that may cost Obama the election.

And thus, the stage is being set for a possible future scenario. Should McCain win, Obama and the talking heads will claim it was all because of racism. They will claim Obama's defeat will have nothing at all to do with his extremist ideology.

I can just hear them now. 'If Obama had been a white man, he would have won handily.'

In this manner the liberals will try to totally discredit the election of John McCain and Sarah Palin to the 2 highest offices in the land.

And I suppose racism led to Obama's snatching victory from the jaws of defeat as he surprisingly robbed the supposed chosen one, Hillary Clinton, of the Democratic nomination. One year ago, my friends, everyone assumed that nothing could stop Hillary's march and that she would sail into the White House with little or no problem.

Nothing except Barack Obama. But, of course, racism was the reason Barack was able to defeat one of the most celebrated celebrities of our time, not to mention one of the most powerful women of our time, Hillary Clinton, wife of 'the first African-American President.'

If Obama loses, it will be because the American people are smarter than to allow a novice with an extremist voting record into the White House.

All of the circumstances would point in Obama's favor. He should be ahead of McCain by at least 15 percentage points at this stage, given an unpopular war, an unpopular President, and troubles in the oil and banking industries.

But he is having trouble convincing the electorate that he is honest and trustworthy, that he is reliable in a national emergency, that heaping more taxes onto an already stressed economy is going to actually help the economy, and that he has the moral and ethical authority to lead.

Thus, the man who should be leaving McCain behind in a cloud of dust is running neck-and-neck with the Arizona Senator and is losing ground bigtime in some key battleground states.

We can take some comfort in the fact that there are yet millions of voters in the 'blue states' that are rational enough to see that Barack Obama is the wrong man at the wrong time with the wrong ideas for the country.

And that has nothing to do with race.

'Believers for Barack' Signals New Religious Emphasis

Signaling that the Barack Obama campaign is kicking its religious theme into high gear, the campaign has rolled out what it calls 'Believers for Barack' merchandise that appeals to various religious groups.

The Obama campaign has already been the most overtly religious political campaign since Jimmy Carter in 1976, and with the latest emphasis it is sure to engage in the most overt mixing of politics and religion in the history of mainstream American politics.

Through the 'Believers for Barack' program, supporters can get material that emphasizes, for example, 'Catholics for Barack,' 'Jews for Barack,' and other such religious themes aimed at groups Obama needs in order to win the White House.

But why not also include some themes that are a bit closer to the truth and thrust of who Barack Obama is and what his campaign is truly about?

I have some suggestions of my own:

'Muslim Terrorists for Barack'
'United Church of Christ "God Damn America" Activists for Barack'
'Hollywood Scientologists for Barack'
'Communist Atheists for Barack'
'Chicago Mafia for Barack'
'The Snuffy Pfeger Priests for Snuffing Out Gun Store Owners for Barack'
'The Catholic Underground League for Infanticide for Barack'
'The "Guns are Immoral" Christian Society for Barack'
'The 'Progressive' Young Evangelical Heretics for Barack'
'The "Barack is Like Jesus" Community Organizers for Barack'
'The "Palin is a Governor Like Pontius Pilate" Defenders of the Obamessiah for Barack'
'The Hugo Chavez Communist Dictators' Society for Barack'
'Hamas for Barack'
'Hezbollah for Barack'
'The Anti-Capitalist Society for Barack'
'The Che Guevara Ring of Communist Mass Murderers for Barack'

And my favorite of all...

The 'People Who Don't Know a Freakin' Thing About the Constitution and Don't Want to Know' for Barack...

Dems Panic as Obama Numbers Fall in Key States

A state of panic has set in with Democratic Party operatives as recent poll numbers show that Barack Obama's figures are plunging in key states.

Further, some operatives suggest that there is a 'hidden racism' among Democrats who will publicly claim they are for Obama but intend to vote for McCain. This, according to one such operative, would make Obama's poll numbers much lower than they appear in the polls.

Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Florida, and Virginia all show that Obama's numbers have plunged over the past 2 weeks. McCain and Obama are now dead-even in those states.

In Oklahoma, however, a state where McCain has held a consistent lead, Obama's numbers have plummeted to even lower levels. McCain now holds a 2 to 1 lead over Obama in Oklahoma.

While Democratic operatives are quick to claim that 'hidden racism' among Democrats is the main reason for the plunge, it is clear that they are underestimating the impact of GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin on the campaign.

Palin's entrance into the race has energized a lackluster GOP base. The conservative base is wildly motivated to support and get out the vote for Palin-McCain. In fact, the ticket now leads in every single age-group except for 18-29 year olds.

Yet another tale-tell signal that McCain's choice of Palin is turning around the campaign, voters in the northwestern states are beginning to swing over to the McCain-Palin ticket. According to the latest polls taken over the past week, McCain has pulled even or within the margin of error of being even with Obama in Washington, Oregon, and Colorado.

All of this is excellent news in light of the fact that the mainstream media, liberal activists, and Hollywood elitists have all attempted to ruin Palin through the use of a well-orchestrated smear campaign. Charles Gibson's hit-piece with Palin this week is a perfect example.

The Gibson smear-attack interviews with Palin are also an example that the public is on to the ruse and sees the blatant bias of the mainstream media to the extent that they have simply cut them off. They are supporting Palin in even greater numbers the more negative the liberals get.

Perhaps finally decent American citizens are seeing the media sleazeballs for what they've been all along but kept carefully hidden.

Second Amendment News Roundup for 9/10/08

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

From Codrea's War on Guns:
*This is the MUST-read of the day! The MSM wants to use the force of government to weed out individual voices in the 'new media'--bloggers. Their scheme? Tax them out of existence!
*David has another MUST-read on Sarah Palin and voting one's conscience.
*This post highlights the hysterics in light of looming Congressional action to restore gun rights in the District of Columbia.
*'Breaking the Code'

Western Rifle Shooters Association posts a follow-up to yesterday's post on Sarah Palin. A personal note here: thinking people must vote their conscience. My conscience dictates a vote for Palin-McCain because I believe that Palin represents the future of conservatism and she is moving us toward more liberty. I know there are those who differ with my reasoning. But you must vote YOUR conscience, not mine.

Armed and Safe posts 'Not the Time or Place to Show Your Rights.'

JR links to an article from Xavier entitled, 'The Danger of Compliance.'

From Nicki at The Liberty Zone:
*The horrors of a government-run healthcare system are evident in this story about a woman in Great Britain who decided to take matters into her own hands to prolong her life.
*The Democrats have reached a new low in their attacks on Sarah Palin, which Nicki describes as 'beyond classless.'
*'Your Need is Not a Claim Check to My Earnings!'--priceless!

Alphecca gives us one more reason why Sarah Palin connects to the average American while the others who are running don't.

Gun Pundit comments on the absence of gay-bashing at the GOP convention. A good read!

Gun Nuts announces big changes for the radio show. Squeaks is leaving the program, and there is also a time-change beginning next Tuesday.

Squeaks posts her thoughts on leaving the Gun Nuts radio show and her pulling back on blogging. This is sad. She has always been a welcome addition to the blogosphere. I hope the hiatus won't last very long.

Sebastian has good reading entitled, 'Trickery Works.'

Uncle shows us a major slip up by Joe Biden as he was making an introduction of a man in a wheelchair. Wow, did he really say that?!

Breda has caught Barack Gun-Ban-O-Bama in a major misstep on the guns issue.

Dr. John Lott reports that Barack Obama has airdropped an army of lawyers and Democrat attack-dogs into Alaska to dig up anything that could be used to smear Sarah Palin.

Michelle Malkin reports that as Katie Couric and her ilk castigate Sarah Palin for not staying home to raise her kids, the liberal mainstream reporters flip the finger at the ignorant hayseeds of the general public who are oblivious to their own (the female reporters) neglect of their children and families. In short, it's ok for liberal Democrat women such as Couric to work and raise a family at the same time, but it's not ok for a conservative GOP woman like Palin to do so.

Walls of the City blogs today about 'Kalifornistan.' LOL! Give it a look!

The most ethical Congress ever? ROFL!!! Gateway Pundit reports that the little angel, Comisar Nancy Pelosi, refuses to remove mega-corrupt Charlie Rangle from his leadership post in the House.

The McCain Bounce

The Gallup organization is reporting that John McCain's post-convention bounce has matched Barack Obama's thus far, with McCain gaining an average of 5-6 points in the survey of registered voters.

It will be Tuesday or Wednesday, however, before the full results of the bounce will be reflected in the polls.

Gallup now shows McCain with a 3-point lead over Obama, 48-45%.

It should be noted, however, that just prior to the Republican National Convention, Gallup had registered an 8-point surge for Obama, 50-42%. When this factor is taken into account, it is clear that a dramatic shift in public opinion has occurred since the GOP convened in St. Paul, MN.

Not only have McCain-Palin totally obliterated the Obama 8-point lead, but they have surged ahead by 3 points, and Gallup believes that based upon past observable data collected over many years, the McCain campaign stands to gain even more when the post-convention polling cycle is completed Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.

Most political observers credit Sarah Palin for the dramatic turn-around in McCain support, but they also note that McCain's speech on Thursday evening, while characteristically low-keyed, reminded voters of the maturity and steady hand of the veteran Arizona Senator.

*A Rasmussen poll shows that most voters are upset with how the media has covered Sarah Palin.
*'Palin: A Stunning Star is Born'
*'Palin's Audience Almost Matches Obama's'--this is a stunning TV ratings report, given that Obama is at the top of the ticket, and Palin is NUMBER TWO on the other ticket. Yet almost as many watched her speech as Obama's. For more on this, read Atlas Shrugs' report below.

Nicki points to interesting political commentary of a different sort.

Breda has the must-read of the day, entitled, 'Hope.'

Sebastian reports the excellent news that D.C. gun sales start soon.

Say Uncle has this juicy item--a 'talking points' memo from Democrats concerning Palin.

Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs has been live-blogging all week as an official blogger of the RNC. Just click on the link and start scrolling.

Walls of the City posts a VERY interesting read on the Alaskan Independence Party.

Second Amendment News Roundup for 9/2/08

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

From Codrea's War on Guns:
*Babs is Back! Apparently this time Streisand is going to sing for Barack. Wonder if she will get a cigar out of it like she did with Bill?
*'A Brilliant Observation'
*Dissident Bloggers are in increasing danger all around the world. Here is an example.
*'Navigating the Maze' in light of the SCOTUS ruling on D.C.'s gun ban.

*'The Major Story That Never Was'
*'And Where The Hell is the Fourth Estate?'--a MUST-read!

From Mike McCarville:
*The planned schedule will resume today for the GOP convention.
*Palin is a big hit in the South.
*How is the choice of Palin playing in Oklahoma?

Sebastian has a great read on how the Left is absolutely coming unhinged over Sarah Palin.

Roberta X has info on the September Indy Blog Meet.

Alphecca points out the blatant hypocrisy of the mainstream media over its hysteria over Sarah Palin's daughter and its complete silence about Barack Obama being a bastard, literally.

West, By God has an informative read on waiting periods and C & R.

Western Rifle Shooters Association posts, 'What Is to Be done: Is It Too Late for a Political Solution?'

Gun Law News has very interesting reading on Sarah Palin.

Michelle Malkin posts a must-read entitled, 'Selective Sympathy for Moms in Public Office.'

And Malkin reports that Obama claims HIS meager experience is far superior to Palin's. ROFL!!

John Lott compares mainstream media coverage of Joe Biden with that of Sarah Palin. There are no surprises, but the shocking part is just how blatant and thorough is the bias.

Breda announces that she will be the guest on tonight's blog radio show, 'Gun Nuts--The Next Generation.' Click on the link to get the info on topic and time.

Gateway Pundit shows that the mainstream media continues with its sexist, disgusting attacks against Palin while refusing to cover the Obama-Ayers terrorist scandal.

Why Palin Is An Excellent Choice for McCain

John McCain demonstrated one of the reasons he is the best candidate among those running for President in Campaign '08--his decision-making skills are excellent.

No greater example of the wisdom of his decision-making exists than his choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin for his running mate.

Palin would make a great Vice-President and an excellent President in the event that McCain should be unable to complete his terms of office.

Contrary to the suggestion of the Obama campaign that Palin is too young and inexperienced to 'one heartbeat away from the Presidency,' Palin is infinitely more qualified for the nation's highest office than the man who will BE President if elected (Obama), in spite of the fact that he has NO foreign policy experience.

But wait. That's exactly what the Obama campaign said about Palin. But she will only be Vice-President. Obama, with dangerously little knowledge of foreign affairs, would be President.

Obama's attack dogs aside, let's jump right into enumerating the reasons Palin is such an excellent choice.

1. Gun rights activists will love her. She is pro-gun and pro-Second Amendment.

2. Evangelical Christians will love her. She is a Christian who is pro-life.

3. Reagan conservatives will love her. She stands for small government, low taxes, individual responsibility, and a strong national defense. Her record as Governor of Alaska speaks for itself on these hallmark conservative-libertarian issues.

4. Government reformers will love her. She took on the corruption in the Alaskan state government and cleaned up its act. She is not afraid to go after Republicans as well as Democrats who betray the public trust.

5. Her leadership skills are above reproach, and she has a reputation in Alaska of being a highly intelligent quick-study.

6. Palin knows how to speak well on her feet, without the teleprompter, and will be an energetic, charismatic counter-balance to McCain's more low-keyed style.

7. An excellent candidate is not always measured by years of experience. Joe Biden, for example, has 36 years in the Senate but would be a trainwreck for the country because of his leftist extremist ideology. Palin was a city council member, a Mayor, and a first-term Governor, but her views on the issues are precisely what the country needs.

8. Palin appeals to women who were snubbed by the Democrats as the Party decided to disallow Hillary Clinton's candidacy. True, pro-abortion numbskulls won't like her. But there were many Hillary supporters who were pro-life who nonetheless liked the idea of a female President.

9. Palin is a Governor and not a Senator. The country doesn't need 4 Senators running for the 2 top offices in the land. Frankly, Governors make the best Presidents. Senators rarely do. And
by the way, Palin has an 80% approval rating from the citizens of Alaska.

10. Palin is THE one, true Washington outsider. None of the others--not McCain, not Biden, and not even Obama--can claim that mantel. If Palin could take on the governmental establishment in Alaska and turn it around, making it smaller, more efficient, and less expensive, then perhaps she can make some inroads in Washington, which needs to go on an extreme reduction diet.

In short, I am sold on the woman, folks. McCain's choice is the best news we could have gotten out of this campaign.

Poll Indicates Deep Trouble for Obama

The Gallup Organization is reporting trouble for Barack Obama which is not reflected in the day-by-day. up and down fluctuations of the daily tracking poll, according to CNS News Service.

According to Gallup, Obama's support among conservative Democrats has dropped 8 points to 63%.

Another troublesome trend is the fact that among liberal and moderate Republicans, support for Obama has dropped from 10% to 7%.

These numbers are significant when one considers that fully 37% of conservative Democrats do not support their Party's nominee and that fully 93% of liberal to moderate Republicans support John McCain.

The 2 key demographic groups are rarely mentioned in news headlines, but the trends observed within those groups are significant enough to raise serious questions about Obama's electability.

And if McCain nominates a running mate that is favored by Reagan conservatives, he is assured of a near-unanimous approval among evangelical Christians and other conservatives, which, along with Obama's falling approval numbers among the groups mentioned above, will spell major trouble for the Obama campaign.

Obama--Jimmy Carter's 2nd Term

It has become very clear during Campaign '08 that Jimmy Carter's 2nd term of office will be fulfilled by Obama if he is elected.

And we all know what the electorate thought of Carter after one term. He lost to Reagan in a landslide.

But Obama's outlook on the world, politics, the military, and American free enterprise mirrors very closely that of Jimmy Carter.

The question thus becomes, why would anyone in the country wish to elect a man whose views closely mirror the failed policies of Jimmy Carter?

Perhaps the GOP could use the following mantra to taunt Obama--WWCD? 'What would Carter do?' Apparently this is the guiding influence of Barack Obama.
