Smithsonian smears Joe McCarthy in 2-hour rant

The Smithsonian Institute presented a biography on the late U.S. Sen. Joe McCarthy Friday during which it went on a two-hour rant that was obviously designed to smear the legacy of the senator.

Although the biography featured some of those who came to McCarthy's defense, such as renown author, journalist, and researcher M. Stanton Evans, the Smithsonian failed to provide any information of real substance that McCarthy advocates had to offer.

Evans wrote the definitive biography on McCarthy titled Blacklisted by History: The Untold Story of Senator Joseph McCarthy. The extensive research conducted by Evans and presented in the book showed that most of the persons McCarthy accused of either being Communists or having once been Communists were, in fact, Communists. Not only was this fact confirmed by CIA records that were eventually declassified after the Cold War but by the Russian government when the old Soviet Union disintegrated and the records of the KGB were opened for public scrutiny.

2 horrifying reasons to raise Stealth War to the next level

Excerpt:

"Let's get down to the real issue out hand. The real motivation driving these worthless totalitarian despots is that they are angry that the Internet has given citizens much more power to influence elections and public policy than during any other period in modern times. Much of that influence has placed the power of people like Durbin, Feinstein, Schumer, Pelosi, and other collectivists at great risk. This they cannot allow. So, they wish to shut it down so that only the regime's Pravda -- NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Time Magazine, and Newsweek -- have the freedom and power to influence the minds and opinions of modern Americans.

"This, to be blunt, is an act of war. When politicians claim that unalienable rights, such as free speech, free press, free religious expression, and free assembly are subjected to qualifications and special permissions, then the nation has passed from a free society to a totalitarian one. And the rulers have declared war on ordinary citizens who speak their minds. They want us silenced, for good."

The Wandering Minstrel provides some interesting pointers on how to win a debate with an anti-gunner.

Mike Vanderboegh was prompted to call our attention to a blog post from 2009 -- a warning to the government that they will get "no more free Wacos." Read it to understand.

Tam highlights a conversation with an anti-gun bigot. Interesting stuff that. Looking into the thought processes of the antis is a lesson in cobweb formation.

Kurt Hofmann declares that gun-hating and Constitution-hating just go together.

David Codrea reports the latest on the gun crimes in Mexico that tie in with the Fast and Furious scandal of the Obama administration.

Pamela Geller has the complete scoop, including the video, of a parent who was arrested for merely asking a question at a school board meeting. Welcome to the Fourth Reich. Next they will be hauling such people outside and shooting them in the head, right on the spot.

3 Boxes of BS has an important question for the gun blog community. My view is some people are making a mountain out of a molehill. If I can own a gun, and I can according to the Constitution, then I can carry it any way I wish, period. Laws that prevent open carry are tyrannical.

Borepatch notes that the latest info coming out of climate experts showing that the ice in the polar ice caps is expanding spells the end of "climate science" as we know it, which so far has been a propaganda tool to push "man made global warming."

The Miller says that the demonization of firearms continues. Read for the example.

Female and Armed asks, "Can I be armed and feminine at the same time?" But of course!

Report: most will pay dramatically higher premiums in Obamacare exchanges

In a direct contradiction to Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats, a special report issued this week indicates that most Americans will pay higher premiums in the Obamacare healthcare exchanges than they do currently in their own private plans.

When Obama rolled out the "Affordable Care Act" in 2009 just after being elected to his first term, he stated that the average American family would pay $1,500 less per year in premiums than under their current plans.

But according to a National Journal analysis of new coverage and cost data, for the vast majority of Americans healthcare premiums will be dramatically higher in the Obamacare exchanges...

The enemy of my enemy is not my...err, I mean, the friend of my friend is not my...oh, that's not it either, well heck, just read the post already!

Life can get awfully complicated, and, to be perfectly candid about it, perhaps the most complicated issue of all is relationships. Relationships can be the source of our greatest joy, or our greatest pain.

As one prominent Presbyterian pastor once told me tongue in cheek, "The ministry would be fun if it weren't for the people."

The Internet is a microcosm of off line relationships. All of the same ingredients that are present in our off line relations are also present in our online relationships. It gets complicated, especially when we see all of near pathological symptoms being played out on the computer screen that we find in real-life, off-line relationships.

You have heard the old adage, "The enemy of my enemy is not my friend," or perhaps it's corollary, "The friend of my friend is not my friend." I will qualify both. The enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend, and the friend of my friend is not necessarily my friend.

Of course we can keep going with this and say that the friend of my enemy is not necessarily my enemy, and so forth, the point being, relationships are very complicated. The person or persons who are adversaries of my enemy may be every bit as much to be suspicious of as my enemy. The fact that we oppose the same person or persons does not automatically make us allies.

In like manner, one who is a friend of a friend may not be a friend to me in spite of the fact that we have a mutual friend.

I may like someone who is an enemy of my friend for reasons that have nothing to do with the relationship between them. This does not mean I agree with them about my friend or support them in what they say about him. It only means that I can have an amicable relationship with someone who does not like my friend, provided he does not make that friendship an issue.

Similarly, I may be wary of someone who is a friend of my friend for reasons that have nothing to do with my friend. He may like my friend very much but despise me. I may in turn consider myself an adversary to him in spite of his friendship with my friend.

Why do I make such a big deal of this? For several reasons, one of which is that sometimes we must take some time to think through the dynamics of online relationships, even off line relationships, in order to attempt to understand interpersonal relationships to a greater degree.

Why bother with this? Because understanding interpersonal relationships can often lead to better relationships. Self-examination is always prudent. We may see we are wrong. Or we may see that our suspicions are correct and take prudent action to distance ourselves from certain people. And better yet, often we can see that we can be friends with a person who has family members and good friends who stand against every principle I hold dear. I may decide that I can continue to be friends with such a person for various reasons. Maybe they go to the same church I go to and thus, I have decided that they are trustworthy and that I can get along with them amicably no matter what their family or friends think about me.

At the same time, I may decide that a good friend to my good friend is someone I cannot trust. The fact that my friend trusts him has nothing to do with our friendship. He may have had a very different experience with him, while I may have had a quite negative encounter with him. I don't have to be friends with all of my friend's friends.

As I said, it's complicated. But the very fact that it IS complicated may lead to more tolerance and understanding on our part.

And don't forget that these words are as much autobiographical as they are an exhortation to you.

She accidentally told the truth about healthcare

Every now and then the truth has a way of escaping the lips of government officials and support personnel even as they feverishly try to hide it. In this case the subject was Obamacare and the accidental truth teller was a healthcare exchange specialist who is working to create the exchanges that are an integral part of the new healthcare law.

According to The Market Ticker, Cheryl Smith of Deloitte Consulting in New York stated the following on why health insurance is necessary:

"It's really to protect your assets. When you're young, you don't have assets. You don't worry about it."

Whoops...

Bias alert: CBS News sings praises of Obamacare, ignores the facts

In a blatant display of media bias, CBS News sang the praises of Obamacare on its broadcast this evening by claiming the plan will drastically lower premiums while at the same time giving participants access to the best healthcare available, such as Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.

The report failed to emphasize that the premiums will vary widely across the country and that citizens living outside of Maryland will not have access to Johns Hopkins.

Further, two major reports issued today, one by the New York Times and the other by Forbes Magazine...

Mike Vanderboegh notes there is a lot of civil disobedience going around these days. Good. The only thing needed is a lot more of it.

WRSA has more info on the ominous plan of the local, state, and federal leviathans who wish to change American communities by putting lawless punks into the mix in the nice neighborhoods. Should you be afraid? Yes, you should, within reason. Learn to sleep with your semi-automatic rifles in your hands.

Karl Denninger provides another example of why government sponsored healthcare is a pox on the country. Private surgical centers not only provide serious operations effectively, apart from government, but at only 1/5th the cost of a hospital!

Way Up North reports that winter has already hit Alaska, not only with cold temps but snow as well. Curiously, the new calculations being provided by authorities show that there is now more ice in the polar ice caps than at any point since records began to be kept. Do we need any more proof that the global warming nutcases are lying?

This kind of drama just adds to my woes and makes everything worse...so sharing it helps get it off my chest

Ok, folks, bear with me for a bit, will ya?

I need to get something off my chest that is bothering me to no end. It will help me if I can unload it. In fact, I think such a thing is therapeutic.

A week or so ago I encountered someone on Twitter that I never remember seeing before. I am aware that sometimes people go incognito and use different screen names, but this person never identified himself. Out of the blue he pops up and rakes me over the coals for using a certain hashtag that a bunch of us used to expand our follow base and to watch each other's backs in case of a Twitter attack by liberals. He stated that the main person/persons who started that hashtag group had done him wrong at some point in the past and that he would no longer consider a person a friend if they used the hashtag.

Again, he would only say he was a "friend of mine," a very VERY good friend of mine, but he would still not identify himself. I told him I could not take drastic action like that based on hearsay and that I had no way of knowing anything about the confrontations he had with them except for his word and theirs. I referred to him as "Pal" in my response because by that time I was getting rather annoyed.

He then told me off and blocked me.

Now, if you have been a conservative on Twitter for a while, you are aware that this type of drama crops up every now and then. Words are exchanged and then ppl are blocked. I have done it myself.

But in this case someone told me later that I did, in fact, know this person and that he and I had been good friends on Twitter. I also found out his name, which I will not disclose. It's not that important.

When I found out who this person was, I tried to contact him through his account, but because I had been blocked I was not allowed access, not even an email or instant message.

Now, in the past when Internet drama has reared its ugly head and I have defended myself against what I think are unfair attacks, one way or another I get the shaft. The perpetrators spread outright lies about me, or accuse me of things I did not do, and encourage others to consider me an enemy and to stop reading my articles.

This is nothing but pure unmitigated hateful and malicious character assassination.

And, with readership at Examiner plummeting the way it has, I have wondered if this person had anything to do with it. A group of scumbags at Free Republic did it to me several years ago, which also hurt my bottom line. And the things they claimed were barefaced lies. And now I am thinking the worst about this situation, that yet again another so-called "friend" tries to dictate to me how to conduct myself on Twitter, and then blocks and wreaks havoc on me when I refuse to be anybody's patsy.

At about the same time that this person blocked me, I noticed that dozens of former friends on Twitter suddenly stopped retweeting my Examiner articles. Here again, is this mere coincidence? It doesn't sound like it.

My point here I suppose is to vent. I have had a very serious bout with eye inflammation, and frankly, I don't need this kind of drama in my life. The childishness, viciousness, and outright evil desire to do me harm is just plain evil and is more appropriate for the sandbox at the playground. Mature adults don't act that way. And anyone who deliberately spreads falsehoods about someone is under the influence of evil. It is Satanic. (The people at Free Republic, are you listening here???).

I mention Free Republic because even after all of this time, some of their maliciousness is still posted on the Internet. If they were reputable and honorable, they would have taken it down and apologized and issued retractions a LONG time ago!

And anyone who calls me a "friend" but explodes into a furry over a hashtag I use is no real friend. Let me tell you folks something. I am my own man. I don't do your bidding. I am not your water boy. I am not here to serve your needs. I am no man's slave. I do my own thinking, and I make my own decisions. And if that is offensive to you, then get lost. I don't need friends like you. GOT IT?????

Geeez. Some people either need to grow up, get right with the Lord Jesus Christ, or both. Now, I have vented, and from this point forth I am done with it.
