A full 42% of Americans now say they 'strongly disapprove' of Barack Obama. This is the peak so far of public disapproval.
Those polled also say they would replace Congress entirely--by 57%.

Unconscionable
This is absolutely, positively unconscionable:
Congress is controlled by the Democrats, the very ones who have been lambasting corporate CEOs for extremely large paychecks. Yet the Congressional hypocrites give themselves a payraise right in the middle of the biggest economic meltdown since Jimmy Carter in the late 1970s.
This is unacceptable by anyone's estimation, my friends. Read the rest of the story HERE at Pax Parabellum.
The sotto voce announcement that Congress, after wagging their collective head over executive pay and perks, decided to vote itself a $2.5 million raise was a depressing portent. “With economy in shambles,” read a headline in The Hill, “Congress gets a raise.”

The Evil Triumvirate
Americans claim they want 'change' in November.
Americans also claim that the present U.S. Congress, which is headed by Democrats in both the Senate and the House, is the most unpopular in American history, with an approval rating of only 9%--20 percentage points lower than George W. Bush.
Yet Americans apparently are not only going to elect the most radical, Leftwing extremist Presidential candidate in U.S. history to the White House, but they are going to increase liberal Democratic majorities in both houses of a Congress that receives their overwhelming opposition and condemnation.
The stark inconsistency of such a position is astounding.
If we can believe the polls, Americans will wake up from their stupor with a hangover on the day after the Election and wonder what on earth they have done.
For there, lying beside them in bed will be the 'evil triumvirate' that they have just given the power to rule the country unchallenged--Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama.
These 3 will have enormous veto-proof power to do essentially anything they want no matter what the opposition--or average Americans--say.
Harry Reid is described by even members of his own Party as by far the most partisan obstructionist Senate Majority Leader the Democrats have ever had.
Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco style politics rubs multi-millions of Americans the wrong way. She has faced enormous opposition from more moderate-to-conservative Democrats in the House.
And Barack Obama is an outright Socialist, once a member of the Communist Party in Chicago.
The 3 will join forces to steamroll the Congress to enact the most sweeping leftwing, anti-Constitutional legislation in the history of the Republic.
Americans as recently as the 2006 midterm elections clearly expressed an aversion to monopolistic rule on the part of one Party in Washington.
Citizens clearly prefer a divided government so that a prudent system of checks and balances can be put into place that provides at least some roadblocks to complete domination by one group.
Yet we are led to believe by polling data that Americans are getting ready to do the exact things they claim to detest--granting unbridled power for one political Party that has presided over the most unpopular Congress in U.S. history, along with electing to the White House yet another Socialist in the tradition of Pelosi and Reid to help them continue with policies the citizens deplore.
How's that for logic?
I have trouble believing this is the 'change' most Americans are bargaining for. And I would be willing to wager it won't take long for Americans to sorely regret their decision.

Nancy's Mongrels Blame Her for U.S. Success
This was not supposed to happen. Once the Democrats took control of Congress in November of 2006, we were supposed to be out of Iraq immediately. At least this was the game-plan of the Leftwingers who put Nancy and her mongrels in charge.
Not only did this fail to happen, but Nefarious Nancy and her gang of gratuitous grubs failed to pass a single bill limiting funding for the war.
In fact, the Democratic-controlled Congress has failed to pass a single major initiative that they supposedly had a broad 'mandate' to pass.
So dismal is public support for the nation's legislative branch that even Nancy herself stated last week that she disapproves of Congress.
The mongrels, however, are presently making it clear that part of the blame rests with Pelosi herself, and they are making their complaints known. It seems the mongrels are a-snarling, and their problem is that the surge in Iraq is working. Nancy was supposed to get us out of Iraq before the U.S. had a chance to turn things around.
This was the ultimate game-plan--take advantage of U.S. losses in Iraq, bring all the troops home, and then blame Bush and the GOP for whatever aftermath occurred.
Now that the U.S. clearly has the upper hand in Iraq and Al Qaeda is on the run, the mongrels in Congress are livid that Pelosi and the Democratic Congressional leadership did not move more forcefully to get the U.S. out of Iraq while America still had a good chance to lose.
In short, these defeatist and dastardly despots wanted America to lose. To them, for us to win is a bad thing.
I see a massive anti-incumbent move on the horizon during the 2008 election cycle, and it frankly will not matter whether the candidate is Democrat or Republican. But the Dems will take the worst hit simply because they are in power and under their watch the American people overwhelmingly lost faith in their Congress...to the tune of 89% of the electorate.
Not only is Nancy taking the blame from her mongrels in Congress, but in her own state of California, more people express opposition to her leadership than those who express support, according to the latest poll.
If the liberals who populate California feel that way about her, then it is not difficult to determine how the rest of the country feels, especially in the heartland.
Pelosi is bad for America, and her mongrels are bad for America. We can only hope they will be shown the door next year.

SHOCKER! Only 3% Approve of Congress on the War
Zogby International released a new poll on August 1 which shows that public approval of Congress when it comes to handling the War in Iraq has dipped to a shocking low of 3%.
President Bush received a 24% approval rating on the War in the same poll.
Thus, the one issue that Democrats used to beat Republicans over the head in the 2006 elections has come back to haunt them. At no point during the War in Iraq was the Republican controlled Congress treated to such contempt.
This news is bound to strike fear in the hearts of the Democratic nominees for President, as well as Congressional and Senate Democrats. The Democrats were counting on the War to catapult them into the White House in 2008 and increase their slim majorities in the House and Senate.
Not so fast.
The public, according to the Zogby poll, has 21% more confidence in President Bush' handling of the War than in that of Congress.
And this is not the only bad news for the Democrats. The public overwhelmingly favors supporting our troops by keeping funding at current levels. 42% believe that Congress should continue to fully fund the War, 34% would attach requirements for gradual withdrawal to such funding, while a mere 18% support cutting all funding and bringing the troops home immediately.
The polling data comes on the heels of a series of op-eds in major newspapers last Sunday that quote vehement critics of the War as saying that there has been a distinct turn-around in the past month in Iraq and that the U.S. is certainly capable of winning outright.
These critics were considered close allies in the Democrats' fight to pull the troops out. Now that there has been a marked improvement in Iraq, many believe that the plug has just been pulled on the Democrats' 'slam-dunk' issue.
Thus, my friends, it is way too early to give up hope on the 2008 elections. Not only is there a better than 50-50 chance we will keep the White House, but our prospects for retaking control of Congress get better by the day.

NYT Report--Relations in Congress Volatile
Washington, DC (TLS). Matt Drudge has the early scoop on Friday morning's New York Times headlines concerning contentious relations in Congress.
According to a special report published in the Times, not only is public approval of Congress running at an all-time low of just 16% but personal relationships are suffering between Congressional members themselves.
The special NYT report states that Senate Republicans in particular are quite unhappy with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV. Arlen Specter in particular has complained that Reid is increasingly rude and nearly impossible to deal with.
Reid interrupted Senator Specter repeatedly during a Senate session on Thursday.
Many Senators in both Parties admit that rarely in recent history has there been such a volatile climate within the U.S. Senate.
The Liberty Sphere is not surprised at all. Look at who is in control for the explanation.

Democrats to Tax Cigar Industry Out of Business
Washington, DC (TLS). Fred Thompson likes them. So does Tom Tancredo. My grandfather loved them--he kept one in his mouth all day long and lived to be 80.
Bill Clinton smoked them. Sometimes he loved to smell them after they had been in a certain place.
This writer loves them too. But the Democrats in Congress are intent on running cigar companies out of business with a massive, unprecedented tax increase of draconian proportions.
Cigar aficionados and manufacturers were aghast upon hearing the news today that Democrats in Congress are planning on slapping a 10 DOLLAR PER CIGAR federal tax on premium stogies.
The Boston Tea Party was organized over much less of an affront to citizens that this.
For example, if a customer goes into his/her favorite cigar shop and buys three Fuentes at 3 bucks a piece, the total bill for that purchase will be at least $39.00. Nine dollars of that total will be for the cigars, and thirty dollars will be for the federal tax, and that does not even count state and local sales taxes.
Congress is justifying its robbery of the citizens by saying it will use the funds from these astronomical taxes to 'pay for child healthcare.'
To put it simply, BALDERDASH!
The proposals the Democrats have put on the table for child healthcare are simply a method for initiating socialized medicine in increments, starting with children.
And they are not just targeting the poor. They want ALL children covered by the government, regardless of need.
The Liberty Sphere has long advocated the consideration of methods to insure those who lack access to the nation's healthcare system. There are ways to accomplish this without the government taking over and dismantling American free enterprise.
We have no objection to implementing methods to cover the children of the poor. But we vehemently object to the government doing it and implementing a blanket socialized federal system that covers even those children whose parents have very good private insurance.
The Democrats hope they can pull this off by referring to the plan as a 'sin tax' to 'pay for children's healthcare.' After all, who can argue with that?
This is what they are counting on.
I don't buy it.
Their plan is a ruse to get a foot in the door of socialized medicine, using children as their first experiment. Every single one of them should be ashamed.
As for their 10-bucks-per-cigar federal tax, the outrageous, over-the-top, asinine nature of this proposal simply boggles the mind. The notion of such a thing is more evidence of the oppressive nature of Democrats with regard to taxation. They never saw a tax increase they didn't like.
And this time, apparently the bigger the increase the better.
And remember, these government thieves are planning on allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire in 2010, which will amount to the single largest tax increase in U.S. history.
Perhaps all of us cigar smokers should somehow pile up all the Democrats into a room so that we can light up and blow cigar smoke in their faces. Take that, Pelosi. Reid, here's something for your lungs!
No wonder these clowns have a national approval rating at a mere 16%.

ONLY 14% APPROVE OF CONGRESS
Washington, DC (TLS). According to the Gallup organization, never before in the history of polling data has the approval rating of Congress dipped so low. The dismal figure is a mere 14%...way below the approval rating of President Bush, which stands at about 29%.
This means that fully 86% of the American public disapproves of the manner in which the Democrat-controlled Congress is handling the affairs of the country.

Low Approval of Congress Creates Crisis of Confidence
Washington, DC (TLS). With Congress' approval rating now dipping to the lowest point in the history of the institution, one political analyst believes that this has created a dangerous 'crisis of confidence' in America--a scenario where the vast majority of Americans have totally lost confidence in their government.
