Vanderboegh to Conn. state police: 'you are not the enemy'

Several weeks ago gun rights activist and blogger Mike Vanderboegh received a hand-delivered notice from the state of Connecticut via the local sheriff's department in his county in Alabama. The notice asked that Vanderboegh call the Connecticut State Police to answer questions concerning his advocacy for gun rights and his support for civil disobedience among residents who resist the state's new draconian gun restriction laws.

In the weeks since that letter was delivered Vanderboegh has become aware that he is the subject of an investigation being conducted by the Connecticut State Police.

But the major news coming out of Connecticut goes far beyond Vanderboegh's advocacy of citizen resistance.

"Never Gonna Fall in Love Again"

Most of you who have followed popular music over the decades and are old enough to remember the 70s may remember Eric Carmen's "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again."

The song was played heavily on the radio and was a big hit for Carmen, who had several songs that made the big time such as "All By Myself."

But what most, perhaps, did not know was that the melody Carmen used for "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" was based upon the third movement from classical music composer/performer Sergei Rachmaninoff's Second Symphony. Carmen supplied the lyrics.

Rachmaninoff received wide acclaim as one of the 20th century's best composers, and he chose Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra as the vehicle by which he would introduce his music to the world. Ormandy had taken a liking to Rachmaninoff's music early on, and thus it was a natural fit for the two to work together. Ormandy would sometimes make suggestions to the composer as to how he could make his music better, more pleasing to the ear, and thus, more marketable.

Say what you will about Ormandy, but one thing that cannot be debated was his ability to market and sell music to the masses. No one, no conductor, and no orchestra even came close to rivaling the sales of the Philadelphia Orchestra during Ormandy's 44-year tenure, not even Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic nor Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic.

Ormandy knew what the average music lover wanted to hear, and even if classical music was not their cup of tea, he knew what would at least be pleasing to listen to without totally turning the listener off to classical music.

Other composers and solo performers almost universally pointed to Ormandy as the conductor they most preferred to work with. He was a gentleman, accommodating, and worked hard to make it easy for his solo guests to showcase their talent. Among these were violinists Isaac Stern and Itzhak Perlman, pianists Rudolf Serkin, Arthur Rubinstein, and Vladmir Horowitz, and many others.

As a pianist, Rachmaninoff was numbered among these as well.

The following is Rachmaninoff's Second Symphony in its entirety, filmed live and performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Much of Rachmaninoff's music is deeply emotional in nature. While this could be said about all composers, some had that something extra. And here we get to see it. Only someone like Eugene Ormandy could capture such emotion and bring it out of his orchestra.

Ormandy loved his music. And although one might say that about all musicians, not all are able to tap into their inner reserve of emotion, and if they did they somehow did not have the ability to show it. Ormandy was not only able to tap that vast inner reserve of rich emotion ranging from joy to sadness, but he did so in a way that drew his musicians in the orchestra to that place with him. It was as if he were saying, "Come with me here. Experience what this composer may have been feeling when he wrote this. And then play as you feel it."

By the way, I know that some of you who are not big fans of classical will probably fast forward through some of this. But don't miss the 3rd movement, which is the most beautiful part of the piece, the part that Eric Carmen used for his song. It is very special and ultimately emotional. And you can see it on Ormandy's face and on the faces of the musicians as they respond to him.

I also want you to see a few seconds just prior to the 3rd movement, in the break after the 2nd movement. Ormandy gives his musicians a smile and whispers the compliment "great" -- something we rarely see.

This all begins at approximately 24:15 on the video. While I would prefer you to listen all the way to the end from there, if you must cut it short, be sure to listen to the entire 3rd movement, which will take you to approximately 35:22 on the video.

Unless you are completely and hopelessly detached from your emotions, there is no way you can hear this and not be moved. Enjoy...(click on the link at the top of the vid to enlarge).

Mainstream media ignores Obamacare implosion

There is a plausible reason for Barack Obama's unilateral changes to the Obamacare law other than the obvious disdain for Constitutional law. Obamacare is imploding, and its chief architects are in panic mode. Not surprisingly, the mainstream media has ignored all of it.

When did Congress pass the 'Dictatorial Powers Act?'

The President of the United States is now operating as a dictator. Since encountering insurmountable problems with the Obamacare law, Barack Obama has been busy rewriting it in spite of the fact that he does not have the power or authority by the Constitution or any known law to do so.

Surely there must be something we missed. Was the Constitution amended to grant a president legislative authority? Is he now specifically granted the power to write laws? Did Congress pass a new law called the "Dictatorial Powers Act of 2014" whereby they share their legislative authority with the executive branch?

They must have done so...

The Gun Rights and Liberty News Roundup for 2/10/2014

Gateway Pundit posts an exclusive feature story concerning the latest facts gleaned from the Obamacare law. He says, "Democrats New Rallying Cry: Work is a Trap and We Celebrate Those Who Can Avoid It."

WRSA says it's time to call a spade a spade. Be sure to note the graphic at the top of the post. It speaks volumes and sets the tone for the links that lie below it.

Way Up North has a graphic that shows what happens to you when you try to process too much stupidity at once.

Tam shows us some odd guns she has known and loved through the years.

David Codrea reports the strange story of an anti-gun bigot who was arrested and charged with carrying a gun to a meeting at a school in New York -- which is now illegal and considered a felony. And the thing is this hypocrite was one of the very ones who helped get the new anti-gun laws passed in the state!

Mike Vanderboegh presents the case of two forgotten oldies showing that significant collectivist infiltration of the United States did, in fact, occur in the early to mid 1900s. As I have preached and preached till I am blue in the face, SEN. JOE MCCARTHY WAS RIGHT!

Kurt Hofmann shares some good news about a Texas man who used a gun to defend his home, during which a sheriff's deputy was shot and killed.

Days of our Trailers notes that the news story about the Iranian "fleet" being sent to the U.S. maritime borders contains half-truths, innuendo, and flat out falsehoods. Apparently Reuters failed to do some basic fact checking.

Alphecca reports that the vote in Colorado to repeal the magazine ban comes up TODAY.

Roberta X offers a confession. It is good for the soul. But her admission is no rarity. I used an assumed name when I first started blogging in 2006. I did it because I had some pretty overly cautious friends who said you never put your real name out on the Internet. So, I was D. Martyn Lloyd-Morgan, that is, until the Examiner insisted that its writers use their real names.

John Jacob H has a hard hitting post that manages to point to the real source of the "problem of big government." If you will look at this and read it you will discover the real problem we face. Read it only if you dare to face the truth. Sometimes the truth ain't pretty.

Nicki issues a plea for help to which all dog lovers everywhere can readily relate.

The Wandering Minstrel had surgery today. He could use our prayers.

Traction Control gives us a look at the latest additions to his inventory at his firearms dealership business. Take a look. You might find something you like.

The Smallest Minority shows us how the Feds target innocent citizens. For example, most of us are totally unaware (because we have not been told) that we commit at least three felonies a day on average. And at any moment somebody in the hoods and jackboots could decide they are going to enforce those laws, much to our shock and dismay.

Archer Garrett provides all the news you need to know as an informed citizen over at The Sentinel.

Bob Owens at Bearing Arms presents a young lady who gets at the real problem with the Second Amendment, in under 30 seconds.

Pamela Geller alerts us to the fact that a new study shows that Christians are now the world's most oppressed religious group. What did we tell you!!??

Golden Geese News announces the outrageous news that the EPA has BANNED most wood burning stoves in a corruption scheme. Next they are going after fireplaces. END THE EPA NOW!!

Stand Up America has more on the tangled web of lies that Obama and his henchmen have woven in what is beyond doubt the most corrupt administration in U.S. history.

Fireworks at Thursday Congressional hearing on IRS scandal

Fireworks were on display as Congressmen clashed at Thursday's Congressional hearing on the IRS scandal. Subcommittee Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, clashed with Democrats Steven Horsford, Matt Cartwright, and Gerald Connolly over the witnesses that were called to testify.

Jordan had called members of the Tea Party and their attorneys to appear before the committee to tell their horror stories of harassment and oppression by the IRS and other government agencies in the run-up to the 2012 midterm elections.

After 3 years, still no justice for Brian Terry

New court documents released today provide further details on the death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, who was murdered in cold blood at the Mexican border by drug cartel criminals who used guns provided to them by the U.S. government.

The death of Agent Terry in 2010 began to unravel what became known as "Operation Fast and Furious"...

International sabotage may be source of Obamacare website problems

A special report issued by U.S. intelligence agencies this week indicates that international sabotage may be the source of the Obamacare website problems that have dogged the system since its first day of operation. The agencies urged the Obama administration to check the website for malware after it was disclosed that developers from the former Soviet country of Belarus had helped produce the website.

Dana Loesch confronts ABC anchors on anti-gun hit piece

“I mean if we’re going to be afraid of things, let’s be afraid of that which actually exists in reality, not some pistol boogeyman born of a gun phobia.”

These were the words of conservative radio commentator and Fox and Blaze TV contributor Dana Loesch Friday as she took on the blatantly anti-gun anchors of ABC News.

ABC News aired a special report Friday evening called "Young Guns," which examined the issue of guns in America within the context of children who are injured or killed each year by persons with firearms. ABC anchors Diane Sawyer and David Muir presented a slanted report as is often the case with the mainstream media.

The Gun Rights and Liberty News Roundup for 1/31/2014

Mike Vanderboegh comments on the news that a federal judge, a Bush appointee, in Connecticut has ruled in favor of the state's draconian new gun control laws. More black-robed tyranny! Liberty is the loser. And the citizens are the losers.

David Codrea picks up and continues the enraging news from Connecticut and states that this is just the first in a long multi-year battle over Constitutional rights.

Kurt Hofmann says that in Illinois the anti-gun bigots are denying their attack on gun rights while at the same time working to repeal the Second Amendment to the Constitution. I'll tell you one thing, folks, if these Bolshevik bastards want a war, let them repeal it. They'll get one, right here on our own soil, and with many years' worth of costly damage.

WRSA posts a thorough essay on the current difficulties the nation faces, as noted by author Matt Bracken. A must-read.

Days of our Trailers points out a state representative in Illinois who is obviously a slithering, lying "progressive," not to mention an anti-gun bigot.

Alphecca points to a recent poll that shows more Americans now want LESS gun control, not more!

Way Up North reports the latest news on the serious situation that developed in Alaska in the Valdez area where an avalanche cut off the area from the rest of the state.

Roberta X ignored the State of the Union, as did many, but still managed to get in a zinger or two aimed at the bumbling bozo in chief.

Tam presents a little item that shows the complete lunacy of the politically correct crowd that claims that many of the ordinary, everyday terms we all use are just code words for racism and the like. Hint: she says her breakfast proves she loves Hitler. lol

Traction Control has a treasure trove of new products he added TODAY to his firearms business. Take a look.

The Wandering Minstrel posts a pic and commentary on the 686 S&W revolver.

Pamela Geller notes something refreshing and encouraging out of Hollywood for a change!

CLO says that "here are the 46 senators who voted to give your rights to the U.N."

Golden Geese News provides a must-read on the hoax of the global warming theory, and how he got caught up in it only to be shown the real truth later on. Good reading!

Brigid has a most interesting take on the seven deadly sins, along with an extended list of her own that she considers to be deadly sins. I knew I was in a heap of trouble and needed some good soul-saving when I realized I had committed all seven of the original deadly sins before I was 16.

Nikki declares that the Republicans have just insured that they will not get her vote, if they follow through with what the leadership seems hell-bent on doing. Take a look.

Stand Up America reports that its founder, respected retired Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely, has been falsely accused of secretly supporting al Qaeda and being a "Satanist." This is coming from conspiracy theorists who have an obvious malevolent agenda.

Mike McCarville informs us of the latest out of Oklahoma in the unexpected political battle shaping up for replacing U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who is resigning his seat due to health issues.

In the Middle of the Right has the must-read quote of the day.

Borepatch opines on the fact that he has something very unpleasant to do today, which he does not name, but which nonetheless I found to relevant, somehow, for us all.

Bayou Renaissance Man wonders if we have reached the tipping point. Read with the Borepatch post in mind.

Does the Republican Party have a death wish?

With Obama's approval numbers plummeting, public support for Obamacare crashing, and at least a dozen Congressional Democrats announcing in the last few days they are retiring, normally the Republican Party would be doing cartwheels with glee as this political goose with the golden egg laid one right in their laps, for free.
Rarely has any opportunity been seen in politics like the present perfect storm that is building to lay to waste Democrats. Conditions are more than ripe for a complete massacre in both the House and Senate in November, that is, except for one inexplicable factor. The Republicans looked their gift horse in the mouth and said, "No thank-you."

Nobody listening: Obama already a lame duck

With the release of the Nielson ratings today for the 2014 State of the Union Address Tuesday evening, two things have become apparent. Nobody is really listening to Barack Obama anymore. And that means that the president is already a "lame duck" with very little power at his disposal.

Gone, poof

Hi there.

I'm sure some of you thought that I had dropped off the face of the earth. Gone. Poof. But the collectivists began their dance of joy much too prematurely.

I am very much still here, just off the grid for a few days.

Glad you have hung in there with me in my absence, continuing to visit these pages.

Silicon tech expert declares Constitution is 'dead'

In response to a shocking ruling by Federal Judge Edward Korman, a veteran Silicon Valley tech expert has declared that the decision means the Constitution is dead.

At issue was an earlier decision in which a judge ruled that it is legal for the federal government to seize the possessions of citizens returning to the states from other countries without probable cause.

I'll be on the radio tonight

It has been a long time since I did a stint as a guest on a radio show. I took some time off from that nearly two years ago. At the time I was gearing up for a new venture as a co-host on broadcast radio, and I was not supposed to appear on any other radio show for several months prior to and after that venture was launched.

But shortly after launching the new show my partner became ill and took an extended leave. The show was hers, not mine, and so we went off the air.

At that time I decided I would remain mum as far as radio was concerned. I just didn't have the motivation to do it anymore when the show's star was beset with such difficulty. She is doing better now, back good as new, but not ready to do a show on her own quite yet.

But I got an invitation from some old friends over at JoAnne Moretti's Liberty Underground to be a guest on their show tonight. I will be on at roughly 8:10 p.m. ET.

I used to be on that show quite a bit several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. It will be good to talk to my old friends on that show once again, so I am looking forward to it.

I will have the complete info and link for you later in the day.

What is McCain doing meeting with 'Spooky Dude' Soros?

In a meeting that created headlines all over the world, U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., met with atheist collectivist billionaire George Soros, whom TV and radio personality Glenn Beck once dubbed as "Spooky Dude."

Soros is widely known for funding hundreds of leftist, collectivist political action organizations, including the infamous Center for American Progress, which he created specifically as a think-tank for Hillary Clinton. He has also advised Barack Obama to ignore Constitutional limits on his power in order to "rule by executive order."
