A perennial characteristic of totalitarian regimes whether they be communist, fascist, or monarchist, is the need to control information. In order for these oppressive governments to succeed they must limit the information the populace receives and manipulate data in order to spin facts to make them favorable to the regime's objectives.
Barack Obama announced yesterday that he would implement 'truth teams,' or 'squads' as some are calling them, to confront critics nationwide prior to the November Presidential election.
When George Orwell published his blockbuster novel entitled1984, he described a fictional totalitarian regime known as 'Big Brother,' which put into place the 'Ministry of Truth'--one of four central agencies of the government--in order to control the flow of information and make so-called 'corrections' to misperceptions.

Bombshell: cartel kingpins targeted by Feds were FBI informants
A bombshell revelation contained in a memo written by congressional staffers on the Fast and Furious operation indicates that the drug cartel kingpins targeted by Federal law enforcement agencies were actually FBI informants.
The revelation has far reaching implications for the government's stated motivation for implementing Fast and Furious. The Obama Administration claims that the goal was to catch Mexican drug cartel kingpins by walking U.S. guns across the border, making sure that the weapons found their way in the hands of cartel criminals.
But if such 'criminals' were FBI informants, then the entire basis for conducting the operation was bogus and doomed to failure.

A new movement has been implemented by patriotic Americans that seeks to pressure House Speaker John Boehner into action on the Fast and Furious scandal.
The growing consensus among those reporters who first broke the story of the mammoth government scandal involving the illegal walking of U.S. guns across the border to Mexican drug cartels is that the present inaction of the Issa committee investigation can be traced directly to the intervention of Speaker Boehner, despite the denials coming out of Boehner's office.

Issa backs down on Holder Fast and Furious deadline
Congressman Darrell Issa, R-California, has backed down on the deadline he issued to Attorney General Eric Holder, giving him until 5 p.m. yesterday to turn over subpoenaed documents in the Fast and Furious scandal.
The Congressman granted a Justice Department request for an extension late last evening.
But no announcement was made as to whether or not a new deadline, if any, was issued to Justice.

Will Holder comply with Issa deadline today?
The scandal surrounding Operation Fast and Furious continues to take center stage as the official deadline for turning over subpoenaed documents is today.
After a year of stonewalling by the Holder Justice Department and the refusal to turn over subpoenaed documents to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, committee chairman Darrell Issa issued Holder an ultimatum last week. Holder must turn over the documents by today, February 9, or face contempt of Congress charges.
But the question is, will Holder comply?

Diary of an ATF whistleblower
In a February exclusive special feature at Townhall Magazine, one of the original ATF whistleblowers who went public with the agency's illegal operation, Fast and Furious, presents his diary describing how Justice Department corruption led to the scandal being investigated by Congress.
Vincent Cefalu is a 30-year law enforcement veteran, 24 of which were spent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, commonly known as the ATF. Cefalu asserts that the current environment at the ATF is so corrupt that honest officers cannot act without fear of reprisal from dishonest officers and corrupt supervisors.

GOP upset--Santorum sweeps all three Tuesday contests
In a key GOP upset, former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, R-PA,has swept all three Republican contests held Tuesday, denying front-runner Mitt Romney a fourth victory.
Santorum won the Colorado and Minnesota caucuses plus the Missouri non binding primary. Romney was expected to win big in Colorado based upon his strong organization and the fact that he beat John McCain resoundingly in the state in 2008.
But Republican voters this year appear to be increasingly hesitant about Romney.

Church declares war on Obama
In an unprecedented move against a sitting President, the largest Christian denomination in America has declared war on Barack Obama due to a provision in the new healthcare law that religious groups say violates the First Amendment guarantee of freedom of religion.
The announcement came yesterday from the Catholic League.
The League, which represents the nation's 70 million Roman Catholics, declared that it would mobilize the Church to take the fight "to the streets" if necessary to stop the Obama abortion mandate that would force religious groups involved in healthcare to pay for procedures they believe are antithetical to their faith.

Behind the masks--the big money donors to Romney
Some of the most negative and brutal ads that were aired in the run up to Saturday's Nevada Republican Caucuses were those paid for by an entity known as 'Restore Our Future.' The entity ran similar ads in Florida, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Iowa prior to their primaries.
Restore Our Future is known as a 'Super PAC' and is connected to GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
When the Supreme Court ruled last year that corporations can contribute funds to political campaigns through these committees, corporations have freely and legally used Super PACs to make large donations to candidates.
But it is illegal to mask a donation by making a contribution in the name of another person.

Fox, Drudge gang up on Gingrich
On the night of the results of the Nevada Republican Caucuses last evening, Fox News and Matt Drudge appeared to deliver a double sucker-punch to Newt Gingrich, in spite of the fact that the former House Speaker came in a distant 2nd in the voting.
Mitt Romney won with 43% of the vote in a state where delegates will be awarded according to a sliding scale based upon how many votes the various Republicans candidates were able to garner.
Gingrich received 25% of the vote, Ron Paul 19%, and Rick Santorum 12%.
Romney was expected to win the state by a comfortable margin as he did during the 2008 race for the Republican nomination, which he eventually lost to John McCain.
Following the results of the vote last evening, Gingrich gave a news conference in the presence of his supporters in Nevada. This writer listened to every word of the Speaker's remarks and his subsequent question and answer session with reporters...

Sleight of hand technique on jobs statistics?
The Obama Administration released yesterday the latest jobs statistics from December. Administration officials and those in the news media touted the latest unemployment numbers as a signal that the recovery is in full swing.
But the government also released another set of statistics that appears to totally nullify the good news the Administration and the media reported, which begs the question, "Did the Administration use the magician's sleight of hand technique to hide the bad news?"
Although the Labor Department reported that 243,000 new workers were added to payrolls across the country, bringing the unemployment rate down to 8.3%, the Department also reported that a record 1.2 million Americans dropped out of the labor force in one month--the highest level in U.S. history.

Report--Boehner part of the Gunwalker cover up
Sources close to the investigation of the Fast and Furious scandal (Project Gunwalker) that has engulfed the Justice Department have disclosed to reporters that House Speaker John Boehner is part of the effort to cover up criminal activity on part of the Department of Justice.
Vanderboegh: "It is possible the fix is in" on Fast and Furious
As one of the two original reporters who first broke the Fast and Furious story in December of 2010, Mike Vanderboegh has been known to sniff out a scandal or two during his illustrious life as a former Communist turned militia man turned Constitutionalist and gun rights activist.
And now he says regarding the Fast and Furious scandal, "It is entirely possible that the fix is in."
This was Vanderboegh's reaction to the Issa committee hearings on the scandal yesterday in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Dems propose more gun control, more money for ATF
During Attorney General Eric Holder's sworn testimony before Congress today, Democrats in one accord not only defended Holder's handling of the Fast and Furious scandal but proposed more gun control and more money for the ATF as means of addressing the problem.
Holder and the Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform blasted Republicans on the committee for questioning Holder's integrity, although it has been shown that he has lied to Congress on at least two separate occasions. The Justice Department also lied to Congress.
Rather than addressing the real problem at the core of Fast and Furious--corruption within the Justice Department and the ATF in approving an operation to allow thousands of U.S. guns to walk into Mexico as a vehicle by which to call for more gun control--Democrats on the committee instead have followed the script set in 2009 by those in the Obama Administration who conceived and implemented the illegal scheme.

Conservative revolt against Mitt the RomneyCare RINO
Opinion--The term 'RINO' stands for 'Republican in Name Only.' It is somewhat of a misnomer due to the fact that whoever wants to belong to a political party can do so, regardless of whether or not they agree with the party's platform and philosophy.
No one is suggesting that Mitt Romney is not a Republican. He is. But so are Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, Lisa Murkowski, and Scott Brown, all of whom have proved by their votes that they are more in line with liberals and the ideals of the Democratic Party than with conservatives.
The reason, thus, that such persons are called RINOS is that it is a moniker that has stuck, in reference to those Republicans who can be counted on to oppose conservative principles.
Thus, Mitt is a RINO. And he pushed for and got a program in Massachusetts, 'RomneyCare,' that one and all among political insiders agree is the blueprint for ObamaCare.
But that isn't Mitt's only problem.

Issa threatens Holder with contempt
In a breaking news story reported by Fox, Congressman Darrell Issa, R-California, has threatened Attorney-General Eric Holder with contempt in the continuing investigation into the Operation Fast and Furious scandal.
Issa stated that Holder has until Feb. 9 to comply with subpoenas issued by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, instructing Holder to turn over key documents that are crucial in the investigation.

Breaking news on the Fast and Furious scandal
In the run up to Eric Holder's testimony before Congress this Thursday on the Fast and Furious scandal, a series of breaking news stories has surfaced on the flurry of activity and maneuvering of the parties involved.
First, investigative reporter Mike Vanderboegh, who first broke the Fast and Furious story in December of 2010, has uncovered a series of emails linking high level ATF officials with the most virulent anti-gun activists in the nation.

To tell the truth prior to Florida primary vote
Tomorrow Florida Republicans will go to the polls to choose the candidate they prefer to face Barack Obama in the 2012 Presidential election this November. At stake are Florida's 50 delegates to the GOP convention in the summer.
Florida's system is a winner takes all approach to appropriating delegates. Thus, whoever wins will take all 50 delegates to the convention.
Polls have shown movement in favor of Mitt Romney in recent weeks, although after the South Carolina primary Newt Gingrich emerged with a nine point lead. Gingrich's lead was erased due to a multi-million dollar deluge of negative ads by Romney, claiming that Newt "resigned from the House in disgrace due to ethics violations."
Today this writer did a special radio broadcast delineating the facts concerning the ethics complaints against Gingrich, the background of the charges, and the results of a 3 year IRS investigation into the matter.

Holder to testify this week on damaging new information
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder will testify this week before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on the scandal known as 'Operation Fast and Furious,' or 'Project Gunwalker.'
Central to committee chairman Darrell Issa's questioning of Holder will be new information in the latest Friday night document dump that shows the Attorney General knew about the illegal operation early on, including bombshell information surrounding the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in December of 2010.

Fact checking Romney's attacks on Gingrich
In a series of television ads and speeches in Florida in the run up to the state's Republican primary on Tuesday, Mitt Romney has launched a series of serious attacks against Newt Gingrich that have had a definite impact on the race. Gingrich's nine point lead has evaporated, and Romney is now in the lead by 11 percentage points, according to several polls released Friday.
Romney used the very same tactic in Iowa to obliterate Gingrich's lead.
Few, however, in the news media or among the political pundits have done any fact checking on Romney's charges against Gingrich. And when they have done so, it was only in a cursory fashion along with the excuse that campaigns always go negative on whoever is perceived to be the front runner.
But Romney's charges are very serious and they have been very effective, which begs the question, "Are they true?"
A look at two of the most serious of Romney's claims will prove to be very telling.

Friday night document dump contains damaging info on Holder
In an unannounced late Friday night document dump last evening, the Justice Department, at the direction of the White House, released 500 pages of material on the Operation Fast and Furious scandal, also known as Project Gunwalker. The documents contain information indicating that the White House is now willing to sacrifice Attorney-General Eric Holder in order to protect itself.
Until now the White House has engaged in a not so subtle effort to protect Holder, believing that if Holder is taken down, the Obama White House goes down with him. Apparently that tactic has changed.

The call for Fox to bring back Glenn Beck
According to James Simpson in an article at American Thinker yesterday, a major call has been issued for Fox News to bring back Glenn Beck. The reason is the backlash against the growing influence of global financier George Soros at the network.
Not only has Simpson issued a call for the return of Beck but an entire movement has been spurred in support of the idea of Beck's resurrection at Fox in order to provide a counter balance to the growing influence of George Soros.

Breaking--Issa's Inaction: Is the Fix In?
Earlier today is was reported that Congressman Darrell Issa had fired off a letter to Attorney-General Eric Holder demanding that the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform have access to at least 3 DOJ officials who either have been shielded from the committee or have pleaded the 5th.
Issa's committee is investigating the gargantuan scandal of 'Operation Fast and Furious' that now engulfs the Holder Justice Department and much of the Obama Administration.
However, if appearances are to be trusted, it would seem that other than Issa's letter, the response of the committee to the scandal of late has been characterized by inaction, thus begging the question, "Is the fix in?"

Breaking Fast and Furious news--Issa makes demand of Holder
Just minutes ago Congressman Darrell Issa, R-California, Chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued an announcement of a letter he has sent to Attorney-General Eric Holder demanding that he give the Committee access to Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Morrissey concerning his role in the Operation Fast and Furious scandal.
Issa is investigating the scandal in the U.S. House of Representatives. But for over a year the Attorney-General has stonewalled Issa and U.S. Senator Charles Grassley on information they have requested to advance their investigation into the scandal during which the ATF and its parent, the Department of Justice, deliberately sent thousands of U.S. guns to Mexican drug cartels in order to 'prove' that '90% of the guns used by Mexican criminals come from the United States.'

Former RNC chair implies 40% of Republicans 'stupid'
Today the former chairman of the Republican National Committee, Michael Steele, stated that the idea of a new candidate entering the race in February is 'just outright stupid.'
A new poll released today shows that a whopping 33% of likely voters want a diffferent candidate than the ones presently running for the nomination.
One of the most consistently accurate polls in the nation, Rasmussen Reports, indicated today that its latest poll taken from Jan. 23-24 shows that 34% of likely voters believe that it would be good for the Republican Party to have a new candidate.

Growing chatter on 'brokered' Republican convention
In political circles inside and outside the D.C. beltway there is growing chatter on the possibility of a 'brokered' Republican convention this summer. This reporter has mentioned over the past several months in several articles and radio interviews that such a scenario is more of a possibility this year than during any election cycle in several decades.
But according to several high-profile sources in the conservative media and among Republican Party activists there is growing talk among not only the rank-and-file members but Party leaders that there is at least a 50-50 chance of a brokered convention this year.

Rand Paul-TSA standoff: a reason to dismantle TSA?
U.S. Senator Rand Paul's current standoff with the TSA at a Nashville airport could potentially represent a perfect reason to dismantle the TSA, at least in the eyes of Americans who are concerned over the trampling on Constitutional rights by the government.
It so happens that supporters of Senator Paul's father, Republican Presidential candidate Dr. Ron Paul, are the very ones who have been calling for the dismantling of the agency in light of its year-long attack on the rights and liberties of U.S. citizens who travel through the nation's airports.
The Senator's problems began when he was told at the airport by TSA officials that there was a problem with his scan as performed by the ever-present screening machines, and that he would need a pat-down.

Shock poll: Gingrich leads Romney by 9 points in Florida
One of the most accurate public opinion polls in America,Rasmussen Reports, released a shocker this morning concerning the upcoming Florida Republican Primary on January 31. Newt Gingrich now leads Mitt Romney by 9 points.
A mere 2 weeks ago Romney had garnered a 22-point lead over Gingrich in Florida, where the former Massachusetts Governor was expected to 'walk away with a big victory' and perhaps even 'wrap up the nomination.'
But in this highly volatile election year in which Republican voters appear to be having trouble making up their minds and in which there has been much waffling and switching back and forth between candidates, nothing is set in stone. Conventional wisdom has not worked. Pundits on all of the major news networks, including Fox, have been wrong.

3 primaries, 3 winners: what it means for Romney
In the race toward the Republican Presidential nomination there now have been 3 primaries with 3 different winners. The presumed front-runner, Mitt Romney, has won only the New Hampshire primary thus far. Rick Santorum was declared the winner in Iowa after a re-tabulation of the vote. And Newt Gingrich pulled off a dramatic come-from-behind landslide victory in South Carolina yesterday.
Romney may yet add another notch to his belt in Florida on January 31. But yesterday's vote in South Carolina places the outcome in Florida in serious doubt.

South Carolina Republicans went to the polls today to choose the candidate they prefer to face Barack Obama in the general election in November. Since 1980 the Palmetto State has chosen the one that would go on become the Republican nominee in each election since Ronald Reagan's historic victory over Jimmy Carter.
Thus, the state is viewed as a bellwether for Republicans, a reliable indicator as to who will become the likely nominee.
MSM hit-piece on Gingrich backfires
With all of the major polls of likely voters today in the South Carolina Republican primary showing Newt Gingrich in the lead and increasing that lead, the politically-motivated hit-piece against the former House Speaker in the MSM (the mainstream media) has clearly backfired.
All of the major polling organizations are indicating that Gingrich's lead over Mitt Romney is ranging from 2% all the way up to 9 percentage points, depending on when the poll was taken. The most recent polls, completed last evening, show Gingrich with a major lead, indicating that the trend that began Monday night with the debate in Myrtle Beach has continued to intensify throughout the week.

Large crowd greets Ron Paul at College of Charleston
In what observers say is the biggest rally of the various campaigns involved in the South Carolina Republican Presidential primary, Ron Paul was greeted by a large, energetic crowd yesterday at an event at the College of Charleston as part of its 'Bully Pulpit' series.
The gathering was held outdoors in the Stern Student Center courtyard and consisted primarily of young adults who were wildly enthusiastic about Dr. Paul's appearance in the area.
Speaking for approximately 30 minutes, Dr. Paul presented his standard stump speech, without notes, extolling the virtues of a free society that is unhampered by the unnecessary restrictions of government.

Gingrich catapults to first place in South Carolina
After spending months far behind in 3rd or 4th place in South Carolina, Republican Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has catapulted into first place in the latest Rasmussen Poll released today, just 2 days prior to the SC Primary.
Gingrich now garners 33% support among likely Republican primary voters in the Palmetto State. Former front runner Mitt Romney has dropped to 31%. Ron Paul comes in 3rd with 15%, and Rick Santorum is last with 11%.
Today Texas Governor Rick Perry dropped out of the race.
However, an in-state poll presents a conflicting picture.

Bombshell allegations against Obama--murder, addiction, atheism?
According to a person who is described as a long-time Democratic Party operative and White House insider, a series of bombshell allegations have been made against Barack Obama revolving around possible murder, addiction, and atheism.
The allegations were made yesterday in an interview conducted by a reporter who works for a major news organization and posts interviews with the insider under the anonymous pen-name 'Ulsterman.'
Last year Ulsterman made headlines when he first began to publish the interviews with the insider, who claimed that traditional Democrats in the mold of Doug Shoen, Pat Caddell, and James Carville are alarmed over the direction Obama is taking the country and the damage he is doing to the Democratic Party.

Newt surges; Mitt blasted over gun rights
Since the Republican Presidential debate Monday night in Myrtle Beach, the political landscape in South Carolina has undergone a major shift that is moving in Newt Gingrich's favor. Newt's dazzling performance is now reflected in the polls with Rasmussen showing that he is now within 3 points of 'front-runner' Mitt Romney.
The Romney camp is fully aware of the shift against them. The campaign has launched an avalanche of negative ads, despite the candidate's personal statements in public denouncing them.
But Mitt, it seems, has his own problems brewing with a major voting block--gun rights activists, who are strong in South Carolina.

This is make or break time. And the losers could find themselves plummeting in the polls, meaning that campaign donations dry up, forcing them off the campaign trail.

Ron Paul's TV ad in SC--$1 trillion in cuts the first year
Critics of Texas Congressman and Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul have several legitimate complaints concerning his views on Iran and the bomb, Israel as an ally, and radical Islam as a threat to our very existence. But one thing upon which virtually all can agree is that when it comes to fiscal policy, economics, and the financial stability of America, Ron Paul is unsurpassed. His latest TV ad in South Carolina is a prime example.
The ad, which began running on all of the major TV stations in the state last week, describes Paul's proposal to address the debt crisis by cutting $1 trillion dollars in federal spending the first year he is in office, if elected.

Breaking--Huntsman bows out
Minutes ago a source inside the Jon Huntsman campaign told the AP and Fox News that the former Utah Governor is bowing out of the Republican Presidential primary race. A meeting is scheduled for in the morning during which Huntsman and his top aides will discuss the specifics, prior to a formal announcement.
Vanderboegh: "Black-robed scoundrels strike again" on Gunwalker scandal
In a stunning Friday afternoon ruling that allows the ATF--the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives--to continue with the scandal and its consequences surrounding the 'Project Gunwalker' scheme, a federal judge has decided to allow the bureau to proceed with its new 'long-gun' regulations, mandating firearms sales registration for anyone buying over 2 long guns in a 24 hour period in the states along the Mexican border.
Mike Vanderboegh, the reporter who first broke the Gunwalker scandal, also known as 'Operation Fast and Furious, stated in response to the ruling, "The black-robed scoundrels strike again."
