Europe's 'Wall Street' Faces Collapse

As the U.S. government continues to hide the real facts about the economy by cooking the books, European banks are indicative of the real story.

Today the head of Germany's Deutsche Bank warned of the imminent collapse of many European banks unless certain steps are taken that are reminiscent of the massive taxpayer bailout of Wall Street in 2008-2009.

According to a report in The Telegraph, Josef Ackermann of Deutsche Bank warned of the pending collapse:

"Numerous European banks would not survive having to revalue sovereign debt held on the banking book at market levels."
Mr Ackermann said market conditions were as febrile as the height of the banking crisis. "We should resign ourselves to the fact that the 'new normality' is characterised by volatility and uncertainty," he said. "All this reminds one of the autumn of 2008."
As many of us have been warning for the past 2 years, get set. This is going to get ugly. And yes, it will be much worse than 2008.

9/11--a personal memoir

(Note--due to the personal nature of this article, it will be written in the first person).
When I awoke at 5:30 AM on September 11, 2001, I was immediately struck by a most unusual feeling that I had not had in years. A certain sadness seemed to overwhelm me from deep within, but I could not tell where such a feeling was coming from nor why it would be so pervasive.
I was also struck by another unusual occurrence. An old hymn that I had not sung or seen in years came flooding into my consciousness, embedded in my mind like a CD player set on perpetual replay. I had always loved the hymn and found it extremely comforting during some of the most difficult periods of my life.
But why now? Everything seemed to be going well. I was working as a chaplain at a facility that paid me well due to my extensive training. I had started a business with a friend, and it was was also going extremely well. There was no reason for my overwhelming sadness or for the hymn of comfort that flooded my mind.
I went to work to do the early morning shift.
During the last leg of my rounds I came upon a good friend, a Baptist minister, who was having surgery that day. It was roughly 8:55 AM ET. The first thing that came out of his mouth when I walked through the door was, "Look at that!" He pointed to the television on the wall.
The television camera was focused on the World Trade Center. One of the towers had a large, gaping hole in the side with large plumes of black smoke billowing out into the sky.
I said, "What on earth happened?" He replied that they did not know as of yet, but apparently a small plane had crashed into the tower. I remember saying that a hole like that seemed to indicate more than a small plane.
We continued to watch the scene for several minutes, making small talk. And then, sometime after 9 AM, I saw the faint outline of a large jetliner flying dangerously low at a very high rate of speed. I said, "Look at that. What is that plane doing?"

Why Gunwalker scandal is infinitely worse than Iran-Contra

In response to the continually unfolding 'Project Gunwalker' scandal engulfing the Obama Administration, some progressives have tipped their hand as to how they plan to frame the 'defense' of what is perhaps the most corrupt Administration in U.S. history. They compare the scandal to 'Iran-Contra' during the waning years of the Reagan Administration, as if by doing so the main players, including Obama, will escape accountability for their actions.
But the Gunwalker scandal is infinitely worse than Iran-Contra. Why?
The motivation for Iran-Contra was admirable although the mechanism for its implementation was flawed and skirted the boundaries of the law. The motivation for the Gunwalker scandal, on the other hand, is subversive and evil--to deliberately place U.S. guns in the hands of Mexican drug cartels in order to claim that since most of the guns used by the criminals in Mexico came from the U.S., then the only remedy is draconian, sweeping new firearms control legislation and gun bans.

Vanderboegh--a new strategy needed in Gunwalker probe

One of the two reporters who originally broke the story concerning the ATF-DOJ gun smuggling scandal back in December of 2010 says that a new strategy is needed in the Gunwalker probe. 'Project Gunwalker,' or 'Operation Fast and Furious,' are the two most commonly used terms by the media to denote the scandal.
Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsy Street Irregulars, whose thorough and persistent work in investigating and reporting the claims of ATF whistleblowers led to national news reports on the scandal at CBS News, Fox News, and other mainstream outlets, states that the entire probe is in danger of passing from the scene, buried permanently under the current massive effort to cover up the actions of high level Administration officials who implemented an illegal operation resulting in guns deliberately being placed into the hands of Mexican drug cartels.
Some of those guns were recovered at the scene of the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.
According to Vanderboegh, the scope of Darrell Issa's investigation in the U.S. House of Representatives is narrow in scope due to the restrictions of his committee's purview. Further, Vanderboegh asserts that the present state of the massive cover-up has 'Clintonistas' written all over it...

Why not?

I mean, you won't find a better deal that THIS!

And besides, I am pretty good. I mean, REAL good.

Gunwalker Cover-Up--What did Barack Obama Know and When Did He Know It?

It can now be proved that the Obama White House and the Department of Justice, including the ATF, have engaged in an extensive cover-up of the Project Gunwalker scandal, also known as 'Operation Fast and Furious.' A series of internal emails and a memo disclosed by numerous sources yesterday, including CBS News and the Los Angeles Times, show beyond doubt that the Obama Administration is involved in an attempt to hide facts concerning the illegal scheme.
Thus, once again, it is time to zero-in on the issue that lies squarely at the center of what is perhaps the most serious scandal in the history of U.S. politics--what did Barack Obama know and when did he know it?
As with Watergate in 1974, it was not the break-in itself that brought down the Nixon White House. It was the cover-up. Nixon lied to the American people. Administration officials lied before Congress. The Attorney-General at the time perjured himself in sworn testimony before a Senate committee chaired by former Senator Sam Ervin, D-North Carolina.
Eric Holder, in sworn testimony before Congress, stated that he knew nothing about the illegal gunwalker operation, although former ATF Phoenix field division head Bill Newell testified that he informed the White House of the scheme in September of 2010. Further information indicates that Holder's claim, at the very least, is highly suspicious.

Good Deeds and Angels

My new devotional meditation is up at the ministry site.

Pelosi: Republicans Want to 'Destroy Government"

In an address at a Democratic fundraiser in San Francisco last month on August 21, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi stated that Republicans "want to destroy government." Further, she asked, "Do their children breathe air?"
The latter quip presumably was aimed at conservatives who have ratcheted up the heat on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) over its heavy-handed regulations that are crippling the ability of American businesses to make a profit and to create jobs.
According to a report at CNS News Service, Pelosi stated.....

South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley Blasts Obama and the NLRB over Boeing Flap

Governor Nikki Haley, R-South Carolina, came out swinging today over the Obama Administration's handling of Boeing's relocation of one of its facilities from Washington State to South Carolina. Obama and the National Labor Relations Board took Boeing to court to try to prevent the transfer, which would bring 1000 new jobs to South Carolina--a state which has suffered from a unemployment rate higher than the national average.

The dispute is about labor unions. South Carolina is a right-to-work state. Washington State's union-friendly laws have increased Boeing's cost of doing business. Boeing wishes to address the problem by moving to a state where unions haven been prevented from wielding such unbridled power.

But in this Administration that is rife with union thugs who think they control America, such a move is tantamount to heresy. And they wish to prevent a company from moving wherever it wants within the U.S.--yet another blow to business from the Marxist minions of the Obama Administration.

Haley called Obama a 'coward' over this mess. She also stated that the NLRB is 'un-American.' She is 100% correct on both counts.

BRAVO! This is exactly the type of thing more, many more, of our elected representatives are going to have to do in response to the continued tyranny of an Administration raging out of control.

All guns and politics from the best gun rights and liberty bloggers on the Internet.

From WRSA: 'Towers? What Towers?'--a look at how Obama wishes to commemorate the 9/11 attacks on the 10th anniversary of that horrifying day back in 2001.

Denninger wants to know if you are prepared. Mayhem in the streets of America is coming due to the pending economic collapse. Can you run? Can you defend yourself? Are you in shape? Most of us, I dare say, are woefully lacking in this area.

David Codrea reports that funeral services for Linda Fincher, wife of incarcerated gun-rights activist Hollis Wayne Fincher, is being held today. This is yet another very sad chapter in the life of a couple that has needlessly suffered beyond all recognition. Keep the family in your prayers.

Kurt Hofmann wonders if the gun ban nutcases will condemn Al Sharpton's 'violent rhetoric.'

John Jacob H says that the Governor of North Carolina--Bev Perdue--may have committed an impeachable offense. I think she has! And now she faces a Republican legislature.

Way Up North provides the quote of the day from Ayn Rand.

Tam passes along info on a big gun sporting event in North Carolina. A class in tactical shooting will also be offered at the event.

From Alphecca: 'Obama the job killer.'

Nicki says that Andre Carson 'show his ass' yet again on the 'Tea Party is racist' lie.

Mike McCarville reports disturbing news about conservative J.C. Watts. He is doing fundraising for one of the most ultra-liberal shills in Congress--South Carolina's James Clyburn. UGH!!

The error of comparing Gunwalker scandal to Watergate

As the gargantuan 'Gunwalker' scandal engulfing the Department of Justice and the ATF continues to grow deeper by the day, many comparisons have been made to the Watergate scandal of 1974, which brought down the Nixon Administration. While it is true that Gunwalker, or 'Operation Fast and Furious,' is also serious enough to bring down the Obama Administration, it is there that an accurate comparison ends. Gunwalker is much more sinister than Watergate, and thus, it is an error to make further comparisons.
The reason for this is clear. Watergate was about a botched break-in at the Democratic headquarters at the Watergate Hotel during the campaign of 1972--and the subsequent cover-up initiated by the Nixon White House. Gunwalker, by contrast, is about treason. In Operation Fast and Furious we are not dealing with an inconsequential group of second-rate burglars who broke into Republican headquarters to gather information that could be used in a campaign. We are dealing with a law enforcement agency of the Department of Justice that deliberately placed firearms in the hands of dangerous criminals in Mexico, who then used those guns to kill countless Americans and Mexicans.

Report: Holder plays shell game with ATF personnel

In response to ATF Director Kenneth Melson's transfer out of the agency to a demoted position in the Department of Justice, Alan Gottlieb of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) issued a statement saying that Attorney-General Eric Holder is playing a shell game with personnel and called on Holder to resign.
Gottlieb stated that by shifting Melson to a different position rather than firing him, Holder is playing a game of political charades. In an article that appeared in the Ammoland website, Gottlieb laid out in clear terms who is responsible for the Project Gunwalker fiasco (Operation Fast and Furious) and the ensuing coverup:

Brigid presents another of her masterpieces. I know this is not on topic, but she is a gun rights and liberty blogger who writes extremely well, and her stories and poetry are simply too good not to mention.

WRSA alerts us to the fact that Victor Davis Hanson has debunked the common theory that the present debt crisis is comparable to WWII and thus is no cause for alarm.

Newbius reports that Melson's replacement at the ATF is just another partisan hack.

The Suffolk County Liberty Report has a MUST-read on the systematic removal of all references to God in public discourse.

Gulag Bound presents commentary and video on the Congressional Black Caucus' declaration of war on the Tea Party.

From the Anti-Liberal Zone: 'Does Gunny Smell an Impeachment Coming?'

Patriots Duty provides essential reading as she wonders when it will be important for Americans to decide  to do something about corruption and fraud in the current Administration.

The Landmark Report prints Gabriella Hoffman's excellent article on Glenn Beck's trip to Israel and his world-wide movement to 'restore courage.'

Oleg Volk presents his latest pictorial commentary on gun rights. Take a look!

Melson ousted as ATF director

Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea reported this morning that ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson has been ousted. A confidential source told Codrea that Melson had been called to Attorney-General Eric Holder's office last Friday and that Melson's office had been cleared out over the weekend.
Following the tip given to Codrea, blogger/citizen journalist Mike Vanderboegh contacted two major network reporters who immediately began to investigate the claims of the confidential source. This prompted CBS News to issue a news report stating that sources say Melson is out at ATF, later updated.
Very shortly afterwards, Fox News issued a major news story on Melson's ouster. The reason given for Melson's 'reassignment' is the growing fury over the Project Gunwalker Scandal (Operation Fast and Furious). Melson will remain on the payroll of the Justice Department in a demoted position.

Here we go again--federal judge blocks implementation of Alabama's new anti-illegal alien law

The state of Alabama passed one of the toughest anti-illegal alien laws in the country when voters decided it was time to crack down on the manner in which illegals use a multiplicity of holes in federal enforcement to skirt around the nation's immigration laws.

But now a federal judge has blocked the implementation of the law, which was scheduled to take effect on Thursday of this week.

Here we go again. What is it about the term 'illegal' do these judges not get?

On the positive side, the judge did not suggest in her ruling that the law is unconstitutional. She said she needed more time to make a determination and will issue a full ruling on September 28.

That means that she could still decide to allow the state to proceed with its implementation of the new law.

But, given the manner in which the courts and the Obama Administration have ignored the word 'illegal' in the term 'illegal aliens,' I would not hold my breath hoping for a sane ruling on a matter that is completely out of control in this country.

The 2A Roundup--Top Ten for Monday, August 29, 2011

All guns and politics from the best gun rights and liberty bloggers on the Internet.

Kurt Hofmann examines an issue of vital importance to gun rights advocates--should gun and ammo manufacturers stay in states that continually pass laws that are against their interests and that of American gun owners? I say no. These companies should move out of the those states and set up operations in gun-friendly states. Punish them for their unconstitutional behavior by removing their jobs and taking the billions of dollars in tax revenues elsewhere. The gun industry is one of the few that is booming in this Obama Depression. Let the anti-gun states suffer for their attacks on freedom and the Constitution.

Mike Vanderboegh has an eye-opening exclusive report on the Gunwalker scandal, including info not previously reported. A MUST-read.

Way Up North posts some interesting info on jobs and the Texas-Alaska equation. Take out the two states, and the U.S. has lost multi-millions of jobs that boggle the mind. A most interesting read!

Tam comments on a rather asinine editorial in the Orlando Sentinel on Florida's new gun laws. Take a look.

Standing By says that the country is going nowhere fast, and no greater example of it exists than the Lefties who seem to be in a state of perpetual arousal over 'high speed rail.'

Around O-Town provides an updated version of the old story about the ant and the grasshopper, except this time it relates to Obama. Essential reading.

Days of our Trailers notes that Puerto Rico's VERY strict gun control laws have failed.

Alphecca points to an article claiming that 'global warming' is making people go nuts. I kid you not.

Pamela Geller says that the continual 'white-washing' of 9/11 has caused the mantra 'Never Forget' to morph into 'Forget It!' I'll tell you one thing, if the Muslim nutcases and their enablers on the American political Left expect us to 'forget it,' I can tell you what we will shove down their everlovin' throats. We will continue to beat the drum against the Islamist murders and the Marxist clowns who would just as soon everyone forget that horrible day in 2001.

Mike McCarville reports some rather strange goings on in Oklahoma with regard to 2 hush-hush fundraisers being held today for Texas Governor Rick Perry, who is running for the GOP nomination for President. Odd, to say the least.

Federal raid on Gibson Guitars--retaliatory harassment?

The Tennessee-based manufacturing company, Gibson Guitar, is one of the most well-known and reputable makers of musical instruments in the world. Gibson is known throughout the music industry as the maker of perhaps the best guitar on the planet. Singers and musicians in every imaginable musical genre rely on Gibson for quality, reliability, and a professional look and sound that very few are able to match.
However, there is another fact about Gibson that has placed the company in a state of disfavor with the current power elites in Washington.
As with many other major southern companies, Gibson is non-union. And in the current climate created by Obama, Holder, and others within the Executive Branch of government, non-union companies are viewed as the enemy. States that are 'right-to-work' are targeted.
On August 25, federal agents swooped into the Gibson Guitar factories in Memphis and Nashville like Nazi storm-troopers on a mission. The nature of the raid would lead an onlooker to think that the company had murdered hundreds and hid the bodies.
But the agents who poured into the factories, combing through every piece of 'evidence,' leaving no stone unturned, were not looking for dead bodies or illegal drug stashes. They were looking for 'proof' that Gibson had used wood from 'protected forests'--not in the U.S. but in other countries around the world.
Guitars were seized as evidence. Pallets of wood were confiscated. Computers containing electronic files were taken, all under the assumption that something in those files would indicate that Gibson had used 'protected wood from overseas' in the making of its guitars.
And which agency among Obama's storm-trooper operation descended on Gibson in such a fashion? The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
I kid you not.

ATF source: a blatant partisan act that circumvents the law and Congress

A long time street agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (the ATF), who serves as anonymous source in the ongoing investigation into the Project Gunwalker scandal, reported to blogger/citizen journalist Mike Vanderboegh yesterday that the agency's response by doubling down on the illegal activity is a blatant partisan act that circumvents the law and the will of Congress.
In the aftermath of numerous news reports both in the mainstream and alternative media concerning the illegal scheme to place guns in the hands of Mexican drug cartels--all in an attempt to produce phony statistics that would prove American guns arm the cartels and justify draconian new gun firearms legislation in the U.S.--the ATF and its oversight agency, the Department of Justice, stonewalled Congressional investigations, refusing to provide subpoenaed documents.

Right under our noses--imprisonment of innocent citizens

It has been common knowledge among the astute for several decades that the criminal justice system in the United States is corrupt. True, it is much worse almost everywhere else. But the situation in America has deteriorated to the point that true fairness and justice within the system as it now stands are rare.
In order to get a 'fair shake,' you must have a ton of money to spend on expensive lawyers. If you are not so fortunate, you are forced to rely on the dreaded 'public defender' system where incompetence is widespread and your chances of being adequately represented in court are nebulous at best.
It has also come to the attention of many justice system observers that the disturbing trend of framing innocent persons for crimes they did not commit has spiked upward in recent years. Dirty cops on the take, state's attorneys who need a reputation for 'putting away the bad guys' at any cost--whether the person is actually a 'bad guy' or not--in order to get reelected, and corrupted judges who have an agenda, are all too common.
But this is not even half of it.
Since the Presidential election of 2008, something has been happening right under the noses of Americans, with no attention, no fanfare, no publicity, and outside the realm of consciousness for most citizens. And that is the imprisonment of innocent citizens using an obscure term in the legal community known as 'Honest Services Fraud.'
The law concerning 'Honest Services Fraud' is so vague that the Department of Justice and Eric Holder's cabal of Chicago prosecutorial henchmen have used it to charge citizens with the most outlandish and unheard-of 'crimes.'

So what kind of deal did Obama-bot Warren Buffett strike with the Prez leading to a multi-billion dollar bailout of Bank of America?

The big news today is that one of the most troubled big banks in the U.S.--the failing Bank of America--was suddenly placed in the catbird seat as Obama-bot and billionaire Warren Buffett pumped billions into the organization in a gargantuan stock purchase.

Immediately the value of Bank of America's stocks soared.

So, what's behind this rather unexpected turn of events?

Well, connect the dots. Buffett is holding a major fundraiser for Obama in New York on September 30. You can be as sure as death and taxes that a multi-billionaire like Buffett does not pump multi-billions into a failing enterprise unless there is some advantage. And the double-favor he provided Obama in essentially bailing out Bank of America and holding a major fundraiser for Obama's reelection indicates that he was given assurances of something in return.

And what would that be? THIS inquiring mind wants to know.

Breaking: why did ATF hold gun trafficking summit in June 2009?

On June 30, 2009 in New Mexico, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) held a national summit on violent crime and gun trafficking. At that summit were some of the most powerful officials within the Obama Administration--including Deputy Attorney-General David Ogden, Assistant Attorney-General Lanny Breuer, ATF Acting Director Kenneth Melson, and Assistant Secretary John Morton of ICE.
Also present at the summit were a few lesser-known figures that later became central to the explosive ATF-DOJ Gun Smuggling Scandal known as 'Project Gunwalker'--such as Phoenix ATF Field Division Special Agent in Charge, Bill Newell.
But why was this summit held? What was its significance? And why was it held a mere 5 months into the Obama Presidency?

Part 2--digging deeper into the Holder law firm

And now we have even more.
Meet David Remes. Remes was a partner with Eric Holder at Covington & Burling. Some have referred to Remes as 'the original underpants terrorist' due to his now-infamous stunt to call attention to the cause of Yemen terrorists by dropping his pants at a news conference.
Remes had wished to 'demonstrate the treatment of terrorist detainees' held by the U.S. military. Thus, during a news conference while on a trip to Yemen, he dropped his pants revealing his underwear in order to display one of the interrogation techniques at Guantanamo Bay during which detainees were made to be questioned in their shorts.
One source who goes under the name 'Spongedocks' reported this about Remes and Holder...

Digging deeper into Holder law firm cronyism

In a previous article published on August 11, 2011, Conservative Examiner reported that cronyism had been uncovered involving Attorney-General Eric Holder and the law firm at which he had been a partner prior to joining the Obama Administration--Covington & Burling.
The connection was key to gaining a deeper understanding of the long-standing relationships between some of the key players in the still-developing scandal called 'Project Gunwalker'--an illegal scheme implemented by Holder's Justice Department and its bureau, the ATF, to place U.S. guns into the hands of Mexican criminals in order to 'prove' that American guns are arming the drug cartels.
It was discovered that the one common denominator among the top, central figures in the DOJ-ATF scandal and cover-up is the law firm Covington & Burling. And it was stated in the article that the firm's activities warranted further scrutiny.
Digging deeper into Covington & Burling has revealed a pattern of activity that at the very least should raise some eyebrows.

Update--Changes to My New Radio Gig--Note New Time and Start Date

I will be starting my gig as a contributor to the weekly radio show 'A Voice for Freedom' on September 3 rather than this coming Sunday as I had originally reported. The reason for the delay is that this week's show will feature Florida Governor Rick Scott, and it will be jam-packed.

'A Voice for Freedom' will also move from Sunday to Saturday beginning THIS WEEK. This is a much better time slot.

So join us on WHFT-AM 1390 Radio in Avon Park-Orlando, Florida each Saturday morning at 11 AM.

Beginning on Sept. 3, I will be doing a segment on the top political news stories of the week. I am really excited about this opportunity, and there are plans in the works to expand the show to other stations.

Here is the webpage announcement for this week's show featuring Governor Scott: A Voice for Freedom.

For those who do not live in the Avon Park-Orlando area, you can listen through the Internet via Livestream.

Warning from the man who predicted the 2008 crash

In 2007--over a year prior to the economic crash of 2008--a few lone voices within the financial sector warned of a coming calamity. Their voices were drowned out by more powerful persons who insisted that all was well. They were dismissed as 'alarmists.' Most ignored them altogether.
One of those 'alarmists' who correctly predicted the collapse of 2008 has issued another warning. The U.S., he says, is in worse shape than in 2008 just prior to the economic emergency leading to the Wall Street bailout. He predicts another financial catastrophe and asserts that this time there will be no money to bail out anything or anybody.
And this time, pensions, annuities and insurance, bank accounts, and government entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare will all be the tragic fatalities of the frantic attempts of the Obama Administration to cover up the current depression. The driving force behind all of this is the mountain of debt that the Administration steadfastly refuses to address with spending cuts.

Mike Vanderboegh has done us all a great service in providing all of the video clips from Sean Hannity's special hour-long report last week on the Gunwalker scandal. The report was thorough and in-depth. Don't pass this up.

David Codrea reports that a 'subsidized' reporter provides fraudulent accounting in his estimates of the costs of 'gun crime.'

Kurt Hofmann provides breaking news out of St. Louis indicating that an attorney has launched a crusade against the Constitutional right of 'open carry.'

WRSA has explosive news out of China that holds potentially ominous consequences for the U.S. A Chinese think-tank claims it has evidence that the U.S. government is using fraudulent accounting concerning its actual debt and that default is definitely on the way.

Way Up North posts a video from a trip to the firing range.

Standing By comments on the notion of the 'morality' of gun control. A must-read.

John Jacob H posts an important video and points to a comparison between the London riots and Detroit.

Nicki blogs on Ken Vaughn's views on the Second Amendment. Vaughn is running for Congress in Virginia. Would that ALL of our elected reps adhere to such views!

Around O-Town says he has made 'the Black List'--a list of top gun bloggers. Somehow The Liberty Sphere never makes it to any of these lists, which is fine with me. I am not everybody's cup of tea, and I have reached the stage in life where I don't give a damn. lol

The Ol' Broad has a couple of political cartoons I thought you should see for a good chuckle.
