Latest target: free speech and alternative media

The latest target of collectivists/progressives in the federal government is free speech and the alternative media. The objective is to hamstring both and for the most part silence them.

When the Obama administration came to power in 2008, along with Democratic supermajorities in both the House and the Senate, not only did conservatives warn of fundamental change that would take aim at the liberties of the people in general, but it was clear that some of the specific targets would be free speech and alternative news agencies.

Ultimatum issued to Republicans on Obamacare

What is the issue around which most conservatives are united this Fall?

The short answer is Obamacare. For sure, there are other important issues such as stopping the onslaught of illegal aliens into the country. But Obamacare tops it.

The longer answer is that conservatives demand that Republicans in Congress defund it, or else.

Yes, it is an ultimatum. Yes, the issue is just that volatile...

The mood of America foreshadows major changes ahead

What is the mood of America at this point in time?

If one were to take the collective pulse of the country as a whole one would find a combination of anger, despair, weariness, and hope. Very few, if any, are content. Nor are they happy with the direction of the nation.

In overwhelming numbers Americans oppose Barack Obama's proposed plan for a military strike against Syria. This opposition is across the board. It includes Democrats as well as Republicans and Libertarians.

I will not forget

In the immediate aftermath of the terrorist attacks on America on Sept. 11, 2011, I made a solemn promise to myself and God that I would never forget what happened on that fateful day. I promised that I would remember those who lost their lives in the Twin Towers and in the Pentagon, and those who were aboard the four planes that were involved. And I promised that I would never forget who did it.

This promise I have kept.

Many of the people that I count as friends and acquaintances, including myself, lost someone we knew in the attacks. One friend knew several persons who worked in businesses that had offices in the Twin Towers. Another knew someone who worked at the Pentagon.

As for me, an old family friend that my Mother knew very well was killed, she and her husband, when one of the planes crashed into the World Trade Center. I did not know her that well. She had married and moved away when I was a young boy. But because she was a close friend of my Mother's, well, her death was a blow to me.

The Framers of the U.S. Constitution specified only one function of government outside the president, the Congress, and the Supreme Court. Only the provision mandating the national defense is specified in the Constitution. Everything else is illegitimate when it comes to the role of government. Government provides for our defense in a world that is fraught with danger and madmen who are intent on doing us harm. But beyond that, the Framers left everything else to the individual, and to state and local governments.

We must keep the national defense strong and effective even if we small government types insist on getting rid of most everything else. We owe it to those who have lost their lives in senseless attacks, and to those who put their lives on the line to protect the people from such barbarism.

No, we will not forget. Never. To do so would be slap in the face to the victims, including those who lost their lives and those who survived, and their families.

Coloradans prove the meme 'a citizen cannot change anything' is 100% wrong!

Just a quick note to congratulate the great citizens of Colorado in their successful endeavor to oust two state legislators over their votes to restrict gun rights.

Who said that a citizen cannot change anything with regard to the tyranny and oppression of elitist, arrogant members of the political ruling class?

The president of the state senate, Sen. Morse, was ousted. And the female legislator who made snide remarks about her constituents who support gun rights also was flushed down the political toilet.

But note that neither political Party initiated this. The citizens at the grassroots did so. Democrats and Republicans, plus Libertarians, found common ground, and joined together to do the right thing and to protect the God-given rights of the citizens of Colorado.

And so, my friends, it can be done. Never forget that.

I'm not gonna write for nothing

To those who faithfully read my daily articles at the Examiner, let me say once again that you are appreciated much more than you will ever know. Do not assume that I am talking about you in this post.

Readership has dropped off to the level that I am becoming convinced that it is not worth all the time and effort I spend writing those articles, only to be read by 400 people. I made 2 bucks yesterday.

At one time I had a regular readership of over 2000 per day. Where did they go? And when I first started at Examiner in 2009, one of my articles was so popular that I made several hundred dollars on it alone, in one day...and it continued to earn me hundreds of dollars after the day it was published during that month. Those days seem to be long gone.

Now, I am not going to stop writing. I started this blog, The Liberty Sphere, with nothing, and I will continue with nothing if I have to. But, I am a professional writer, trained in the field and with a university degree to prove it. I am not going to give away my talents for free. If I can't get more than a few hundred readers at Examiner, then I will just stop writing for them.

Right now I am really too upset to make a final decision, but this is what is going through my mind. If things don't change AND SOON, then I am gone.

I thought that those of you who actually care would want to know.
