Obama had plenty of time to save Benghazi lives

On Friday the Examiner reported that Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey testified to Congress that President Obama was essentially AWOL during most of the seven-hour siege of the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, which resulted in the death of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

Panetta testified that as soon as he became aware of the attack he notified the president. The two spoke for 30 minutes. But that would be the only conversation the secretary of defense would have with the president of the United States concerning a high level alert that the life of an American ambassador was in mortal danger.

But another troubling fact has resurfaced from last year which raises even more questions concerning what, exactly, happened on that horrific night...

Dereliction of duty: Obama AWOL during Benghazi massacre

Although it has escaped the attention of most in the mainstream media, a bombshell was dropped during a Senate hearing Thursday during which U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and the Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Martin Dempsey testified before Congress that President Obama did not monitor the continually breaking developments in the Benghazi massacre, nor was he present at all as the events unfolded.

Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, along with three other American diplomats were murdered by terrorists who stormed a consulate compound in Benghazi, Libya on Sept. 11, 2012.

Panetta and Dempsey further testified that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was also AWOL during the massacre.

Days of our Trailers notes that Chicago police are so swamped with all of the killings that they have now told citizens -- UNARMED citizens I might add -- not to call the police unless it is absolutely necessary. What a bunch of imbeciles. This is all the more reason for the citizens to be armed!

Every Blade of Grass shows us the difference between an "assault boot" and a regular boot. Soooo, we must need boot control. Yeah, especially strict control of the JACK-boots!

Armed citizens force officials to back down

A group of 160 citizens, many if not most of whom were armed, confronted city officials Tuesday who had attempted to have a wounded Army veteran kicked out of a meeting due to the fact that he carried a gun. The veteran has a state license for concealed carry, which means that he was carrying the gun to the meeting within the boundaries of the law.

Congressman: If the president can kill Americans overseas...

A U.S. Congressman, who served as a state prosecuting attorney and an attorney in the Department of Justice (DOJ), asked Tuesday, "If the president can kill Americans suspected of terror overseas, what is to prevent him from killing such Americans on our own soil?"

U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., told Greta Van Susteren of Fox News that under the new rules the Obama administration uses in its attempt to fight terror, the only process of making a determination as to whether or not an American citizen is a terrorist is an opinion issued by an unnamed official within the DOJ.

Gowdy noted that liberals, including Barack Obama, pitched a fit over the use of waterboarding in dealing with terrorists during the Bush administration...

Power to kill citizens leads to Senate threat over Obama appointees

Senators in both Parties today issued a threat in an official letter to President Obama to torpedo the president's appointees over the administration's contention that the government has the power and authority to kill citizens on our own soil and abroad, particularly with drones.

At issue is a statement released by the Justice Department Monday stating that it has received "secret legal opinions" that justify its belief that the government can kill citizens with drones in the ongoing war on terror. The statement was released in the context of the fight against al Qaeda and Americans who may side with terrorists.

But government watchdogs say that the entire notion of the power to kill U.S. citizens by their own government is cast so broadly by this administration that it would be easy to stray into illegal areas, such as killing passionate and vocal dissenters and opponents of the administration here at home. And the senators expressed deep concern that the supposed legal basis for this policy is being kept secret by the administration...

Mental health angle in gun control leads to slippery slope

As power hungry control freaks, the progressives/liberals who propose so-called gun safety measures have gone far beyond the attempt to ban certain guns, limit ammunition, and create a national registry of gun owners. The mental health angle has also risen to the surface as a key issue under the broader umbrella of gun control.

But the manner in which President Obama, Democrats in Congress, and other gun ban proponents approach the issue of mental health lead to a slippery slope that could result in millions of law-abiding, healthy citizens being prohibited from owning a firearm.

Mental health is a legitimate issue in the current national frenzy over violence in the streets of America's largest cities. Every mass shooting...

Move to ban private gun sales appears doomed

In the current push to use the Newtown, Conn. school shooting as an excuse to enact draconian gun bans, gun and ammunition control, registration and universal background checks, gun control advocates have engaged in a series of missteps and overreach that have hurt their chances of getting any new national legislation.

Private gun sales is perhaps the most important of the issues that gun control proponents have boggled. Americans cherish their freedom to buy and sell goods freely. They can become quite snippety about being told they cannot sell a gun privately to a friend, or to a relative, or transfer the gun to a son or daughter.

Yet early on in the raging debate, it appeared that a few Republicans and the NRA would give up on private gun sales as a means of compromise...
