CLEMSON RETAINS S.C. BRAGGING RIGHTS

The Clemson Tigers have defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks by a score of 31-14, thus retaining for the Tigers the bragging rights in the state for another year.

Clemson's win puts them at 7-5 on the season...not a bad record given that the Tigers came close to falling apart mid-season with the abrupt departure of Coach Tommy Bowden.

But Dabo Swinney proved that his emotional, motivational style of coaching could save the day for Clemson and perhaps earn for him the permanent spot of Head Coach.

For South Carolina, the Gamecocks finish with a 7-5 record--not bad but far below the expectations Steve Spurrier had set for his team.

Next year Spurrier will have a team fully staffed with his own recruits. We will see if Spurrier's picks will give the Gamecocks a boost to reflect some of Spurrier's glory days of the past.

Both South Carolina and Clemson are bowl eligible and both will surely be invited to participate in the bowl games later in the year.

All in all, the season was pretty good for both Clemson and South Carolina.
