On This Day...

Today we remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country--the men and woman of the armed forces who died so that we could maintain liberty.

May we never allow political or social forces, or ideologies, to degrade, demean, or minimize the tremendous sacrifice of these brave men and women--and their families.

To cut and run before the job is done in any military endeavor is to render those sacrifices meaningless. If the country ceases to support the mission that sent these soldiers to their deaths, both in the past and at present, then they will have died in vain.

If the country embraces programs, concepts, or ideologies that limit human liberty, then these soldiers will have died in vain.

President George W. Bush has issued a proclamation calling for all American citizens to pause in a moment of silence at 3 PM today, in order to remember and give thanks for the sacrifices of our men and women of valor who have died in service to their country.

May their memory never fade from our minds, and may their mission to fight for, serve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States become the mission of us all.
