Chuck Hagel, Republican Turncoat

Washington, DC (TLS). The Liberty Sphere's policy is to shine the spotlight on the nation's lawmakers who are so outrageously out of the mainstream that they deserve intense scrutiny. This includes Republicans as well as Democrats. The Liberty Sphere has not hesitated to take to task President Bush and Congressional Republicans when they support measures we abhor.

We can now add Senator Chuck Hagel, R-NE, to the list of 'Republican turncoats.' Hagel has joined Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid in their 'let's see America defeated' campaign. In fact, the rhetoric Hagel has been using of late to denounce the buildup of troops in Iraq makes one wonder if he has been paid off by George Soro's Moveon.org, or perhaps Michael Moore has agreed to make a film about the Nebraska Senator. These, of course, are tongue-in-cheek charges used to make a point--Hagel has cast his lot with the extremist anti-war, anti-American, defeatist leftwing nutcases who have no plan for victory in Iraq.

At present Hagel is the darling of ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN as they proudly proclaim 'broad bipartisan criticism of the President's plan to send in more troops,' although Hagel is the ONLY Republican mentioned who has joined the President's detractors. His vehement denunciation of the Bush policy in Iraq makes him a maverick who aids and abets those who wish to see America humiliated.

This is not all. Gun Owners of America has given Hagel an anemic rating of 'C' on gun rights issues--better than most Democrats but not nearly good enough for most of us who value our Constitutional rights.

If Mr. Hagel continues with his present course, he will most definitely be a target for defeat the next time he comes up for re-election.
