Voters Say Being 'Like Reagan' Is Most Positive Thing One Can Say About a Candidate

Scott Rasmussen does polls on just about every question of consequence imaginable. In one of his latest polls he asked a sampling of voters what is the most positive thing that could be said about a political candidate.

By far the voters stated that being 'like Reagan' is the most positive quality one could ask for in a candidate.

But some of the other terms we normally use to describe politicians have taken on a clearly negative connotation:

"Progressive” is becoming more of a dirty word, but all political labels – except “being like Ronald Reagan” - are falling into disfavor with many U.S. voters, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

“Liberal” is still the worst and remains the only political description that is viewed more negatively than positively. Being like Reagan is still the most positive thing you can say about a candidate.

Thus, liberals and progressives are viewed negatively while Reagan is viewed positively. Read the entire poll at Rasmussen Reports.

Today's Polls

Scott Rasmussen, pollster extraordinaire, has all of the latest.

Some of the more interesting info--

50% of American now disapprove of Obama's job performance while 49% approve. 56% of Americans disapprove of the Obama-Democrat healthcare proposals--that number has risen in the last week.

O's Poll Numbers Drop Like a Lead Balloon

Today we received the news that 41% (a full forty-one percent) of Americans strongly disapprove of Barack Obama's job performance.

Only 32% strongly approve.

In addition, 54% say they had rather have no change in healthcare at all than to approve the healthcare plan promoted by Congress and Obama.

All of the details can be found at Rasmussen Reports.

By the way, it is interesting to note that in just 6 months of office, Obama's job approval rating has dropped 20 percentage points--the worst of any President in 60 years.

'O' Tries to Sell It, but the Public Ain't Buying It!

In what was obviously a staged 'townhall meeting' with an audience carefully chosen by Obama-thugs, 'O' tried to sell the public his snake oil cure for the healthcare system.

But the public ain't buyin' it.

The numbers tell the story, and I have them at Columbia Conservative Examiner.

Obama has no political capital left to get his agenda approved, unless he rams it down our throats whether we like it or not!

The Final Stretch

With one week to go until Election Day, John McCain and Sarah Palin, and Barack Obama and Joe Biden head down the final stretch of Campaign '08, making their case before an electorate that shows signs of being more fired up this year than any in the recent past.

No doubt the citizens are 'Bush-weary' as they were in 2001 when they were described as having a bad case of 'Clinton fatigue.'

And, with the nation's first African-American chosen as the standard-bearer of one of the 2 major political parties, and with the very first Alaskan governor and the first female to be chosen to serve on the GOP ticket, the excitement generated in this campaign has been one for the history books.

The mainstream media and the Obama campaign have all but proclaimed victory before a single vote as been counted and before most votes have even been cast.

Polls have varied widely.

But most reputable pollsters are admitting that in this final stretch, the numbers show a vastly tightening race.

Only 4 days ago Gallup showed a 7-point gap between McCain and Obama, with Obama gaining 51% support among those surveyed.

As of today, McCain has closed that gap, picking up 5 points in 4 days, and is now within 2 points of Obama--well within the poll's margin of error.

Other reputable pollsters, Rasmussen, Zogby, TIPP, and others also show tightening numbers.

The battleground states, of course, will be key to winning the White House. Polls show Obama ahead in Florida, Colorado, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, but with McCain showing signs of a last-minute surge in at least 2 of those states.

McCain is slightly ahead in Missouri and Ohio, but within the polls' margin of error.

One electoral factor to bear in mind--in the last few days of a campaign, undecided voters have a history of breaking in favor of the underdog. And McCain has been running behind during most of the Summer and Fall.

Why Most Polls Can't Be Trusted

CBS News-New York Times, in a poll released on Tuesday, shows Barack Obama headed for a landslide victory against John McCain, 53-39%. Other polls have shown an Obama lead by anywhere from 9-11 percentage points.

While this is certainly cause for alarm, can these polls be trusted, when other polls show a much closer race?

According to a poll observer in National Review, a closer look at what's beneath the surface presents a very different picture than what is reported by the organizations that conduct the polls.

Second Amendment News Roundup for 10/8/08

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

Scott Rasmussen posts his daily tracking poll, and the news is not good as Obama continues to benefit from bad economic news. Folks, we are losing this thing big time. It is getting away from us, no doubt about it.

Pamela Geller has an in-depth report (be sure to click on all the links) on the investigation into voter fraud at ACORN--the ultra-leftwing organization connected to Barack Obama. Read it all.

Dr. John Lott has the scoop on voter fraud in Ohio...a MUST-read!

Lou Dobbs highlights further voting fraud in Ohio, where their early voting program allows people to go from county to county to register and vote on the same day, numerous times...and there is no way for election officials to make sure these folk vote only once.

Gateway Pundit has the explosive news Obama was a member of the National SOCIALIST Party during the 1990s!

Michelle Malkin reports the latest on the Palin email hacking case, including details of an indictment and a continuing investigation.

National Review published an excellent article by Michelle Malkin entitled, 'Thug Thizzle to Election Day.'

From David Codrea's War on Guns:
*A settlement has been reached concerning those who had their guns confiscated during the martial law debacle in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
*'Home Defense Animation'--be sure to see this!
*David posts a letter from Mike Vanderboegh in response to a guy who has proclaimed the death of conservatism and free markets.

Alphecca echoes my sentiments that it appears McCain is going to lose bigtime. And I am simply sick to my stomach about what my fellow citizens are apparently getting ready to do to my country. But I won't be voting for a 3rd party or anything. I love Sarah Palin too much to do that.

In case you missed it, AHAB posted the audio from last night's radio show, 'Gun Nuts,' hosted by Breda and Ahab.

Sebastian notes that a group of educators are passing around a petition in support of terrorist Bill Ayers. Sickening. They are flat-out Marxists who have no business in the classroom!

Nicki gives her take on last night's debate. And yes, it was pretty pathetic.

Traction Control says that the Obama thing now claims he didn't know anything about Bill Ayers background. Yeah, right. He stomped on the American flag, had his picture taken while doing it, which was widely published, and his 'education program' trains kids to become leftwing radicals. Give me a freakin' break. What a liar.

Western Rifle Shooters Association has the MUST-read of the day, entitled, "Welcome to Camp Obama." Folks, we are in for terribly dark days, I'm afraid.

ARRA News Service has a great article on Sarah Palin and what she has done for the conservative base.

Notoriously Conservative blogs on 'Campaign Promises and the Costs of Obama.'

From the American Thinker: 'What If Obama Doesn't Have America's Best Interests at Heart?'

The Macho Response posts a great read entitled, 'Elect at Your Own Risk.'

Senseless

Several years ago a family member asked me to tell him when he was not making any sense. He was undergoing chemotherapy, and he was concerned that at times he would exhibit no logic in his statements due to the effects of the strong drugs.

I only had to alert him to the fact once. And he appreciated it.

Well, my fellow Americans, whether you asked for it or not, presently you are not making any sense. If the polls about your views concerning the 2008 Presidential and Congressional elections are correct, you are engaging in senseless irrationality.

Here's how.

As the economy falters, Barack Obama's poll numbers rise. And, when Congress voted for the 700 billion dollar bailout of Wall Street, once again Obama benefited in the polls supposedly due to the fact that Americans overwhelmingly opposed the bailout.

My friends, Barack Obama campaigned for and voted for the massive bailout!

So, why is he not sharing any of the blame?

In addition, since Barack Obama's Party took over both Houses of Congress in 2006, our economic woes have increased. Gasoline was just over 2 bucks a gallon here in the South in 2006. The housing and banking markets were strong.

Barack Obama was one of the Democrats elected to Congress that year. And, in less than 2 years we have seen gasoline increase by 2 bucks per gallon, the housing and banking markets fall into disarray, and our pension plans lose millions.

Congress controls the purse-strings of America, not the President. And it took less than 2 years' worth of Democratic leadership in Congress to result in this mess.

Yet you, the American people, are telling pollsters that you approve of the very ones responsible for the problem.

Barack Obama was knee-deep in scandal at FannieMae and FreddieMac way back in the 1990s, benefiting personally from good ole boy under-the-table deals that allowed him to get a million dollar home on the salary of an Illinois state legislator.

And then, just last week, he voted to bail out the good ole boys on Wall Street using OUR tax dollars to the tune 700 billion dollars. I suppose he had to return a favor to the corrupt officials that got him his magnificent home.

This is why I say you are making no sense whatsoever if you are participating in these polls. It is senseless to allow Obama and his Democratic cohorts to escape any blame for the mess in the economy.

The question is, are you strong enough to accept the plain truth? And, when are you going to begin listening to the lone voices crying in the darkness concerning the real truth about Barack Obama?

Dems Panic as Obama Numbers Fall in Key States

A state of panic has set in with Democratic Party operatives as recent poll numbers show that Barack Obama's figures are plunging in key states.

Further, some operatives suggest that there is a 'hidden racism' among Democrats who will publicly claim they are for Obama but intend to vote for McCain. This, according to one such operative, would make Obama's poll numbers much lower than they appear in the polls.

Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Florida, and Virginia all show that Obama's numbers have plunged over the past 2 weeks. McCain and Obama are now dead-even in those states.

In Oklahoma, however, a state where McCain has held a consistent lead, Obama's numbers have plummeted to even lower levels. McCain now holds a 2 to 1 lead over Obama in Oklahoma.

While Democratic operatives are quick to claim that 'hidden racism' among Democrats is the main reason for the plunge, it is clear that they are underestimating the impact of GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin on the campaign.

Palin's entrance into the race has energized a lackluster GOP base. The conservative base is wildly motivated to support and get out the vote for Palin-McCain. In fact, the ticket now leads in every single age-group except for 18-29 year olds.

Yet another tale-tell signal that McCain's choice of Palin is turning around the campaign, voters in the northwestern states are beginning to swing over to the McCain-Palin ticket. According to the latest polls taken over the past week, McCain has pulled even or within the margin of error of being even with Obama in Washington, Oregon, and Colorado.

All of this is excellent news in light of the fact that the mainstream media, liberal activists, and Hollywood elitists have all attempted to ruin Palin through the use of a well-orchestrated smear campaign. Charles Gibson's hit-piece with Palin this week is a perfect example.

The Gibson smear-attack interviews with Palin are also an example that the public is on to the ruse and sees the blatant bias of the mainstream media to the extent that they have simply cut them off. They are supporting Palin in even greater numbers the more negative the liberals get.

Perhaps finally decent American citizens are seeing the media sleazeballs for what they've been all along but kept carefully hidden.
