News reports indicating that multiple agencies of the federal government have ordered and are stockpiling multimillions of rounds of ammunition has pressured the Feds to offer an explanation. But the official explanation has only raised more questions.
On Friday the government stated that the hollow point bullets it has procured are "standard issue" and that they are used to train security agents used by each of the various federal agencies.
However, according to retired Maj. Gen. Jerry Curry, a decorated Army war veteran, the Feds' explanation about the bullets fails to pass the smell test.

Agents mull ATF name change amid bad press
Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) are responding to a suggested name change for the agency by the top brass in Washington. Along with the name change may come a change in duties and function, according to comments made by ATF agents Wednesday.
ATF Acting Director B. Todd Jones told the Wall Street Journal that given the enormous amount of bad press the agency has received in the wake of the Fast and Furious scandal, a name change may be in order. The "rebranding" would further signal a shift in the agency's duties and function.
But the agents who participate anonymously in an online forum called CleanUpATF.org expressed deep skepticism toward the idea. One agent stated Wednesday, "We are at a loss for words. Go home, Mr. Jones."

Cornell law professor blasts Southern Poverty Law Center for stirring hate
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) of Montgomery, Alabama was first established decades ago to combat the Ku Klux Klan and racism in general through its work in helping impoverished blacks fight discrimination. In recent years, however, SPLC has exhibited a tendency to label anyone or any group that disagrees with them as "racist" or a "hate group," says a Cornell Law School professor.
William A. Jacobson, an associate clinical professor at Cornell Law School, stated Wednesday in a piece written for Legal Insurrection that SPLC attempts to cut off debate and quell the free expression of ideas by labeling its political opponents as "hate groups."

More federal agencies buy multithousands of rounds of ammo
A news report today indicates that the Social Security Administration has purchased 174,000 rounds of ammunition, adding the agency to a growing list of federal agencies that have purchased multithousands of rounds of ammo over the last six months.
The type of ammunition government agencies are buying is troublesome to many observers. The agencies have purchased hollow point bullets which are designed to expand once they enter their target in order to do the most damage to the victim.
Not only has the Social Security Administration purchased multithousands of rounds of hollow point bullets but so have the Department of Homeland Security and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Sources have further indicated that hollow point bullets by the thousands have been delivered to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Education, and the Department of Health and Human Services, among others.
The official explanation for the ammunition is preparation for the possibility of civil unrest during a national emergency, such as a natural disaster, a terrorist attack, or a complete economic collapse.
Observers say that the growing specter of a complete economic collapse is the one thing that is most responsible for this unprecedented effort toward preparation on the part of multiple government agencies.
A few observers, however, see a much more ominous motivation behind the mass purchase of ammo.

Gov. Perry claims Second Amendment a 'states' rights' issue
In the aftermath of Monday's shooting near Texas A&M University, Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, told Fox News that the Second Amendment is a "states' rights" issue that each state should be able to decide for itself, according to Politico.
Perry made the statement in answer to a question concerning whether or not Texas would seek to implement tighter gun control laws as a consequence of the shooting that left three persons dead.
According to American Thinker,
Governor Rick Perry quickly responded by laying out his defense of gun rights. "When it gets back to this issue of taking guns away from law-abiding citizens, and somehow know that's going to make the country safer, it's just that I don't agree with that," he told Fox News. "I think most people in Texas certainly don't agree with that, and that is a state-by-state issue, frankly, that should be decided in the states and not again a rush to Washington, D.C., to centralize the decision-making." And a majority of Texans, he offers, "believe that law-abiding citizens should be able to have their weapons."
The problem with Gov. Perry's statement, however, is that the Bill of Rights was never intended as a states' rights issue that is to be left up to the discretion of each state.

Document shows Council on Foreign Relations plan to limit U.S. sovereignty
On Sunday a news report published at the Examiner indicated that there are heightened suspicions that the U.S. government is essentially being held hostage by a powerful global consortium of politicians, government bureaucrats, large banking moguls, university professors, and members of the mainstream media.
That powerful global consortium was identified by a trusted source as the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), although no de facto proof could be offered to support the claim other than a mountain of circumstantial evidence.

On Friday this reporter interviewed a research analyst for retired Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely's Stand Up America organization which delves into behind the scenes stories that are hidden and overshadowed by the major news headlines.
In addition to serving his country as one of the top officers of the U.S. Army, Vallely is the former senior military analyst for Fox News. At present his organization employs the talents of various researchers who investigate the real truth that often lurks beneath misleading headlines and news stories.

Romney opts for substance over style with Ryan pick
In a move that some observers had already predicted but that took others by surprise, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney announced U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., as his vice presidential running mate today.
Although Ryan has a certain charismatic style and appeal all his own, most political observers note that in choosing Ryan, Romney has opted for substance over style. Ryan is known primarily as a policy geek, famous for his so-called "Ryan Plan" that he introduced earlier this year in which he calls for a complete overhaul of federal spending that reduces the size of government.

Concern spreads over colonel's scenario of crushing a tea party insurgency
On Sunday a news report filed by this reporter focused on a training tool used by retired U.S. Army Col. Kevin Benson which features a fictitious scenario involving the crushing of a tea party insurgency in Darlington, S.C.
The scenario, and the news report about it, created a firestorm of controversy across the country that was not reported in the mainstream media.
Concern continues to spread today, however, as a major conservative media outlet, PJTV, produced a video Thursday outlining the multiple problems inherent with the colonel's scenario.

In an interview with Reuters Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg confirmed earlier reports that she had originally written a dissenting opinion in the ObamaCare case in which Chief Justice John Roberts stunned conservatives and liberals alike by siding with the court's liberals in upholding the law.
This reporter had noted in an earlier article just after the ruling that Justice Antonin Scalia's dissent at times read like the majority opinion, particularly in the manner in which it makes reference to Ginsburg's remarks as if they are the dissenting opinion, the point being that right up until a few days before the ruling was issued Roberts was apparently set to rule with the conservatives.
At the time of the court's decision this reporter stated that it had become clear that Roberts had changed his mind within the three or four days prior to the ruling.

Libertarian says third parties will not impact presidential race
Libertarian activist and stock market analyst Karl Denninger stated today that despite early indications that conservative voters might split their support between Romney and a third party candidate, thus tipping the election to Obama, the reality is that during this election cycle third parties will have little or no impact on the presidential race.
Denninger also maintains that Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson is largely to blame for the failure of a viable third party bid.
The reasoning for Denninger's assertions goes to the heart of the process of political tracking polls.

Obama classmate blows lid off of scandalous secrets
Critics of the so-called "birthers" who believe that President Obama was not born in Hawaii and thus is not a U.S. citizens often point to the most outlandish of the allegations against the president by persons of questionable repute. But suppose a person whose credibility is beyond reproach makes charges that are difficult if not impossible to refute?
And suppose at least some of that person's allegations are supported by dozens of others not only whose credibility is fully reliable but who can provide a significant body of evidence to support those allegations?
Two significant bodies of evidence have emerged within the last 24 hours that appear to corroborate, at least on the surface, some of the charges made by Obama opponents who question his qualifications for the presidential office.
