Media: Church Gunman 'Hated Liberals'

The spin-doctors of the mainstream media have kicked it into high gear over this one. The lunatic who opened fire inside a Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee on Sunday is now being described as one who 'hated liberals.'

I suppose this means that any of us who express a decided lack of esteem and respect for liberals, particularly those of us who own guns, will now be designated as potential homegrown terrorists who are liable to whip out a piece during Communion and knock off as many parishioners as we can.

In all the years I have owned a firearm (30-plus years), I have never shot at anything but a target at the range and a few wild boar.

I have never been forced to draw my gun on a human being.

And I have never felt the slightest strange urge to go walking into a House of Worship, draw my weapon, and bump off a few of the faithful just for the heck of it...not even if they belong to ultra-liberal, Leftist organizations such as the Unitarian Universalist Church or the United Church of Christ.

You see, I am one of the 99.9% of conservative gun owners who believe that the battle for the hearts and minds of the American people can be won in the marketplace of ideas--as we debate issues head-to-head, eyeball-to-eyeball, toe-to-toe.

When we engage the Left in the marketplace of ideas, they lose...always, inevitably.

Thus, I do not accept being lumped in with lunatics like the Knoxville gunman. Instead, I am going to turn this around and implicate the entire lot of the liberal mainstream media. Liberals hate us.

And they will do everything they can to stop us by innuendo, defamation of character, caricature, and lumping us all together with lunatics whose mental capacity prevents them from engaging in rational behavior.

That is where the real hate lies.

Update on Erin McLean

Erin McLean, the student teacher in Knoxville, TN who had an affair with a former student, which resulted in that student's murder, and who recently disappeared with her two sons, has made contact with her attorney.

McLean states that she is living in another state with friends and that she has enrolled her two children in school.

Meanwhile, a court in Knoxville has granted Erin's estranged husband, Eric, visitation rights with his children. Eric is free on bail for the killing of a 19-year-old student who was involved with his wife.

The court's granting of visitation rights to Eric, however, may be meaningless if they cannot be found, or if they are living so far away that regular visitation is impossible.

Rumor has it that Erin is staying with someone in California...a long, long way from Tennessee.

Race Keeps Knoxville Slaying Out of National News

Knoxville, TN (TLS). The brutal murder of a Knoxville, Tennessee couple has certainly made the headlines of local newspapers and television stations, but you won't find a word of it mentioned in the national media. This is odd given the heinous nature of the crime.

Knoxville residents Christopher Newsom, 23, and his girlfriend, 21-year-old Channon Christian, a student at the University of Tennessee, were found brutally murdered in January. Both had been raped and tortured.

In fact, the details of their slaying are so gruesome that they have not been made public by police officials, but plenty of websites have provided the gory details.

Four suspects have been arrested and charged with the crimes. All four are Black. The two victims are white.

And this is the source of the controversy. Local residents and bloggers claim that had the situation been reversed, with four Caucasians raping, torturing, and murdering two young African-Americans, the details of the crime and the arrests would be all over CNN and the national media.

But so far, nary word.

Country music star Charlie Daniels claims that while the news blackout may not be racially motivated or an example of reverse racism, it most definitely is a case of 'selective journalism.'

The trial will be underway in Knoxville very soon, and prosecutors have not yet indicated if they will seek the death penalty.
