The last time I penned one of these after midnight musings it turned out to be the single most popular posting I have ever published on The Liberty Sphere. I really didn't know how it would go over. For one thing, it was considered way too long for the masses to keep reading. We are told that most people today want short, concise articles and posts rather than long, detailed, and closely reasoned arguments. Perhaps readers of this blog are smarter and more capable of sustaining their attention on lengthy treatises such as mine.
But at any rate, I know from my stats that the post entitled, 'Time to Sound the Alarm--This is No Drill,' attracted a ton of readers, and apparently we can conclude by this fact that there is a market for posts such as that, and there are a significant number of people in the population that are not only capable of keeping their minds engaged in something the defies the brief, on the run shorties but actually prefer the more logical and detailed musings that display more of the deliberative method of argument rather than the rapid fire short informational pieces that are sorely lacking in depth.
So, here I am again enduring a sleepless night during which my mind is churning at full speed, ruminating over the crises we as Americans face at this critical hour, and being ever aware of the dire need to put these cogitations of mine in a format that people will find enticing and compelling enough to ingest. The time we have left for such things may be very short for us Americans. Thus, I write with a sense of great urgency, hoping that I can reach as many as I can before the midnight hour strikes and our opportunity for reversing the present scourge is forever gone.
And be not misled, dear reader, these things MUST be said. Not many are saying them, at least not with the urgency with which they need to be communicated. I come to you as a dying man pleading with dying men to wake up and see the truth before it is too late. We are within seconds of that dreaded midnight hour when the country as we know it will be changed forever, descending into what Reagan called 'a thousand years of darkness.'
If enough of our fellow citizens do not wake up and see the truth now, and I mean NOW, and then act to reverse the damage that has already been done to this Constitutional Republic, then everything for which our Founders pledged their lives and fortunes, everything for which millions of Patriots and soldiers fought and died, will have been in vain.
The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. But America has grown lazy, complacent, fat, and beset with a sense of entitlement. Freedom never lasts long once a populace takes on these characteristics. The forces of anti-freedom never sleep nor do they stop devising schemes to gradually undermine freedom and take away the protected liberties of the people without our being aware of it. Those who are fully awake and vigilant ARE aware of it. But for the past 100 years, they are in the minority.
Thus, the 20th Century witnessed the biggest and most successful attack on American liberty than in any other period of our history. This can be traced precisely to the Progressive Movement that began in the late 1800s and came to full bloom in American politics in the early 1900s with Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and later, with Franklin Roosevelt. This is the period that gave us the Income Tax, the establishment of the Federal Reserve, Prohibition, and the unprecedented growth of the centralized federal government complex at the expense of the states and the individual citizen. This is also the period that saw the advent of the dangerous and insidious philosophy called 'eugenics,' which is at the core of every atrocity the 20th century witnessed, from the notion that humans must be 'bred according to their best genetic disposition' while lesser human beings were for all intents and purposes discarded--a philosophy that when carried to its logical conclusion gave us the 'superiority of the race' that was central to the Nazis, experimentation on the lesser humans of inferior genetic breeding, and even worse, the attempted systematic genocide of an entire race/ethnic group/religion.
This mindset was also exhibited by Communists/Socialists/Marxists who systematically murdered over 100 million human beings during the 20th century in the USSR, China, Cuba, Southeast Asia, and Central and Latin America. Others were considered sub-human and administered severe electric shock treatments to the brain, rendering them nothing less than babbling idiots. This was done for no other reason than political dissidence, particularly when it came to speaking one's mind freely against the all powerful centralized government.
What has this got to do with America today?
The answer is EVERYTHING.
Statists and collectivists, who were most commonly known as Leftists, are still dedicated to the methodology of Progressivism to this very day. Everything we have seen out of the Obama Administration is a perfect portrayal of the script written by the Progressives of the early 20th century--the incessant attacks on free speech; the suggestion that those with a decidedly different point of view on matters such as global warming, for example, are suffering from a sickness that needs treatment; the view that citizens must be deprived of their gun rights because of the actions of a small number of criminals; and the mindset of the Alinskyites and their disciples such as Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Jodie Evans, all friends of Barack Obama, that citizens who resist the changing of America from top to bottom into a nation based on the Marxist principle of redistribution of wealth must be either killed or 're-educated' in detainment camps; and even the practice of abortion itself, which originally was the brain child of proponents of eugenics who believed that the slowest among us, the feeble minded who belonged to inferior races must be eradicated and that abortion was the best way to accomplish it.
It is no coincidence that African Americans have the highest abortion rate of any ethnic group in America. It was planned that way by the very elitist whites who pushed for the practice of abortion and took steps to insure that it would be legal in all 50 states.
Progressivism--Liberalism--Marxism, whatever you wish to call it, is one of the most evil forces in the world today. The 100 million people who were murdered in cold blood by its adherents is the proof, along with the multi-millions of unborn babies slaughtered who cry out for justice. And let's not forget the political dissidents who were lobotomized or given enough shock treatments to render them incapacitated--all in the name of advancing the Progressive agenda where the centralized government always knows best, the collective good always trumps the individual, and the individual exists for no other reason than to advance the agenda of the ruling elite.
Recent Events That Prove the Point
If one had any shadow of a doubt that these dark and dangerous forces of evil have taken root in the American government, those doubt should have been totally removed by a few key events that have occurred just within the last week.
First, the ObamaCare law was heard by the U.S. Supreme Court in a contentious three-day hearing that had the justices in a stir. Justices Scalia, Roberts, Alito, and Kennedy hammered away at the Obama Administration attorneys on the individual mandate and the dubious, shifting rationale the Administration provided for its implementation. One day they argued it was not a tax. The next day they argued it IS a tax. That in itself should have been the end of the deliberations. Such a clown show on display by what should have been competent government lawyers was so inexcusable that the justices should have taken a vote right on the spot and thrown the law out along with Obama's lawyers, one and all.
Obama himself must have gotten the distinct impression that his precious brainchild, the defining mark of his deplorable Presidency, was in deep trouble, for he went on the attack this week, in essence daring the justices not to render his baby unconstitutional, implying that if they do they are guilty of 'judicial activism' in that they would be taking the 'unprecedented act' of actually rendering unconstitutional a law passed by a duly elected Congress, totally ignoring the fact that this is what the Supreme Court does and has been doing for over 200 years.
The audacity, the arrogance of a sitting President to make such a comment about the 3rd branch of government is unconscionable, inexcusable, and highly troublesome--so much so that for the very first time in American history a federal appeals court ordered the Obama Justice Department to submit a full explanation of the President's statements in writing. The Court wants to know what the Obama Administration actually believes about the authority of the Court, given that he seemed to indicate that any ruling against his desires is automatically illegitimate.
This, my friends, is not only the Freudian musing of a dictator caught in an unguarded moment when put on the spot by a reporter's question, but a highly dangerous dictator at that--one who seems to believe that he is above any court ruling.
The last time a President considered himself to be above the law, he was driven out of office, and his name was Richard Nixon. But even Nixon never had the sheer audacity and arrogance to suggest that the Supreme Court did not have the power to render a law passed by Congress to be unconstitutional.
The Obama-Calderon Axis to Ban U.S. Guns
In the midst of the swirl of controversy caused by the Constitutional crisis provoked by Obama, an intriguing meeting took place at the White House between the President and Mexican President Calderon. At a joint news conference it was made abundantly clear that Calderon is fully on board with the Obama plan to pass unprecedented gun bans due to the fact that "90% of the guns used by Mexican drug cartels come from the United States."
Now, where, o where, have we heard those words before?
Now let me think for a moment....
Oh yes! Obama said so back in 2009. So did Hillary Clinton. So did Janet Napolitano. So did top officials at the DOJ, especially supervisory agents with the ATF, along with the U.S. Attorney's Office in the District of Arizona.
The problem? That statement is a barefaced lie.
The ATF's own internal figures show that the statement is a lie. Dianne Feinstein, in an attempt to prove the false mantra, inadvertently proved that it was a lie instead, when she pressed an ATF agent on the figures during a Senate hearing.
Now, the Calderon government was at first furious that the Obama Administration had conducted Operation Fast and Furious without its knowledge or cooperation. But now that obviously Obama and other top Administration officials have explained that the whole illegal scheme was designed to stop the flow of U.S. guns into Mexico, which Calderon already blames on lax U.S. guns laws anyway, the Mexican President is now fully on board with the Obama plan to put the screws on gun stores in the states that line the southern border, ban certain types of guns, and make ammo much more difficult to purchase.
This hurts no one but decent Americans. It will not stop Mexican drug cartels who get the majority of their weapons and ammo courtesy of the U.S. Government through the ATF and none other than Hillary's State Department.
This entire crowd must be removed from office as soon as possible. Their enablers in Congress, most of whom are Democrats, but not all, must be turned out of office with a vengeance. The nature of the tyranny being foisted on the American public by these deranged deadbeats of despotism deserves nothing less than the clear derision of the American people, a derision so deep and thorough that their kind must be thrown out of Washington and never allowed back in places of power EVER.
But what are the prospects for doing that in the current political climate?
The Prospects of the Republican Challenges in the 2012 Election Cycle
Under normal circumstances an incumbent President with an inflation rate reaching astronomical proportions on food, drugs, and gasoline prices would be tanking in the low 30s or high 20% approval rate when compared to Republican challengers. And a sustained unemployment rate of over 8% during the entirety of Obama's term would normally be the final nail in the coffin of the possibility of a 2nd term.
But Obama is doing much better than that when compared to his presumed challenger at this point, Mitt Romney. Not only is Romney perceived negatively by a clear majority of voters polled, but Obama, believe it or not, is perceived much more positively than Romney in spite of the economy, jobs, and gasoline prices.
The Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and ABC News have all found alarming negatives on Romney that place him squarely in the same dismal league of former Republican losers John McCain, Bob Dole, and Gerald Ford.
Doug Schoen, a veteran Democratic Party operative who has expressed severe misgivings about Barack Obama, has confirmed the alarming negatives on Romney and notes that with his 50% disapproval rating among the electorate, he is headed for a loss in November if he is made the nominee. Schoen states that he has never seen a candidate of either party win the Presidency if their negatives run at 50% or above.
I have always expressed severe misgivings about Romney's electability. As a Northeastern establishment RINO with little passionate dedication to historic conservative principles, his support is a mile wide but a half inch thick. Most Republicans can think of no good reason to vote for him other than they have been led to believe that he is the one who is most capable of beating Obama, which as I have stated incessantly, is a gross distortion of the facts. The electorate has proved time and again that when Republicans choose a moderate member of the elite establishment, they lose in the general election. I have warned Republicans for the past 3 years that this will happen yet again if they choose a candidate like Romney. But once again they are turning a deaf ear to those warnings as if they are resigned to the fact that Romney is the best we can do.
Well, Patriots, if Romney is the best we can do, then the nation is in much deeper trouble than any of us ever began to imagine.
There is a way to stop Romney if Republicans will but muster up the guts to get the job done. Deny him the number of delegates he needs by voting for someone else in the remaining primaries. Make sure that he is still short of the 1155 delegates he needs to secure the nomination. Despite the media hype and the false impression being created by the RNC, he now has only HALF the delegates he needs to win.
Thus, if he is still short by the time of the Convention in the summer, all he has to do is come up short of the required number in the first vote held on the convention floor. At that point delegates are no longer bound to ANY candidate, and they can vote for whoever they want. It is then that we will have an open convention, or as it is traditionally called, a brokered convention.
There are good candidates out there who are much to be preferred over Romney. I am partial to Sarah Palin. She gets a bum rap for serving as McCain's running mate in 2008. But his choice was her ticket to the national stage. McCain's operatives hated her and did all they could to make her look bad before the public. But being the honorable person she is, she felt she owed it to McCain to campaign for him in his Senate race in 2010 in exchange for his bringing her to the political forefront. This DOES NOT mean she is in alliance with his policies.
Palin is 100% conservative through and through. When it comes to small government, low taxes, the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, gun rights, reigning in government spending, drilling for our own oil right here at home while at the same time standing up to the mega-corporation special interests and the federal government conglomerate in Washington, she is 100% right down the line with people like me who are conservative through and through. She also has the Reagan charisma that motivates and energizes the crowds like no other, and she can out-draw anyone on the speaking circuit today, including Barack Obama.
And by the way, the polls taken by WSJ, WaPo, ABC, and Doug Schoen indicate that Palin has the highest positives among the public of any Republican candidate or potential candidate, even higher than Barack Obama.
But make no mistake, several other candidates would make much better nominees against Obama than Romney, either at the top of the ticket or as the running mate--Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Alan West, and Rand Paul, among others.
Contrary to popular wisdom, I believe that this year a brokered convention would be far from a liability for Republicans. I believe it would energize the Party to rally around a candidate who can save the day and unify the faithful to face the enemy in November. The sheer drama that such a scenario would create in the media would prove to be a great boost in interest on the part of the public, which could work to the Republicans' favor if they play it right.
But the key is going to be electing a Republican supermajority in the House AND THE SENATE. We desperately need both. Having only the House has proved to be a handicap over the past 2 years. With supermajorities in both Houses of Congress, we can overturn every single piece of legislation passed by the Marxist vermin over the past 6 years of Democrat rule, the most important being ObamaCare and all of Obama's obnoxious executive orders. Even if the Supreme Court upholds ObamaCare, a Republican controlled House and Senate can repeal it, wiping if off the books entirely.
Do I think we can do it? It's iffy at best. Republicans have made some big mistakes in pushing loser candidates, such as Romney. I have serious doubts that he can beat Obama. I give a better chance to the Republicans taking control of the Senate for the first time since 2006. But if we get a better candidate out of an open convention, our prospects increase dramatically.
And then, there is one little caveat that is a game changer entirely--if gasoline prices continue to rise as expected, then a polka dotted stray tom cat could beat Obama without much effort. Pocket book issues are always THE best indicator of whether or not an incumbent President is reelected. If prices continue to skyrocket, you can bet your last dollar of the Obama Depression that voters will take out their ire on the guy sitting in the Oval Office, where the buck stops.

Well said. This is a very enlightening look back in our sordid past. I see I have a new blog to keep up with.
Welcome aboard, Bud, and thanks.
I agree withe the urgency of your message, but can't you see that there are no more parties, they have each sold us out, it's silly to believe that at this hour. Both are complicit in treasonous actions against the American people. It will all go down with people pointing fingers and blaming the other party and only when it is too late will they realize that they have been betrayed. No parties, just Americans!! I'm okay with that, I hope you can make that leap of faith just as I have, please understand I say this with only the best of intentions. anyways thanks for letting me voice my opinion. Great Blog, keep it up, and thanks.
