When reporter Jake Tapper of ABC News confronted White House Press Secretary Jay Carney last week over the Administration's use of The Espionage Act to silence journalists, some media watchers began to wonder if this were a signal that the mainstream media is beginning to turn on Barack Obama.
If such a thing were true, it would be a major shift for the big news outlets in America. In 2008 the vast majority of the media practically served as publicists for the Obama election campaign.
So blatant and overt was the media's cheerleading for Obama that former long time CBS correspondent Bernie Goldberg wrote a best selling book about it entitled, A Slobbering Love Affair, in which he recounted many other incidents showing that for decades the major news outlets have slanted their reporting to favor Leftwing candidates and causes.
