Investigation Begins--Early White House Contacts with Phoenix ATF

As reported yesterday, one of the many sets of documents and records that have been subpoenaed by Congressman Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, are those pertaining to early contacts between the White House and the Phoenix ATF field office--ground zero for the scandal known as Operation Fast and Furious, or Project Gunwalker. Sources close to the inquiry report today that investigators have decided that their initial focus will be on early contacts, emails, and meetings between Kevin O'Reilly, Obama's appointee to the National Security Council who worked out of the White House, and William Newell, special agent in charge of the Phoenix field office.
