Google to Make Personal Computers Obsolete?

Imagine a future world where one large Internet mega-conglomerate controls all of your personal data, including highly sensitive information on your identity, finances, health, and anything else you may have stored in files on your personal computer.

If Google has its way, that day may be closer than you think.

And the personal computer will go the way of the dinosaur:

Google is to launch a service that would enable users to access their personal computer from any internet connection, according to industry reports. But campaigners warn that it would give the online behemoth unprecedented control over individuals' personal data.

The Google Drive, or "GDrive", could kill off the desktop computer, which relies on a powerful hard drive. Instead a user's personal files and operating system could be stored on Google's own servers and accessed via the internet.

And let's not forget that Google contributed heavily to the election of Barack Obama, its CEO is slated to become Obama's chief resource officer in charge of Internet technology, and that the company is now poised to seize unprecedented power.

Perhaps it's time for the citizens to revisit their dictionaries for a refresher on the definition of 'fascism.'
