Google Blacklists Geller's Atlas Shrugs

In the spirit of the free exchange of information, free speech, and freedom of the press, it is necessary that I inform you, the reader, of the latest attempts by Google to silence politically incorrect dissent.

Pamela Geller's Atlas Shrugs has been blacklisted by Google.

Until a few days ago, if one entered into the Google search engine the subject matter of one of Geller's stories, Atlas Shrugs would be at the very top of the list of blogs that had done work on that particular subject.

As one of the top blogs in the nation, Atlas Shrugs would get thousands of visits through Google. Many of these readers had never heard of Geller or Atlas Shrugs, but because the topic they placed in the Google search engine would likely yield a result with Atlas Shrugs at the top of the list, Geller would receive many new readers.

Suddenly and without explanation or forewarning, Google blocked access to Atlas Shrugs when one is searching for a blog post on a particular topic of interest.

Readers can still find Atlas on Google if they type in 'Atlas Shrugs' or 'Pamela Geller,' but new readers would have no way of knowing to type this.

As most serious bloggers know, new readers are often found by being at the top or near the top of search engine results when a reader types in a topic on which we have written.

For example, when one types 'Second Amendment' in the Google search bar, one is likely to find blogs such as The War on Guns, Say Uncle, Snow Flakes in Hell, or hopefully The Liberty Sphere, among others. This is one way we gain new readers.

These new readers had never heard of our blogs before, but because our blogs were at or near the top of the search engine results when one wanted to read something on the Second Amendment, we gained new readers.

But if Google blacklists you as they did Geller, your blog would be automatically blocked from readers searching for information on the Second Amendment.

This is a travesty of liberty, free speech, the free exchange of information, and the freedom of the press. Geller believes that Google's action is politically motivated due to her relentless pursuit and publication of information on Barack Obama that the mainstream media refused to cover.

And, as you will see when you read her post on this matter, Google has been very cozy with Obama. And we all know what Obama thinks about news sources that place him in a negative light.

We also know what Google will do to free speech if money is at stake, such as with their deal with the ChiComs to squelch the free exchange of information via the Internet in exchange for being allowed to do business in China.

I encourage you to click on the link provided in the 2nd paragraph above, read Geller's full account of the events in question, and then take appropriate action as you feel inclined.

I just tried "obama birth certificate forgery" which is the first search Pamela says is not working and Pamela's site pops right up. First two links...

As a private company, Google is within their rights to sandbox whatever they wish.

That said, the problem with Google's power is enormous. In effect, the most famous and most used search engine in the world is deciding what should and should not be readily available to those looking for information.

Even if "we" were to get our own search engine, I cannot imagine that it will ever become as widely used as Google. This has such huge consequences for the dissemination of anything other than "approved" information.

In sum, the noose keeps tightening on writers who dissent from leftism.

You may want to get off blogspot, and move your very worthy blog over to wordpress. Blogspot is also censoring those with anti-obama views. Go to the site bout one of the Supreme Court cases against Obama: http://thenaturalborncitizen.blogspot.com/
The first page to come up warns you that the blog is being reviewed for posssible offensive content. The site is a dry recitation of the case history. This case goes before the SC in conference this Friday, 12/5. How can that be offensive?

Be aware. Be afraid. Act.

Steve--try clicking on those links. You will get a message that says 'access blocked' or something to that effect.

Always--yes, I see very dark days ahead for anyone, anywhere in the world who dissents from the relentless march toward oppression.

Anon--if Wordpress were as user-friendly as Blogspot, I would make the move. But I am totally illiterate when it comes to computer language. Blogspot makes it easy for people like me.

I do have inactive backup sites on other servers for "just in case."

G'day,

I googled "obama birth certificate forgery" a minute ago and the Atlas Shrugged links no problem. Was able to click on them and reach the site too. Are people still having problems? I'm from Australia which may or may not be relevant.

Ralph, I'm not sure what's up with that, unless the problem is unique to U.S. Internet users.

And then, Google may have removed the ban since Geller has hired a team of IT experts and consultants in Internet terrorism to investigate.

But I have no confirmation on any of this. I do know that here in the U.S., as of 30 min. ago people were still having problems.

Doc, when I tried the suggested word search I also clicked through to see if any of the links were blocked; they were not. I clicked straight through to Atlas.

I have a screen cap of the the google links from the search.

Also, about blogspot... The blocks of this summer were perpetrated by Obamabots reporting anti-Obama blogs as spam. Blogspot (Blogger) supposedly addressed the exploit. I can't say if they did or not but of the blogs I frequent all were placed back on good standing ASAP with one exception. RezkoWatch moved from blogspot to WordPress and became The Real Barack Obama. Their archives are still available at blogspot.

I have several blogspot blogs. My first was a personal blog that was very derogatory of Obama. It was never blocked or harassed because of my hostility to BHO. At the peak it was getting triple digit hits a day (300 to 500) so it may not have been visible enough. I've since moved the political stuff to a new blogspot blog.

The service is free. When it becomes not worth the price, I'll move. :D

Blogspot isn't all bad. I get to read Liberty Sphere on their service!

LOL! Well, glad you read the Liberty Sphere, my friend!

Apparently the news of Google shenanigans with regard to Atlas is a story-in-progress.

Google has apparently removed the 'access denied' notice and allowed full access.

The problem, though, is that Google has manipulated the rankings on some of Geller's goundbreaking work. Whereas it used to be at the top of the list, it is now tucked in somewhere several pages down, behind lesser-known blogs.

In addition, as you will see if you read the whole thing on the original link I provided to Atlas, Geller's ad revenue from Google suddenly stopped after she had been earning money from their ads.
She even had a log that shows exactly how much she was earning per day, and the exact day the money stopped.

Odd by anyone's estimation.

You people are a bunch of paranoid nutjobs. The next four years are going to be fun as you switch from the defend-the-establishment mode and return to the crazy conspiracy-theorizing you engaged in during the Clinton years (remember how the Clinton administration was a puppet regime of the Chinese government all because they had some Chinese diplomats stay the night in the WH? or how the UN was going take over the US because they had a plaque marking the Grand Canyon as a World Heritage Site? or how about how Clinton had Vince Foster assassinated? or did Clinton do it personally? I forget which version was the most prevalent among the many conspiracy theory videos being sold at Republican conventions.)

Birth certificate forgeries! Secret Muslim allegiances! Socialists under every bed! Obama's not even in office yet and you're already convinced he's Hitler reborn (in Kenya!). Huzzah for the New Crazy, more paranoid than the Old Crazy!

With luck, you'll start forming militias and survivalist groups again. You know, the ones where most of the members were middle-aged and overweight. That was hilarious. Stock up on MREs and ammo, the End Times are nigh! Just try not to blow up any federal buildings with children in it this time. That was totally not cool.

Interesting 'logic' you got there, Anon.

Since the vast majority of us 'nutjobs' who love liberty, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution never ever use our guns except in self-defense, we are nonetheless lumped in together with the likes of Timothy McVeigh.

That alone speaks volumes about you and what you think of our rights...not to mention what you think of us personally.

In addition, everything I have posted on this blog has come from the mouth of Obama himself, or one of his inner circle. These are things he has stated he wants to do one way or another.

As for conspiracy theories, it would seem that you people who bash those of us who love liberty have had plenty of your own wild charges concerning George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

At the forefront of these Leftwing conspiracy theories is the one about Bush-Cheney 'getting into a war to get the oil' and other such complete balderdash.

Frankly, I don't want to hear it. Take your muddle-headed buffoonery elsewhere unless you decide to have the guts to post your name, and even then I may decide to delete it. I don't suffer fools very well.

Have a good day.
