Second Amendment News Roundup for 7/16/08

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

David Codrea's War on Guns informs us that D.C.'s massive gun-registration process will begin in the morning. Registering to exercise a right, huh. Mmmm.

Wow! Just wait till you see what 'Father' Snuffy Pfleger has done now! He's put out a contract on 'gun runners.' Armed and Safe has the story.

Roberta X provides another interesting installment of 'idiots in the news.'

Mike McCarville points to a racial divide in the 2008 Presidential election.

Scott Rasmussen reports some interesting stats in today's Presidential daily tracking poll.

The American Thinker shows us just how wrong the Democrats are on opposing oil drilling here at home.

Gateway Pundit says that the extremist Leftwing site, Moveon.org, has released a dishonest ad, which CNN proceeded to link to and actively promote. Is anyone surprised?

Squeaky posts last night's podcast (well, an hour of it) with Breda on the show, 'Gun Nuts.' Just click on her link to download.

Breda comments on her appearance on the show.

News from the NRA via Dr. John Lott: The NRA has referred to D.C.'s new gun laws as a 'joke.' As reported yesterday, the D.C. Council voted on new laws designed to supposedly comply with SCOTUS but are actually intended to get around the ruling.

Sebastian provides good commentary on the D.C. shenanigans.

(Hat tip to Say Uncle). SailorCurt at Captain of a Crew of One announces the blog reader who won a free trip to Blackwater to train with Todd Jarrett.

The Stiletto has the MUST-read of the day as she posts her periodic 'The Daily Blade,' the subject of which today is 'Satire is Not Slander.'

Eugene Volokh at the Volokh Conspiracy provides good reading on whether or not the Heller decision protects a Constitutional right to self-defense.

ROFL! You have GOT to see this gem (hat tip to Rezkorama). Black Cat Bone has an incredibly funny piece entitled, 'Political Satirists to Barack Osama Hussein bin Laden Obama--Our Job is to Mock Your Arrogant Ass off the World Stage with No Preconditions.'

NewsBusters (hat tip to Rezkorama) reports that the controversy over the cover of The New Yorker is hiding the real story on Barack Obama inside the magazine.

The Gaffney Ledger has a brief update on the South Carolina state's attorney that is using the federal courts to try gun cases instead of state courts because he thinks S.C.'s gun laws are 'too lax.'
