South Carolina Gets One Right on Concealed Carry

The South Carolina legislature passed a bill that keeps private the names of citizens in the state who hold concealed handgun licenses. This is of vital importance given that in other states, liberal journalists and newspapers have had a field-day with publishing the names.

We retaliated right here on The Liberty Sphere by publishing the names, addresses, and phone numbers of columnists, editors, and reporters who were responsible for such a blatantly irresponsible handling of such information--information that put some persons, particularly women who are victims of abusive spouses, at great risk.

The state of South Carolina, I am happy to say, decided to nip in the bud any such trend by making it illegal for a news organization to publish the names of persons who are licensed, legal carriers of concealed firearms.

We congratulate the state legislature for doing the right thing.
