At a special called news conference at 2 PM today, GOP Presidential hopeful Duncan Hunter, R-California, announced that he is staying in the race.
There had been widespread speculation that perhaps Hunter would announce today his withdrawal from the race due to his dismal showing in the polls in New Hampshire.
However, Hunter came in 3rd in Wyoming on Saturday and picked up one delegate to the Republican National Convention in the summer.
Stating that 'the voters will decide when the race is over,' Hunter vowed to march on to South Carolina following the New Hampshire primary.
South Carolina is one of the states where Duncan Hunter did very well early in the campaign. The U.S. Representative from California's San Diego district announced his Presidential bid in Spartanburg, South Carolina in the spring of 2007.
However, Hunter has suffered from Fred Thompson's entry into the race and Mike Huckabee's late surge, appealing to the large number of evangelical Christians in the state.
Huckabee is by no means a shoe-in, however. Polls in S.C. have been all over the map, indicating great fluidity. Fred Thompson has polled very well in the state and still has a good chance of winning.
