Transcripts of 911 Calls in Eric McLean Case

Knoxville, TN (TLS). Eric McLean, the man who is charged with the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Sean Powell in a love triangle turned deadly, faced a bond hearing in court on Tuesday.

During the hearing attorneys presented the transcripts of the two 911 calls made from the McLean home on the night of March 10, 2007, the night Sean Powell was shot to death.

The transcripts of those calls can be found by clicking on the link at the end of this article.

The text of the 911 calls shows that Eric McLean was aware of the identity of the intruder when he called police to report a break-in. In addition, apparently Sean Powell had been sleeping outside the McLean home for two nights prior to his death.

Toward the end of the first 911 conversation between Eric McLean and the dispatcher, McLean discloses that it is not exactly a break-in he is reporting but 'trespassing.' He further informed the dispatcher that Powell was leaving the house, and thus, he was cancelling the request for police assistance.

The 2nd 911 call was made minutes later by Erin McLean, who called to report that her husband had shot Sean Powell. She stated that the victim had been one of her students at school. When the dispatcher asked the name of the school, Erin McLean declined to answer.

Eric McLean's bond was set at $150,000.

I'm glad he killed the piece of shit, you don't sleep with your teacher, especially when she's married with kids and if you do you better be prepared for some trouble.

It's just too bad the wife isn't going to suffer enough, the bitch.

Well, Chris, I dunno. While crimes of passion are certainly understandable, and even sometimes defensible, they are certainly not preferrable. There are much better and less destructive ways of dealing with this situation.

But then again, the very reason we call them 'crimes of passion' is that the perpetrators are not thinking straight.

The whole thing is very sad for everyone concerned, especially the children.

It is too bad that Eric did not have the sense to divorce her and go to court. From what I can gather here, this woman is a controlling, insenstive, and abusive woman. A man's home is his castle, and the sanctity of his children' emotional connection to mom, dad and family was violated by mom and her lover. The young lover had no business stalking this man's family, nor coming to his home at any hour, especially at night. As well the father said his kids witnessed mom holding hands with the lover, ?Kissing too? That is a horrible and confusing thing for the children to experience. It is apparent that Eric made deep sacrifices for his family, tried to make an unhappy woman happy for the sake of his kids. He should be afforded the same consideration that abused woman are given by the courts and legal system. The insanity of his wife should not be ignored, nor the abuse she put him through, and I can only imagine what kind of childhood scars she has. It is pitiful all around.
