Virginia Senator Jim Webb to Deliver Demo Response to State of Union

Washington, DC (TLS). In a clear attempt to put a macho, military face on its pacifistic, anti-war policies, the Democrats have chosen Virginia Senator James Webb to deliver their response to President Bush's State of the Union address. Virginia's freshman Senator will have a rare opportunity for a first-term lawmaker to be the face of the Democrat Party on the national stage.

You may remember that Webb avoided President Bush at a reception for incoming Congressional freshmen, exhibiting the inability to put political differences aside in order to greet the nation's Commander-in-Chief as everyone else managed to do at the reception. Thus, the President sought him out to inquire about the Senator's son, who is serving in Iraq. Webb's nasty retort became the talk of the town for weeks afterwards, as he clearly sought to engage the President in a hostile debate about the war in Iraq in response to a friendly question about the Senator's son.

The Liberty Sphere had warned readers before the November midterms elections that the election of Webb would be a colossal mistake. Obviously lacking in accepted social graces and the wisdom of following accepted protocol in a formal setting in Washington, Webb comes across as an uncouth hooligan who has a grossly exaggerated opinion of himself.

The Democrats, however, hope to make political hay out of trotting out before the public a military man, a macho hooligan who appears 'manly' even while supporting policies that will lead to our defeat in Iraq.

No amount of macho packaging, however, can hide the fact that the policies he will espouse were born and bred by America-bashing woosies.
