Washington, DC (TLS). The two U.S. Border Patrol agents who fired at an illegal alien crossing the U.S./Mexican border with a stash of illegal drugs have been sent to prison. This travesty of justice should be enough to get any patriotic American's blood boiling. President Bush's failure to issue a pardon to these brave men is to be condemned, and the prosecuting attorney who brought the charges, and the Judge who sentenced them, should be removed from office and disbared.
These two courageous American citizens were doing the job their country called them to do--protect our border from the constant onslaught of illegal aliens. They encountered a suspicious group of illegals, one of them ran, shots were fired, illegal drugs were found, and for this, the two border patrol agents were charged, tried, and found guilty of crimes. Now they sit in jail serving lengthy prison terms.
The border situation is raging out of control. Even Tony Snow, Presidential Press Secretary, admitted that immigration laws were not being enforced.
The question is, 'why?'
If this nation cannot secure its own borders, then how in God's name can we secure citizens from terrorist attacks?
This nation's immigration policy and border control issues are a danger to each and every citizen. Our American way of life is threatened by those who neither care for nor value our freedoms and form of government. If illegal immigrants are not expected to obey the law of the land and immigrate legally, then why should ANY citizen obey ANY law?
The illogic of the manner in which our policy on immigration is carried out boggles the mind. And, as I have stated many times here on The Liberty Sphere, BOTH parties--Democrats and Republicans--are to blame for this fiasco. Democrats love illegals because they can buy the votes. Republicans love illegals because of the cheap labor. Both are aiding and abetting the breaking of the law. The message is being sent to illegals that it is perfectly acceptable to break the law if you are of a certain ethnic background. This is entirely unacceptable in a free society.
I have a bit of advice to Republicans and Democrats as we set our sites on 2008--either change the way illegal immigration is handled in this country and secure our borders, or you will face the ire of the electorate in 2008.
And I have a message to President Bush--Mr. President, SET THOSE BORDER AGENTS FREE!
