Edwards Has Not Come Clean with American Public

Former North Carolina Senator and Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards apparently has not come clean with the American public about his affair with former staffer Rielle Hunter.

The National Enquirer reported on Wednesday that Edwards had not one, but a series of clandestine meetings at the Beverly Hills Hilton with Hunter.

In addition, Edwards apparently continued with the relationship with Hunter long after the time when he claims he 'ended it.'

Remember, this is the man who is being considered as a running mate for Barack Obama and also has been considered for Attorney-General or a Supreme Court appointee in an Obama Presidency.

It is too bad that a sex scandal turns out to be thing that ruins Edwards. The thing that should have ended his career is when he told a reporter during an interview last year that gun rights are a 'privilege' and not a 'right,' but that having Internet access and U.S. citizenship are automatic inherent 'rights.'

Funny that Edwards, like Obama, is a lawyer and yet knows very little about the U.S. Constitution. But in today's America, that is just fine with a large portion of the electorate.

And so, the mighty falls on his own sword knowing full well that as a Presidential candidate and potential government official, he will be scrutinized with a proctoscope.

Edwards was born in the small South Carolina town of Seneca in the Upstate and grew up in North Carolina just above Charlotte.

Second Amendment News Roundup for 8/12/08

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

From David Codrea's War on Guns:
*"Follow the Results"--which contains the quote of the day concerning David Olofson.
*"A Maryland Shooter"--there is a dire warning here for gun owners in Maryland as law enforcement begins using intimidation tactics.
*"Support Your Local Gang Rape"--this one should make you sick. Law enforcement actually encourages atrocities like these within prisons.

Armed and Safe has something that should get your blood boiling this afternoon. How about a law professor who believes ALL gun owners should face legal liability whether they are guilty of anything or not!?

A Keyboard and a .45 has an interesting news story concerning football coaches that are grappling with gun policies.

Mike McCarville posts an interesting read on Senator Tom Coburn, R-OK, and his ongoing dispute with the Senate Ethics Committee concerning his delivering babies for FREE! It seems the Dems want to hang Coburn because he often ties up abominable legislation the Democrats introduce in the Senate, making him a VERY valuable resource in the cause of freedom.

Gateway Pundit provides vital reading on the ground invasion of Georgia by Russian troops, just as the New York Times reports that Russia has ordered a halt to the invasion.

Gateway has an update on the John Edwards sex scandal which shows that the Senator's version of the events don't square with the facts.

Gateway is also reporting that Nancy Pelosi has indicated she may cave on the GOP's demands for a vote in the House on offshore oil drilling.

The Hill has more on the story of Pelosi's supposed willingness to allow an offshore drilling vote.

CNS reports that the Communist Party USA has endorsed Barack Obama and says that if elected he will end 30 years of 'ultra-right rule.'

The U.K. Telegraph posts an op-ed that says the great oil bubble has finally burst.

Wallet Pop reports on an 'air car' that supposedly gets up to 106 miles per gallon by using a combination of compressed air and gasoline.

The Autonomist has the Barack Obama dupe salute. LOL! (H/t to Rezkorama).

From Dr. John Lott:
*Video of Lott's Debate with Paul Helmke on Gun Free Zones on college campuses
*New Op-Ed on Obama's statements on energy efficiency
*Judge upholds gun ban at Atlanta airport--time to gear up for another fight.

Today's MUST-read is at Western Rifle Shooters Association entitled, 'The Penalty is Always Death.' This piece is not for the faint of heart but it tells the truth about the tactics of the growing all-powerful government.

Sebastian reports that a federal court has upheld Lautenberg. Damn.

Robb Allen notes some good news concerning the gun ban in Evanston, Illinois.

Nicki hits one out of the ballpark today. This is good writing, and her sentiments on what is right about America is something we need to hear.

Ahab has the info on tonight's podcast of 'Gun Nuts--The Next Generation.' This is a great Internet radio show that apparently is growing. So give it a listen!

Alphecca says it the way I like it about Communist China. YEAH, what he said!!!

Texas Fred provides hard-hitting commentary on the Russia-Georgia situation. Not sure I agree with all of it, but it is an opinion worth reading and considering.

Insight on Freedom has a warning to America. Read it all.

3 Key Questions

The story, or at least John Edwards' version of it, simply makes no sense.

His statement to the Press on Friday raises more questions than it answers. But he ended his remarks by saying that after giving the statement he would say nothing more about the matter.

How convenient.

Here are 3 key questions for Senator Edwards:

1. Now that we know Rielle Hunter, your supposed 'ex' mistress, will refuse to participate in a paternity test for her child, doesn't that make your offer of 'taking any test to prove you are not the father' just a tad disingenuous, particularly if you knew in advance she would refuse to participate, making your offer a moot point?

2. If Rielle is indeed your 'ex' mistress and the child is not yours, then what were you doing with them in her hotel room in Beverly Hills on the night of July 21, from roughly 10 PM until roughly 3 AM?

3. If you know beyond any shadow of a doubt that you are not the father of the child, then why didn't you go ahead and have the paternity test in advance, making the results known to reporters and the world when you made your 'confession' on Friday? If such a test would prove you are not the father, then having the results available as soon as you finally admitted to the sordid mess would certainly have put an immediate stop to the speculation.

Until John Edwards answers these 3 key questions, then we can only assume he has more to hide--much more to hide.

The National Enquirer insists that it has more information and more pictures, including video footage.

And contrary to the notion that such things are 'private' and have no business being reported in the news, such things are vital to the public interest. The voters have a right to know about the character of the person they are considering supporting, right?

After all, this is the common mantra of the media and liberals every time a conservative or Republican is caught in a sex scandal.

Edwards has always held out his family and marriage as stellar examples of his character. Now we know of the hypocrisy of that tactic. He has not been who he says he is, and THAT is news.

My hunch is that Edwards threw the Press a bone to chew on in order to try to squelch the story and move on without telling the whole story. In that sense he is still lying, and there is much more to this story than the small part Edwards made public.

If the National Enquirer is telling the truth, then what Edwards stated on Friday is only the tip of the iceberg.

EDWARDS ADMITS WHAT MSM REFUSED TO REPORT

The late-breaking news this afternoon is that former Democratic Presidential hopeful John Edwards has admitted to an affair and sex scandal that the 'stalwart, unbiased, and non-partisan members of the mainstream media' refused to report.

It took the National Enquirer, of all publications, to break the story and run with it.

With the Los Angeles Times instructing its bloggers to go mum on the story, and with other major mainstream media outlets sitting on a major scandal involving a major Democrat, the blogosphere was the place for the information.

Edwards admitted to the affair that he says happened in 2006 prior to running for the Democratic Presidential nomination. He also claims he told his wife, who is suffering from metastatic cancer, about the affair. But he denies that the 'love child' is his.

Do you have DNA proof of that, Senator? I mean, you have lied to the media repeatedly about the affair since December of 2007. So, how do we know you are telling the truth about the child without DNA proof?

The child's birth certificate lists no father.

Edwards has stated that he will take any test necessary to prove that he is not the father of the child born to Rielle Hunter, the woman with whom he had the affair. The National Enquirer has stated they will publish the test results no matter what they show, although they stand by their original story that Edwards is the father.

As expected, the mainstream media reported the story this evening only when forced to do so by the Senator's own admission, allowing Edwards to spin it the way he wanted before the story was reported. And then the MSM spin doctors went to work as well.

Bob Schieffer at CBS spoke of the Edwards as if they were old pals and focused on the fact that Elizabeth Edwards' response to the affair is that she had 'forgiven him.'

It was as if poor John Edwards is a 'sympathetic' character. After all, if his own wife could forgive him, then so can we.

The Democratic National Convention, however, doesn't seem to be so forgiving. A DNC official stated late today that Edwards would not be speaking at the Party convention this year in Denver.

Fox News has the complete story.

Edwards May Be Snubbed at DNC Over Scandal

A major North Carolina newspaper is reporting that former Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards may be snubbed at the Democratic National Convention over the sex scandal that allegedly involves a mistress and a 'love child.'

The Raleigh News & Observer quotes several top Democratic Party operatives as saying that Edwards will lose his chance to address the Convention--an honor normally given to all previous Presidential candidates--unless he publicly answers the allegations made by the National Enquirer.

So far Edwards has neither directly confirmed nor denied the allegations. His only public comment about the matter is stating that the story is 'tabloid trash.'

But that does nothing to address the truth or falsehood of the allegations.

In fact, Edwards has had several opportunities to answer questions posed by members of the mainstream media in North Carolina concerning the scandal, but each time he has sidestepped the issue.

Democratic Party officials state that with each passing day that the issue remains unresolved, Edwards' value as a speaker at the DNC declines.

Photos Show Edwards With 'Love Child'

The National Enquirer has now released secret photos taken of former Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards, D-NC, and his alleged 'love child' and mistress, during a visit he made to the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel on the night of July 21.

While the national mainstream media has been totally mum on the story, the Edwards scandal has been widely reported in the major mainstream newspapers of North Carolina, including the Charlotte Observer and the Raleigh News & Observer.

The blogosphere, however, has done what the MSM has refused to do--expose a high-level, powerful Democrat in a major scandal that will probably end Edwards' political career. Gateway Pundit is one such alternative news source that has done an excellent job in reporting this scandal.

Thus, the question remains, when will the national mainstream media report this story? And more importantly, how will they slant it once they report it?

Second Amendment News Roundup for 7/31/08

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

From Codrea's War on Guns:
*Nancy Pelosi's Democrat-controlled House now thinks your children belong to the government. Just wait till you see what two bills in the House would allow state workers to do without your consent!
*Fight or Flight? The uphill battle over gun-rights in certain areas of the country.
*Something About Mary--a freelance spy with NRA connections in gun control land.

Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership has a MUST-read on 'The Popgun Parade,' which examines Smith & Wesson's attempt to commemorate the Heller decision.

The JPFO also provides essential reading on how to protect yourself against travesties of justice such as what happened to David Olofson. This is vital info for ALL gun owners!

Michelle Malkin comments on John McCain's excellent new ad comparing Obama-worship to those who are star-struck by the likes of Britney, Lindsay, and Paris.

Texas Fred reports a striking decline in the number of illegal aliens in the country in the past year.

John Lott reports that Obama has accused John McCain of running a 'racist' campaign, but the thing is, he can't point to anyone who said anything racist. Do you think maybe he made it up to get some mileage?

Born Again Redneck comments that it is Barack who keeps bringing up the race issue in the campaign.

Finally, a major, liberal newspaper of the mainstream media has picked up the story of the John Edwards-mistress-love child scandal. It's about time, but they are very, very late.

Sebastian says that the NRA has reached a deal with Congressional Democrats to reform D.C.'s gun laws.

Squeaky tells us that The Rustmeister has fallen ill and is in the hospital. She is taking donations to help him. We can all wish him the best and keep him in our thoughts and prayers.

Nicki at The Liberty Zone takes apart one of the quintessential a**holes of the mainstream media--Keith Olbermann. Just wait till you see what he said about the Second Amendment.

Walls of the City has an interesting exchange between the blogger and one of the members of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville who stopped the shooter. The UU member is against guns. Go have a look. (H/T to Say Uncle).

The Bitch (Pelosi) and her Democrat Mongrels in the U.S. House of Representatives have adjourned and gone on vacation--over the objections of the GOP--without doing a damn thing about the energy crisis or drilling here at home. Gateway Pundit has the story.

Walter Williams, my favorite intellectual, has a great new op-ed at Jewish World Review on the environmentalists' stranglehold on the Democrat Congress.

Via Rezkorama, Clipmarks posts a letter from a major Democratic Party donor to the DNC treasurer delineating his problems with Barack Obama.

Mike McCarville reports that Andrew Rice, Senator Jim Inhoffe's Democratic opponent for Oklahoma's Senate race in the Fall, didn't do very well in the primary, despite his win.

21 Guns Salute provides essential reading on Vanderboegh's latest article, which we cited yesterday.

Edwards Protected, Stevens Vilified by MSM

One had been the Vice-Presidential candidate for his Party in 2004 and was a contender for the Presidential nomination by his Party in 2008. He is a former 2-term U.S. Senator from North Carolina.

This man's wife, who had stood faithfully by his side during his campaign, was diagnosed with metastatic cancer.

But it turns out that the man has a mistress with whom he had a love-child.

That anonymous 'love-child' now has a name--Frances Quinn Hunter, the daughter of the mistress, Rielle Hunter.

Rielle Hunter, as it turns out, has also been receiving $15,000 per month in hush money.

John Edwards, one of the most popular and influential Democrats in the country, is up to his eyeballs in scandal of draconian proportions, yet not a word of it has been even as much as whispered in the mainstream media.

The word on the street is that the MSM will soon be forced to report the story due to the overwhelming evidence that it's true.

But how much do you want to bet that when Katie, Charles, and Brian report it, the word 'Democrat' will not be uttered in the introductory remarks about the story?

The other man in the news has been an icon in the U.S. Senate longer than any other living person in the GOP. Alaskans have trusted this man to be their spokesman in the Senate for half a century.

He has been described as one of the most powerful figures in U.S. politics, though he is not often mentioned as the prime mover behind key legislation. His power has been wielded more often than not behind the scenes.

The mainstream news media has been suggesting that this man resign his seat in the Senate. His only transgression? He got a new basement and a new deck built onto his home, supposedly paid for by Alaskan companies that received lucrative government contracts as a result of this Senator's influence.

Yet so far these are allegations only.

When the MSM reported that Ted Stevens of Alaska was under indictment and investigation for corruption, not only did it make headlines and become the lead story on the evening news broadcasts, but within the very first sentence of the story, Stevens was identified as 'a powerful Republican.'

Often when other stories have been reported involving Democrats being caught in scandals, the
reporter conveniently fails to mention that the politician in question is a Democrat.

Thus, John Edwards is given safe haven protection from the MSM while Ted Stevens is vilified.

This is all part of the stellar, unbiased journalism to be found on ABC (All Barack Channel), NBC (National Barack Channel), CBS (Cheerleading for Barack System), and CNN (Clinton News Network).

And as for the silence of the major daily newspapers such as the New York Times on the John Edwards scandal, that silence shouts louder than a foghorn that they are beneath the dignity of even the National Enquirer, which has at least a year's worth of investigative work to back up its allegations.

EDWARDS SCANDAL EXPLODES IN LEGAL ACTION

THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER has filed a criminal complaint in Beverly Hills, California, contending that a security guard acted illegally in interrupting their questioning of former U.S. Senator and Vice-Presidential candidate John Edwards, D-NC.

Now that a criminal complaint has been filed, Edwards will be forced to answer official police questions concerning the incident that led to the complaint, which the National Enquirer says involves a clandestine rendezvous at the Beverly Hilton between Edwards, his mistress, and their love-child on the night of July 21.

In a related development, the mainstream media is frantically attempting to keep the Edwards scandal off of its front-page news.

According to reports published by Matt Drudge on Saturday, bloggers at the Los Angeles Times have been instructed not to mention the incident involving Edwards at the Beverly Hilton.

But the attempts to keep the story under wraps may prove to be a lesson in futility once Edwards is required to answer a police inquiry into the actions of a Hilton Hotel security guard who escorted the former Senator out of the building while reporters for the Enquirer were attempting to question Edwards.

EDWARDS CAUGHT WITH MISTRESS BY SECURITY

Fox News is reporting this afternoon the explosive revelation that a hotel security guard caught former U.S. Senator and Vice-Presidential candidate John Edwards (D-NC) at the Beverley Hilton in the room of his mistress on the night of July 21.

The guard confirms that Edwards was in the hotel room and that there was an altercation between Edwards and the media personnel who had followed him to the room.

In addition, the guard says that he escorted Edwards out of the hotel at roughly 2 AM and that the former Senator was 'white as a sheet.'

JOHN EDWARDS CAUGHT WITH PANTS DOWN

Former U.S. Senator and Vice-Presidential candidate John Edwards (D-NC) has been caught with his pants down after meeting his mistress and their love child at a hotel this week.

Matt Drudge first broke the story concerning Edwards' extramarital affair and love child last December, as reported on The Liberty Sphere.

At the time Edwards was running for the Democratic nomination for President.

The story produced a string of strongly-worded denials by Edwards and his staff.

Yet this week the National Enquirer was on the scene where Edwards met the woman and child--the Beverly Hilton on Monday night, July 21.

The Enquirer reports that the former Senator was in the woman's hotel room all night and was seen leaving the next morning.

Edwards' wife is at home in the fight of her life against cancer.

Matt Drudge: Edwards Love-Child Scandal Brewing

Note! Scroll down for late-breaking update, including the name and picture of the woman.

Matt Drudge is reporting a major breaking story, published by the National Enquirer, which contends that Democratic Presidential hopeful John Edwards is embroiled in a love-child scandal in which the mother is being kept in hiding.

The woman, who has not yet been named, is purportedly carrying Edwards' child and is being kept out of public view.

This still-developing story is short on details at this point. For this reason a link will be provided below that will take you directly to the Drudge Report website for further updated information.

If this story turns out to be true, it will sound the death-toll for the Edwards campaign. You can bet your last birth control pill that Americans, even within the Democratic Party, are not going to stand for a candidate who sires a love child while his wife is dying of cancer.

Here is the link to the Drudge Report:

UPDATE! The link to the National Enquirer story is provided here, which not only names the woman in question, but has a picture of her and excerpts from her admission to the affair with Edwards to a friend:
