Why It Matters About the Army in Alabama

OK. So, it appears at first glance that the Army did not cross the line in the manner in which they engaged in the Samson, Alabama scenario where a mass-murderer was on the loose.

Investigation Into Army Conduct in Alabama

As a follow-up to the story we posted yesterday concerning the odd use of troops to patrol the streets of Samson, Alabama in the aftermath of a mass shooting of civilians, word has come today that an investigation has been launched into the Army's conduct.

At issue is whether or not laws have been broken. U.S. Law clearly forbids the official use of troops in domestic law enforcement matters.

Increasingly, however, the lines have been blurred as to what constitutes a violation of the law.

The issue is of extreme importance in the present era in which citizens are increasingly worried about their liberty and the growing intrusiveness of government power, particularly after the election of Barack Obama.

It is to be hoped that nothing will be swept under the rug in this investigation, that if someone in command is guilty of violating the sacred trust that troops will not be used in any way to investigate or prosecute citizens, that such a person or persons will be held accountable.
