GUN CONTROL: Chicago Worse Than D.C.?

Apparently the Governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, thinks that the city of Chicago may need him to send in the National Guard to 'get the gun problem under control.'

Blagojevich made the statement just after signing a new law requiring tougher penalties for selling guns to minors.

The National Guard?

What on earth is going on in Chicago?

Surely Chicago's gun violence could be no worse than D.C.'s. Yet even after enacting draconian measures--which the Supreme Court recently struck down--to supposedly 'address the problem,' D.C.'s criminal element exhibited absolutely no more reluctance to use guns in crime than they did before the gun ban was enacted.

Chicago has always been a haven for crime and corruption, even within its political machine. But the National Guard?

When an arm of the U.S. Military is sent in to turn on our own civilians, those Guards immediately become jackbooted thugs whose sole purpose is to beat citizens into submission to government.

I have a better idea, Governor. Why not prosecute criminals both in and out of Chicago's government effectively and turn the average citizens loose to exercise their Constitutional right to self-defense with firearms?

Let a few dozen criminals per weekend be shot to death by armed citizens, and perhaps your crime problem in Chicago would abate.
