Second Amendment News Roundup for 8/19/08

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

From Codrea's War on Guns:
*'Fingers Point South of the Border'
*'Fingers Point North of the Border'
*'Worth 10,000 Words'
*'Women on Frau..uh..Guard'--women and guns--a MUST-read!
*'Grand Opening'--an update on the grand opening of the new Red's Trading Post

Armed and Safe comments on the upcoming election and has no regard for either choice. I basically agree with the exception that with McCain we will probably get much better judges in the courts--not to mention that in terms of foreign policy he is the Ph.D. while Obama is still in kindergarten.

Notice! For the second day in a row I have not been able to open Sebastian's blog at Snow Flakes in Hell. Don't know whether the problem is on my end or his, but I'm not having the same problem with other blogs. Sebastian?

The Bitch Girls provide a good read on McCain-Feingold and corruption in politics.

JR at A Keyboard and a .45 has Governor Rick Perry's response to the school district in Texas that's allowing school personnel to carry guns.

Nicki found some VERY pointed advice for Barack Obama. A good read!

Mike McCarville has a late-breaking update on the Oklahoma D.A. who is harassing a blogger because of negative comments on the blog about the D.A. Perhaps the term 'D.A.' in this case stands for 'Dumb A**'? Naaaaa...I don't want to get harassed.

Alphecca comments on the anti-gun billboard campaign in Massachusetts.

Ahab has a reminder about tonight's show 'Gun Nuts--The Next Generation.' He and Squeaky will have Robb Allen and Joe Huffman as guests.

Syd at Front Sight, Press issues a warning to those who would attempt to take their guns into Canada.

Breda has some examples of the condescending, arrogant Barack Obama toward women!

Traction Control cites an article in the Washington Post on Dick Heller getting his gun registration.

Dr. John Lott indicates that the major media is finally picking up the story on Obama's extremist position on abortion (he actually supports infanticide), and the lies he has told to hide his record on the subject in Illinois.

Western Rifle Shooters Association has an excellent piece on 'Living in an Imperial World.'

The Rustmeister points to an anti who is about as honest as a snake-oil salesman.

The Smallest Minority has the quote of the day. Don't miss THIS one!

Walls of the City has breaking news on reciprocal handgun carry permits. Read it all.

Blogstitution points to essential reading by Charles Krauthammer on the narcissistic Barack Obama.

Squeaky gives us a summary of the very first Memphis blogger meetup and their trip to the shooting range over the weekend.

Via Rezkorama, The Barnyard follows up on allegations that Obama is receiving illegal campaign contributions.

The Real Gun Guys provide interesting reading and pics from the range activity on Sunday.

Roberta X announces this month's Indy Blog Meet.

Alphecca has a good read on algore's continuing hypocrisy.

Gateway Pundit has several must-reads. First, in spite of Obama's much-touted withdrawal plans for Iraq, once he got there the coward never mentioned the subject. Second, The New York Times refused to publish an editorial by John McCain in spite of the fact that it published a complete article written by Barack Obama. And third, the V-P of CBS News has the gall to say that John McCain is to blame for the Obama-worship of the 3 network anchors on the trip to Europe and the Middle East.

If you want a good laugh today just wait till you see what Michelle Malkin has posted...the finalists for the Obama World-Tour Tee-Shirt Contest. They are all good and incredibly funny!

From the NRA: an action alert for the state of Florida concerning concealed carry licenses.

The Western Rifle Shooters Association has the quote of the week from Billy Beck.

John Lott has an important item on the morons who run D.C. Since when did a semi-automatic handgun become a machine gun? ROFL!!

A Keyboard and a .45 has news about 'Cheaper Than Dirt's' new free online classified ads for firearms.

FreedomSight points to a ruling by my favorite entity in all the world--the 'World Court' of the European Union--which has 'ordered' Texas to halt executions. (Read my snide attempt at humor here, folks...this is to keep from coming unhinged).

Nicki at The Liberty Zone provides her usual riveting commentary, this time on Dick Heller's ill-fated attempt to register his gun in D.C. yesterday.

Squeaky announces that the podcast she hosts along with Ahab now has a new blog and merchandise store. Just click on the Squeaky-link for the details!

Google and the Brady Bunch both can go to hell. Say Uncle says that when you do a Google-search for the term 'carry permit holders,' the first entry that comes up is the Brady Bunch.

Snow Flakes in Hell reports that D.C.'s Eleanor Holmes Norton is encouraging residents NOT to exercise their natural, inherent right to self-defense with a handgun.

The Bitch Girls have launched a campaign to get Pennsylvania residents to volunteer for strong, pro-gun candidates before the November election. Good!

Robb Allen at Sharp as a Marble has the funny of the day. Take a look at how the 'gangstas' in D.C. are getting around the 'bottom-loading' ban.

Tam has essential reading on the quintessential abject failure--Commissar Nancy Pelosi--and her statement on Bush's 'failure.'

Traction Control turns up the heat on Barack Obama for his statement last week that America needs a Soviet or Nazi-styled 'citizen army' that would rival the U.S. military. No doubt about it, Obama is America's Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin rolled into one.

BREAKING NEWS: D.C. REJECTS HELLER PERMIT

David Codrea is reporting this afternoon that the District of Columbia has rejected the request of Dick Heller to get a handgun permit.

Heller is the man who brought the initial lawsuit against D.C.'s unconstitutional gun ban, which has been struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Yet when Mr. Heller showed up to register his firearm under D.C.'s new laws (approved just this week), he was summarily rejected. City officials stated that the handgun is a semi-automatic weapon, which most handguns are these days.

The Supreme Court, however, stated in its ruling that American citizens have a right to private gun ownership and that means they also have a right to their weapon of choice for self-defense, the handgun.

The majority opinion never specified wheel guns or semi-automatic handguns, but clearly most handguns sold today are in the semi-automatic category.

Sounds like Mr. Heller has reason to bring another lawsuit against D.C.

Second Amendment News Roundup for 7/17/08

Focusing on guns, politics, and news of interest, here is today's Second Amendment News Roundup:

Human Events has two excellent articles worth reading today. Blogonomicon announces that the dramatization of Patrick Henry's 'Give me liberty...' speech can be purchased on DVD. The film is called Give me Liberty. (h/t to David Codrea). CORRECTION! Actually, I think the name of the DVD is The Charge of the Light Brigade, which contains a short feature entitled, Give Me Liberty.

Alphecca reports that Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick intends to get rid of pesky gun owners. His plan is to force them into submission using the 'we'll fee you to death' scheme, which is what Massachusetts is known for doing anyway with regard to taxes and fees.

Roberta X provides some prudent insight for gunnies in a piece entitled, 'Your House is Not a Free-Fire Zone.'

Michelle Malkin has several items of great interest today. First, Jessie Jackson dropped the N-word bomb on Obama in that now-infamous tape on Fox News. No wonder they didn't want to show all of it. Second, we get a realistic picture of what we can expect from the traveling Obamedia--female journalists who act as groupies. And third, Malkin reports that an intellectually challenged speaker at the NAACP contends that Barack Obama was 'lynched by the cartoon on the New Yorker.'

John Lott reports that Obama has told yet another whopper of a barefaced lie concerning his position on gun rights, and Lott has the proof.
